    The garden is beautiful.

    This was my first trip to Aomori. It was also my first stay at Hoshino Resorts, and the garden was wonderful. Morning and evening strolls were very enjoyable. There is a footbath with towels thoughtfully provided, making it a delightful experience.

    The musty smell is disappointing.

    The open-air bath, blending seamlessly with the surrounding pond, was particularly enjoyable. While events made it feel a bit lively for us as an older couple, it seems like an interesting facility for families with children. However, the hallway connecting the East Wing on the first floor and the main building had a strong musty smell. Being sensitive to mold, my nose started running even in the restaurant after passing through there. Perhaps ventilation was difficult due to COVID-19 measures, but it was disappointing.

    It became a truly wonderful memory.

    This was my first time staying at a Hoshino Resort, and it was truly impressive. There were various attractions, allowing guests to enjoy the Hotel all day long. The decorations unique to Aomori, such as the Nebuta displays and free sake offerings, along with beautiful cherry blossom decor, were delightful. The wide variety of yukata made renting them worth the cost. The Room was clean, and the large public bath with its decorations added to the enjoyment. However, during meals, some foreign guests were speaking very loudly, making it difficult to relax. It would have been appreciated if staff had addressed such noisy behavior with those guests. I look forward to staying at a Hoshino Resort again in the future!

    The cultural experience in Aomori was amazing!

    This was my first visit to Aomori, and I enjoyed experiencing the local culture through activities like the Nebuta experience and Aomori dialect radio exercises. The onsen had a silky texture that made my skin smooth, and I was especially satisfied with the original spring, which had an even silkier quality. However, it rained on the day of our stay, and since it was a bit far to walk to the original spring, it would have been nice if there were shuttle services available at night. The meals were delicious, especially with plenty of scallops to enjoy. The scallop ramen for breakfast was very tasty with its gentle soup—perfect for starting the day. It was disappointing that participation in the Nebuta Festival event required prior reservation and same-day participation wasn’t possible.

    Fall in love with Aomori!

    I was completely captivated on my first trip to Aomori. This Hotel alone allowed me to fully experience the essence of Aomori. The staff were attentive, and it’s a comfortable place to stay. I would love to visit again.

    The meals did not meet expectations.

    Perhaps due to high expectations for the meals, they felt slightly underwhelming. Hoshino Resorts is often a destination in itself, and in that sense, it did not fully meet expectations. However, as an accommodation for stays with other purposes such as sightseeing, it is definitely a strong candidate for revisiting.

    The young staff were...

    The young staff were impressively enthusiastic and worked hard to create a lively atmosphere. The buffet offered a wide variety of delicious dishes, though it was slightly crowded. The building's exterior was quite underwhelming at first, but the interior was decent, albeit a bit dim. The Room was well-maintained and clean, which was great. The Onsen had clear and clean water; however, the washing areas were slightly close to each other. It’s a short walk to the original hot spring source, but the retro Showa-era vibe added charm. The spacious garden is perfect for those who enjoy walking. Thank you!

    Hospitality

    The buffet-style meals offer an abundance of dishes, including delicious local cuisine and fresh seafood that are almost too much to try all at once. The baths are silky smooth and incredibly relaxing. The Nebuta show was breathtaking and truly moving. Every detail reflects the staff's attentiveness and care, as well as their love for the local culture, making for a very satisfying and comfortable stay. This is a remarkable place I would love to visit again. Thank you for a wonderful trip!

    Simply enjoyable...

    I had an exciting time from check-in to check-out. The room was clean, and I was satisfied with the bathroom and the ample number of hairdryers. However, I stayed in the West Wing, and unfortunately, the WiFi did not connect at all, which was disappointing.

    Festivals Every Day

    The room was disappointing.

    Arrived at the hotel from Oirase Keiryu Hotel via shuttle service, and while I understood that the room was not ready, I was told to come back for the key exactly at 3:00 PM. When I went at 3:00 PM, there was a large group of tour guests causing a lot of congestion. Guests who checked in around 2:30 PM seemed to receive their keys immediately, which made me feel they were not flexible with us. Additionally, we stayed in Room 3028, but the view was only of the parking lot and completely different from what was shown on the site—very disappointing. The meals, bath facilities, and Michinoku Festival were great. However, because of this experience during check-in and with our room assignment, it left us feeling shocked. As others have mentioned as well, it might be better to avoid transferring from Oirase Keiryu Hotel to Aomoriya. It leaves a disappointing impression overall.

    It was Komaki Onsen.

    I stayed with a friend who often visits Onsen Ryokan across Japan, and they praised the exterior and interior, which had the signature style of Hoshino Resorts. The indoor bath was spacious and relaxing. The meals were worth the price. The outdoor bath is a bit far. The welcoming pony dressed in Nebuta festival attire was very charming.

