We enjoyed many things, including the cuisine, the Room, and sightseeing.
We stayed as a couple in our early senior years. We thoroughly enjoyed both dinner and breakfast. At dinner, the eel (especially the skin), the ayu wrapped and baked in brick pastry, and the low-temperature cooked fillet were particularly memorable. At breakfast, the galette was especially delicious. The portions were just right, and even my wife—who usually cannot finish everything—managed to eat all the way through to the final warabi mochi this time. Our Room was a semi-suite with plenty of space, and we spent a very comfortable stay. My wife especially loved the refined beauty of the bath walls and the tatami flooring in the toilet area. However, we did notice some noise from the air conditioning (it seemed to be central heating rather than an in-room unit) during the night. A river with quite a strong flow ran beneath the window of one of your smoking rooms. Next time, we would love to stay in a riverside Room. The day after our stay, we headed to Senjojiki Cirque, and it was very helpful that you allowed us to leave our car parked in your Accommodation’s parking lot. Thank you very much.

I’m unable to leave a review.
The Room was dark and had a musty smell, so I couldn’t relax. It’s also hard to say the food was good, and I’m not sure it was worth the Accommodation Fee.

Buckwheat Galette for Chilly Spring Days — Accommodation in Ina
This is a stateless auberge created by renovating a luxury Japanese-style Ryokan, with distinctive furniture, interiors, and cuisine. It seems the property has undergone rebranding. Both the Accommodation’s presentation and the meals make inventive use of premium ingredients. The Room is spacious enough overall, though perhaps due to the limits of renovation, some areas felt a bit tight. The lighting is calm and subdued, but I found it slightly inconveniently dim. A scenic bath that can be fully opened toward the garden. The faucet design may be misleading, but a constant amount of Onsen water flows continuously 24 hours a day, and you can heat the water in the tub to your preference. It’s a great place to spend quiet time in lush natural surroundings. The cuisine is elaborate and delicious, with pairings prepared for both wine and sake, though I felt preferences may vary for either option. Seating is at tables with partitions set up in an elegant tatami-floored grand hall decorated with stylish interiors.

The food is delicious, and the Onsen leaves your skin silky smooth.
We stayed during Golden Week. The cuisine was creative and truly delicious; after dinner, the head chef came to greet us, and we also enjoyed a late-night snack. We were satisfied with everything—the fish dishes, the meat dishes, and even the soba to finish. The Room had a calm Asian-inspired style, and we were able to relax at our leisure. The in-room Onsen was also wonderful and left our skin silky smooth. Since it was in the Room, we ended up bathing about four times in total. We would love to stay again in autumn.

We were very satisfied.
It had been a while, but I’m glad I went. The welcome sweets were delicious—I would have loved to buy them as souvenirs if they were for sale. The meals were a delight both visually and in taste, the service was excellent, and the Onsen left my skin silky smooth. I was very satisfied.

A Wonderful Time
As it was the snowy season, the entrance and parking area were a bit hard to find, but a staff member came out to help us. The Room had been renovated in a very modern style while keeping the best features of a Japanese-style room, so we stayed very comfortably. We also enjoyed the intriguing “soba French” cuisine. It was an Accommodation that made us want to stay one more night.

There was a wonderful Facility in a remote area.
There are many excellent accommodations, but few with an outstanding chef. This accommodation offers lodging and dinner for only six guests per day. Take the time and money to visit this uniquely named auberge, Tokisumika.

Japanese-style Auberge
This was my first visit, and I didn't expect such a wonderful auberge—it truly exceeded my expectations. The traditional Japanese house has been stylishly renovated, the room was beautiful and clean, and I was impressed by the thorough heating system that kept us warm in the chilly mountain area. Above all, Chef Nakaji's cuisine was outstanding—delicious from appetizers to desserts. I've traveled to many places before, but this is the first time I've encountered such exceptional food on a trip. The Onsen in our room was also flowing directly from the source, and we enjoyed it multiple times; though it’s a bit unfortunate that the washing area felt slightly narrow. After dinner, they even provided delicious soba noodles as a late-night snack—everything was so thoughtful—and at checkout, we received souvenirs as well! We were amazed by their heartfelt hospitality; even my husband couldn’t believe how far they went to make our stay special. We would love to visit again someday—thank you very much!

