It was dirty.

If it was a Japanese-style room, it should have been clearly stated. Just mentioning "tatami" is confusing and unclear, as it could mean only part of the room has tatami. Upon entering the room, I was disappointed. Everything in the room (table, bed, chair, sink, refrigerator) was at knee height, making everything difficult to use as I had to crouch down constantly and felt like I might bump into things. It was nerve-wracking with a small child who seemed likely to bump into everything. The bathroom floor had black mold; the kettle had limescale stains; the toilet paper holder was broken; and the wallpaper was dirty. The dustiness and musty smell of mold made me wonder how long it's been since this accommodation last hosted guests—there were even hairs on the floor! It lacked cleanliness entirely. When I requested a towel for my child sharing existing bedding, I was told: "Normally there’s a fee for this but we’ll make an exception." This kind of remark is something I've never experienced in all my stays elsewhere! This being my first visit to Numazu will also be my last—I cannot recommend this hotel at all.
