    Delicious meals and a relaxing atmosphere

    This was an Accommodation I had always wanted to visit, and I was finally able to stay this time. The service, Facility, and meals were perfect, but unfortunately the baths were disappointing. The men’s bath has a sauna, a hot stone spa, and an open-air bath; however, the open-air bath only fits two people. Also, because the in-room bathroom is large, it takes a long time to fill with hot water, and even once filled it cools down quickly—so I would be concerned during colder seasons. That said, every dish was delicious—especially the grilled shark fin, which was outstanding. I had read comments saying breakfast was small, but even as someone with a big appetite I found it more than satisfying. The Room was spacious, and the futon was comfortable so I slept very well. Since it was extremely hot we didn’t take walks around the vast grounds or nearby area this time, but it’s in a location where you can also enjoy strolling around the neighborhood.

    Breakfast

    The only disappointing part was the breakfast. I couldn’t really understand the concept. If the rice porridge isn’t Chinese-style congee, it would be better to have an option to choose regular rice instead, and the ramen was served too early. Even though this is Numazu, the dried splendid alfonsino was tough and tasted bad, which was the most disappointing part. I didn’t need other items—more than anything, I wanted the fish to be delicious. I also didn’t understand why it had to be served as dried fish. Many of the other guests seemed to be in their 50s and 60s, so even small portions would be fine if you focused on a few key items that are soft and easy to eat. A simple but thoughtful breakfast would feel much better. For after-meal tea, I think it would be nice to include the small sweets that were served at night, because they were delicious.

    Excellent

    Simply the best. The staff’s professionalism, service, Room, meals, and architecture—everything was outstanding, and it made for a truly satisfying stay. The fittings were beautifully maintained, and it was fun just walking around and taking in the Facility. The amenities were well stocked, and the minibar was exceptionally well supplied, making for a wonderful time. And above all, the food was incredible—both dinner and breakfast were a perfect 10/10. Great care is also put into the desserts, which were delicious. A place I definitely want to return to.

    The moment you step inside, it feels like another world—you even forget you’re by the sea. But if you go out through the secret door and walk on, breathtaking views of the ocean, the harbor, and Mt. Fuji await. We had a wonderful time, and it became an unforgettable birthday.     The tea pavilion, designated as a Tangible Cultural Property, was truly beautiful. A member of the Hotel staff kindly guided us inside and explained it to us, making this an unforgettable trip. The Hotel building itself was also wonderful and looked beautiful both during the day and at night. When traveling, I often end up turning on the TV or going to a convenience store to buy drinks, but here there was no TV and plenty of drinks in the Room, so I could relax without going out at all. It was incredibly refreshing. The grounds are spacious and full of greenery, and it was also great that we couldn’t see any roads or other buildings. It seems the garden changes with the seasons, so I’d love to visit again in a different season. Thank you very much.

    Satisfied with everything

    The expansive garden, the dignified tranquility of the buildings, and the cultural ambience drifting through each Room of the tea pavilion—everything left a deep impression. The alcove arrangements in the tea room, and Oribe ware and other vessels casually placed in the preparation area, all conveyed a refined sensibility that can discern beauty from ugliness. The thoughtful care and gentle smiles of every staff member we met were equally fragrant with warmth. At dinner, since I do not like chicken, I asked to change your signature “Yodare Chicken,” and perhaps that brought me bad luck—the soup served afterward was so intensely spicy it felt as if my throat were burning. When I mentioned near the end of dinner that we were celebrating our golden wedding anniversary, a staff member treated us to a delicious drink along with warm words. It was a wonderful stay that will remain quietly in my heart. Thank you very much.

    A private Accommodation with an exclusive feel

    It was great to stay in a quiet environment with few guests. Unfortunately, I was woken up at times during the night by a thumping noise from a nearby Room, but the staff took good care of the situation, including that issue. The tea and various drinks provided in the Room were free, so I could relax and enjoy them. The Chinese cuisine was well combined with Shizuoka ingredients, and both dinner and breakfast were delicious. I would like to stay again if I have the chance.

