  Creations inspired by plum motifs can be seen throughout, and the comfort of walking barefoot on the tatami-lined corridors, along with the faintly fragrant pleasant aroma, made it an exceptionally comfortable Stays. However, as it has a long maze-like structure that seems to stretch about 100 meters sideways, it might be challenging for elderly guests with mobility issues.

  Cost performance

  During this trip, we stayed at two places in Oita within the same price range, and in comparison, Umehibiki had a significant difference in the smartness of customer service by the staff, making it seem like the Facility was not being fully utilized.

  Stayed in a room wit...

  Stayed in a room with an open-air bath. The view of Hibiki Mountain from the room bath was spectacular. Was something being smoked? Unfortunately, the smell of smoke drifted to the open-air bath in the room, which was disappointing. The food was delicious, but the interval between dishes being served was very slow.

Although we do not conduct smoking at our facility, we are surrounded by nature, and insects are attracted to light, so we use mosquito coils as a countermeasure, which might have caused the smoke.   2 nights in a Japanese-Western style Room with an open-air bath in Nantaka

  I stayed for two nights in a Japanese-Western style room with an open-air bath at Nantaka. On the morning of the first day, when I tried to enter the open-air bath in the room, I was surprised to find it was cold water. I might catch a cold! I was informed that the temperature could not be adjusted here and that it could only be controlled remotely by the front desk, but I never expected it to be water. I called the front desk several times, but no one answered (from around 7 a.m. continuously), so I had no choice but to go to the distant public bath. I am very disappointed as I had reserved a room with an open-air bath. After returning, I finally got through to the front desk, and they said they would adjust the temperature, but it took more than an hour for the water to warm up. So, I couldn't enter immediately. There was hardly any apology either. On the second night, the water was warm as it was kept on, so I believe the water was turned off on the first day. There was no apology even at checkout, which is very disappointing. Please consider why I reserved a room with an open-air bath!

We conduct a final check before check-in and also during your stay, but this time, due to some reason, the boiler's power was turned off during the night, causing the temperature to drop in the morning. Furthermore, we apologize again for the inconvenience caused by the fact that you were unable to reach us despite contacting the front desk. Additionally, we failed to adequately share information about this incident within our team, resulting in insufficient apologies to you, for which we are truly sorry.   The view from the terrace is amazing.

  I went to Hita because I wanted to stay at Umehibiki again after several years. It was as wonderful as ever. Being able to walk barefoot inside the facility is truly the best. The room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. Also, all the staff were kind and courteous, which was amazing. Both dinner and breakfast were very delicious. The view from the room, full of nature, was breathtaking. I was able to soak in the hot spring and relieve my daily fatigue. If I have another opportunity, I would definitely like to stay again. Thank you very much.

  Very good ryokan!

  I have been using this place since last year, and this time, I stayed with my family to celebrate my mother's retirement! Some parts of the inn have been renovated. The bedrock bath was at just the right temperature for me, and it was nice to spend time enjoying the view outside. Also, the hot spring was amazing! The reclining bath was my absolute favorite! The meals were a kaiseki course featuring Oita Wagyu beef, and my mother and father were very satisfied! The room was also clean, and I felt that the cleaning was thorough! Plus, the view from the room was fantastic! And above all, the staff working at the inn were very accommodating! Their customer service was, of course, excellent, but what was most impressive was their constant smiles! This is my favorite inn! I will definitely use it again!! Thank you very much!!

  We stayed there for our wedding anniversary.

  We stayed for our 25th wedding anniversary. Since we wanted to relax as a couple, we chose a deluxe room with an open-air bath. I was surprised to find no slippers inside the facility and had to go barefoot, but it was refreshing. The room was a spacious and calm Japanese-modern style. The open-air bath in the room had a great view and was quiet. It was really pleasant to soak while listening to the birds chirping. Meals were served in a private room for both breakfast and dinner. Even the standard meal was more than enough for us in our 50s. The dishes were elaborate and elegant. The flavors made the most of the ingredients, and we enjoyed them very much. As it was our anniversary, they gifted us plum wine as a celebration. We were very touched by their thoughtfulness. All the staff were very pleasant, and we were really glad we chose this inn. It became a wonderful memory. Thank you very much. Next time, I would like to come with my daughter.
