    A charming Onsen Ryokan

    We experienced an authentic Onsen Ryokan, which has become rare recently. The quality of the hot spring was pleasant, keeping us warm and comfortable for a long time. The meals were delicious, with just the right portions, leaving us satisfied.

    We visited this accommodation to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary, our silver wedding. From the warm welcome to the heartfelt farewell, every moment was filled with genuine hospitality that deeply moved us. The staff's thoughtful actions, considering what would bring joy and positivity to their guests, made us feel both comfortable and cared for. We were touched by the heartfelt message card from the hostess and even received a pair of commemorative chopsticks as a gift—truly showcasing this accommodation's dedication to putting people first. On our way home, we noticed that the windshield of our car had been cleaned—a gesture we believe reflects the staff's attention to detail and kindness. We stayed in a room called "Awayuki," which featured a luxurious cypress bath and an open-air hot spring bath with natural flowing water—making it an unforgettable silver wedding celebration. The dining area was specially prepared for us, and we thoroughly enjoyed the delicious meals provided. Looking forward to celebrating future anniversaries together as a happy couple!     Celebrating My Mother's 70th Birthday

    We stayed at the accommodation to celebrate my mother's 70th birthday with my husband and elementary school-aged son. We stayed in the "Korin" room, which was beautifully furnished, calming, and included an open-air bath that we thoroughly enjoyed. The cleanliness of both the room and the entire facility was impeccable. The meals were exceptional, with flavors that were not too strong, allowing us to enjoy every dish until the very end. Additionally, we were delighted by the thoughtful gesture of receiving a charming red rice dish and a commemorative gift for our celebration—thank you so much to the hostess for making it such a memorable experience. On our way home, we noticed that someone had cleaned our car's windshield—a detail that deeply moved both me and my husband. Since we had stayed near a ski resort in Nagano prior to this visit, there had been many bugs on the glass from before. We truly appreciated this kind gesture. Lastly, thank you to Ms. M from housekeeping for your excellent service during our stay. We look forward to visiting again someday—thank you very much!

    It was my first time...

    It was my first time visiting Awara Onsen. The meals were gently seasoned, beautifully presented, and served in just the right portions, making them very enjoyable. The room was clean and quiet, allowing for a relaxing stay. While a tea set was provided, as a coffee lover, I would have appreciated coffee packs and an electric kettle as well. I would love to stay here again on my next visit.

    Thank you for accommodating my picky daughter's dietary preferences. The meals were delicious. The garden sauna was also wonderful. We look forward to visiting again during crab season.

    A superb traditional Japanese Ryokan with a sense of history

    Initially, I was looking for a hotel around Lake Biwa, but I chose this accommodation as it seemed possible to stay at a more charming hotel in Awara Onsen for the same price. I stayed in the "Asahi" room, which was truly relaxing with its beautiful garden featuring weeping cherry blossoms—it was perfect. They brought tea and sweets to the room, which is a rare service these days and made me very happy. The hospitality was excellent as well. If I may express one wish, there were not enough chairs for my mother who has difficulty walking and myself with a history of herniated discs, and sleeping on futons was slightly uncomfortable. The private onsen bath in the room was spacious and satisfying. My mother and sister also enjoyed the large public bath. The meals were incredibly delicious. It was an accommodation I would love to visit again. Thank you very much!

    It was a wonderful Ryokan.

    The accommodation has a slightly old-fashioned feel, but the staff and the hostess's thoughtfulness were wonderful, making for a very satisfying stay. The meals were delicious and served at perfect timing, which made dining an exciting experience. The portions were just right, allowing us to finish everything without waste. This is an accommodation I would love to visit again.

    Highly satisfied.

    I stayed here during a trip with my parents. I had informed them in advance that it was my mother's birthday, and I was deeply moved when the Ryokan prepared a letter and a gift for her. The crab was incredibly delicious, and I appreciated how they made it easy to eat. The newly built garden sauna was beautiful and very enjoyable, though the cold bath could have been slightly cooler. The service at the Ryokan was excellent, making it a perfect 100-point experience!

    The historic building offers a charming atmosphere, while the Room is modern, spacious, and very comfortable. Meals in the morning and evening were explained with care, making dining an enjoyable experience. This is a Ryokan I would love to visit again!

    Very satisfied.