I was not aware of t...
I was not aware of this accommodation at all, but I was intrigued by the phrase "Soba French Kaiseki" that I happened to see and decided to include it in my autumn vacation itinerary for enjoying the autumn leaves. Upon arrival, we had to wait quite a while before being shown to our room, which made me wonder if there was a staff shortage. However, everything went smoothly afterward, and my concerns were unfounded. The room felt much smaller than I had imagined and wasn't very practical. However, I could see some thoughtful touches here and there. The room was quite dim (we managed because we had requested reading lights and extension cords in advance), so those who are concerned about lighting might want to bring additional lamps or similar items for peace of mind. Also, the area near the window transmitted cold air from outside, making it quite chilly; we needed both the air conditioner and a gas fan heater. The bath was supposedly an onsen; however, the water flow was minimal, and what little onsen water came out felt almost as cold as regular water. Constant reheating was necessary, which completely diminished any sense of an onsen experience—this aspect was very disappointing. That said, during our stay, the autumn foliage around the accommodation reached its peak beauty. We visited Isawa Onsen–Shosenkyo Gorge–Lake Suwa–Komagane–Tenryu Gorge during this trip; however, the view of autumn leaves from this accommodation's garden turned out to be the most stunning sight of all. The vibrant mix of red-orange-yellow-green hues created an absolutely breathtaking landscape. As for meals—they lived up to their reputation for excellence! Fusion cuisine can often be hit-or-miss but here every dish—from ingredient combinations to cooking methods—was executed perfectly. The "Ibuki Salmon Mi-Cuit" and Shinshu Premium Beef fillet were especially outstanding; having tried countless branded Wagyu fillets before now—I believe this one stood out as possibly being among softest cuts with unparalleled flavor! Unfortunately though due partly due-to small appetites neither myself nor companion could finish everything served despite wanting-to savor each item fully—including soba-inari offered later-night snack likewise breakfast featuring steak galette apple-pie—all delicious yet overwhelming portions left bittersweet feelings behind... If only minor issues like lack vegetables slower service times improved—it’d become place worth revisiting solely dining experiences alone!

Decided to revisit! Who knew Komagane City, Nagano Prefecture, was such a wonderful place?
An auberge offering a unique Soba French Kaiseki experience caught my attention, so I made a reservation. After missing the small "Kisumika" sign on the main road and making a U-turn (special thanks to the kind lady who guided me to the parking lot), I finally arrived. The room I was shown to was Room 104, "Suisen." It featured a 10-tatami mat Japanese-style room with twin beds and a semi-open-air bath made of Shigaraki ware. While there is no large public bath, you can enjoy the natural hot spring water of Hataaro Onsen directly in your room. Dinner was the much-anticipated "Soba French Kaiseki," paired with an excellent selection of sake that perfectly complemented each dish. - The meal began with flavorful "Soba Dumplings" served with powdered olive oil and topped luxuriously with caviar. - The "Quiche" made from boiled peanuts and black edamame had wine vinegar drizzled over it—an 8-year-aged vinegar that was delightfully mellow. - The "Ibuki Salmon Mi-Cuit" paired beautifully with cauliflower coulis, sesame, and wasabi. - The marinated “Japanese Venison” in two-year-aged miso had vibrant red meat that melted gently in your mouth. - The bitterness of wild ayu liver in the “Ayu Bisque” was irresistible, accompanied by parsnip coulis. - For the main course: “Shinshu Premium Beef Charcoal Grilled,” enhanced by morel mushrooms (French-imported) and Madeira wine sauce. After cleansing our palate with “Soba Tea Granita,” we enjoyed freshly prepared “100% Buckwheat Soba.” Interestingly, soba-yu (hot water used for boiling soba) service came after finishing soba—a refreshing twist on tradition. Desserts included Mont Blanc cake (surprisingly large), Tonka Bean Ice Cream, Authentic Warabi Mochi, and Soba Macarons—perfect for those who save space for dessert! Despite being completely full by this point, we were handed take-home “Soba Inari” as an evening snack upon leaving the dining area. Breakfast started off light yet satisfying: choose from three drinks before enjoying dishes like salad or buckwheat groats soup followed by bite-sized beef filet steak ("Morning Steak"). You could also select between smoked salmon or mushroom-filled buckwheat galette alongside fruits & apple pie desserts—a hearty start indeed! With only a limited number of rooms available at this accommodation facility ensures tranquility throughout its premises while staff members provide attentive care down-to-detail level ensuring memorable stays enriched via exceptional culinary artistry matching seasonal changes worth revisiting again soon ranking high atop personal hotel lists!

