    We would love to stay here again.

    It was a wonderful Hotel where we could truly enjoy Lake Biwa. The Room offered a panoramic view of Lake Biwa and felt incredibly open and airy. The interior also had a luxurious touch, and we genuinely enjoyed simply spending time in the Room. All of the staff provided excellent service, proactively checking in with us, so we never had any trouble during our stay. The Onsen was especially memorable. The water quality was excellent, and the view of Lake Biwa from the open-air bath was exceptional. On the day we stayed, a crescent moon reflected on the lake’s surface, creating an enchanting scene. The amenities were also high quality. We were very satisfied with the all-inclusive lounge as well. With its high ceilings and spacious atmosphere, enjoying drinks freely while looking out over Lake Biwa was truly fantastic. Dinner featured an outstanding full-course Omi beef meal—so much so that it felt like great value for what you get. There was also a wide selection of drinks, and we were especially happy to see many local sake options available. They paired perfectly with the fresh ingredients. Breakfast was a buffet featuring locally sourced ingredients with plenty of variety. The restaurant had ample seating, so we could dine comfortably without waiting while enjoying views of Lake Biwa. If I had one request, it would be helpful to have a Plan without dinner as an option—this would make it easier for guests on a Multiple Night Stay to enjoy dining out for one evening. For that reason, we changed our stay from two nights to one night this time; however, after actually staying here, it was such an excellent Hotel that we regretted not booking a Multiple Night Stay. Next time, we would definitely like to stay for multiple nights.

    We could see Hikone ...

    We could see Hikone Castle from both our Room and the bath, which made it feel truly special. The yukata and haori were adorable, and both the Room and the bath were clean and very comfortable. The breakfast buffet was delicious, and being able to enjoy freshly fried tempura in the morning felt like a luxury. The on-site souvenir shop was well stocked, and our whole family had a wonderful trip to Hikone.

    We had a comfortable stay.

    Quick and pleasant service. Thank you for storing our luggage after check-out and calling a taxi for us. We were also impressed by the nighttime view reflected in the moat of Hikone Castle.

    Excellent location

    We stayed in a castle-view Room with a direct view of Hikone Castle.\nThe illuminated Hikone Castle right in front of us and the night scenery with white herons flying around were wonderful.\nA morning walk around the moat was also pleasant.\nFor dinner, we had the teppanyaki anniversary course at Restaurant Houou.\nWe truly enjoyed the Grand Chef’s superb skills.\nThe meal was also senior-friendly, and we were very satisfied.\nHowever, it was disappointing that there were few Western options at the breakfast buffet, which left us a bit unsatisfied as bread eaters.\nWe would like to stay here again when we visit Hikone.

    The location is excellent.

    This Accommodation is excellent for staying in Hikone. It’s close to Hikone Castle and easily accessible from the station. It was a pleasant surprise to be able to see Hikone Castle from the large public bath. The complimentary beer service was also a nice touch. However, it was disappointing that the breakfast buffet had limited variety.

    I really liked that there was a bar time. For amenities, I would be happy if women’s items were provided in the Room (such as facial toner; they were available in the large public bath). The breakfast tempura chazuke was delicious.

    That’s disappointing…

    We stayed here for our 35th wedding anniversary and were truly moved by the wonderful castle view! It was an unforgettable sight. The food was delicious, and we were impressed that both the sake tasting set and the wine set were reasonably priced and very tasty. Taking a bath while looking at the castle was also amazing! What disappointed us was the in-Room amenities: there was no closet and not enough hangers, which would be worrying during coat season. The luggage storage area was also not very convenient to use, which caused some trouble. Since it was our anniversary, we asked for an upgrade, but we were told it was fully booked. We understand that a castle-view Room costs more than others, but even with dinner and breakfast included, it felt too expensive. We would like to come again during cherry blossom season, but considering the price, we hesitate.

    We enjoyed a pleasant stay with a view of Hikone Castle’s main keep from the Room.

    The castle tower of Hikone Castle was visible from the Room, and there were fewer tourists at night and in the morning, so we could enjoy a relaxing walk around the castle moat, making for a wonderful stay. In addition, the staff provided attentive service at breakfast, and we were satisfied. When visiting Hikone again, we would like to stay here again.

    It was a very comfortable stay.

