    Kumano Trip

We stayed in a private detached guest room with an open-air bath. The guest rooms are scattered across a spacious property, and we were able to get around by private shuttle bus. It was a wonderful Hotel at the foot of the Kumano mountains. We made it in time for afternoon tea, served until 3:30 p.m., and enjoyed a relaxing stay.

    Family Trip

We stayed here as a family. We were satisfied with everything: the service, the Room, the bath, the food, the afternoon tea right after arrival, and the drinks in the lounge. Since this trip was about relaxing at the Hotel rather than sightseeing, choosing this place was absolutely the right decision. Our whole family was very happy, and it’s a Hotel we would love to stay at again.

    We made wonderful memories!

This was our first time staying at Kumano Club on a family trip with my parents. Two days before our visit, I called to let you know we would also be celebrating my daughter’s birthday, and asked if it would be possible to prepare any kind of congratulatory message or small gift. I was told, “Certainly. We can’t include a name, but we will prepare something,” so I was disappointed that there was nothing in the Room or during the meal. Aside from that, everyone at the Hotel was truly kind and wonderful. The foreign staff in particular spoke excellent Japanese and provided outstanding service—nothing to complain about. The baths were not too crowded, and after bathing we could enjoy coffee milk. Dinner also included unlimited drinks! My father, who loves alcohol, was very happy. The summer vacation program was also great—we had a lot of fun releasing lanterns, stargazing, and trying the shooting game. This is another place I would like to visit again. Thank you very much.

    It was comfortable!

We stayed here for a family trip. The wooden exterior felt a bit old, but the Room was very clean and comfortable. There was a wide variety of food and drinks, and we really enjoyed being able to try small portions of many different items at afternoon tea, dinner, and breakfast. There was also an excellent selection of alcoholic beverages, so I recommend it for anyone who wants to enjoy drinks. It was very disappointing that all the planned events were canceled due to the typhoon, but we would definitely like to stay again when the season changes.

We were completely satisfied with everything!

The food and drinks offered a wide variety, and everything we tried was delicious. All the staff were very courteous, which made our stay truly comfortable. Unfortunately, due to bad weather, the stargazing event and lanterns were canceled that day, but we still enjoyed the taiko drumming and live guitar performance in the lounge. It was an Accommodation we would love to stay at again.

It was an unforgettable, wonderful stay.

We stayed as a family of four to celebrate my mother’s 60th birthday. The afternoon tea before check-in, dinner, and breakfast were all delicious and wonderful. All the staff were so lively and always kindly spoke to us, which made us very happy. There were celebratory flowers prepared in our Room, and my mother was truly delighted. Thank you for your thoughtful consideration. My father also really enjoyed being able to relax with drinks in the lounge before and after dinner. Even after returning home, we’ve been reminiscing together for a while, saying, “It was so great—we want to go again.” Thank you very much.

    A lovely smile

This was my first stay at this Accommodation. I arrived early due to the train schedule, but after check-in I was able to relax and enjoy afternoon refreshments. They had a great selection of alcohol, including beer, wine, and highballs—if they also had ice cream, it would have been perfect. The dinner buffet was excellent; the sashimi was delicious, and everything I tried was satisfying. In addition to the alcohol available in the afternoon, there were many kinds of sake, and they can also make cocktails for you. Best of all, every staff member provided very pleasant service—their smiles were wonderful. The Room was well cleaned, and although it was a hot day, the air conditioning worked well and it was comfortable. However, the Onsen was average.

    Adults-only resort

All the staff were truly wonderful. Everyone—from the front desk and restaurant to the shop and housekeeping—had such warm smiles and excellent communication skills. There was no shortage of food and drinks, and for anyone who loves sake, it’s probably heaven. I can’t drink alcohol, so it was a shame I couldn’t enjoy it, but I do wish there had been a wider selection of non-alcoholic beverages. Everything was spotless, and we had a very comfortable stay. Thank you so much—we will definitely be back.

    The meals are absolutely delicious!

This was our second stay. We booked the Shingetsuan Room for five people with the Gourmet All-Inclusive Plan. Everything was delicious, from the afternoon tea after arrival to the kaiseki dinner and the breakfast buffet. We were also very satisfied with the wide variety of all-inclusive drinks. All staff members greeted us with smiles and provided excellent service. One disappointment was that when we entered the Room, the refrigerator was not cold. Also, it seemed this Room is usually used for four guests, so one extra set had been added. Unfortunately, that additional futon, pillow, bath towel, toothbrushes, etc. were clearly different from the others and noticeably lower in quality. Still, we would definitely like to stay again. Thank you very much.