Highly satisfied.
We stayed here for the first time as a couple and were extremely satisfied. This unique Japanese-modern accommodation, transformed from a traditional old house into a comfortable and relaxing space, offered an unparalleled experience. The room we stayed in provided a serene view of the Japanese garden, complemented by thoughtfully arranged tables, chairs, bedding, and lighting that created an indescribably tranquil atmosphere. The dinner featuring soba French cuisine was exceptional; the variety of dishes paired perfectly with carefully selected wine and sake. Each pairing left us saying, "This combination is amazing," making our conversation flow effortlessly and creating an incredibly pleasant time together. The attention to detail from the chef and all staff members was evident throughout our stay, making it truly memorable. Thank you very much—we look forward to visiting again!

Couple's Getaway
It was our first time at this accommodation. The autumn leaves were beautiful, and the room with a private open-air bath had wonderfully smooth hot water. The bathroom had two sinks, giving it a luxurious feel, but the overall usability of the space was lacking. In particular, the room with chairs by the window was very narrow and had steps, while the bedroom was spacious but awkwardly arranged with a sofa we didn’t end up using. The soba kaiseki meal was delicious; however, it took quite some time for dishes to start arriving, leaving us waiting for a while. Considering the number of guests, having only two servers seemed insufficient and left us feeling frustrated from waiting too long. The soba galette served in the morning tasted too bland for us, and we were surprised to see beef fillet served so early in the day—it felt out of place for such high-end accommodation.

Wine and Sake Pairing
The wine and sake pairing focused on local products, but unfortunately, it did not match the delicious dishes. The Onsen was excellent.

Not only was the bathtub in the room great, but having a separate bathroom would have been nice. However, it was perfect for relaxing in the bath. The meals were exceptional, featuring a unique French-style soba kaiseki that delighted both the eyes and taste buds. The staff were kind and helpful, providing a shower chair for my mother and assisting with her wheelchair. This is an accommodation I would love to visit again.

Thank you.
Thank you very much for the other day. As many have mentioned, the Soba French Kaiseki here is simply exquisite for dinner, late-night meals, and breakfast. Considering its location in Komagane, I believe many guests return specifically for these dishes. The Kaiseki cuisine was truly moving. Thank you, Chef Nakaji. Additionally, the service provided by the staff who served us was excellent and added even more charm to the meal, making it a truly pleasant experience. Thank you so much. I rarely write reviews like this, but this time I had such a perfect stay—including the tranquility of the Room—that I wanted to express my gratitude through this post. I apologize to those reading this for not providing specific information.

The food was excellent again this time.
We thoroughly enjoyed the cuisine and the paired sake once again. The Ayu dish served at dinner was especially delightful, prepared in a way we had never experienced before. Although the staff members were all new this time, they were very pleasant and made our stay comfortable. We look forward to visiting again to enjoy your delicious dishes. Thank you very much!

Enjoy Soba to the Fullest
The hot spring water is excellent. After enjoying French-style soba cuisine, soaking in the soft, warm water and relaxing was a truly unique and luxurious experience. However, the dinner duration of 2 hours and 40 minutes felt quite long, to the point where my back started to ache. It went beyond leisurely and felt slightly excessive.