    A relaxing Accommodation for adults.

    We stayed here for our wedding anniversary. From the warm welcome to the clear and attentive guidance that made us look forward to our stay, our expectations only grew.     This was our third v...

    This was our third visit, and because the Room layout and views are different, we were able to enjoy the second-floor scenery and the open-air bath this time. The modern Chinese cuisine was as delicious as ever, and since our last stay we’ve been ordering one extra dumpling for dipping in the “Yodare Chicken” sauce from the start (lol). Our favorite part of this Facility is definitely the spa treatments. We felt truly refreshed both physically and mentally again. We’d like to visit around summer next time. Thank you for another wonderful stay.

    Since our Room did not have a TV, I initially thought we might feel something was missing, but we were satisfied with everything and were able to relax and enjoy our stay. My wife was also very pleased, and we will visit again. Thank you very much.

    Inconsistent hospitality

    A lovely building and garden, plus Chinese cuisine that’s rare for an Accommodation—those points are true, but it’s hard to tell whether they actually want to offer hospitality or not. Everything feels mismatched. The Room is on the second floor. It was said to be the only one with a view of Mt. Fuji, but for a Facility at this level, the entrance is terrible—narrow like a cheap apartment. The living room looks fairly spacious. There is a sofa, but it’s not something you can truly relax into. There’s also a dining table, but since there’s no real occasion to use it, it feels unnecessary. There are flowers as decoration, but nothing that conveys warmth or care; there are no tasteful ornaments or artwork either. Snacks and tea are not well prepared, and even the electric kettle is awkward to use. There is a TV in the bedroom, but none in the living room for some reason. The toilet shares the same space as the sink area and shower booth and is not separate. From there it leads to the open-air bath. The toilet/sink floor is stone tile with neither floor heating nor slippers, so it’s cold. Normally an in-room open-air bath should already be filled and warmly inviting when you enter, but here you have to fill it yourself or step out once to reheat it; in winter it’s simply freezing. In that case, a regular indoor bath would be better. Amenities are standard; there are no high-end skincare products worth looking forward to. The men’s large public bath has only an open-air bath, sauna, hot-stone spa (ganbanyoku), and cold plunge—there is no warm indoor bath. The washing area consists of just one small station near the cold plunge; this should be explained in advance. The women’s side does have a warm indoor bath, but the layout/flow is poor and there is no guidance signage so it’s hard to understand. The baths may rotate by day. I was looking forward to Chinese meals for both dinner and breakfast; while creative, they didn’t feel exceptional. After checkout I declined help with my luggage; without even being seen off at that point I trudged across the large garden on my way home. Overall everything looks good at first glance, but I can’t help saying it lacks genuine hospitality. It also doesn’t feel like even this wonderful building and garden are being treated with care—for example being guided into a tea room while walking on tatami in slippers. In short: “A Buddha made without its soul.”

    It was excellent.

    Everything was stylish. The Room was lovely, and the meals were incredibly delicious. After breakfast, we were given a guided tour of the building where meals are served, which left a strong impression. I would love to visit again if I have the chance.

    It's a great facility, but disappointing.

    The facility is a designated Important Cultural Property and a wonderful place. However, while our luggage was carried from the parking lot to the room upon arrival, no assistance was provided to carry it back to the parking lot after checkout, which was disappointing. Despite having quite a lot of luggage, there was no offer of help, leaving an impression that it falls short compared to other high-end hotels or ryokans we have stayed at. This was especially unfortunate as there were no particularly negative impressions regarding room guidance or other services and considerations. Although the closet in the room is spacious, there are too few hangers, which should be improved. While this may seem minor, there were other points of concern as well; I believe more effort should be made to provide services with greater consideration for guests' perspectives.

    Highly satisfied!

