    Your First Trip to Karuizawa

    We stayed here for a family trip with our elementary school-aged child. The pool isn’t very large, but it’s a good size for playing in the water or walking. The large public bath has both an outdoor bath and an indoor bath, and the outdoor bath also had a waterfall-style shower. Soaking in the outdoor bath after getting chilled at the pool was amazing! Both dinner and breakfast were buffet-style, and every dish was delicious. All staff members—at reception, the restaurant, and the shop—were friendly and courteous. We met several of the cleaning staff in the public bath area and our Room, and everyone greeted us with a smile, which made our stay very comfortable. We made wonderful memories. Thank you!

    I was bothered by a ...

    I was bothered by a sewage smell coming from the toilet and bathroom. As it was during the Obon holiday period, I felt this Hotel had a noticeable difference in service quality depending on the front desk staff member. The location is excellent—within walking distance of Old Karuizawa and the station—and next time I’d like to enjoy the area on a rental bicycle on a sunny day. I’ll be back next year for another try.

    As last year, we stayed in the same type of Room. We were satisfied with everything—the pool, the Onsen, and the meals. The game corner that was there last year was gone and our child was disappointed, but they were old enough to enjoy the table tennis area instead, so our family had fun playing together. Since it gets you moving, we actually think table tennis might be even better. We stayed for two nights this time and would like to come again next year.

    Harvest properties are consistently reliable, but the breakfast buffet can get extremely crowded. This time, we chose Yurari’s premium breakfast and were able to enjoy a relaxed, luxurious meal in a quiet setting.

    IKYU Souvenir

    Whenever I book Harvest Kyu-Karuizawa through IKYU, a complimentary gift is included. In the past, it was chocolate and Mikado drip coffee, but this year it was chocolate, Harvest drip coffee, and two 500 ml aluminum cans of water. Because I had a Multiple Night Stay, the number of water cans increased, making them heavy and difficult to take home. I apologize for saying this despite your kindness, but I would appreciate it if you could reconsider this.

    A wonderful Hotel to stay at any time of year.

    This is our elementary school-aged daughter’s favorite Hotel. It’s within walking distance from Karuizawa Station, the food was delicious, and there is also a pool, so it was a very fulfilling trip. It was disappointing that the morning omelet was no longer available, but the Karuizawa hot dog was also delicious. We would like to stay here again when we visit Karuizawa.

    We stayed here to celebrate a special occasion!

    We stayed here to celebrate my son’s birthday. My family and I have visited many times since this place first opened, so I was surprised to see the monument marking its 25th anniversary! The property is beautifully maintained and spotless, as if time has stood still, and the hospitality was warm—making our trip truly enjoyable. My son was thrilled with the maisonette-style Room. Thank you as well for preparing a birthday message plate at dinner. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious.

    A Hotel with Outstanding Hospitality

    I don’t usually write Reviews, but I’m writing to express my gratitude for how the Hotel staff treated guests. Even over the phone, they were sincere and their polite, pleasant manner truly showed their consideration. I was able to relax and feel at ease. Thank you very much. There is just one thing—though it can’t really be helped—the bed didn’t suit me, and that was the only disappointment. Still, in Karuizawa I enjoyed delicious food, the Onsen, and made wonderful memories. The Harvest team’s spirit of service is outstanding. Thank you again.

    It will leave you feeling enriched.

    As I did last year, I stayed here again while returning to Nagano. The entire place has a calm atmosphere, and with no inbound tourists or large groups, you can relax and unwind. I chose the dinner buffet, and it wasn’t a noisy, hectic buffet—everything was delicious and we could enjoy it at a leisurely pace. While having coffee in the garden in the morning, I happened to sit next to a gentleman who said, “Just having coffee here makes you feel happy, doesn’t it?” I would love to stay again.

    No matter how many times I stay, I never get tired of it—I always leave feeling refreshed both physically and mentally. The meals were also delicious, enjoyed while looking out at the greenery in the garden. I’m already looking forward to deciding when to visit next.

    Enjoy the lush greenery of Karuizawa

    I have stayed here several times, but this may have been my first time visiting in June. The greenery seen from the Room was beautiful, and even when I took a walk near the Hotel, it felt like being showered in green. The Room was spacious and relaxing, and we talked about inviting other friends next time. I will visit again.

    This is a Hotel I’d love to stay at again.

    The Room was spacious for one person, with a balcony and a beautiful view, but it was very cold. I turned on the heater, but it took a long time for the Room to warm up. I do get cold easily, but when I called the front desk, they brought me a blanket and a space heater. The Room soon became warmer, and they also called several times to check on me while I waited. Thank you very much for your thoughtful care. The open-air bath and massage chair were also great. For breakfast, they prepared a window-side seat for me, so I could enjoy it at a relaxed pace. One disappointing point: I asked them to ship my bag by courier service. It was my fault for not confirming, but I assumed it would be packed in a cardboard box; however, it arrived as-is. There was no explanation about this either. At another Hotel before, they boxed it without me having to ask, so I thought that was standard. Nothing was missing or damaged, but I learned that I need to request this myself next time. I was happy with the chocolate souvenir gift as well.