We look forward to further improvements for an even higher level of service.
Thank you for staying with us during your visit to Komagatake Nakadake and Senjojiki Cirque. We are delighted to hear that you found our accommodation, facilities, services, and cuisine to be of a high standard. However, we appreciate your valuable feedback on the following points and will consider them for future improvements. We hope to welcome you back again soon. 1. Bathwater Supply System and Temperature Control Despite not adjusting the faucet or temperature in the indoor bath, both the bathtub and room became excessively hot by morning, making it disappointing for a morning bath on your departure day. - Please ensure a sufficient flow of onsen water is maintained so that temperature can be managed naturally by the onsen itself while allowing normal operation of bathtub controls. 2. Cuisine The dishes were very delicious with creative ideas from our chef. - If possible, incorporating simpler dishes that highlight the natural flavors of ingredients such as sashimi, vegetables, or fruits could further enhance these creative offerings. 3. Closet Lighting (Tanzen Storage) While room lighting was warm and comfortable, brighter lighting inside closets would make it easier to see their contents. We look forward to sharing updates with you as we continue improving our services!

The cuisine is excellent, but...
The concept of Soba French was overall wonderful, including the presentation. However, after the main dish, the dessert included warabi mochi and soba macarons in addition to ice cream and Foret Noire, which felt like too much. With alcohol already consumed, the sweet warabi mochi was a bit overwhelming. There seemed to be a slight gap between the excellence of the room and cuisine compared to the dining experience. Considering the Accommodation Fee, it would have been nice to have a welcome drink service as well.

The bath is nice, but...
1. There is no map indicating the route to the emergency exit in the Room or anywhere in the facility (no verbal explanation either). 2. There are no drink vending machines in the facility (and no convenience stores nearby). 3. The TV in the Room does not even have an NHK-BS subscription. 4. Draft beer is not available on the dinner alcohol menu. 5. Juice (such as orange juice or grapefruit juice) is not available at breakfast. 6. Meals are neither served in private rooms nor semi-private rooms.

It was a very comfortable accommodation!
I visited this accommodation with the purpose of enjoying Soba French cuisine, and it exceeded my expectations. The Soba French course was delicious no matter what I tried, and the wine pairing was exceptional. Additionally, as I requested gluten-free options, the buckwheat waffles served at breakfast were incredibly tasty. The semi-open-air bath in the room was comfortable and convenient to use anytime I wanted. If I had to mention one thing, it would be that a large public bath would have been nice, but the room's bath was more than sufficient.

Exceptional Accommodation and Dining
This is a repeat visit. The impression from my first stay was so wonderful that I decided to return in a different season. What I loved about Kisumika were the Onsen in the room, the creatively crafted soba French cuisine, and the time spent relaxing in the room. Especially for dinner, there was thoughtful consideration for repeat guests with tailored menus, and every dish was delicious. Thank you to the staff for their warm and considerate explanations during service. The layout of the room we stayed in this time included a separate space with a small table and chairs where we enjoyed watching dragonflies flit back and forth over a small stream. Once again, we had an enriching experience here. Although it’s not close by, I’m already thinking about when to visit next!

Room 105
The standard room was well-equipped with both facilities and amenities. There was an unusually large space, possibly due to renovations. The view from the window showcased a green mountainside, which was lovely to see from the bathroom. However, there were many insects, so we couldn't open the windows. Depending on the season, the terrace seating might be enjoyable. There were no flowers outside; it would have been nice to see something like hydrangeas. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious. The staff were kind and attentive, making it overall a wonderful accommodation experience. However, we were disturbed by noise throughout our stay—there was constant thudding above our room's roof that was quite unpleasant. The staff suggested it might have been monkeys, but it reached a level where we wished for a room change. Interestingly, during our two-hour dinner at the dining area, there was no such noise there at all.

Soba-Themed Meal
We arrived a bit early, but we were kindly shown to our room. The Onsen in the ceramic tub in the room was spacious and relaxing, with gentle water that we enjoyed multiple times, leaving our skin smooth and soft. Dinner featured a wide variety of dishes served with an air of luxury, from the plates to the knife rests. Every dish was carefully prepared with refined flavors and presentation. The staff member serving us was very knowledgeable about the cuisine and presented each dish confidently, accompanied by a bright smile that added to the experience. The soba inari provided as a late-night snack was also delicious. Breakfast included a delightful galette that we thoroughly enjoyed. With only a few rooms available, there were hardly any encounters with other guests, offering an exceptional sense of privacy. It was our first time experiencing soba French cuisine, but we were completely captivated by its healthy and gentle flavors combined with diverse seasoning and presentation styles. We would love to visit again during another season!
