    Refresh

    It was wonderful to be able to view Hikone Castle in the snowy scenery from the Room. The food was delicious, and the chef’s personality at dinner was excellent, so we enjoyed not only the meal but also the conversation.

    Ideal if you’re visiting Hikone Castle.

    It’s a great Hotel if you’re visiting Hikone Castle, as it’s only a 5-minute walk to the entrance! However, perhaps to save costs, the entire building felt cold. In particular, the lounge area with a castle view—set up using half of the corridor—was so chilly that I cooled down quickly after bathing. (I may have expected something more exclusive for a “lounge,” like an area you enter with a card key.) The staff service was good, but considering the value for money, I’m not sure I would stay again. The breakfast buffet dishes were also cold, so I wish they were served warmer.

    It’s wonderful to be able to gaze at Hikone Castle endlessly.

    Hikone Castle is very close by, and a morning walk was truly refreshing. We were very satisfied with the food, the bath, and the service. It was an exceptionally wonderful Hotel. We would love to stay again.

    A luxurious and highly satisfying Hotel

    Although the hotel is far from the station, it is located right in front of Hikone Castle. I reserved a single room, which was clean and did not feel cramped. The unit bath was spacious enough to stretch your legs comfortably. The highlight was the large public bath with a beautiful view of the castle tower. However, the lounge offers an even better view of the scenery. Breakfast was served buffet-style with a well-balanced selection of local dishes, Japanese, and Western cuisine; the curry was particularly delicious. The hotel staff were attentive and greeted guests warmly, making it a very comfortable stay overall.

    Hikone Castle in the Snow

    It was a year-end trip with a friend. Despite the unexpected snowy scenery, we had a wonderful time watching Hikone Castle illuminated amidst the light snowfall from the window of our room. The meals, both breakfast and dinner, were very delicious, and the staff provided courteous and pleasant service. With a spa as well, it was an impeccable accommodation. Thank you for your hospitality.

    I had a relaxing stay.

    At check-in, I was offered an upgrade to a room with a jacuzzi for an additional 3,300 yen, allowing me to stay in a suite-like Room. The public bath was clean and nice, but being able to enjoy the jacuzzi in the Room without worrying about time was wonderful. The teppanyaki course and the breakfast with its wide variety were both very delicious. I would love to stay here again.

    Due to the sudden decision to travel and limited time before the accommodation date, we couldn't choose our preferred accommodation plan. It was a trip with my wife, but we ended up booking two single rooms. If we had made the reservation earlier, there would have been more options, which is a bit disappointing. However, accepting it as it is, staying in single rooms can sometimes feel more relaxing and carefree—a new realization for us. The hotel's location is excellent. Its compact size ensures a quiet and relaxing stay. We went out for dinner but evaluated the breakfast buffet—it was average; adding some local flavors could make it more enjoyable. Unfortunately, it's not an onsen hotel, and the room was quite small, which was disappointing. For sightseeing in Hikone, this hotel might be worth considering at least once.

    Highly recommended.

    This was my third stay. This time, I had a head massage at the spa on the second floor. They relieved tension in my neck and shoulders, provided helpful advice, and it was a wonderful experience. For dinner, I had the "Dairou Gozen," which was delicious and very filling. The location is excellent, right in front of Hikone Castle. I travel to various accommodations, but I didn't see any foreign staff at this hotel. Instead, it seemed that senior staff members were actively working here, which I think is great. I would love to visit again.

    Perfect for visiting Hikone Castle

    The location is perfect for visiting Hikone Castle and highly recommended. You can see the beautifully lit-up Hikone Castle from the Room, large public bath, and post-bath lounge. I was delighted to find drip coffee and fresh cream in the Room. The large public bath is not very spacious, but having towels provided was a nice touch. Meals focus on local ingredients, and I especially enjoyed the light vegetable tempura dashi chazuke for breakfast with its refreshing umeboshi flavor. If I may suggest, it would be great to have separate top-and-bottom loungewear instead of yukata. It would also be nice to have machine-made coffee available during breakfast or as a takeaway option for the Room. That said, it was an extremely satisfying stay—thank you very much!

    It was very comfortable.

    Everything was perfect. I felt so relaxed while enjoying the view of Hikone Castle from the bath. The front desk staff and all other staff members were very kind, which made me happy. The white rice at the breakfast buffet was incredibly delicious, and I also had lunch at the Hotel.

    Dinner Saison Course...

    Dinner Saison Course: Enjoy a unique experience as the teppanyaki chef skillfully grills meat and vegetables right in front of you at the counter, making it a delightful first-time experience. The Hotel's location is excellent, with Hikone Castle just in front, allowing for a relaxed morning.

    Only one.

    The Room was clean, and the lounge service was excellent. The view of the fireflies' dance from the observation room was also wonderful. However, one downside was the Facility at the dining venue. Being seated at the farthest table near the entrance was one thing, but the tables and chairs felt cheap and did not match the price.

    Couple's Getaway

    It was a very comfortable Hotel with a great view of Hikone Castle right in front. It exceeded my expectations. Although we booked a Room without a castle view, the elevator hall had a full wall showcasing the castle scenery, which was more than satisfying. The bath was impeccably clean and well-maintained. The complimentary post-bath drinks and one free beer were a delightful touch. We also enjoyed relaxing on the terrace with drinks while admiring Hikone Castle. The breakfast rice wasn't very tasty, but the variety of Western and Japanese side dishes made up for it. This time, it was a trip for just the two of us, but next time, we’d love to bring our children and stay as a family.

