  We stayed in Nara on...

  We stayed in Nara on our way back from Wakayama. We made a reservation without researching the place called Tawaramoto, but it turned out to be a very lovely land and property. Despite our late check-in, we were given a detailed room guide amidst their busy schedule. The restaurant had a very calming atmosphere, and the menu was interesting. It seems they grow a variety of vegetables nearby, and each dish made the most of the ingredients, making them delicious. The peanut tofu was excellent. The visit to Muraya Shrine the next morning was a wonderful time, with refreshing air and a detailed talk about its history. We could feel the owners' passion for the property, and the hotel had a dignified atmosphere. I felt that this is a hotel for adults to spend a relaxing and quiet time. Next time, I want to visit Nara just to stay at this hotel.

  It feels like you've touched a part of Japanese history!

  I started visiting Nara a few years ago to avoid the crowds in Kyoto. I was satisfied with the comfort of Nara, but wanted to experience a deeper side of it, so I stayed for one night at Maruto Shoyu. It was more comfortable than I imagined, and I had a rare experience. Even though it was a renovated old soy sauce brewery, it was a completely comfortable stay. The soy sauce pressing experience and the morning visit and walk to Muraya Shrine were particularly moving. The passion for soy sauce and the brewery, the climate and traditions of Nara that have continued since ancient times, and the pleasant stories from the owner himself touched my heart. The meals were of high satisfaction, with quality ingredients skillfully prepared and various uses of soy sauce that further enhanced the dishes. I was very satisfied with the high hospitality of everyone working there, including the owner. I would like to visit again in a different season. (I think I can get there without getting lost next time! Haha)

  Feel the history

  This is a soy sauce Stays. The menu is unique, listing types of soy sauce instead of ingredients. You'll be convinced by the variety of soy sauces available. The rooms, reminiscent of soy sauce brewing warehouses from the Edo to Meiji periods, are unlike any other, and the absence of a TV adds to the tranquility. It's quiet and refreshing.

  It was very good.

  We stayed at the property with my mother to celebrate my father's 88th birthday. Both my father and mother are getting older and have weaker legs, making it difficult for them to travel far, but they still have a strong appetite. We were looking for a place not too far from home, on flat land, where we could relax and enjoy delicious food, and we found this property. It was the perfect property for my father, who has a wide range of interests such as antiques, traditional Japanese houses, Japanese gardens, tea, flower arrangement, tea rooms, and calligraphy. The soy sauce course meal was impressive, showcasing the greatness of soy sauce in enhancing local vegetables and rice, and everything was beautiful. At the end of the meal, a plate celebrating his 88th birthday was prepared, and everyone celebrated with us. During the morning visit before breakfast, guided by the owner, we strolled through the pleasantly cool autumn air with a slight morning mist, listening to the owner's calm and polite narration, feeling as if we had time-traveled to ancient Yamato. The owner answered various questions with explanations that exceeded our expectations, and we felt his deep affection for Tahara. We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect, including the exterior, room interior, meals, and hospitality.

  It was a wonderful experience.

  Maruto Soy Sauce, a property converted from an old soy sauce warehouse. Staying in the retro building, as if time slipped, was truly wonderful. The food was delicious, and the stories during the soy sauce pressing and morning location tours were very interesting. It was a trip that made me realize the greatness of Japan once again.   The property, food, and service were all very good!

  Staying at a soy sauce brewery... I wondered what that would be like, and it turned out to be an even more wonderful property than I had imagined. The food was also very delicious! I also experienced soy sauce pressing, and the stories were very interesting. If you have time, I recommend trying it out.