    The Chinese cuisine was quite unexpected given the atmosphere of the accommodation. However, the taste was exceptionally delicious and elevated my impression of Chinese food. This was my first time staying here, and I highly commend the high level of service provided by the staff. In particular, explanations about rooms like the tea room and architectural styles were very helpful for first-time visitors like us. The guide's assistance was also excellent and deserves praise. As for the large public bath, I found it a bit unsatisfactory as there was only one washing area and a rather small bathtub. Aside from that point, I believe this is an extremely satisfying accommodation overall. I look forward to visiting again in due course.

    Extraordinary

    We stayed here for our wedding anniversary. It was peaceful, with the sound of the ocean and a serene atmosphere created by the water feature, making it a calm and relaxing day. The meals were unique and exceptionally delicious Chinese cuisine, leaving us fully satisfied. The building beautifully combines historical elements with bold, modern designs. We would love to stay here again if we have the chance!

    Small Luxury

    I visited to see the architecture by Akira Watanabe of Niki Club. The water basin here reflects the accommodation building when viewed from the outside, and the surrounding trees when viewed from the room side, creating a particularly magical and beautiful scene at night. The tea pavilion, a tangible cultural property nestled in a spacious Japanese garden, offered picturesque views from every window. The hospitality was excellent and very soothing. This is an accommodation I would love to visit again during different seasons. During an evening tour to see the sea, I witnessed "Angel's Ladder."

    This was my second v...

    This was my second visit. Last time, I stayed in a Room on the second floor during winter, and this time, I stayed in a Room on the first floor during summer. The different layouts and views of the Rooms allowed me to enjoy their unique charms. The entire facility, including the spa, is clean, and the modern Chinese cuisine is all delicious. The staff are friendly and create a very comfortable atmosphere. Since the spa treatment was excellent last time, I tried it again this visit and felt completely rejuvenated both physically and mentally. I look forward to visiting again in another season!

    Very relaxing! Perfect accommodation for an adult getaway!

    A historic and thoughtfully designed building, a serene space surrounded by nature with greenery and birdsong, and stylishly crafted rooms that enhance comfort. The accommodation features a sauna in a refined setting, complemented by the pleasant scent of uka amenities. Guests can also enjoy dishes supervised by the head chef of Ichirin Hanare, making for an exceptional travel experience overall. Although my stay was short, I was thoroughly satisfied! Highly recommended for those seeking a quiet getaway for adults, sauna enthusiasts, or anyone who appreciates stylish spaces!

    A spacious and serene Hotel. The traditional Japanese architecture at the dining area was amazing! The Chinese cuisine was also delicious, and everything was satisfying. I wonder why I hadn't chosen Numazu Club before? It has now become one of the Hotels I want to visit again!

    I had a relaxing time.

    Due to the tsunami warning issued in this area following a major earthquake in Russia the previous day, we called early in the morning to inquire about the situation. The staff responded kindly, allowing us to head out with peace of mind. Having read comments on IKYU.com about this accommodation's features beforehand, we visited with expectations and had a pleasant and relaxing stay. The room's bath was spacious and comfortable. Watching numerous red dragonflies flying over the water surface and witnessing a black kite circling while calling before landing right outside our room were fascinating and enjoyable experiences. As for meals, while preferences may vary, both the Chinese-style dinner and breakfast were just right in portion size for us and deliciously satisfying. The woman who served our dinner was cheerful and left a positive impression. We also enjoyed the complimentary champagne provided as part of the Diamond Member benefits in our room. This is an accommodation we'd love to revisit during another season!

    We will visit again!

    We visited for the first time as a family during a break in our child's schedule. The serene and beautiful atmosphere, the lovely welcoming flowers, the delicious and thoughtfully prepared dishes, the relaxing Room, and even an unexpected stone sauna... everything provided a brief but rejuvenating retreat for both body and mind. The staff were all kind, gentle, and truly soothing. Unfortunately, it was just a one-night stay this time, but we will definitely return for a longer visit!

