    A Highly Satisfying Trip to Hiroshima

    My husband and I stayed here during a midsummer trip to Hiroshima. I had saved this Accommodation as a favorite for a long time, hoping to stay here someday. It absolutely lived up to my expectations—I was very satisfied! Even my husband, who isn’t much of a traveler, praised the Accommodation on our way home and said he really enjoyed our Hiroshima trip. When we visit Onomichi or Tomonoura, we’d love to stay here again.

    Truly located right on the waterfront, with outstanding views.

    I stayed for two nights. It was hot, so I took a bath before dinner. I made a Reservation for the private bath and was looking forward to it, but there was no shower chair, so it was difficult to wash myself (I have trouble with my legs). A shower chair was provided in my Room, so I really enjoyed the in-room bath every morning and evening. The meals were very thoughtful, with plenty of dishes—almost too much food. They were delicious, but I would have liked a few more vegetable dishes. Also, while we were chatting, the staff would interrupt to explain the dishes, which felt a bit bothersome. It was very convenient that the pier for boats to Sensui Island is right in front of the Hotel. The coffee made with the coffee mill in the Room was truly excellent. However, the coffee after breakfast tasted like it had been boiled and wasn’t good—please improve this. The difference compared with what’s in the Room is far too big. One more thing: during dinner they make up the futon bedding, but at that time a pillow I had left on the bed in my Room was taken away. Also, although other trash in the Room was cleared away, the trash in the toilet bin was left untouched from day one. On the second night I finally called and asked them to remove it. There is a bar corner where you can have drinks. I planned to have a beer later, but everything was cleared away without anyone saying anything around me, which was disappointing. I had one the next day and it was good. It also disappointed me that drinks from the bar corner are not allowed to be taken back to your Room. It would be ideal if there were various drink options after an evening bath besides tea or water—so I hope you will allow bottled drinks from the bar corner to be brought back to your Room.

    We had a comfortable stay.

    The staff were very kind and made our stay extremely comfortable. However, I would like the amount of Onsen water in the in-room bath to be increased. We were told that the water would be replenished as it decreased, but even when the level dropped significantly, it did not refill promptly. Also, before the trip, after a credit card test authorization for the travel payment by IKYU, my card was used fraudulently and I had to have it reissued. I was afraid to register the new card number on the IKYU website, so I did not do so; however, on the day of our stay, payment still went through—perhaps because my card issuer provided IKYU with updated card information. I consulted with the Accommodation in advance and apologize for causing concern. However, after returning from the trip, there was fraudulent use of my new credit card again the following week, which left me feeling sad despite what had been an enjoyable trip. For reference, I did not share this new credit card with anyone and of course did not use it. Going forward, I am now afraid to register and use a credit card on IKYU’s website. Something similar also happened around February this year when I made a Reservation through IKYU. This is already the third time this year. Until then, I had never experienced any fraudulent use at all.

    Maintenance is required.

    I was looking forward to my stay because the Reviews were highly rated. Regarding the Facility, the wall of the open-air bath was left broken and deteriorated, and the sliding door to the washroom would not move. I also couldn’t adjust the temperature of the open-air bath; I asked the front desk, but it didn’t change much, so I ended up forcibly stretching the shower hose to the tub to add water. The meals were delicious and beautifully presented, featuring fresh seafood ingredients. The service was polite and pleasant, so I hope they will put a bit more effort into maintenance.

    An Accommodation we wholeheartedly recommend for sharing a special time with someone important

    We stayed here to celebrate a proposal—one of life’s most important milestones. What impressed us most during our stay was the thoughtful attention from everyone, especially the person in charge. For the surprise proposal, they handled everything flexibly to match the situation, including preparing and handing over the cake and bouquet, which allowed me to feel at ease on the day. Thanks to that support, it became an unforgettable, truly wonderful time. Every dish was genuinely delicious, and the explanations were perfectly paced—not too long or too short—so we could enjoy not only the flavors but also the dining experience itself. The atmosphere inside the Accommodation and the views were also outstanding, and we were able to relax from the heart. Above all, we were so happy that their desire to make our stay memorable came through in every interaction. Thanks to them, both my partner and I naturally found ourselves saying, “Let’s definitely come back for anniversaries,” and it became two irreplaceable days for us. I am truly grateful that we could welcome such an important moment of our lives at this Accommodation. This is a wonderful Accommodation I can confidently recommend to anyone who wants to spend special time with someone important—whether for a proposal or a wedding anniversary. Next time we visit, I hope we can return as husband and wife.

