    I was very satisfied.

    We stayed as a family during the summer vacation. The new Facility was clean and comfortable throughout. The view from the Room was amazing, and it was a memorable experience to relax in the bath while gazing at the sea. Since we chose a meal-inclusive Plan, we were able to enjoy carefully prepared dishes at every meal. One small disappointment was that we had hoped to try some delicious local ingredients but missed out on kibinago sashimi and Goto beef—perhaps it was just by chance. The stargazing event held at nearby Onidake after departing from the Hotel became a treasured memory for us. Although I initially thought it might be a bit pricey, participating turned out to be absolutely worth it. With satisfying hospitality, I would definitely love to stay at this Hotel again!

    This is an excellent...

    This is an excellent Hotel. The staff's service was also outstanding. Thanks to them, I fully enjoyed sightseeing and dining in the Goto Islands for the first time. The only minor issue was that opening and closing the blinds was a bit difficult. Additionally, it might be more convenient if the open-air bath and shower room were next to each other.

    Sky, Sea, and Gourmet Delights

    I stayed for three nights in August and had a wonderful time. The weather was perfect every day, and I thoroughly enjoyed the extraordinary experience with breakfast, dinner, wine pairings, and the spa. Amazingly, my skin issues cleared up from the very first day! The young staff members, senior staff members, and everyone else were incredibly kind and attentive. The cake for my husband's 60th birthday celebration made for a beautiful photo and a memorable occasion. Thank you so much for everything. I’m looking forward to receiving the letter to the future!

    It became a wonderful memory!

    We celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary here. We are very grateful for the staff's thoughtful gestures, such as celebrating our anniversary and offering tea to my husband while he was working in the lounge at night. The staff's warm smiles made this a truly memorable stay. The Room was absolutely wonderful and very relaxing! However, there were many insects in the open-air bath at night, so I recommend enjoying it in the morning instead. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious, but considering the price, a bit more creativity would be appreciated (especially for breakfast). That said, it was an amazing stay! Thank you very much!

    A truly exceptional Hotel

    The facility, the private open-air bath in the room, and the stunning ocean view were all exceptional, but above all, I was deeply impressed by the hospitality of the staff! On my birthday during my stay, even though I hadn't mentioned it, they surprised me with a Happy Birthday dessert plate and dessert wine. I also received a Birthday card, making it an unforgettable birthday. The meals allowed me to fully enjoy local ingredients, and I had a truly wonderful time! Thank you very much.

    GOTO RETREAT ray by ONKO CHISHIN Stay Report

    This year, our family trip took us to the enchanting Goto Islands. For our first night, we stayed at the wonderful Onkochishin. The entrance was already impressive, and as we stepped inside, the breathtaking view of Abunze Coast's beautiful ocean unfolded before us. The welcome sweets included Goto's specialty "Kankoro Mochi" and Camellia Tea—a heartwarming gesture that instantly made us feel at home. After check-in, we enjoyed a 24-hour open-air bath and a stunning Room with panoramic ocean views. The fridge was stocked generously: premium champagne and wine on the top shelf (for purchase), while beer and other drinks on the lower shelf were complimentary. They even provided coffee beans and a grinder—sipping freshly brewed coffee while gazing at the sea was pure bliss. Dinner featured a course meal showcasing Goto’s finest ingredients: fresh seafood, Goto beef, Goto udon noodles—all prepared to perfection! We paired it with local beverages like Goto shochu and wine; for sake lovers, there’s no local option from Goto itself but instead an award-winning Yokoyama Gold from nearby Iki Island delighted us. As evening fell outside our window, we watched daylight fade into twilight—a truly magical moment. To top it off, they surprised us with a celebratory plate for our 20th wedding anniversary alongside dessert! In our Room awaited adorable towel art creations and a heartfelt card—such thoughtful touches left us deeply moved. Breakfast was another highlight; starting the day with "Irimaki" (a traditional dish featuring silver-stripe round herring) brought happiness to every bite. The hotel shop offered beautifully curated items like postcards, aromatherapy products, tableware—all perfect souvenirs adding charm to daily life back home. Two types of in-room wear are available: loungewear or yukata robes—you’re free to choose either throughout your stay for ultimate relaxation. Since it was just after New Moon during our visit—the night sky dazzled with countless stars including glimpses of The Milky Way visible right from our Room! Ending such serene evenings soaking in open-air baths followed by cold beer felt utterly luxurious. Stunning scenery combined seamlessly warm hospitality delicious cuisine stylish ambiance created unforgettable memories here—we can’t wait return someday soon!

    Dream Island: Fully satisfied with the Goto Islands' blend of tradition and innovation.

    It was my first trip to the Goto Islands, and everything was perfect. The room's open-air bath, accessible 24 hours a day, and the refrigerator stocked with plenty of complimentary drinks, including beer, were delightful surprises. The restaurant staff were very friendly and welcoming with their warm smiles. I played golf, and the shuttle service in coordination with the golf course was excellent. It was an exceptional retreat that I would love to visit again. Many thanks to all the staff!

