    The Best Ryokan

    I stayed on 2025/9/14. I chose this accommodation for its great atmosphere, and after staying, I felt it was even better. All the staff were polite and kind. I booked a room with a private open-air bath, and the view from the room was amazing! The food was also excellent! I would love to visit again during the autumn foliage season. Thank you very much!

    The Onsen is very relaxing.

    The accommodation was very clean and comfortable. The onsen in the large public bath was very relaxing. However, due to the season, many insects came to the open-air bath in the room, which might be challenging for those who dislike insects at night. The meals were delicious, but unfortunately, the "complimentary sparkling wine toast during dinner for Diamond Member Plan guests" was not provided. I only realized this after finishing my meal, so I didn't mention it, but it was disappointing. Overall, I am satisfied with my stay.

    The meals were delicious, the Room was wonderful, and the staff were kind and very pleasant, making it a great Hotel. However, the outdoor bath at night had many insects, so I felt that using the Room's bath might be better during summer nights.

    I had been keeping an eye on this accommodation since its opening, but as it was members-only, I hadn't stayed until now. Last year, it was selected for the Michelin Key and I learned that reservations could be made through IKYU.com, so I decided to stay for the first time. The service gave an impression of maintaining distance as there was no guidance to the room or send-off. From the entrance, the natural light and greenery visible through the large windows were wonderful. The views from the room, open-air bath in the large public bath, and restaurant were also spectacular. I strolled around the garden and terrace; it felt like being in Ubud, Bali—very relaxing. The room had plenty of complimentary drinks and L'Occitane amenities prepared. I particularly liked the lemongrass-scented body soap in the large public bath. The open-air bath surrounded by forest sounds and birdsong was truly exceptional. The restaurant offered a spacious atmosphere where meals could be enjoyed leisurely. Since it served my favorite French cuisine style, every dish was delicious until the end. As they ran out of decaf coffee, I requested herbal tea instead—it came fresh in a teapot with a lovely aroma. The staff who attended during breakfast and dinner spoke fluent Japanese with a warm smile that left a positive impression. For breakfast, I chose grilled swordfish marinated in yuuan sauce—a boneless fish that tasted delightful. Although I'm not fond of buffets generally, their half-buffet style worked well for me; each dish was carefully presented in small bowls which made almost everything enjoyable to eat. I appreciated details like an onsen mark stamped on soft-boiled eggs—a charming touch—and desserts served in small portions allowed me to taste everything; especially loved their pudding! However disappointing was perhaps how plain white rice tasted—possibly due to sitting too long after cooking? While understanding challenges around sourcing premium rice nowadays—I hope improvements can be made here! Other than this minor issue regarding rice quality—it’s overall an excellent hotel experience!

    The Perfect Accommodation

    This was our first stay at the Hotel for a surprise trip to celebrate my mother's 77th birthday. The staff warmly greeted us even though we arrived early, and it immediately became clear why this Hotel is so beloved. From the moment we entered, the stunning greenery caught our eyes, and the Room was of exceptional quality. The bath offered breathtaking views from the large public bath area, and we could also relax comfortably in our Room. The meals were both creatively surprising and delicious. In every way, this Hotel exceeded expectations in the best possible sense. It was truly a remarkable place—we will definitely return!

    For a 60th birthday celebration

    We stayed for one night to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday. The four of us (adults) had a wonderful experience, with excellent facilities and staff. The food was all delicious, and we could feel the attention to detail in the ingredients and tableware. We were so glad we chose this Hotel for such a special occasion. On our way home, we talked about how we'd love to stay here again with our children, so we'll definitely be back!

    The creative dishes ...

    The creative dishes were all surprising, making it hard to imagine them just by looking at the menu, which made for a great conversation starter. They were delicious. I got a bit lost at the entrance as I didn't realize I had to cross the tracks, but it's a large Hotel.