    It’s in a truly prime location just steps from Hikone Castle, with beautiful castle views. You can also enjoy the view from the large public bath. The bath is fully stocked with essentials such as towels, bath towels, and cleansing products, so you can go without bringing anything. The complimentary drink service was excellent as well. The beer while looking out at Hikone Castle was delicious. I was able to relax and spend time in a calm, comfortable setting.

    Great location.

    The property is in a great location with a direct view of the castle. Although the building is old, it is well maintained and clean. Every staff member was pleasant and welcoming, which made our stay very comfortable. We stayed for three nights, and it would have been even better if there had been a bit more variety in the meals.

    The meals were delicious.

    I stayed for one night to visit Hikone Castle. The shuttle bus picked me up at the station, which was very helpful. I also rented a bicycle for sightseeing, so I was able to get around to various places even though I was tired. The staff were kind, and the meals were served attentively, which I appreciated. The bath is a bit small, but it wasn’t particularly crowded. I recommend this place.

    A wonderful, compact, elegant, and comfortable Hotel.

    As it was my first time in Hikone, I chose a Hotel with a castle view. The Room is compact, but the bathroom/toilet area and the space by the door are roomy, and you can always see the castle from the Room. The large public bath only has about 5–6 vanity and washing stations, but the layout makes it easy to use. It was also great that towels and basic skincare items are provided, so you can head to the bath without any hassle. The bath also had a castle view. I booked a plan with dinner and breakfast included. Dinner was wonderful—the presentation, choice of tableware, and the dishes themselves were full of creativity and ingenuity. Not only could I enjoy Shiga ingredients, but I could truly feel their spirit of hospitality. The staff explained both the dishes and tableware carefully and clearly, and they also taught me how to best enjoy the breakfast buffet—thanks to that, I was able to savor delicious Tencha tea from the morning (otherwise I think I would have gotten full too soon). The Hotel’s location is convenient, and I really appreciated having Shuttle Service to the station as well. I would definitely like to stay again in another season.

    It was great.

    Dinner featured dishes that truly reflected Shiga, and everything was delicious. The bath also had a wonderful location, allowing us to relax while looking out at Hikone Castle right in front of us. If possible, I would have preferred breakfast not to be buffet-style, but served in the same way as dinner.

    Highly recommended.

    We stayed as a couple because our schedules didn’t match our children’s plans for Golden Week. This Accommodation was said in Reviews to have a great view of the castle, but it exceeded that— it felt like we were staying almost inside the castle. For our purpose of exploring Hikone Castle, I don’t think there is anywhere better. In the morning, we borrowed bicycles free of charge at the front desk and enjoyed cycling as well, which left us completely satisfied. What stood out most was the tall gentleman who handled our check-in and the breakfast. His polished, professional Hotel-style service truly elevated the Accommodation. The rice at breakfast was wonderfully sweet and memorable, and all the dishes had gentle flavors and were delicious. I will recommend it to friends visiting Hikone Castle.

    The long-awaited Hikone Castle Resort & Spa Hotel

    Even before the pandemic, I made a Reservation many times but had to Cancel the Reservation due to unforeseen circumstances. This year, I was finally able to stay, and I was truly happy. The Room was just as I imagined—wonderful—and my spouse and I were able to relax and enjoy a peaceful time together. For dinner, the Omi beef sukiyaki was of course delicious, and I was surprised at how incredibly good the freshly cooked rice was. When we visit Hikone again, we would love to stay here again.

    You’ll have a wonderful time.

    - The staff are courteous and wonderful. - Breakfast is delicious, with a wide variety including many local specialties. The coffee cups are pre-warmed. - The Room bed is very comfortable, and having two pillows was a nice touch. - The large public bath is hassle-free—you can go empty-handed. Bath towels and towels are provided in the bath area, along with cleansing oil, toner, and other amenities. The shower head is ReFa! - The post-bath lounge is fantastic. If the weather is clear, the terrace is especially great—Hikone Castle is right in front of you. The illuminated moat and castle at night are beautiful. - Flat parking lot and very convenient—close to the hotel. I definitely want to stay again and would recommend it to others. My friends who stayed with me this time were also very happy. We booked four single Rooms for two nights for a tennis tournament—thank you for placing us next to each other. One more thing—this was our oversight, but dinner requires a Reservation by the day before! Next time we’ll make a Reservation before we come!

    The lounge was great.