    Onsen in Karuizawa is wonderful.

    The large public bath was an Onsen, and the silky feel was very pleasant. However, since we had to bring towels from the Room, I wished there were a few extra face towels available. All of the staff were smiling, and their service was courteous. When we received a chocolate gift at the shop, we were also given coffee and water, but I wondered if they could have been placed in the Room refrigerator in advance... I appreciated it, but having to carry them over felt a bit questionable. The grounds were spacious and full of greenery, making it very relaxing and true to Karuizawa. The next day there was heavy fog, so I consulted a female staff member who suggested going via Komoro, which allowed us to head home safely. It was a great help—thank you very much. Breakfast offered many choices and was delicious, and I was also happy that there is a coffee lounge in the lobby where we could relax. I would like to stay again next time as well. Thank you very much.

    The property was very clean, and the food was delicious—we were very satisfied. However, the pool showers and restrooms were old and had an unpleasant odor, so we hope this can be improved. We would definitely like to stay again.

    A Wonderful Holiday

    This was my second stay. I chose the Plan with breakfast and dinner, and dinner was Japanese cuisine. Japanese cuisine is rare in Karuizawa, so to be honest I didn’t have very high expectations. However, the meal was truly delicious. Each dish was beautifully presented, and I looked forward to every course all the way through dessert. The seasonal ingredients were wonderful, and when I was told that refills of rice and miso soup were available, I couldn’t help thinking that if only my stomach were bigger—but unfortunately I had to decline. The thoughtful hospitality and graceful service from the restaurant, front desk, and shop staff made me feel very comfortable, and I had a truly lovely time. I would love to visit again.

    A very comfortable Hotel

    We stayed for one night and two days as a family of four. We were happy to receive the chocolate gift from the Hotel. The Hotel’s location surrounded by trees and the beautiful view of fresh greenery from our Room were wonderful. The front desk and restaurant staff were also excellent—efficient and professional. Both breakfast and dinner were very delicious. Our Room was a Japanese-Western style room with a terrace, high ceilings, and a tatami area where everyone could relax comfortably. Overall, it was an excellent stay. If I had to mention one drawback, I wish there had been a small tote bag or similar item to carry things when going to the large public bath.

    Unpleasant odor coming from the drain in the women’s bath washing area.

    I stay here several times a year, but this time my wife complained about an unpleasant odor coming from the bathroom wash area drain.

    A bit disappointing.

    I always stay for a Multiple Night Stay, but since April this year the meals have become simpler. The previous separate Western-style and Japanese-style options were better in both variety and taste.

    The staff were great.

    I previously stayed at Harvest Hakone. What impressed me most was how delicious the food was, so I chose to stay again this time before my daughter’s wedding. The Room was pleasantly spacious, but some dirt and stains were noticeable. As in Hakone, the carpet stains were quite visible and uncomfortable—perhaps it’s time for repairs? That said, the food was excellent. In particular, the female staff member at the bar made wonderful drinks with a warm smile, which enhanced the meal. Thank you very much. Thanks to her, my discomfort about the Room faded and it became a very pleasant stay. Thank you very much. My daughter’s wedding also went smoothly.

    This is my favorite Hotel.

    The front desk, housekeeping, and restaurant staff were always pleasant and courteous, and it made me want to come back. The Japanese dinner was delicious. I was disappointed that there were no cotton pads in the Room washroom and no pajamas, but next time I will bring my own.

    This was my first stay. The perks for IKYU Diamond members were good. I was bothered by an odor in the Room. The provided towels also smelled. The smell even transferred to my clothes and handkerchief, which made me feel unpleasant. The air purifier was noisy. I felt the buffet selection was limited. I thought Karuizawa would be better. The way the front desk staff spoke and behaved—somehow it felt like that’s how they treat non-members, and I found it unpleasant. Especially the man when I paid in advance before check-out. I won’t stay again. Next time I will stay in Karuizawa instead. Also, the mats in the large public bath were soaking wet, and there was a peeled-off brown poultice stuck on the rocks in the rock bath, which I hated. It was disgusting. The table and chairs outside the Room looked old, and I didn’t feel like sitting on them.

    Always excellent and highly satisfying.

    Last time I stayed solo after work and found it very comfortable and easy to relax, so this time I stayed with my family during spring break. No matter when we visit, everything is wonderful—the calm atmosphere, the well-stocked shop, the Onsen, the Room, and the meals. The staff’s understated hospitality and kindness are even better than at luxury Hotels in central Tokyo. It makes me want to stay again and again. Also, breakfast offers a wide variety of options you’d want to eat every morning, with plenty of healthy choices; my favorite is the curry. My family liked the curry best as well. Since my child is taking entrance exams this year, they were able to study comfortably and efficiently after breakfast—enjoying the pool, Onsen, and coffee in the lounge too. We will visit again as a family this summer.

