Because the entrance, front desk/shop, and elevators are all located in a small area, it can be difficult to pass through when it is crowded. The ceiling is also low and feels cramped. The staff seemed inexperienced and did not smile. It did not feel relaxing and felt heavy and oppressive.

The Ideal Hotel for Sightseeing in the Okazaki Area

Because the hospitality at ROKU was outstanding, I wanted to stay at a Tokyu Hotel again, so this was my first time staying here. As expected, there were many international tourists, but perhaps because it was a weekend, there were also many Japanese families. For the courtyard footbath, I wondered if it might be better to switch to a cool foot soak in this season. Also, having something to dry your feet (paper towels or similar) would make it much easier to use. We were assigned a top-floor Room overlooking the courtyard. Although it was a bit far from the elevator, it was comfortable with a great view. The Tsujiri tea in the tea box was delicious, and I was very happy to receive some as part of the Diamond benefit as well. The children’s pajamas matching the adults’, packed in a mini backpack, were adorable. We stayed in an Executive Room, but there wasn’t a free minibar and I didn’t feel there was any particular amenity upgrade either. If you’re fine with slightly less space, downgrading still seems like excellent value. At breakfast there were a few groups waiting before opening, but the buffet area never felt constantly crowded and refills kept up well. Even though it’s on B1F, there is a small garden area; we were seated by it and could enjoy breakfast feeling refreshed from the morning. I had been looking forward to the Kuroge Wagyu shabu-shabu, but most of the meat in my first bowl looked like scraps or torn pieces—so I thought “Huh?” Watching the service, they repeatedly scooped from the bottom of the pot and even served pieces that didn’t seem up to standard; continuing without properly skimming scum also felt questionable. I didn’t want to leave disappointed, so once another staff member took over I ordered another serving—and this time there were three larger slices that tasted so good it felt like an entirely different dish (I’m glad I asked for more!). The dashimaki tamago and rice supervised by Gihachiro Hachidaime Gihei were delicious; however some simmered dishes were cold. I’d love to see more warm items overall—even if that means reducing the variety of bread. This ended up being long-winded, but overall your hospitality was excellent and consistently reliable. Thank you for accommodating my various requests. With attractions like a zoo and museums within walking distance, it’s an ideal base for sightseeing—and when I spend time in the Okazaki area again, I’ll be back. The complimentary Shuttle Service between JR Kyoto Station is also extremely helpful; I hope you will continue offering it.

    We had a relaxing stay.

Thank you for taking care of us for two nights. We were able to enjoy the night viewing and sightseeing in Kibune. It was extremely hot and we were sweating every day, so we used the coin laundry three times, but an error occurred on the third time and it took extra time. The staff handled it appropriately. I will lower the Facility rating by one star. Thank you very much. Also, you honored the IKYU Diamond benefits as well. Some hotels try to dodge them, so I appreciated it. It was a Hotel that made us feel at ease.

I stayed here with my mother. We stayed for two nights, and we truly appreciated the complimentary upgrade from a Superior Twin Room to a Deluxe Room. We enjoyed having beer at the restaurant, soaking in the foot bath, and chatting with American tourists—it was such a happy, relaxing time. The Room was clean, luxurious, and very calming. The bathroom was spacious as well, so I could fully stretch out and soak comfortably. Everything we needed was provided—no complaints at all. The staff were kind, and their greetings were warm and pleasant. I would love to stay again. Thank you very much.

Great value for money. A quiet stay.

All the staff were kind and welcoming, and their gentle service made me very happy. The room had tasteful, chic decor, was quiet, and the large bath felt like a luxury. Breakfast was delicious as well—I was extremely satisfied. It’s a bit of a walk from the station, but it was great for a peaceful stay.

    aaa!!!

    The staff are wonderful.

I stayed here for a friend’s birthday, and every staff member fully supported our surprise plan—it was a truly heartwarming Hotel. The Room decorations were even more wonderful than I imagined, and I’m sincerely grateful. I definitely want to come again!! Thank you so much!!!

    Excellent value for money.

The location is about a 5-minute walk from Higashiyama Subway Station. It’s about 700 yen by taxi from Gion. We had dinner in Gion, but you can also take a relaxing walk along the river to get there. From the Room window, you can see the torii gate of Heian Shrine and part of the Kyocera Museum of Art. Breakfast is especially delicious, with a buffet menu supervised by Tsujiri and Hachidaime Gihei. Western options are also available, so we used it for a Plan where we ate a hearty breakfast, enjoyed street food for lunch, took a break at the Hotel after lots of walking, and then had dinner in Gion. Amenities and loungewear are provided as well, so you can relax comfortably. A shuttle bus runs between Kyoto Station and the Hotel once an hour, which is very convenient.

    Convenient Location

We stayed here to coincide with the Miyako Odori. It’s within walking distance, and close to Higashiyama Station, making it a very convenient location. Our Room had only a shower booth and there is no large public bath, so my bath-loving husband was a little disappointed about that, but it’s still one of the Hotels we’d like to stay at again.