    The room, though small, was clean, and the Onsen public bath would have been perfect with an open-air bath. However, the post-bath lounge was lovely. The breakfast was delicious, and I especially enjoyed the tempura rice porridge. I appreciated how quickly my forgotten item in the room was sent back to me with a thoughtful note attached—it truly touched me. Although my stay was short, it was very comfortable.     We had another enjoyable stay. The room, meals, service, hospitality, facilities, and bath were all excellent. The only point for improvement would be the cleanliness of the large public bath at night when there were fewer guests; it seemed slightly unclean (with some hair or residue floating—just a little). It might require checking. In the morning, it was very clean. We look forward to staying again!

    Overall, a lovely Hotel.

    I booked a one-night stay with dinner and breakfast included. The Omi beef kaiseki dinner was absolutely delicious, and the staff were very polite, making it a truly delightful experience. The breakfast was also excellent, featuring freshly made tempura, kakiage tencha, bread, and more—completely satisfying! The room was clean and spacious, with a semi-open-air bath that provided ultimate relaxation. While the hotel itself was outstanding, I felt disappointed when my confirmation call after the reservation ended abruptly as I said "Goodbye," or when some front desk staff seemed uninterested or lacked politeness. Reviews often praise the staff's exceptional service, so it made me wonder if their attitude changes depending on the guest. If not for these minor issues with some front desk staff members' attitudes, this would be an amazing hotel overall.

    We chose the accommo...

    We chose the accommodation right in front to ensure a comfortable walk around Hikone Castle. After walking for about 3 hours, we could see the beautifully lit-up castle tower from our room. The 17:30 reservation for dinner was luxurious and delicious, and my husband especially enjoyed the sake tasting set. Since this trip was also meant to be a treat for him, I was very satisfied as well. Although it would have been nice to have a bit more space in the twin room, the amenities were fully equipped and excellent. The hospitality was great, making it a pleasant trip overall.

    Hikone Castle Hotel in Midsummer

    Escape the scorching heat and take refuge at the nearby Hikone Castle Hotel! The top-floor Room, as well as the bath and large public bath, offer a perfect view of Hikone Castle right in front of you—an unbeatable location. The Hotel staff, who seem to be mostly locals with a deep love for their Hotel, were incredibly welcoming and pleasant. It was a stark contrast to the foreign-owned hotel in Nagoya that opened last year. One disappointment was the Omi beef kaiseki dinner—the quality of ingredients wasn’t utilized well at all. The roast beef was especially disappointing, and my husband barely touched most of the dishes. On the other hand, breakfast was surprisingly delicious! It’s puzzling why dinner couldn’t match breakfast in quality. I’d love to visit again during next spring’s cherry blossom season but will plan to dine out for dinner instead. Still, this has become one of my favorite Hotels to revisit!

    The breakfast was delicious. I enjoyed the complimentary beer during the lounge service from 5 PM while admiring the view of Hikone Castle's main keep after a relaxing bath. However, I was disappointed that rental bicycles were not available in the evening when I wanted to use one for dinner.

    The view of Hikone Castle right in front was wonderful. The illuminated Hikone Castle seen from the large public bath was also beautiful. After bathing, it was nice to relax in the lounge with free drinks while enjoying the castle view. Breakfast was buffet-style with a wide variety of dishes, all very delicious. I would definitely like to stay again if I have the chance.

    "Shiro-mi": A Premium Accommodation

    A comfortable and high-quality accommodation perfect for solo travelers. Highly recommended for trips around Lake Biwa. The large public bath is excellent. The library lounge offers drink service, providing a relaxing space. Please note that dinner requires a reservation by the day before. Breakfast is a buffet with high-quality ingredients and is very satisfying. Looking forward to visiting again!

    Satisfied with the view of Hikone Castle from the bath, as expected. The locally sourced breakfast was impressive, featuring unique items like soy-marinated zucchini and pickles. The single room was spacious and comfortable; however, the air conditioning was either too cold or blew directly on me, which was disappointing. The library's book selection suited a travel destination perfectly, and the staff (except at the front desk) were welcoming with smiles. Overall, I thought it was a great Hotel.

    Enjoy the Castle View

    The cherry blossom season must be amazing, but the fresh greenery also provided a stunning view of Hikone Castle. After Golden Week, the hotel was quiet, and we enjoyed views of Hikone Castle from our room, the bath, and the lounge. The post-bath drink was perfect. The ayu tempura ochazuke we had for breakfast was excellent, and the staff's hospitality was warm. The pudding we received as an IKYU benefit had just the right firmness and sweetness—delicious! We used coupons at the souvenir shop on the first floor to buy plenty of gifts. Even as adults, we got excited about trying out the Hikonyan capsule toy machine by the entrance. One minor downside was that there were no USB ports in our room. Additionally, while we used a 10:00 AM shuttle service to Hikone Station, we ended up waiting nearly 50 minutes for a JR train heading toward Nagahama. It would have been nice if train connections were smoother (though this was due to our lack of planning rather than any fault of the hotel). Still, this hotel is truly exceptional with nothing to complain about. Thank you so much!

    The view of Hikone Castle from the lounge and large public bath is stunning. The lounge offers free drinks, making it an enjoyable space. Although the building is old and single Rooms are small, they were clean and well-maintained. It would have been nice to have the option to choose a Room on the opposite side of Hikone Castle for variety. For dinner and breakfast, solo travelers are seated in areas without views, but both the food and service were excellent.