    Room for improvement

    For the past few years, I have been staying at accommodations costing over 50,000 yen per night once a year to have a relaxing conversation with two busy friends. At this level of accommodation, it was the first time there were no welcome drinks or small treats upon arrival (felt indifferent), and the check-in process was no different from that of a business hotel. For three guests, one person had to use a futon on the floor, but there was no explanation about this at check-in. The futon was neither laid out nor cleared until we contacted the front desk. The floor in the room's washbasin area seemed hollow as footsteps echoed strangely. There were only two mini towels for hand drying in the toilet; it would be better if they provided enough for each guest in different colors. Drinks in the refrigerator were complimentary, but beverages at the restaurant were charged separately (at this price range, all-inclusive options are not uncommon). As taste is subjective, I will refrain from commenting on food flavors. However, during breakfast, there were crumbs left by previous guests on our table and water droplets everywhere due to insufficiently wrung cleaning cloths used by staff. The Western-style breakfast portions were too large to finish; it would be nice if they asked beforehand whether items like heaps of French fries and two sausages served with bread are necessary or not. The fruits provided included pineapple, kiwi, and strawberries—offering something creative like comparing local strawberry varieties could enhance appeal. The staff members were mostly young and friendly with pleasant smiles. The location is excellent—just a 3-minute walk from the station—and offers stunning views overlooking Kinugawa Gorge.

    The room is very nice and clean.

    The room is very nice and clean, but there could be more explanation on how to use the facilities. The hot spring offers a great experience with a wonderful view. Dinner is exceptional, featuring amazing food and excellent service. The staff are very friendly and accommodating.

    Meal Information

    I stayed for one night and two days, and overall, it was a highly satisfying experience. However, one point to note: The foreign staff member at the restaurant provided attentive service, but it seemed challenging for them to explain the dishes in Japanese, making it difficult to fully understand. It might be better if they receive more training or if explanations are included on the menu in advance. The food was delicious, but this aspect stood out as an area for improvement. I look forward to visiting again during a different season!

    Relaxing Accommodation

    I had a very relaxing stay. The L'Occitane skincare set and the welcome message upon arrival lifted my spirits—thank you! There was no need to go out for drinks as delicious wine and beer were available, making it perfect for unwinding after a bath. The interior was stylish, the meals were incredibly delicious, and the gift shop offered many unique items that I enjoyed browsing.

    Dinner

    Stayed for my husband's birthday. The room and bath were clean and comfortable, but the dinner seating was at the counter, sitting side by side, and the staff were coming and going, making it difficult to relax. My husband also looked uncomfortable, and the much-anticipated dinner was very disappointing. I had informed the hotel about the birthday, so... is this just how things are these days? The meal was delicious, but I couldn't really taste it. It was a disappointing time.

    Even if the building is impressive, it must be accompanied by substance...

    The access, location, Onsen, and building facilities are well-designed. Since it is new, it is clean; however, the bed was not flat and had a dip in the center, making it feel like sleeping in a poorly maintained Business Hotel. The service at the reception and restaurant was not refined and felt lackluster. This does not seem to be the fault of individual staff members but rather a lack of proper training. At the restaurant, children were running around and shouting loudly, making it feel like dining in a family restaurant. It was a disappointing situation where even having a conversation was difficult. The children are not to blame; this is an issue with the Hotel's organization. Given that the restaurant has sufficient space, it should be possible to arrange seating more thoughtfully or serve meals in a way that keeps children engaged—things that attentive Hotels typically do as a matter of course. Unfortunately, none of this was done, and the trip did not provide the relaxing, extraordinary experience we were hoping for.

    Very satisfied!

    I stayed at the Property to celebrate a family member's birthday. I consulted in advance about ingredients we couldn't eat, and on the day, we were able to enjoy everything deliciously. The birthday star was delighted, and I also had a wonderful time, creating the best memories. The Room was clean and truly amazing. I am deeply grateful to the staff and chefs for their kind and attentive support, even before our stay, despite their busy schedules. I would definitely love to stay again.

    It was a wonderful stay.