    The breakfast was delicious.

A quiet, relaxing Hotel in Higashiyama. It is a little away from the downtown area, so it is truly peaceful. The staff in charge of the front desk and breakfast were very courteous, which made our stay very enjoyable. The breakfast was especially delicious: Japanese dishes such as thinly sliced Kyoto vegetable salad, Miyama yuba (tofu skin), pickles with vinegared rice onigiri, udon, and Japanese Black Wagyu shabu-shabu were excellent. For Western options, the yogurt and bread were also very good. If possible, I would be happy to see a wider selection of coffee.

It would be even more convenient if there were a Room suitable for families.

I haven’t confirmed this properly, but I don’t think there is a Room that can accommodate four guests. For a family of four, having to split into two Rooms is a drawback. I’ve stayed here many times, and I believe AWATA, OKAZAKI, and SHIRAKAWA were also set up for two guests. I liked the breakfast when it first opened. After it changed to a buffet style, I stopped using it as often. I always look forward to the tea provided in the Room.

    Satisfied.

I stayed on 3/21. I visit Kyoto every year, but this was the first time staying in this area. The wooden box in the Room with tea items added a stylish Kyoto touch. The loungewear also had a calm design and felt very stylish. It matched Kyoto and the Hotel perfectly. From the Room, the courtyard and garden were incredibly beautiful, and they blended perfectly with the building as well—I was truly impressed. Breakfast: both the taste and presentation were excellent. I was happy that you served a great selection of delicious Kyoto specialties. And when it comes to Kyoto, bread is a must—this was truly delicious too. A staff member informed me in advance that, due to traffic conditions, the bus might take longer than expected for my trip the next day, and I really appreciated that. I switched from the bus to the subway, and I was able to catch my Kintetsu train as planned. Overall, I felt this was a very attentive Hotel in many ways. It’s a Hotel I would like to stay at again.

    This time, with my family.

I stayed on the 4th/5th floor, and this was my first time in this Room type. The Room size made a big difference in the amenities, which was a bit disappointing. The toothbrush was also far too hard. Because the Room faced the road, I noticed some noise. The Shuttle Service between Kyoto Station and the Hotel is convenient, but it was extremely crowded and ran quite late. However, there were announcements at both the station and the Hotel, so I could wait without feeling anxious. Since this Hotel became Pan Pacific, there seem to be more inbound guests, and manners on the Shuttle Service have noticeably declined. Even today, despite many people boarding, no one addressed passengers taking up seats with their luggage. Phone calls on board and strong odors (perfume) were also unpleasant and made me feel unwell. There used to be towels provided for the courtyard foot bath—since when did they stop?

    Breakfast is amazing!

Thank you for taking care of us for 3 days and 2 nights. The Room design was lovely, and with the high ceiling it felt spacious and open. The tea provided in the Room was delicious, and it paired well with the Japanese sweets we bought while sightseeing. The bath was large enough to stretch out in, which helped relieve travel fatigue. The provided body soap had a wonderful scent, and my skin felt smooth after bathing. Is the hot water from the shower and faucets dechlorinated? It felt very nice. One point about the bath: there was no bath chair or similar seat in the washing area, so we had to wash while standing. My mother, who has just turned 50, seemed to find it hard on her back. Also, since it was my mother and two daughters staying together, our getting-ready times overlapped. We were saying that even if there is only one sink, a wider horizontal mirror (rather than a tall vertical one that no one can really use at the top) plus an additional outlet would make it easier for women—who often need more time—to get ready at the same time. Breakfast was so delicious that I wondered if it was really okay to have something this good in the morning—I was already full from the start of our trip. My favorites were Kuroge Wagyu shabu-shabu, sakura udon (is it seasonal?), white rice, Saikyo-yaki fish, chicken breast marinated in Saikyo miso (?), and dashimaki tamago. On the other hand, only the coffee didn’t suit my taste very much. Is it an affordable large-volume type? There is some inconsistency in staff service. Those who are truly friendly are wonderful, but with others I sometimes felt uncomfortable. I kept it to myself at the time, thinking they might have been too busy. Having a free shuttle bus between Kyoto Station and the Hotel was truly helpful.

    Delicious breakfast!

The shuttle bus made it easy to get around smoothly without dealing with crowds. Breakfast was delicious, with great care put into each item—shabu-shabu, rolled omelet, obanzai dishes, and plenty of pickles—so we were very satisfied. We would like to stay again.

    This is my second stay.

On our previous stay, all the staff were very pleasant, and we felt it was a quiet, relaxing Hotel. The shuttle bus from the station was also extremely helpful, so we booked again believing this Hotel would be a safe and comfortable choice for our two mothers in their 80s. Because they were tired from an unfamiliar trip, they ended up spending a lot of time in the Room. We truly appreciated the Room upgrade—it helped us so much. Thanks to Higashiyama Tokyu Hotel, they were able to rest well and it became a wonderful trip with great memories. I couldn’t say thank you at check-out, so I’m writing it here. Thank you very much. I rated the Facility as 4 only because, if I had to mention something, the elevator felt a bit slow. It’s not a major issue, but I noted it just in case.

