    A very good Hotel.

    As expected from the New Otani name, I had a wonderful stay. The breakfast was delicious as well. If I had to ask for more, it would have been perfect with a large public bath, but that’s just my personal wish. The Hotel is unquestionably 5 stars.

    On a Thursday night, it was treated as an arbitrary “special day” for the Hotel’s own event, and I was later told a shocking rate of JPY 68,600 per night. Could you please tell me whether this is TH or HOK in Tokyo?

    An Accommodation Where the Charm of the Past Shines Through

    I stayed at this Accommodation as the destination for a long solo road trip. The exterior and interior have a nostalgic Showa-era atmosphere—there’s even a barbershop inside the Hotel—and it feels like a dignified, classic Hotel from a good old time. Even the low ceilings, typical of older Hotels, felt comforting and relaxing. As for the Room itself, some furnishings do show their age, but everything was well maintained and thoroughly cleaned, which gave me great peace of mind. I used the top-floor restaurant for breakfast; even the retro chairs were carefully cared for, and you can really tell they’re valued and kept in good condition. The bathroom facilities were well maintained and clean, and things like the air conditioner controller had been updated to be easy to use today. And the in-room TV was a 50-inch smart TV—perfectly comfortable for me since I travel with a Fire TV stick. I enjoyed streaming without any cut-off screens late into the night. Because of work I haven’t been able to travel as often lately, but when I finally managed to make time and plan this trip, choosing this Accommodation as my destination was absolutely ideal. Breakfast was as satisfying as others have written—I ate too much. Newly built Hotels are all modern and spotless and tend to grab your attention, but keeping an older Hotel’s furnishings clean, beautiful, safe, and in good condition takes steady behind-the-scenes effort from the staff every day—and that’s when you truly see what hospitality is all about. If I have another chance, I’d love to visit again with staying at this Accommodation as my main purpose. Thank you very much for such a comfortable stay.

    Local overpriced accommodation

    This Hotel is usually booked and paid for through IKYU, but this time the IKYU screen would not allow me to enter the booking even though there was availability on the middle night of a Multiple Night Stay. So, during my stay the previous week, I verbally requested that a front desk staff member reserve that middle night, and they agreed. No Accommodation Fee was communicated, but since it was a 5-night stay I did not think much of it and went to my room. However, when checking out on Wednesday, August 5, I was billed JPY 68,600 for one night at a rate other than IKYU’s. Naturally I was shocked and asked a female front desk staff member to check the rate. After looking it up, she replied that there was no mistake in the charge and that I only felt it was expensive because I always stay at the lower IKYU rate. Although I could not accept this explanation, I paid and left once. After reconsidering—having stayed more than ten times in April, May, and June as well (often at customers’ request)—I find it hard to believe that a local Hotel like this would charge such an amount. It feels as if you are telling me not to come again. In accordance with your wishes, I will refrain from staying here again.

    We stayed as a family trip to visit Amaharashi Coast the day after our stay. Only a smoking Room was available, but no one mentioned any cigarette smell, so it was well handled. At breakfast it wasn’t very crowded, but there was only one toaster, so we had to wait. I think this should be improved. Also, we would be happy if there were complimentary water in the Room.

    Toyama Trip

    I’ve stayed here several times, but I think this was almost my first time staying for sightseeing. I used it because there was a live show in Tonami. The next day, I took the BELL MONTA to Himi. The facilities feel a bit dated, and the bath felt slightly small, but the hospitality was excellent. I had both dinner and breakfast, and as expected, it was true Otani quality. The Room itself was calm and comfortable as well. There are several new hotels near the station now, but if this place improved its facilities—especially the bath—I think it would be perfect. I’ll stay here again when I visit Takaoka.

    13th Floor Guest Rooms

    The toilet paper holder is positioned very poorly, and the towel hook is as well. Their placement should be considered more sensibly. It’s disappointing that an unpleasant layout of bathroom fixtures can make a stay uncomfortable.