    A long-awaited stay at Goto Retreat

    I had been considering this accommodation as one of the places I wanted to stay for years, and my wish finally came true this time. Blessed with great weather, I was moved by the stunning views from the lobby and the room! The view of the ocean from the open-air bath in our room was especially breathtaking. Although it wasn’t an onsen, there was a clear explanation beforehand, so I stayed with full understanding and no issues at all. The meals featured a variety of dishes centered around Goto ingredients. Both the fish and Goto beef were incredibly delicious. Paired with local Goto sake, it was absolutely satisfying! The sweet potato shochu made with camellia yeast in collaboration with a local brewery had a gentle flavor and beautiful label design, so I bought some as souvenirs. After enjoying churches and scenery in Goto, indulging in relaxation at Goto Retreat is pure luxury. I would love to return to this accommodation for more healing moments again someday.     Stunning Ocean View

    We stayed here to celebrate our engagement. Everything, including the staff's hospitality, meals, bath, and the view from the room, was exceptional. The Fukue area in Goto itself is charming, but if you're staying overnight, we highly recommend this accommodation.

    It was truly a wonderful time.

    We stayed as a family of three. The view of the sea from the Room was amazing, and the food was absolutely delicious. The staff's hospitality and thoughtfulness were truly appreciated and outstanding. Thank you very much. Goto Islands had a nostalgic charm in a good way, with its beautiful sky, stunning sea, and delicious fish. We will definitely visit again!

    The meals were disappointing.

    I chose the plan with dinner and breakfast included, but both meals were very disappointing. None of the dishes were flavorful, and there wasn’t a single dish I found delicious. Additionally, dinner was served extremely slowly, taking two hours to complete. As someone who doesn’t eat slowly, the long duration was exhausting. The Hotel itself is excellent, so I might stay again in the future, but I will never include meals again. It was especially disappointing because there was a significant price difference between plans with and without meals.

    Wonderful Accommodation

    A Relaxing Couple's Trip The blue sea and sky of Fukue Island brought peace to our hearts. It was a wonderful accommodation that blended beautifully with nature. We thoroughly enjoyed the meals, which were delightful in color, aroma, and taste. The paired drinks complemented the dishes perfectly, enhancing their flavors even more.     I had a relaxing time.

    Just before the end of the rainy season, despite heavy rain, my stay at this hotel turned out to be wonderful thanks to the excellent accommodation. With floor-to-ceiling glass windows, the front view of the sea and a lawn garden visible from the window are off-limits, ensuring complete privacy as no one can see into your room from outside. I enjoyed a blissful time soaking in an open-air bath while listening to birds chirping and reading my favorite book. The adorable indoor wear provided was also a nice touch, allowing me to head straight to meals comfortably. However, while the meals were visually stunning and delicious, I felt that for a hotel of this class, they could have been slightly more impressive. I would love to visit again on a sunny day.     A pilgrimage journey, a cleansing of the soul

    Thank you very much for taking such wonderful care of us during our 3-day, 2-night stay. The thoughtfully designed Room, along with the history and culture of the Goto Islands, warmly embraced and welcomed us, and we are truly grateful. We requested a plan with two meals included, and it was a truly luxurious time as we fully enjoyed the blessings of Japan’s sea and mountains. The Room was also very comfortable, and even after returning to Tokyo we found many ideas we would love to incorporate ourselves—once again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

    The Sea, the Mountains, and the People

    I visited Goto just after the rainy season began, marking my first visit. The view from the Room changed its expression with time and was never tiring to look at. I enjoyed meals twice a day, in the morning and evening. The gentle flavors and rich dishes showcasing Goto and Kyushu were truly satisfying.

    The design is excellent, but there are some issues.

    The amenities were insufficient for the number of guests, requiring multiple requests to bring more. This was disappointing and unacceptable. The sofa bed was also too small. Additionally, the design appliances in the room were very difficult to use. The window leading outside was stiff and felt dangerous, as it could potentially cause injury when opening. The lighting in the open-air bath was too dim, leading to accidentally stepping into cold water. Frogs appeared in large numbers at the open-air bath, creating a loud chorus that made it hard to sleep at night. While the design is aesthetically pleasing, overall it felt inconvenient and stressful in many aspects. Both design and functionality are important. It did not feel worth the price paid. However, the meals were very delicious.

    The Room, service, and meals were all satisfactory. It would be great if improvements could be made regarding the smell of broth near the elevator hall in front of the 1F SPA. Additionally, I ordered a pairing of five types of alcohol with the meal, but their service was slower than the meal itself, resulting in the fifth drink being served with dessert.

    The food is disappointing.

    The facility is excellent, and it does provide a retreat-like atmosphere. However, the food is disappointing. I had read reviews comparing it to Iki Retreat in the same group, mentioning that the food quality was lower, but at this price point, this level of quality is unacceptable. The luxurious ingredient photos on the website should be considered purely illustrative images.