    Dinner was especially satisfying, perhaps even too much! However, breakfast was quite simple. It might be a good idea to shift some items, like the apple compote and chips from dinner, to accompany yogurt in the morning.

    A Relaxing Retreat at Aomoriya

    I spent the first half of this year's Golden Week at Hotel Aomoriya. Although the arrival day was marked by heavy rain and stormy weather, the weather improved from the afternoon of the next day, allowing me to enjoy a wonderful vacation at this amazing hotel. The various events creatively arranged on the 1st floor, the dazzling 1st-floor corridor, outdoor baths with views of cherry blossoms, sake tasting service, an all-you-can-eat dinner featuring fresh seafood, scallop ramen for breakfast, a springtime horse-drawn carriage ride, and a 1st-floor lounge where coffee is always available were all fantastic.

    Highly recommended!

    I brought my mother, who just turned 88, from the Kanto region, and although I was hesitant at first, I’m so glad we made the trip! The Michinoku Festival was especially exciting for her. It was truly worth it to show her this. In Kanto, the cherry blossoms had already ended, but here we were able to enjoy them again—it was so moving. We relaxed in a foot bath while taking a walk and were healed by the stunning scenery. Although I thought long trips might be difficult now, choosing this place turned out to be the right decision. It’s a wonderful accommodation that everyone should visit at least once!

    For one person

    How much can you enjoy in one night? After completing the reservation, plan your activities and meal shuttle service while browsing the internet. Create a one-day plan: enjoy the floating bath during daylight and after dark, and also relax in the original hot spring. Spend time at the Hachinohe Horse Lounge, enjoy shows at Michinoku Festival Theater, and craft an adorable mini Hanagasa of a jumper. Take a morning stroll through the park, admire the charm of horses and ponies, relax in a footbath to warm up while taking deep breaths. My stay at Aomoriya was filled with smiles—a truly personal best experience!

    Enjoy a Fulfilling Hotel Stay

    A three-day, two-night trip from Kakunodate to Morioka to Hachinohe. On the final day in Hachinohe, we visited Hasshoku Center and Kabushima Shrine before arriving at Aomoriya around 4 PM. The property is spacious, with the main building divided into West and East wings. When receiving an explanation at the front desk, I muttered, "I might get lost," but they kindly provided a map of the facility and assured us to ask anytime if we had questions. The interior design gave off a feeling of spring finally arriving in Tohoku—uplifting our spirits! Upon arrival, we were treated to "apple juice from a tap." The Onsen featured cherry trees and light pink Tsugaru Vidro floating ornaments that were stunning as I relaxed in the open-air bath. For meals, we enjoyed dishes like marinated tuna rice bowls, scallop sashimi, and senbei soup. The Michinoku Festival show was incredible—the navigator's serious expression combined with powerful drums, flutes, and dancing left us deeply moved by the performers' passion. The next morning under clear skies, we took a stroll outside—taking photos by cherry blossoms and greeting ponies while spending nearly an hour enjoying the garden. For our send-off farewell gesture: staff waved flags until our car disappeared from sight—a testament to how exceptional Hoshino Resorts' hospitality is. I rated Room 4 because of an issue with the sliding door for the toilet—it didn’t glide smoothly and made a loud noise when closing despite trying quietly. Additionally, I could hear what seemed like similar noises from neighboring rooms’ sliding doors; hence my deduction of one point for this feedback note!

    Entertainment Accommodation

    We stayed with six people, including grandchildren, in two rooms. Although we have visited Aomori many times because we love it, this was our first time staying here. We watched the festival show, which was very well done. The staff worked hard and did a great job. The accommodation had a clear and unique character, which we appreciated. The concept centered around "Aomori's Festivals" is excellent. The idea of the "Apple Tree Juice" is also fantastic—turning what would normally be a self-serve drink station into an enjoyable experience was creative and fun. All the staff were welcoming, making our stay very comfortable. The bath was satisfying as it featured natural flowing hot spring water, and the decorations in the open-air bath were beautiful. This place is highly recommended for families with children! We had a wonderful time—thank you so much!