    Good Accommodation

This was my first time staying one night at this detached Accommodation. The front desk, Onsen, lounge, dining area, and gift shop are all in separate buildings, and with the great weather inside the World Heritage site, the mountain views were stunning and made for a wonderful stay. Afternoon tea was available, and the lounge offered unlimited drinks with a great selection of snacks. Above all, every staff member was attentive and welcoming with a smile, which made the experience truly relaxing.

We stayed again following last month’s visit. Unfortunately, it rained last month, but this time the weather was great—perfect for a walk—and we had a very comfortable stay. Thank you again to all the staff for your wonderful service. In particular, even though it was a buffet, the restaurant staff kindly noticed when my husband’s drink was running low and asked if they could bring him something. We truly appreciated those thoughtful touches. We would love to stay here many more times in the future.

    Thank you for the at...

Thank you for the attentive and thoughtful care from the staff. It’s quite a long trip from Kobe, but we plan to stay again next month with my husband. We also really enjoyed the meals, including afternoon tea. If I could make one request, I would appreciate slightly longer hours for the large public bath so we could relax in the morning as well; with the current schedule, we felt rushed trying to fit it in around mealtimes.

    I discovered Kumano ...

I discovered Kumano Club on social media, and with its all-inclusive plan, a lovely afternoon tea, and open-air baths in every Room… I’d been thinking for ages, “I want to stay here!” I finally managed to make a Reservation for a day that worked for me, and I was truly looking forward to it. A typhoon had lasted until the day before, so I was worried, but the rain let up somehow. We arrived after stopping by places like Onigajo. The parking lot was across the road. Thinking it would have been tough if it were raining, I went to check in. Then I was told, “Please leave your luggage there,” and they pointed to what looked like a table outside the building. That surprised me… What? Outside? I felt uneasy, but did as instructed and left it there. After receiving an explanation while looking at a map at the counter—and since it was still before 3:00 p.m.—we headed to afternoon tea… Wait… here? That was my first impression. It looked like a company cafeteria with rows of plain tables—completely different from the afternoon tea I’d seen on social media—and honestly underwhelming… And dinner is here too, right? I had nothing but a bad feeling—and unfortunately it turned out to be right. “Matsusaka beef steak and half buffet” sounds wonderful, but in reality it was one small piece of steak for two people plus a half buffet with about as much variety as a business hotel breakfast… Even though alcohol is all-you-can-drink, you can only drink so much… And the seating is unbelievably cramped! The backs of our chairs were bumping into the chairs behind us… Unacceptable… Everyone working there provided genuinely pleasant service, but the food itself was just too poor. Maybe my expectations were too high because so many Reviews said it was good… I stayed in the Seiryu Room; on my stay date it came to 74,000 yen after using about 10,000 yen worth of IKYU Points. For around this price for two people—at Ryokan in places like Hakone or Takayama or Gero—we’ve had Rooms with open-air baths plus wonderful kaiseki meals. So this time I couldn’t help thinking: at this price? But when I checked just now for Fridays other than my stay date (as of now), prices are in the 40,000-yen range… Why was that day so expensive? If it were 40,000 yen then maybe you could accept it—but nearly 80,000 yen for that? The Facility grounds also felt more like an open field; some paths weren’t paved on the way to our Room and our shoes got covered in mud. Also…the Seiryu Room—somehow even the entrance felt like an old apartment building… The area around the Room wasn’t well maintained either. For 40k yen maybe that’s fair—but paying nearly 80k yen for that Room and that meal feels excessive.

A Trip to Kishu for Couples

It was nice to be able to relax, but I would have liked to enjoy the meals at a more leisurely pace. In particular, dinner felt rushed, and it was disappointing that I couldn’t settle in and enjoy it calmly. For on-site Shuttle Service, a smaller cart might be better—it feels a bit excessive as it is now and makes it hard to request. The open-air bath in the Room did not warm up at all, so it was not usable. Overall, it fell short for the price.

    It was very comfortable!

A spacious, clean Room with tatami flooring and a lower bed. It was so comfortable—like relaxing at home. There was an open-air bath, and the indoor bath also had a large bathtub, so we could soak and truly unwind. The meals were just the right amount for us, and everything tasted great. The front desk, dining area, Rooms, and other facilities are all in separate buildings, so you move around as if taking a walk outside. It was our first time with this kind of setup, but they provide frequent Shuttle Service by small bus, so it wasn’t inconvenient at all. Even on foot it’s not far, so after the public bath or after meals it felt like a light stroll for some exercise. That said, it might be a bit tough on rainy days or during the cold winter season... This time the season and weather were perfect and very comfortable. The staff’s hospitality was wonderful, and being surrounded by nature made our stay incredibly pleasant. It’s definitely not a cheap Accommodation, but we’re glad we splurged for our anniversary. Thank you for taking such good care of us.