    The Hotel offers beautiful views from the Room.

    I visit Nagasaki City every year, but this year I extended my trip to Goto for the first time. The scenery on the way from the airport to the Hotel was serene, and I enjoyed the short drive. The lobby has an open atrium design, creating a spacious atmosphere, and the breathtaking ocean view from my Room refreshed my mind every time I looked at it. The open-air bath facing the sea had no glass panels, allowing an unobstructed view of the ocean, which was delightful. Since it was slightly chilly during my stay, the cool breeze felt pleasant. The staff were kind and provided detailed guidance on activities and sightseeing spots. The amenities in my Room made with Goto camellia were of high quality, and all souvenirs available at the Hotel shop were tasteful. The meals prepared with fresh local ingredients were delicious, and I enjoyed dishes creatively arranged by a chef from Tohoku. Overall, everything about their service was impeccable, making my stay very comfortable throughout. I would love to visit again!

    The Room was small, ...

    The Room was small, but the large window provided a sense of openness. Unfortunately, it was cloudy, so we couldn't enjoy the blue sea and sky, but the temperature was perfect. We spent a luxurious time drinking beer and reading on the outdoor sofa until sunset. Regarding the Facility and amenities, I had trouble figuring out how to use the kettle. I also didn't know how to grind coffee or measure the beans until I later noticed an instruction manual on the table. It would be helpful if it were placed on top of the cabinet or mentioned upon check-in. Additionally, the lighting at the sink was dim, and there was no magnifying mirror, which made applying makeup difficult. I also struggled with switching between shower and faucet functions—making me feel my age. I believe others may have faced similar challenges, so your consideration in these matters would be appreciated. The staff were very pleasant with just the right level of attentiveness. It truly made for a wonderful stay—thank you very much!

    Excellent Accommodation

    Finally, I was able to visit the Goto Retreat, a place I had always wanted to go. The accommodation itself and the hospitality were exceptional, making it a place I would love to visit again. Even though we don't drink alcohol, the dinner was delicious and paired perfectly with our meal. The staff's casual yet thoughtful conversations made for very pleasant service. The breathtaking scenery made me feel like sleeping was a waste of time, and the room was simply wonderful. I am motivated to work hard so that I can come back and stay here again!

    Luxury Adult Getaway for Holidays

    This was my first trip to Goto, and I chose this accommodation. The access from the airport and port was convenient, and the staff's attentive hospitality was outstanding. The guest room featured a mirrored wall on one side, allowing guests to enjoy the ocean view from within the room—truly impressive. The open-air bath was designed with privacy in mind, so I could relax and enjoy it without any concerns. I also thoroughly enjoyed unique local attractions like Onidake and Abunze Lava Coast, as well as souvenirs such as Gotojin found at nearby shops—completely satisfying! The restaurant meals were Michelin-level quality as expected. I opted for the pairing course this time, which paired rare wines with dishes featuring ingredients like karasumi (dried mullet roe)—a truly moving experience. This stay made me want to try other accommodations by Onko Chishin in the future—it was an exceptional experience!

    Unfortunately.

    This was my first time visiting the Goto Islands, and I was really looking forward to the Room, open-air bath, location, and meals. The moment I entered the Room, I was amazed at how wonderful it was. I was also very excited about dinner that night. I ordered a drink pairing to start off on a fun and delicious note. Then came the much-anticipated Goto beef sukiyaki! With excitement, I took a bite... "Huh?" What is this taste? This sourness? Does Goto sukiyaki have a sour flavor? The question lingered until the end of the meal. I decided to confirm with the staff and asked them about it—only to find out they had mistakenly used ponzu instead of sukiyaki sauce! Unbelievable! When I asked if it happened only to us, they said three other tables were also served incorrectly! Shocking. What’s more surprising is that there seemed to be no apologies made at other tables... Did those guests eat thinking that sour sukiyaki is normal? If we hadn’t pointed it out, would all of that day’s sukiyaki have been made with ponzu instead? It’s chilling just thinking about it. The staff offered to remake and serve us fresh ones but we were already full by then and declined—there's no way we could eat two servings of sukiyaki! The subsequent response from them included an apology but wasn’t satisfactory at all. They charged us fully as if nothing had happened. For such an expensive Hotel, this lack of sincerity in their response left me deeply disappointed. This level of service would never happen at a first-class Hotel. Our trip ended up being ruined because of this experience. Unfortunately, I don’t think I'll ever want to return again.

    The Facility and staff were wonderful at the Hotel.

    I stayed for two nights and three days. The Hotel was very stylish, and I was highly satisfied, but using the bath in the Room was a bit challenging. This time, I went with friends, so it was fine, but I wonder if it might be difficult to visit with my parents... On the second day, when my friend felt unwell and couldn't go to the restaurant for meals, they kindly brought the food to our Room. Such attentive service! Not only is the atmosphere of the Hotel wonderful, but so are its people. I will visit again!