    Aomori Theme Park

    From the corner of the road, we noticed a signboard with a Nebuta painting and were amazed by the vast premises. We drove slowly, unsure of where the front desk was, but thanks to staff guidance, we checked in smoothly. At the front desk with a traditional Japanese ambiance, we enjoyed some drinks before heading down to the first floor. The elevator doors opened wide as my friends and I cheered in excitement. The hallway walls and ceiling were adorned with Nebuta decorations. The meal was delightful—grilled scallops and fresh sashimi captivated us as we ate enthusiastically. The restaurant offered private-like spaces, allowing us to dine in comfort. Although it required an additional fee, there was a stage performance showcasing Aomori's festivals and seasons. The staff's dedication brought life to this hotel experience; their efforts were truly heartfelt. Despite ending at 10 PM, this unique Aomori-themed performance left us deeply moved. In the morning at 8 AM, we participated in shamisen music-accompanied radio exercises spoken in Tsugaru dialect—it was such fun! On our second day, from waking up until check-out time, we fully enjoyed exploring inside the facility despite rainy weather outside. One night felt too short; leaving made us reluctant yet eager for another visit soon!

    Highly Satisfied

    This was my first time staying at this rank of Hoshino Resort. Being a large hotel, I expected it to be crowded, and while the dining area was very busy, the time reservation system helped manage it well. The meals featured plenty of seafood and were very satisfying. Breakfast included lots of scallops—so much so that I think I'm good on scallops for a while! The activities are paid but definitely worth experiencing. The performers' passion moved me to tears. Thank you very much!

    The activities were enjoyable.

    The festival show featuring the Nebuta was impressive and moving, while the Hachimanuma Lounge offered a relaxing and dreamy atmosphere. The horse-drawn carriage ride was soothing thanks to the gentle horses. Activities were crowded, making reservations challenging and requiring additional fees, but overall satisfaction was high. Surprisingly, scallop fishing brought back childhood memories and was quite enjoyable. As for meals, since it was a buffet, expectations weren’t high; however, the seafood wasn’t particularly tasty. I tried their shark specialty out of curiosity but honestly found it underwhelming.

    A must-stay when visiting Aomori!

    The bath is spacious with excellent water quality, and enjoying the snowy open-air bath while viewing the Nebuta floating on the pond is truly atmospheric. The staff are attentive and provide a comfortable experience. Meals feature a variety of creative menus using apples and local specialties, ensuring you never get bored—everything is delicious. We highly recommend experiencing the Michinoku Festival House. There’s no other accommodation where you can feel Aomori so deeply in just one night. The garden has a perfect walking path, and you can see ponies and horses, offering various experiences even during a short stay. Both children and adults thoroughly enjoyed it. If you visit Aomori, this is an accommodation you should definitely stay at least once!

    Everything is perfect! Simply the best!

    The room, meals, show, and staff service were all excellent. I usually stay at an Onsen to rest my body, but I often get bored and find myself with too much free time. However, at Aomoriya, the facilities were so enjoyable that I never got bored during my stay. The meals were luxurious and unique to Aomori—or rather unique to Yamadaya—offering dishes you wouldn't normally have the chance to eat. The show was moving as well; I regret not joining in on the final "Rassera" chant... My husband suffers from severe shoulder and back pain and received a massage from a male therapist. He said it was the best massage he has ever had after trying many places before! On our way home in the car, we talked about how we must bring our daughter next time while watching the farewell flags waving us off. We will definitely visit again next year! (By the way, there was a room with a nameplate reading "Hoshi" in one of the hallways that puzzled me for some time... Then I noticed a baseball on its wall—was that supposed to be Hoshi Hyuma's house???)

    Enjoyable Stays

    I stayed in November. The meals were buffet-style, but the entry times were staggered, allowing for a leisurely experience, and the food was very delicious. There was plenty of apple juice available as souvenirs, but no apple jam. The apple jam at breakfast was very tasty, so how about selling it like in Karuizawa? Aomori garlic is quite expensive in the Tokyo area, so I wanted to buy some but couldn't find any; instead, I bought roasted garlic. The Michinoku Festival conveyed the performers' dedication and was very enjoyable. There was a shuttle bus service to Motoyu (Motoyu), but I decided against it as I might catch a chill after bathing; it seems better suited for summer. It would be nice to have a printout explaining local dialects. Heba (Goodbye).

    High level of service

    I reserved breakfast at Nanbu Magariya, but the reservation was for a later time than I had hoped. Considering the shuttle service to Misawa Station, which I reserved to match the Shinkansen, I thought it might be better to change the Shinkansen to the next hour and the shuttle service to the next bus. Without explaining my circumstances, I inquired via email in advance whether I could change to the next bus if I missed the reserved one. I am very grateful that they adjusted the breakfast start time 30 minutes earlier, understanding my situation. I was quite moved by their thoughtful response without saying anything specific. I think their attitude of accommodating guests is wonderful. I stayed on a weekday and was surprised by the large number of foreign tourist groups. Some guests' manners were a concern, but I think it was within an acceptable range. Dinner was a buffet, and perhaps because there were many foreign guests, there was a long line at the robatayaki, which I hope can be improved. I would like to stay at this property again.