    It was comfortable.

This was about my third stay, and although it’s not far from Gion in Kyoto, the area is very quiet, so I had a comfortable stay. The Room has a calm interior, and the breakfast is delicious, with Kyoto-style pickles and more. The subway station is also nearby, and the shuttle bus to Kyoto Station is very helpful. I visited in November and was able to enjoy the autumn foliage season while avoiding the crowds.

I was soothed by the footbath.

The garden was beautiful, and the footbath was very relaxing. The tea provided in the guest room was so delicious that I drank it all quickly. The sweets were also delightful. However, it was a bit disappointing to find a piece of adhesive film trash on the carpet near the table.

    Modern Japanese Style

I stayed here for the first time as I had work at a nearby venue. When I arrived in the evening, my large bag was wet from the rain, and the staff kindly wiped it down with two towels. I truly appreciated this thoughtful gesture. The guest room had a serene "Japanese" atmosphere with abundant use of wood and an impressive dark-toned design. Unlike standard rooms with white as the main color, everything from the furnishings to amenities was beautifully coordinated, exuding elegance and relaxation. The provided tea and matcha wafers were both from Gion Tsujiri. The tea, in particular, was so aromatic that it didn’t feel like a typical teabag; I even ended up buying some along with the wafers as souvenirs! The cosmetics and shampoo had a subtle fragrance and were easy to use, with all essentials provided. The bathroom setup included separate bath and toilet areas, featuring a spacious washing area that was very comfortable. The entire room felt new and impeccably clean. Although my stay was short, I enjoyed a very relaxing time here.

    Had a great trip!

The staff were very kind and attentive from the moment we arrived until check-out. The Room was clean, and they kindly changed our reservation to a Room with a separate bath and toilet, which was very helpful as we were traveling with an elderly person. The location is perfect for exploring the Higashiyama area, and the breakfast buffet was delicious. We had a wonderful trip. Thank you very much!

    Thank you.

The shuttle bus was a great help in the intense heat, and the driver was kind and attentive, which left a lasting impression. We were touched by the 3rd-anniversary discount and complimentary wine. The garden, building, and Room were all clean and well-maintained. The Room was fully equipped with amenities! The shower provided hot water instantly, making it very refreshing—perfect after sightseeing and enjoying drinks before returning. Breakfast was delicious with a wide variety of options, complemented by excellent Facilities. Overall, this trip turned out to be truly satisfying. Thank you very much!

    A recently rebranded Hotel

The room faced Sanjo Street, with a building across the road, and the street noise was loud. Rooms of a lower rank do not face the road—was this a design flaw? The plan included breakfast, but there was no explanation about meals at check-in. I had to confirm the time with the male front desk staff myself. Recently, some hotels don’t provide breakfast coupons, so I assumed that was the case. However, when I went to the restaurant the next morning, everyone else handed in their breakfast coupons! When I gave my room number to the staff member in charge, they showed me something indicating breakfast details and said it would be ○○○○ yen per person! I explained that I had reserved a plan including breakfast but felt very uncomfortable as there were many people waiting behind me. In the end, there was no apology for this mishap either at breakfast or during checkout. Since switching from Tokyu to an international chain brand, it seems like operations are not running smoothly. It left me with an unpleasant experience overall.

Experience the spirit of hospitality at our Hotel!

It was amazing! First of all, the staff's attentiveness was outstanding. The room was clean and comfortable, with a firm bed that felt perfect for my tired body after walking. The stone-patterned tiles in the bathroom were calming. The nightwear was incredibly comfortable. The tea set, unlike trendy coffee machines, gave a cozy feeling. The shuttle service between Kyoto Station and the hotel is excellent! Although city buses on Sunday were packed like sardines, I could sit comfortably during the shuttle ride. Breakfast included famous Kyoto delicacies like sausages and yuba, which made it highly satisfying. The room, meals, garden... overall, I felt this hotel values the serene atmosphere of Higashiyama and cherishes time itself. Lastly, thank you for your kind and detailed responses to my inquiries via email before my stay. I will definitely visit again—thank you so much!

Before you know it, at Pan Pacific.

This is my fourth stay at this Property. The Room is spacious and user-friendly, making it very satisfying for enjoying a Hotel stay. However, I would like the cleaning of the bathroom on the second day to be more thorough. The breakfast experience has diminished quite a bit compared to the first time, but it's still okay. The first experience was so good that it feels a bit disappointing now. It seems there are new staff members, and one of them accidentally hit my relatively new suitcase quite hard, which left me feeling a bit upset. It seemed unnoticed and was ignored. The bed is wide and very comfortable, but the pillow is not great. I borrowed a bath chair again this time. When I turned off the lights, the humidifier also turned off, so I had to use another outlet to keep it running. Even so, the dryness during winter was severe. This Property is conveniently located with access to buses and other transportation, making it my go-to place. I hope to stay here again, but the significant price increase for the suite Rooms is quite extreme.