    I’m a returning guest.

I stayed here last year as well! I’m a repeat guest, haha. This time too, I was completely satisfied with the Room and everything else. It was such a great Accommodation that I brought my parents with me this time! I’d love to stay again! If I had to say one thing, it’s a little disappointing that it isn’t an Onsen, haha.

Getting around can be difficult on rainy days.

On a whim, we decided to travel and made a last-minute Reservation for an available Room. It was the smallest Room in this Accommodation, but it was still spacious enough for two people. At night it was so quiet it was almost eerie, and we were able to relax. The only disappointment was the rain. It couldn’t be helped, but an event we were looking forward to was canceled, and since the Accommodation is located up a hill, the slippery footing made getting around difficult. We requested a shuttle bus, but you still need to walk a bit. Also, the open-air bath in our Room was not an Onsen. Even in the large public bath, the Onsen is limited to certain areas. That said, all of the staff were kind and attentive.

This Accommodation is a relaxing place to unwind in nature.

As my elderly companion is in somewhat poor health, we chose a universally designed Room. However, contrary to the concept, the folding door between the bedroom and the bathroom/toilet was very stiff, making it difficult for an older person with limited strength to open and close. It was also quite loud, so when using the toilet at night we had to be considerate of our companion. The Room was disappointing this time, but all of the staff were very pleasant and attentive.

    We had a wonderful stay.

We chose to stay here for our Golden Week family trip because we were drawn to the Kumano Kodo tour and the all-inclusive plan. It was our first time in Kumano City, but it was easier to reach by car than we expected. It’s a wonderful place surrounded by nature. As a special Golden Week program, we joined a sake pairing tasting experience. A staff member at the Hotel who is very knowledgeable about sake paired local varieties that aren’t widely available, and it was a great experience with some new discoveries. Dinner was something we really looked forward to. The half-buffet selection wasn’t huge, but each item was high quality, so we were more than satisfied. My husband and son especially loved the shumai dumplings and roast beef. The main dishes—spiny lobster sashimi and Matsusaka beef steak—were delicious, beautifully presented, and very impressive. There was also a wide variety of drinks, and it was nice that the staff cleared empty plates promptly. Breakfast offered just the right amount of buffet options, so we didn’t overeat. The fruit included Setoka citrus instead of oranges, which made me happy—I enjoyed plenty because it was so delicious. The weather and climate were great, so we walked everywhere without using the bus. In rainy weather or another season, getting around on foot might be a bit tough. The Kumano Kodo tour was also excellent—thanks to our energetic guide who scheduled breaks before we got too tired and gave fun explanations, it was perfect for beginners like us. We’re really glad we joined. We would love to visit again as a family.

    Hospitality that meets your expectations

I booked this stay after hearing about it from a friend and really wanting to visit. At first, I didn’t know much about afternoon tea and told them we would arrive at 5:00, but after checking the website in advance, I changed it to 3:00 so we could arrive earlier and enjoy it at a relaxed pace. My friend, who drove the long distance for us, was amazed by the wide variety of afternoon tea options and said it helped melt away the fatigue. For dinner, we chose an early time of 5:30 and enjoyed our meal slowly while taking in the scenery before it got dark. We also spent a relaxing time in the open-air bath, and at night we joined the stargazing event—beautiful stars overhead, and in another direction a bright moon shining vividly—an unforgettable escape from everyday life. The Room was very comfortable, with both beds and futons, so we could truly unwind. Having everything included gave us peace of mind, and we were able to enjoy ourselves to the fullest. This has become a place I definitely want to visit again.

    The meals were extremely disappointing!!!