    I decided to take a winter trip by train instead of by car and chose this place, which I had been curious about for some time. The train arrived quite early, but I was allowed to wait until everything was ready. I purchased coffee and canelé to take out, and while watching the snow outside, I was called and entered the room. The room had a private open-air bath on the balcony facing the valley, was comfortable, the large public bath was clean, the sommelier provided a detailed guide on drinks for dinner, and breakfast included a variety of dishes, fresh salad, and egg dishes. It was a one-night stay with direct arrival and departure, but it was the perfect stay to relax slowly. The accommodation fee is a bit luxurious, but it is well worth it. I will visit again.

    We had a wonderful anniversary!

    We stayed here on Christmas Eve, which is our anniversary. Thank you for preparing a gift and assisting with the surprise for our special day. The next morning, we were touched by the thoughtful gesture of a Christmas gift hanging on the Room doorknob. The food was delicious, and we enjoyed both the large public bath and the private open-air bath in our Room. The private open-air bath had a wonderful view, and we appreciated the partition as it was quite open. We would love to stay here again if we have the opportunity.

    It was the best staycation.

    The room with an open-air Onsen was well-equipped, with a wide selection of drinks, which was great as I wanted to relax in the room. There are no spa services like esthetics or massages, so it's recommended for those who want to stay in the room. In the end, I didn't use the large public bath and enjoyed the open-air Onsen in the room multiple times. I wish there were more bath towels in the room. I had meals both at night and in the morning, and I was satisfied. Japanese breakfast is recommended. If your goal is to relax in the room and enjoy the Onsen, it was perfect. I will definitely stay again.

    The charm of a sophisticated Hotel with Onsen that lets you feel nature

    The mountain range and the murmuring of the river can be seen from the room. As a hotel with an open-air bath, we were able to fully appreciate the natural beauty of the Kinugawa Valley. The rooms, including the facilities, are well-equipped with drinks, and the intention to let guests feel nature in a relaxed atmosphere is evident throughout. The dinner also offered dishes reminiscent of the Kinugawa Valley and nature, which we enjoyed. Keisui-san is originally a members-only hotel with open-air baths in all rooms, not an onsen ryokan. Therefore, meals are taken in casual clothes rather than in-house wear according to the rules. I think it's nice to occasionally enjoy a meal while dressing up a bit. I felt that the large public bath also creates an extraordinary space by deliberately suppressing colors and light. The staff maintained an appropriate distance while responding with smiles in various situations, which was very satisfying. I hope this wonderful hotel will continue to be maintained and developed. This was my first visit, but it has become one of the hotels I want to visit again in a different season. Thanks to everyone involved with this hotel. Recommended for those who want to spend time in a sophisticated onsen hotel while feeling nature.

    Everything was great!

    I liked the interior of the facility and the calm decor of the Room. There were many buttons for the room lighting, which made it difficult to dim (laughs). The open-air bath is convenient as it automatically fills with water at the right temperature! The large public bath had a calm atmosphere, allowing me to enjoy it at leisure. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious. I'm not fond of abalone, but I enjoyed it with the bagna cauda sauce.

    Balance with price

    The facilities inside and outside the building were excellent for the price. Since everything was still new and not worn out, and there were no obvious inbound tourists, the stay was very calm and relaxing. However, regarding the food, although there was attention to detail such as warming the plates before serving, the quality left me feeling full but not entirely satisfied, as the cost performance felt low. There were no complaints about the human service.

    Child-friendly

    This was our first stay in Kinugawa with children. We chose this property because it has clean water facilities and an onsen in the room. The property is new and the cleaning is thorough, so we had a very comfortable stay. There are insects, but being in nature, it didn't bother us much. There are amenities for children, and the indoor wear is cute. The restaurant was delicious for both children and adults, and we were very satisfied. A lot of Tochigi ingredients were used, which was great. The presentation was also enjoyable. The main dish can be upgraded and the ingredients can be changed, so it's nice to decide based on the mood of the day. We chose Western-style breakfast, and the volume was amazing! It was almost unnecessary to take from the buffet. The soup and small dishes were especially delicious. The shampoo in the room has a unique scent, so it was helpful to have additional amenities provided. It was such a wonderful hotel that there was nothing else that concerned us.