    This was my fifth stay in Awara Onsen, though at different accommodations. I chose this ryokan for its crab cuisine. Despite its traditional appearance, the atmosphere was very relaxing. The room was a barrier-free type with both Japanese and Western styles, clean and comfortable. However, it was disappointing that there wasn’t a coffee maker or tea set available in the room, which is common in many ryokans nowadays. Given how cozy the room was, it would have been nice to enjoy a leisurely cup of coffee after breakfast in the room. Considering this point, I rated "Room & Amenities" 4 points. As for service, all staff members at the front desk and dining area were exceptionally polite and pleasant—thank you! The onsen bath was spacious and very enjoyable. The crab dishes were delicious as well. Overall, I had a very satisfying stay!

    Awara Onsen was my f...

    Awara Onsen was my first visit, and I found its quaint and rustic atmosphere very charming. I stayed in a detached Room built in 1884, featuring luxurious designs like coffered ceilings that amazed me. However, the water facilities and private open-air bath were appropriately renovated, so it didn’t feel old at all. The newly completed bath from last month uses a different hot spring source with slightly milky water that was wonderfully warming. The blend of traditional Japanese architecture with tasteful renovations made for a comfortable stay. The meals focused on quality over quantity; the salt-crusted nodoguro fish was exceptionally delicious, and the fuki wrapped in prosciutto offered a unique flavor experience.

    I was very satisfied.

    We stayed as a group of four with my brother and his wife. The room was spacious, and we enjoyed both dinner and breakfast in a private dining area, allowing us to relax. The food was incredibly delicious, leaving us very satisfied. The onsen had smooth, silky water that made our skin feel soft and smooth. All the staff were very kind and attentive. It was our first visit to Fukui, but we would love to stay here again. Thank you!

    It was the best hospitality.

    The service, food, and atmosphere were all excellent. I chose this Property because I wanted to eat Echizen crab, and I was satisfied with the content; all the dishes were delicious. The sashimi was also fresh. The staff were pleasant, and I was able to spend my time quietly and leisurely. The Room was clean and spacious; however, I was concerned about the smell in the toilet. It's a shame since it has been beautifully renovated.

    Sauna

    Renting out the sauna by the hour is fine, but during the women's time slot, a man came in for a day-use bath and saw our bodies, which was terrifying. The response afterward was also very poor. I will never go there again.

    The hot water and the food were both excellent.

    There was Shuttle Service to and from the Shinkansen station, which was very helpful. The Facility was clean and satisfactory. Both the meals and the bath were good. However, since there happened to be a large group of guests, the men's bath seemed crowded, so I rated it a 4.

    It was a nice Stays.

    The hospitality, meals, and bath were all wonderful. That's why there were just a few things that were a bit disappointing. 1. I wish there was a light by the bedside. When I woke up in the middle of the night, it was dark, and I couldn't turn on the light without getting up. 2. It would be nice to be able to boil water in the room. I felt a bit embarrassed to call the staff for something like that. 3. It was a bit cold inside the property, especially in the elevator. I would like to visit the Stays again during crab season.

    The breakfast was very good. We were able to enjoy a variety of carefully selected items in small portions. The taste was just right. It felt like a Ryokan with great hospitality.

    The meals, both dinn...

    The meals, both dinner and breakfast, were very delicious and very satisfying. The portions were also satisfactory. The large public bath had a morning and evening gender switch, allowing us to enjoy both. The private bath was also barrier-free, making it easy to use, and my elderly parents were very pleased to be able to take a leisurely bath. We used the karaoke, and when we requested ice, it was prepared at just the right timing, which was very nice. The Room was clean and quiet, and we were very satisfied. We definitely want to use it again.

    Attracted by the tit...

    Attracted by the title of "Traditional Ryokan," I made a reservation. I hope the architecture of the traditional ryokan and the warm service of the ryokan will be preserved, but I would like the amenities and cleanliness of the water areas to be improved. Bringing towels from the room to the large public bath and using damp bath towels was very stressful. The quality of the bath towels was also poor, becoming damp after just one bath. The room also felt dated, and the smell of the old building was stressful. The accommodation fee is not cheap at all. If improvements are made, I believe it could become a satisfying ryokan.

    It's a property I'd like to visit again.

    All the staff were kind and courteous. I am especially grateful to the young proprietress, who was very kind when we were leaving and explained everything we asked about until the end.

    Comfortable hospitality

    The open-air bath attached to the Room was very good, with a spacious tub and free-flowing hot spring water. The service was also very polite and pleasant. The building itself is old, so there were few outlets in the Room, which was inconvenient, but unavoidable.