    A tranquil setting with views of Hikone Castle and attentive, high-quality service made for a truly comfortable stay. Enjoying a beer in the lounge at night was exceptional, and the illuminated scenery created a luxurious, deeply satisfying time.

    The Food & Beverage Department is outstanding.

    A two-night Multiple Night Stay. I chose this property for its location very close to Hikone Castle. I was very satisfied with the dining service, mainly thanks to the male staff—attentive, always smiling, friendly, and highly commendable. On the other hand, the front desk made frequent mistakes, gave inaccurate instructions, and there were several occasions where they frowned. As a Facility, it would be perfect if there were an Onsen, but that can’t really be helped.

    It was a wonderful R...

    It was a wonderful Room with great views from the large windows and the view bath. Most of the cherry blossoms had already fallen, but the nighttime illumination looked beautiful. We also enjoyed the breakfast buffet with many Shiga ingredients. The dashi chazuke and Adberry jam were especially delicious, so we even went to Azumigawa Town to buy the jam!

    Nothing but disappointment.

    I stayed with my mother in a Superior Room. The Room’s location was excellent, with the castle right in front of us. However, everything else was disappointing… First, there was no safe in the Room, so we had to leave our valuables at the front desk each time. Most disappointing of all was that the Omi beef kaiseki meal was not tasty at all. The sukiyaki had too many vegetables, making the broth watery, and one dish made with soy milk even seemed to use meat that felt like pork belly. The roast beef also tasted more like ham. The timing was poor—we were kept waiting far too long between courses after the appetizer. The only thing that tasted good was the Omi rice cooked in a clay pot. We also had breakfast for two days, but it was exactly the same lineup both days. This is the first Accommodation where I’ve paid over 40,000 yen and found the meals this unappetizing.

    Discounted parking is available.

    I stayed for one night and two days, and there were no time limits on the parking lot on either day, so I was able to leave my car and enjoy sightseeing at a relaxed pace. (Such as a boat cruise in the castle moat and sampling local foods along Castle Road.) I made a Reservation for a Room with views of both the castle and the cherry blossoms. The price was higher during that season, but it was more than worth it—the scenery was absolutely breathtaking. The nighttime illumination was also very romantic. If you’re visiting to enjoy Hikone Castle’s cherry blossoms, this Hotel is highly recommended.

    It was a wonderful Hotel.

    I’ve wanted to stay here during cherry blossom season for years, and I was lucky enough to visit right at peak bloom this time. I had seen photos of the view from the Room window, but in person it felt many times more beautiful. The Room was a twin and not very large, but it was clean and well maintained, so I stayed comfortably. The cherry blossoms from the lounge were also stunning—I could have sat there all day. Dinner was delicious and I was very satisfied. I used the large public bath late at night, and the cherry blossoms from there were wonderful as well. I had injured my foot and couldn’t make it as far as the castle area, but just staying at the Hotel was more than enough to enjoy myself. We came by car this time, and they asked for our license plate number so they could check on our car in the parking lot at night—such thoughtful attention to detail. I’d love to recommend a stay during cherry blossom season to friends, but making a Reservation for exactly when they’re in full bloom each year is extremely difficult. Still, if possible, this is a Hotel that made me want to stay again during cherry blossom season.

    Netflix is not available in Room 303.

    At check-in, I paid JPY 3,300 per person (JPY 6,600 total) to upgrade to Room 303 with a large jacuzzi. I also went to see the public bath, but the view from the Room was better and the bath was larger, so I came right back. Enjoying a bubble bath while looking at Hikone Castle with the complimentary beer from the Room was amazing. The breakfast rice was a bit too soft for my taste, but the tempura was crispy and delicious. After breakfast, I was looking forward to watching the WBC final, but Netflix wouldn’t play. When I called the front desk, they said Netflix works in other Rooms but not in that one, which was really disappointing. If that’s the case, I wish they had told me upfront. The remote had a Netflix button, so I assumed it would work and spent about 10 minutes trying to get it going. They didn’t offer to move me to another Room either. I considered calling again to ask for a change, but after breakfast I had already taken a bath and was in a yukata robe; plus the game was about to start—so I gave up. I thought about watching on my phone, but the screen was too small. Originally I planned to watch on TV while working on my laptop and iPad; instead I ended up watching on my laptop and working on my iPad. I really wanted to watch on a big TV screen. Normally this wouldn’t bother me much, but it was widely reported that WBC streaming would be limited (including via Netflix), so it’s hard to believe they didn’t know—and their response felt unacceptable. Since I subscribed to Netflix specifically for WBC, having to watch the final on such a small screen was extremely upsetting.