The staff, the Room, and the free events were all great—I’m glad I chose this Accommodation. However, dinner was unexpectedly disappointing, and I don’t think I’ll return. Choosing the buffet Plan that was listed at the very top of the Reservation site was a big mistake. I was extremely disappointed! Not only were there very few dishes, but I also felt there was nothing worth coming all the way to Kumano to eat. The menu included items like fried chicken, shumai dumplings, macaroni salad, stir-fried chicken, Chinese-style sticky rice dumplings (zongzi), and an Asian-style salad. In the photos, the sashimi looked like normal slices, but in reality it seemed cut into dice-sized pieces (as if for a seafood bowl), with only two kinds: salmon and white fish. Is it really acceptable that there wasn’t a single dish from Kumano or nearby Owase? I think some local citrus may have been used in ponzu or dressings, but that’s not really a dish... The Matsusaka beef steak was tender—maybe that was the only highlight. It’s from Mie Prefecture, so does that count as local? Even though they offer local sake, doesn’t it feel like the food pairing is far off? This time I basically had to drink with salad... Also, there was dust on the in-room coffee maker, which made me think the Room hadn’t been used for quite some time.

    Exceptional hospitality

This Accommodation is well known for its afternoon tea and all-you-can-drink alcohol, but the hospitality is outstanding as well. Since my elderly mother was traveling with me this time, we stayed in Seiryu, which is conveniently located close to everything. The front desk promptly prepared a wheelchair for us, and the staff at the dining area and large public bath quickly called a shuttle bus whenever needed, so we never felt inconvenienced. During meals, they also kept an eye on my mother and kindly spoke to us when our drinks were running low, which I truly appreciated. On the other hand, the Room felt dimly lit, and having a view of the open-air bath made it feel a bit cramped. From the open-air bath we couldn’t enjoy either the night sky or the outdoor scenery, and it was separated from the indoor bath with an inconvenient layout. Next time I’d like to stay in a different Room. The stargazing session was interesting, with clear and careful explanations.

    Accommodation for Enjoying the Resort

A quiet Accommodation surrounded by nature—so secluded there isn’t even a convenience store nearby. The shared Facility is well equipped and worth enjoying on a Multiple Night Stay. An early-morning walk offers a stunning pink sky at sunrise; it would be perfect if the lookout point were a little higher. At night, the starry sky is beautiful, and it’s fun to look for constellations.

An Accommodation to Fully Enjoy Kumano’s Nature

I had a very satisfying stay and was able to enjoy a luxurious time surrounded by the nature of Kumano. One thing I felt was slightly disappointing was the meals. Although some locally sourced ingredients were used, there seemed to be a high proportion of pre-made items, which somewhat overshadowed the appeal of the local produce. If the dishes reflected more regional character, I think it would highlight the Facility’s charm even more.

    We had a wonderful stay.

I recently stayed here with a close senior colleague. A few days before our stay was my colleague’s birthday, and we happened to find the Birthday Plan, so we chose that Plan. The vast grounds, delicious food, and attentive service—everything was extremely satisfying! With the all-inclusive offering, drinks and snacks in the lounge were unlimited, and one night didn’t feel like enough. We stayed in the best Room with an open-air bath and a shower room. We could gaze at the starry sky from the open-air bath, which truly felt like an escape from everyday life. The only disappointment was that the shower room floor didn’t drain well—perhaps due to the slope of the tiles—so after one person used it, water pooled across the entire floor. Also, since it’s in a mountainous area and mornings and evenings are still chilly this time of year, I thought it would have been nice to have heating available as needed. Overall, though, we were very satisfied. The birthday gifts from the Hotel were also surprisingly luxurious: a mini bottle of champagne, a whole cake, and a flower arrangement. Thank you very much for taking such great care of us. I’d love to visit again someday!

It was an excellent Accommodation in every way—except for the cleaning staff.

Except for the housekeeping, the meals, service, and views were all excellent, and overall it was an Accommodation with a very high level of satisfaction. However, I was disappointed with the housekeeping. During cleaning on the second night, they opened the door about 30 minutes earlier than the time we had requested, without knocking. They also waited outside, which made me feel rushed and uncomfortable. Also, at checkout on the third day, they similarly opened the door about 30 minutes before checkout time; when they saw we were still in the room, they closed it without saying anything. I felt there was a significant lack of consideration regarding housekeeping, but otherwise it was very comfortable and we were able to enjoy a relaxing stay overall. I hesitated to write this because everything else was so good, but I’m sharing it in hopes that things will improve even further in the future.

An Accommodation with Stunning Views and Beauty

This is a Hotel with exceptional hospitality. Unlike many Hotels in the great outdoors, you won’t see any dead leaves, insects, or cobwebs at all. The maintenance is outstanding. The Room has always been thoroughly cleaned and beautiful, even since before COVID. The staff are always smiling, and the service is excellent—truly wonderful. All the food is delicious, and you can keep drinking beer nonstop lol. If I had to mention one thing, I’d prefer a classic curry with a bit more spice. Thank you for a lovely time.
