    Wonderful Summer Vacation

    After staying at Fufu Kawaguchiko last year and loving the Fufu atmosphere, we chose Shizuyo no Mori in Karuizawa this year. Just as we hoped, it is a wonderful Hotel with a calm and relaxing ambiance. The staff’s warm smiles, the courtyard view from the lobby, and the forest scenery through our Room window were truly soothing. The meals were delicious and beautifully presented, and we enjoyed them very much. Thank you very much for a wonderful summer vacation.

    We made wonderful travel memories!

    Having visited Yoko no Kaze before, we stayed here this year. Our family has grown, and our daughter-in-law joined us as well. They kindly prepared Rooms next to each other for us. At Kumoba Terrace, we took our time enjoying alcohol and fresh juice, and the lit bonfire and birch forest were truly soothing. In the spacious, clean Room, we relaxed in the Onsen brought from Ueda City. The cuisine was outstanding—seasonal and beautifully presented. We enjoyed everything from the scallop takikomi rice to dessert, though the portions were a bit large for me. As it was our daughter-in-law’s birthday month, we requested a surprise message plate. She was very happy, which made us glad as well. Thanks to the thoughtful staff, we were able to add another precious family memory. Thank you very much.

    The meals were outstanding!

    This was our first stay with you this summer. Your attentive hospitality was truly appreciated—thank you for moving the extra bed in our Room and for accommodating our request to bring dinner forward from the originally late time. The meals were outstanding: not only the aroma and texture of the ingredients, but also the dashi and seasoning were excellent, delighting all five senses. From the Reservation stage, you carefully asked not only about allergies but also about ingredients we dislike, so everyone could enjoy the food. The bath in our Room was spacious and very relaxing. Our family was delighted, and we would love to stay again if we have the opportunity.

    I had booked a two-night stay with breakfast and dinner, both Japanese meals, but I wanted to change one dinner to teppanyaki instead. When I asked at check-in, you kindly accommodated my request, and I was able to enjoy both teppanyaki and Japanese cuisine. Thank you very much for accommodating my request.

    The dining options need to be updated.

    I stayed for one night and two days. I was very satisfied with the staff’s hospitality and the excellent, well-equipped Facilities, and I had a comfortable stay. On the other hand, I felt that the meal (Japanese kaiseki) needs improvement. The fried conger eel and the mixed rice cooked in a clay pot clearly lacked harmony in flavor, and I was also disappointed by visuals that did not feel worthy of a luxury Hotel, such as a dish served in a whole apple used as a bowl. Overall, none of the flavors were particularly memorable, so I would like to see an improvement in the quality of the taste itself (the cooking level rather than the ingredients), not just the presentation. There were also no dishes that made me think, “I want to come back just to eat this,” so I hope to see improvements going forward.

    Hehe, the best.

    This was my first stay at Fufu Karuizawa Shoyo no Mori. Last year, I stayed at Fufu Karuizawa Yoko no Kaze and was very satisfied, so this year I chose Shoyo no Mori. The property has a calm atmosphere, with a relaxing lobby lounge and courtyard. The Room was spacious, and the Onsen was wonderful. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious. I would definitely like to stay again.

    Exceptional breakfast and dinner, an unbeatable location, and refined guest rooms

    I’ve stayed at many Onsen Ryokan and Hotels, but the Japanese dinner and breakfast served here were unquestionably among the very best—truly top-tier quality. The location is also excellent, offering a wonderful setting where you can fully enjoy Karuizawa’s rich natural surroundings. The guest room had a great atmosphere, with beautifully refined decor down to the smallest details, creating a high-quality space where I could truly relax. Overall, it was a very satisfying stay; however, the only area with room for improvement was the quality and selection of drinks offered in the lounge, which felt slightly below the standard of the rest of the Accommodation. If this were enhanced, I believe the stay would be even more perfect. The meals and overall ambiance were outstanding, so I would definitely love to return.

    We used this venue for a family meeting.

    We used this Accommodation for a meeting with our engaged daughter and her fiancé’s parents. My spouse and I stayed the night before, and it was a truly wonderful place. The meals were excellent in every way, with outstanding quality and generous portions. We have stayed at other Fufu properties as well, but Kyukaruizawa was the best.

    Anniversary stay for my wife's birthday

    We stayed in Room 102 on my wife’s birthday (5/28). From the moment we arrived, we received such thoughtful hospitality. After a clear check-in explanation, we were shown to our Room. It was only a short time, but the staff member who guided us had a wonderful smile, and both my wife and I truly enjoyed listening to the Room details in such a pleasant and fun conversation. The same staff member also took photos for us at the entrance. When taking the shot with the entire Facility in frame, they even waved to us—such a playful touch that really warmed our hearts. At dinner, another staff member assisted us, and just like at check-in, we received so much kind attention that we were able to enjoy a truly wonderful dining experience. Of course, the meal was absolutely delicious, and we are deeply grateful for the surprise birthday plate as well. The staff member who served breakfast the next morning was also extremely courteous. Even though they were busy with work, they responded kindly and pleasantly to our conversation, for which we are truly thankful. Finally, when it was time to check out, the staff member in charge greeted us again with a lovely smile and made us want to stay here again with their genuinely welcoming service—it was hard to leave. To all of the staff who took care of us: thank you very much. We would love to stay at this Accommodation again. Thank you for giving my wife such an enjoyable and heartwarming birthday unlike any she has had before.