    In the Room on the 13th floor, the toilet paper holder is installed in an inconvenient location. Also, the bathroom entrance door hits the stone step in front of the bathtub and does not close properly; trimming the bottom of the door should allow it to close easily. The toilet paper holder could likely be relocated without any major work.

    The plumbing areas in each Room on the 13th floor, as well as the inconvenient door placement, are long overdue for renovation. The key card used to turn on the lights in each Room on the 13th floor is not sufficient with just one card.

    On the day of our stay, we made a last-minute Reservation for the following night, and we really appreciated your consideration in keeping us in the same Room. Breakfast was served in a venue with a great view, and the selection was very good. The dessert pudding was beautifully made and paired perfectly with coffee.

    A calm and elegant atmosphere

    As always, the warm and elegant service made my stay very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious, and I think it’s a pleasant Hotel. The Executive Room had a massage chair, and the bed was very comfortable for a good rest.

    The breakfast was delicious.

    First time in Toyama. We canceled our second night in Nagano and switched to this Hotel because the Room had a massage chair. The Room was compact but clean, allowing us to relax comfortably. Breakfast was served in a cozy space but offered a sufficient variety and was very delicious. Additionally, the staff's efficient and attentive service left a positive impression. As others have mentioned, extra caution is needed at the parking lot entrance/exit, and having to transfer elevators to reach the Room felt inconvenient. In June, we thought we had enjoyed all the fresh seafood Hokkaido and Aomori had to offer, but Toyama's sushi with red snow crab... white shrimp... made us realize two nights were not enough. We hope to visit again in spring!

    I stayed in a twin room with my son. My son usually stays at other hotels, but this time, at my request, we chose Hotel New Otani. We arrived early, and they kindly prepared the room for us in advance. We had lunch at the hotel's Japanese restaurant that we had reserved beforehand. The atmosphere of the Japanese restaurant was lovely, and the staff were very kind. However, the rice in the Seiko crab dish was soggy and not tasty at all. The comforter on the bed was thin with synthetic filling and didn’t stay aligned with the cover sheet, making it difficult to use. Since it was thin, blankets were provided in the closet for colder nights; however, I’m not fond of using blankets. I prefer fluffy down comforters year-round, so unfortunately, I found their bedding unsuitable for me. As for lunch reservations: I made them online through the hotel’s website but wanted to ask some questions directly to staff members at the Japanese restaurant by phone. When calling directly to their number though, it automatically redirected me to a reservation-only line twice without connecting me properly even after asking receptionists for assistance—this felt inconvenient. While all staff members—from front desk personnel to housekeeping and restaurant employees—were incredibly kind and professional overall; due solely toward dissatisfaction regarding bedding preferences specifically repeating another stay seems unlikely from my perspective

    Enjoy a Traditional Toyama Breakfast

    This is my third or fourth stay. The massage chair in the Room does a surprisingly good job. The bed is comfortable, and the overall atmosphere is cozy. For amenities, women's skincare products are available for an additional fee, so it's recommended to bring your own if needed. Breakfast is amazing! You can enjoy a traditional Toyama-style breakfast. The Hotel's original masu sushi is exceptional! You can also savor delicacies like Totobochi-age, kombu-jime, and Toyama kamaboko in the morning. The rice is delicious as well—highly recommended. *Previously, Himi Udon was available for breakfast; it was disappointing not to have it this time. The Hotel is relatively close to Takaoka Station and right near Takaoka Daibutsu (Great Buddha of Takaoka). A nighttime stroll to see the illuminated Buddha can be delightful. Takaoka Castle Park is also nearby and perfect for a walk. Takaoka Daibutsu has quite a handsome appearance!

    I chose this accommodation despite the higher cost compared to other hotels due to its convenient access and necessary conditions. Considering its age, I think it is well-maintained and clean. While hallway noises were noticeable, there was minimal noise disturbance inside the room. The room is spacious enough for a solo stay, but a bit more space would have added a sense of luxury.