    We had a wonderful time!

    It was my first trip with my best friend. We had long been hoping to travel, even though we’re both constantly busy in our daily lives. The bath in our Room, the private bath, the meals, bar time, and the hospitality from all the staff were wonderful—truly relaxing both body and mind. Everything was taken care of for us.\nWe could take it easy in the morning too, and I can’t count how many times we soaked in the Onsen. My best friend kept saying, “I’m so happy!”\nThe view from the Room was also great—we really enjoyed the unique scenery of the Seto Inland Sea. Next time, we’d love to visit during the fireworks. Thank you very much.

    We had a wonderful time.

    The tranquil scenery of Tomonoura unfolded right before my eyes, and I was able to spend a relaxing time. The staff’s attentive care was also very impressive—thank you. The in-room open-air bath was clean and pleasant to use. The meals were great as well. However, one disappointing point was the sea bream-shaped monaka served at the end. It had only about half the usual amount of mochi and sweet bean paste inside and felt quite empty—half of it was just the monaka shell. If it isn’t possible to change the amount of filling, I think adjusting the size of the shell could help. Overall, we had a wonderful time, and I would like to visit again with my wife for another relaxing stay.

    All the staff greete...

    All the staff greeted us with warm smiles and provided very attentive service, which made our stay truly relaxing. The view from our Room was wonderful, and we kept saying how amazing it must be on a clear day. Exploring the surrounding area was also enjoyable and had a charming, nostalgic feel. Since the large public bath is by Reservation only, we were able to unwind at our own pace. The stonefish shabu-shabu was delicious, and the next morning they served miso soup made with the fish bones for breakfast—it was excellent.

    Both dinner and breakfast were outstanding, and we were extremely satisfied. Each dish was thoughtfully prepared, showcasing the freshness of the ingredients—truly excellent cuisine. We enjoyed every bite.

    We had a wonderful stay.

    The Room, service, and meals were all excellent. From the Room and the indoor bath, you can enjoy the same view praised from Fukuzenji Temple as “Japan’s finest scenic spot.” The meal featured a series of carefully crafted dishes; the sea bream rice to finish, bean soup, and sashimi were especially delicious. I couldn’t finish the sea bream rice, but they kindly made it into rice balls for me, which I enjoyed the next day at Senkoji Park—this was wonderful, thank you. Tomonoura town is also just a 3-minute walk away and has a great atmosphere; I walked through its old streets again and again. The Accommodation building has an unusual design and is fascinating. The only slight deduction for the meal was considering the price.

    It was wonderful!

    The location and the staff’s service were both excellent! At the end of our stay, it seems my elderly father accidentally left something behind, but even though it was an old pill case, you carefully sent it to us—my parents were truly touched. Thank you for everything!!

    It was a wonderful Accommodation that made us forget the hustle and bustle of the city.

    A hidden-gem Accommodation tucked away down a small alley. The exterior has a charming, traditional feel, and the moment you step inside, you’re struck by the vast open space rising to the roof and the impressive historic beams. Relaxing in the complimentary drink area at the entrance made us lose track of time. The corridor leading to the lobby beautifully blends old-world character with modern lighting. The instant we entered our Room, we were truly moved—it was exciting. Both the Room and the view were outstanding. The staff’s guidance was also very courteous and excellent. The in-room bath was perfect in both temperature and atmosphere, but the private bath we used early in the morning—right at sunrise—was an unforgettable experience. Because our check-in was a bit late, all Reservation slots were already full for that day, so our options were limited, which was slightly disappointing; however, it worked out well since we ended up bathing while watching the sunrise. Dinner was superb—both flavor and presentation—and made us feel as if we were dining at an ultra-luxury restaurant. For breakfast, we could choose Japanese or Western; our family tried both, and everything was delicious. It felt wonderfully indulgent from morning onward. Thank you to all of the staff for your attentive hospitality. We had traveled a long distance by car, but this wonderful stay made all our fatigue disappear. Thank you very much.

    I thoroughly enjoyed the charming seaside scenery.

    The seaside view from the Room was soothing. I was able to relax while soaking in the semi-open-air bath. Each dish was carefully prepared, and everything tasted wonderful. The sea bream rice cooked in a clay pot could also be made into sea bream ochazuke, which was a nice touch. Since there is no parking lot, it was a bit inconvenient, but they promptly provided Shuttle Service each time to and from Hotel Ofutei where we parked our car. I would love to visit again.