    Wonderful hospitality

    We stayed here to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. Having previously stayed at Fufu Nikko, we arrived with high expectations. The hospitality was truly outstanding, and the meals were delicious. We will definitely come again.

    The food is simply delicious.

    I had only stayed at Fufu Atami before, so this was my first time in Karuizawa. The food was excellent. Not only were the portions generous, but each Japanese dish at dinner had a well-balanced, satisfying flavor, and I enjoyed every course. Because I eat quickly, there were moments when I had nothing to do while waiting, so I would appreciate it if the pacing could be a bit faster. That said, some items—such as freshly cooked rice—take time, so I understand and did not let it affect my rating. (Still, if it could be sped up a little, I could return to the Room sooner and relax more.) As others have mentioned, the bath’s slightly rough texture bothered me a bit. Also, the step edges are sharp right angles and can dig in when you lean back; I wish there had been enough space to stretch out my legs comfortably.

    This is one of our favorite Accommodations as a couple, and Karuizawa Seiyo no Mori stood out especially for its outstanding dining. The cuisine at Karuizawa Shion was irresistible—not only in taste, but also in aroma, texture, and presentation. We could truly feel the skill in every detail, and enjoyed it very much. On the other hand, the view from the Room window is not particularly good; however, the surrounding area is right in the heart of Old Karuizawa’s villa district, so we highly recommend taking a walk around the neighborhood. All of the staff were wonderful as well, and we were able to enjoy a very pleasant stay. Thank you very much.

    Wonderful

    The Room’s interior design is different from that of a typical Hotel room, and it feels special from the moment you step inside. Each staff member provided attentive service, and overall we had a very pleasant stay. The meals were Japanese cuisine, and not only did everything taste great, but the presentation was also wonderful—making it an enjoyable experience. The bath in the Room was spacious and very relaxing, but it would be even better if the window could open wider. Also, in this season there isn’t much greenery yet, so it was a bit disappointing that we could see a house across the way through gaps between the trees.

    The Room layout was well designed, and we had a very comfortable stay. Every meal was delicious, and we truly enjoyed them. We also had the conger eel mixed rice made into rice balls and enjoyed them later as a late-night snack.

    A model of small luxury

    This was my first stay with the Fufu brand, and I was very impressed by the thoughtful attention to detail throughout, as well as the stylish design. I’ve stayed at several small luxury properties, but here even the subtle Facilities and furnishings really resonated with me. The meals in particular were truly delicious—I was moved again and again. Also, although it is transported hot spring water, the in-Room (semi-)open-air bath was outstanding. Precisely because of this season, the cool outdoor air felt wonderful, and with screens in place I didn’t have to worry about insects. If I had to mention a few drawbacks: - At breakfast, service such as bringing dishes felt rushed (I suspected they may have been short-staffed… though the service itself was excellent). - As a small luxury Accommodation it’s understandable, but there are limited public spaces such as a large communal bath. - The Room included complimentary drinks plus beer so it wasn’t a major issue, but having paid alcohol placed there takes away from the experience. - Likewise with dining, being encouraged toward higher-priced options is also off-putting. Overall, at this price level many guests probably want to pay upfront and then relax without thinking about extra charges. To be honest, it felt a bit too sales-driven and became tiring. That said, overall this is an Accommodation with very high satisfaction. Personally I found myself torn between here and HIRAMATSU Karuizawa Miyota—HIRAMATSU has better views, while Fufu has better access—so it’s genuinely hard to choose. I’d love to return again in the future, including to other Fufu properties as well.

    I was deceived.

    I made a reservation based on the photos of the room posted on the site, but I was guided to a different room than the one shown. Although it was mentioned on the site that the photos are for illustrative purposes, the rooms shown in the photos do exist. Isn't it misleading to attract customers with photos and then guide them to a different room? I requested a change of room, but it was not accommodated. It is disappointing that there was no apology either. If I had known this would be my assigned room, I would not have stayed here. I used this accommodation for a special occasion, but it turned out to be an unfortunate memory.

    This is solely a personal opinion.

    1: The staff is friendly yet polite. However, they seem unprepared for non-standard questions (e.g., whether PayPay can be used for payment or how receipts are handled), often needing to check elsewhere for answers, which is inconvenient. 2: At check-in, I informed the staff that my right arm (dominant hand) was injured and I couldn't write. While they kindly expressed concern, this information wasn't shared among the team as drinks and other items were placed on my right side during meals, requiring me to move them myself to eat comfortably. 3: Both breakfast and dinner seating were near the kitchen entrance, where casual conversations from the kitchen staff could be clearly heard. 4: The breakfast staff seemed inexperienced; when I ordered coffee, it was served without milk or sugar. Although these were brought upon request, a spoon was forgotten. 5: The bathtub's bottom surface felt very rough. While not particularly sensitive-skinned, moving forward with my hands or sitting caused minor abrasions on my palms and hips. When I inquired at checkout if all rooms had similar bathtubs, the response was "I don't know because I've never been inside a room." 6: At checkout, I received a discount ticket but was told to read it for details myself. Upon reading it, further details were supposed to be in an accompanying booklet that wasn't provided to me.