    A Refreshing Accommodation

    A serene accommodation nestled in Senbon Matsubara, where you can hear the sound of the waves. The architecture by Akira Watanabe features delicate overlapping lines, creating a world apart within nature that soothes the soul. The spacious terrace is delightful, with wagtails occasionally visiting. The cuisine at the teahouse, served in a historic cultural property, is carefully crafted and delicious. Different menus are thoughtfully prepared for guests during their stay. Both tableware and service are excellent. The bar and spa staff were all kind, ensuring a comfortable experience. The Akihiro Nikaido exhibition that happened to be held was also wonderful.

    Enjoy Numazu!

    I booked this based on a recommendation from a friend in Tokyo, and it was absolutely wonderful. Everything exceeded my expectations. The meals were perfectly portioned and offered an exquisite Chinese cuisine experience that delighted all the senses, with every dish carefully prepared. The room was clean, and I enjoyed a relaxing time while admiring the view from the room. The spa had a modern and stylish atmosphere, which was lovely. The cheese tart provided in the room was so delicious that I went to buy more at the shop the next day. The walking distance to the port was just right, where I purchased some bread and dried fish. I also visited a café frequented by Mikuni-san and fully enjoyed exploring Numazu city. It was truly an unforgettable trip.

    A picturesque Hotel from every angle.

    I had always dreamed of staying here, and finally, my dream came true. It was a truly beautiful hotel, picture-perfect in every way. Although I stayed in a room on the first floor, it felt much more spacious than I had imagined from the website. The view of the water basin from the room added to the wonderful atmosphere. From the back entrance of the accommodation, it was just a few minutes' walk to reach the beach, where I enjoyed breathtaking views of the sunset and Mount Fuji. A few points that caught my attention: - The bathroom, toilet, and sink are all in one space with slatted flooring that makes noise when walked on. - There is no door for privacy in the toilet area. - The public bath is small and lacks any scenic view. - No loungewear or skincare products are provided within the facility. - The Chinese-style breakfast portion felt slightly insufficient. Despite these minor concerns, this accommodation has a unique atmosphere that sets it apart as one-of-a-kind!

    We had a wonderful time.

    I stayed alone at the accommodation and had a truly wonderful time. I would love to visit again for special occasions. 1. Space: The architecture and lush green garden were beautiful, offering a soothing view. The faint sound of ocean waves added to the serene atmosphere. 2. Room: The Superior Balcony Room on the second floor came with a private open-air bath, providing great privacy (the rooms on the first floor near the front are visible from outside, so I recommend choosing the second floor if you’re concerned about privacy). The interior design, bedding, and blackout shutters were all refined, making my stay very comfortable. 3. Hospitality: The staff warmly welcomed me, allowing me to relax without any hesitation even as a solo traveler. The welcome sweets were exquisite! 4. Dining: The modern Chinese course served in an atmospheric tea house was absolutely delicious and impressive in every way. I enjoyed trying various dishes in small portions with just the right amount of food overall. Spending time in the salon after breakfast was also exceptional! 5. Bathing Facilities: There was an open-air bath, large public bath, and sauna available with amenities from uka provided—this was excellent! My only disappointment was that there wasn’t a stopper for the door of the large public bath; it made loud noises opening and closing due to wind gusts which disrupted relaxation slightly—but aside from this minor issue, everything else exceeded expectations!

    This was a visit I had been looking forward to for a long time, and it exceeded my expectations. The room was clean and comfortable, and while it wasn’t an onsen, the quality of the water and the unique minerals made it feel like one. The modern Chinese cuisine offered at this accommodation was quite rare, but every dish was absolutely delicious. The "Mouthwatering Chicken," "Dipping Dumplings," and "Spicy Noodles" were especially enjoyable, and I can see why they are so popular. I chose a plan that included spa treatments this time, and the treatment was exceptional—choosing this plan turned out to be a great decision. After breakfast, one of the staff members gave us an explanation about the building's history, which was very fascinating. I could feel their love for the property throughout my stay. This is yet another wonderful accommodation I would love to revisit in the future! Looking forward to coming back again soon!