    Overall, the stay was great, but there was one concern. We stayed with children, and it seemed that the floor of the in-room view bath was slippery for kids, so we had to be careful. Since we had a 1-year-old, thank you for providing a diaper disposal bin.

    With my son's family

    We visited again for the first time in a while with my son’s family. Our grandchildren are still small, so we would have preferred a Japanese-style Room, but we made a Reservation because our previous stay was wonderful. The day before our stay, I contacted the Hotel to confirm the sleeping arrangements and ask whether futons could be prepared, but they said futons were not available. They kindly pushed the beds together and provided extra blankets (my son’s family stayed in a spacious Room with a view bath), and we managed. I was so focused on the bedding that I forgot to confirm meals. When we went to dinner that evening and asked about food for our 1-year-old, we were told children’s meals need to be requested in advance. They still accommodated us and allowed us to order a children’s bento (there were two options), but it would take some time. My son went out to find a convenience store for something quick in the meantime, and as a result everyone waited until he returned before starting dinner. The restaurant staff handled everything graciously without showing any displeasure. We truly apologize for the trouble. Breakfast was buffet-style, so there were no issues, which was a great relief. The large public bath was just as nice as before; from the silky bath we could see Hikone Castle lit up at night, and we were able to relax in the lounge with drinks. We would love to visit again if we have another opportunity. Thank you very much for your thoughtful care and consideration.

    We experienced the best of traditional Japanese hospitality!

    With inbound tourism increasing lately, I often hear that even good Hotels have become less attentive to guests. This Hotel, however, still offers the warm, classic service and hospitality of earlier days, and I was truly satisfied. For example, having unlimited bath towels and face towels in the large public bath is rare these days—even at luxury Hotels—but here there were plenty available. I rated it 4 stars because despite being called a spa resort there was no open-air bath or sauna; however, you can see the castle from the bath area, and although there are only five washing stations, each is well partitioned and comfortable (I chose a quieter time). The food was delicious as well. Since I was traveling solo, the restaurant staff kindly suggested moving me from a seat next to a noisy family to a quieter table. That kind of thoughtful attention is rare. The local sake recommended by the staff was excellent too. As there aren’t many restaurants nearby, I also used the Hotel restaurant for lunch after checkout. It came with an obanzai plus drinks-and-dessert buffet, and guests receive 10% off—great value for money. My single room faced away from the castle side, but it was spacious enough and well equipped with amenities. If I had one complaint: the wooden geta provided for walking around inside tipped forward and were difficult to walk in; with my bad back and legs it was tough. Regular sandals or slippers would be much easier. From the lounge and terrace you can also enjoy the illuminated castle at night, and I appreciated the complimentary drink service including one beer. The cherry blossoms hadn’t started budding yet this time, but I’d love to return someday during cherry blossom season or autumn foliage season.

    A Cozy Accommodation with Castle Views

    This was my second stay. I loved it last time, and stayed again after a performance at Biwako Hall. It takes about an hour from Otsu, but it’s a wonderful Accommodation with everything you need for a comfortable stay. We chose a Plan with two adjacent single rooms including dinner and breakfast. The castle-view bath and the castle-view library lounge offer drink service, and the restaurant staff provide attentive service—the food is delicious as well. We chose the Tairō Gozen set meal. There was also a teppanyaki counter, so I’d like to try it next time. A specialty of the breakfast buffet is dashi chazuke topped with freshly fried tempura made to order. If you’re going to Hikone Castle, it’s best to leave your luggage at the Accommodation and head out light.

    The meals are excellent.

    We had the carefully selected crab and Omi beef course, and it was delicious—we were completely full. The sake tasting set was also a great deal, with six varieties plus one go (180 ml), and we really enjoyed it. Around 10 p.m., we were able to use the large public bath almost privately. After getting chilled in the falling snow, it was wonderful to warm up slowly. We will definitely be back.

    It was wonderful to be able to view Hikone Castle in the snowy scenery from the Room. The food was delicious, and the chef’s personality at dinner was excellent, so we enjoyed not only the meal but also the conversation.