    Following last year,...

    Following last year, we stayed during the late autumn foliage season again this year. Even without a large public bath, the spacious bathroom in the room was more than sufficient. The meals were excellent, featuring plenty of seasonal ingredients, and we enjoyed them with both our eyes and taste buds, all the way to dessert. We were able to relax comfortably in a lovely room. We would love to visit again!

    It was incredibly relaxing.

    We arrived by car and were warmly welcomed upon arrival, with a courteous reception. The Room was very lovely and provided a relaxing atmosphere. They even asked about the bath temperature preference and promptly adjusted it, which was a thoughtful gesture. We ordered Japanese cuisine for dinner, and every dish was visually delightful and tasted exceptional. Breakfast was also thoroughly enjoyable from the start of the day. Everything exceeded our expectations, leaving us completely satisfied. Thank you for making it a wonderful trip!

    A trip for a middle-aged couple

    I enjoyed a relaxing 2-night, 3-day stay in a calm and peaceful atmosphere. The staff's hospitality was excellent, and I loved the various fire features throughout the Hotel. The meals were Japanese cuisine, delicately prepared with a wide variety of dishes. For us in our early senior years, the portions were more than enough to leave us fully satisfied. The mixed rice cooked in an iron pot at night was made into rice balls for late-night snacks if there were leftovers. In the lobby and courtyard, you can enjoy free drinks while relaxing on outdoor sofas by the firepit for an elegant moment. Among all the "Fufu" locations I've visited so far, this might be my favorite!

    The main Japanese dish and dessert were slightly below expectations, but everything else was truly wonderful. The room and garden were very beautiful, and the private dining room for dinner was spacious and had a calm atmosphere. The Onsen allowed for a relaxing soak while lying down, which was incredibly soothing. The staff were pleasant, making the stay very comfortable. I look forward to using the FUFU series again in the future.

    Second stay

    Thank you for your hospitality once again. As always, every Fufu accommodation is comfortable. However, there were a few points that caught my attention this time. Since we arrived early, we planned to leave the car and have lunch nearby. Additionally, as the roads were congested with traffic, we thought of borrowing bicycles to explore and find an open restaurant. Unfortunately, there was only one bicycle available, so the two of us had to walk instead. Later on, I heard that there are six bicycles in total; while it’s understandable, having more bicycles available for rental would be greatly appreciated given the traffic situation. In the evening, we enjoyed drinks while sitting on the outdoor sofa; however, due to rain from the previous night, the sofa was wet despite towels being placed as a precautionary measure. Even though it felt dry at first touch after sitting for some time it became slightly damp. It might be helpful if additional towels could be provided in such cases. I understand these matters can be challenging but would appreciate your consideration moving forward. Next month I will stay at Fufu Tokyo on its opening day and look forward to another wonderful experience with you all! Thank you again for everything!

    A Perfect Moment of Relaxation

    This was my first time staying at Fufu Karuizawa. Although it was a bit early for the autumn leaves, I enjoyed a peaceful moment sitting in the courtyard where the trees had just started to change color. The Room was equipped with top-notch facilities, and I felt truly relaxed as I watched the flickering stove fire until check-out time. The Japanese cuisine beautifully reflected the season through its presentation and tableware, and both dinner and breakfast were exquisitely delicious.     We had a truly wonderful time surrounded by nature. The staff's hospitality was excellent, and we were very satisfied. However, one concern was the breakfast area on the second floor. The seating arrangement faces the windows, but being exposed to direct sunlight made it quite uncomfortable. Since it was summer, I felt that women concerned about sunburn might find it difficult to stay seated for long periods. It wasn’t conducive to enjoying a leisurely meal. I believe this is an issue that requires prompt improvement.

    This was my third time using the Fufu series. I was satisfied with the cleanliness of the facility. I also used the rental bicycles and found them easy to use smoothly. When I previously stayed at Fufu Kyoto, I could enjoy breakfast in my room, which allowed me to relax. It might be difficult, but having such a service would be greatly appreciated.

    It was a very satisfying accommodation in every aspect. The staff, meals, room, and bath were all excellent. However, regarding the meals, it was quite disappointing to find out that the matsutake mushrooms in the final matsutake rice were imported. Also, I felt that the sandals provided for use inside the facility were a bit difficult to wear. Still, I think it is a truly wonderful accommodation overall. Thank you very much.     As long as it doesn't rain...

    Although it was a bit disappointing not to be able to enjoy the garden due to the rain, I was truly impressed by the comfort of the Room, which exceeded my expectations. The spacious bath, in particular, provided a luxurious experience and offered ample space for complete relaxation. Additionally, the soothing music playing throughout the Hotel enhanced the overall atmosphere. The warmth of the fireplace was also delightful, providing both visual and physical comfort that brought peace to my heart. Despite the rain, I am very pleased with such a satisfying experience.