    Wedding Anniversary

    We stayed here for our wedding anniversary. The Room was spacious and had a comfortable sofa, so we could relax while enjoying coffee and looking out over the courtyard. The large public bath was just the right size, and from the open-air bath we could even see the snow-covered ski slopes. At the breakfast buffet, Asanoya’s bread was dry and reminded us of school lunch bread, but everything else was delicious. This time we chose the French course for dinner, and it exceeded our expectations—both beautiful and incredibly tasty—making it a truly satisfying meal. For dessert, they wrote a wedding anniversary message on the plate, which deeply moved us and became a wonderful memory. Thank you to all the restaurant staff. The checkout staff were also polite and excellent. We would love to visit again.

    Nostalgic Frost Columns

    It was a cold day, but stepping on frost columns in the backyard for the first time in a while brought back fond childhood memories. As for the meals, the buffet style is flashy and fun, but for light eaters it takes some skill to choose well. The staff casually recommended the roast beef at dinner and the roast pork at breakfast—and they were spot on. There was a girl who felt unwell from the hot bath, which was unfortunate on what should have been a fun trip. After that commotion, I wandered around the property and was scolded by what seemed to be a regular guest for wearing loungewear in an area where it wasn’t allowed. I was thanked and scolded… Overall, it was a good trip.

    A Calm and Relaxing Hotel

    The Room, bathrooms, Onsen, and restaurant were all impeccably clean, making it a very comfortable space. The staff at the front desk, shop, and restaurant were kind and helpful, so we felt at ease throughout our stay. The breakfast buffet featured many locally sourced items, and everything was delicious. The roast pork, salmon marinade, Asanoya bread, and high-quality jams were especially appetizing. The morning curry and soba also received praise from the men in our group. It was great to be able to enjoy the Onsen at the Hotel, and we also appreciated that Kyukaruizawa Ginza was within walking distance for a stroll. It was only one night, but it was a truly relaxing trip. This is a Hotel we would love to stay at again.

    This is a Hotel I’d love to stay at again!

    The staff were very courteous and helpful. In particular, the person who assisted us at check-in made us even more excited for our stay. The breakfast was also excellent. We enjoyed energizing options like curry with meat and roast pork in the morning, as well as a wide variety of dishes such as Saikyo-style grilled salmon, Nagano-grown Koshihikari rice, and handmade soba—everything was very satisfying. This is a Hotel we would definitely like to visit again.

    We stayed for two nights as a family, including two elementary school children. The Facility had a very calm atmosphere, and we were able to relax from the moment we arrived. The Room’s unique split-level (maisonette-style) layout was also rare, and the kids were thrilled. The location was great—just over a 10-minute walk from Karuizawa Station. It was also within walking distance toward Old Karuizawa, which made sightseeing very convenient. For dinner, we used the takeout buffet. You can pack your own food into a bento-style container and take it back to your Room, which was fun as we filled it up with excitement. However, since children received the same size container as adults, we ended up taking too much; it was delicious, but we were extremely full. A smaller container for children would be appreciated. Also, carrying the trays was a bit difficult for kids, so each parent ended up holding one tray in each hand—it was somewhat challenging. We thought it would be convenient to have cooler boxes like those often seen at glamping facilities. Regarding the large public bath: smartphones are not allowed beyond the shoe-removal area. We didn’t know this and were cautioned by the cleaning staff member, which left us a bit confused. It may have been written in the materials, but it would feel more considerate to mention it at check-in. Also, not being able to bring smartphones poolside felt slightly inconvenient for staying in touch within our family—was there some kind of issue in the past...? The indoor pool was very clean. On the other hand, the hand-pump air inflator for swim rings didn’t work well (it seemed broken), so we ended up inflating them by mouth... There were no lifeguards or staff on duty at all times either, which made us feel slightly uneasy about safety. There were a few minor points like these, but overall we had a highly satisfying stay. Next time, we’d like to use the rental bicycles and enjoy our trip in a different way as well.

    Stayed overnight to attend a concert at Oga Hall. It’s close to the station and right next to the hall, which is very convenient. Even when I arrived early, they offered coffee service in the lounge, which was great. I’ve stayed many times, and I like the relaxed feel from the entrance onward. The Room was a clean, calm twin on the courtyard side; having a microwave was also convenient. Sitting on a chair on the balcony and looking out at the moss garden, trees, and blue sky was very soothing. For dinner, since I had Japanese cuisine last time, I chose a Western course this time; every dish used a variety of ingredients, looked beautiful, and tasted excellent. Above all, the restaurant is spacious and relaxing, and the staff served at just the right timing—everything was perfect. I use it as a substitute for a vacation home.