    I’m glad I came back.

    I visited once before the COVID-19 pandemic, and even then all the staff were wonderful and the food was outstanding, so I had been wanting to come back for a long time. This time, there were more lounge areas and additional private baths, and everything felt even more upgraded. Not only that, but the view from the window, the in-Room bath, the amenities, and every meal were all excellent and completely satisfying. Every member of staff was lovely—especially the younger team members, who kindly held our heavy luggage for us until the shuttle bus arrived when we were leaving. Their service was truly exceptional. I would love to visit again when I start missing those baths and meals.

    The location was great!

    Based on the Reviews, we stayed for one night and two days. It is an old folk house–style Accommodation. After the renovation, the Facility was clean and well maintained. After check-in, we walked around Tomonoura and used the lounge, but there was crushed food (crackers?) on the floor and lots of food crumbs on the sofa as well. Isn’t anyone checking the lounge? The Room and the private bath were very pleasant, and in particular we were able to relax while looking out at the sea from our Room. We were told that temperature control is centrally managed. It was disappointing that we couldn’t set it to a comfortable level. There was no explanation that we could enjoy a bath tour at your sister properties, and we only realized it later in the evening. We would have appreciated being informed. The meal was described as “supreme,” but it felt like a waste of good ingredients. It strongly gave us the impression that the creative cuisine didn’t work out well. Both the fish and meat felt wasted as well. Service quality varied greatly depending on staff members. We hope everyone can provide hospitality at a consistent level. At checkout time, wouldn’t it be better to avoid leaving the front desk unattended? We were told it was due to being short-staffed because of Shuttle Service and luggage handling, but this is something you can anticipate day to day—so there may be an issue with staffing allocation. The Reviews were excellent so our expectations were high, but we were disappointed. We hope this becomes an Accommodation worthy of its price point.

    It was a wonderful Hotel in every way. A 250-year-old traditional house has been incorporated into the Hotel entrance—I was amazed by how bold it is... Everything else was great as well.

    We made wonderful memories.

    We stayed for one night and two days. All the staff were friendly, and we felt very comfortable. The view from the Room, including the sunrise, was wonderful and relaxing. When making our Reservation, I mentioned that it was my birthday this month and that we were staying to celebrate, so thank you for the surprise at the end of dinner. We made wonderful memories. This is an Accommodation we would love to visit again.

    We had a relaxing stay.

    We stayed here on the second day of a trip to celebrate my older sister’s 70th birthday. It was our first time visiting Tomonoura Onsen, so we chose this Accommodation because it had excellent Reviews. The shuttle bus was very helpful, but since we had a rolling suitcase, it was a bit difficult to bring it onto the bus as there were only seats and no space for luggage. On the way back, the staff kindly carried and loaded it onto the bus for us, which we really appreciated, but I do hope boarding and getting off could be easier even with larger luggage. Both dinner and breakfast were very delicious. Dinner in particular looked beautiful as well, and you could really sense the chef’s taste and creativity—we truly enjoyed the meal. As for the bath, although there was one in our Room, the water temperature was lukewarm and it felt inconvenient that we would have had to contact the front desk about it. Also, the inside of the tub was quite slippery/slimy; it didn’t seem like an issue with just the hot water itself, so in the end I did not use it at all. It was disappointing for an Onsen Accommodation. The staff’s service—from arrival through send-off—was kind and courteous, making our stay very pleasant. In particular, the person who assisted us at dinner provided wonderfully attentive service that made dining very comfortable. However, regarding after-meal drinks at breakfast on the following day: I waited thinking they would be brought out after our trays were cleared away, but no matter how long I waited they never arrived. Only after I called out did they finally start preparing them. That left me feeling slightly uncomfortable at the very end of our stay. Since you took our order for after-meal drinks in advance, I would like you to take responsibility for serving them at an appropriate time. The person who took our order was nearby but chatting with other staff members; when I spoke up they only replied briefly without further action right away. Everything else would be 5 stars for me, but this time I rated it 4 because of that experience.

    All the staff greeted us with warm smiles and excellent service. The views were wonderful, the food was delicious, and we were able to relax and enjoy a truly pleasant stay. There are still many places left to explore in Tomonoura and the surrounding area, so we would love to stay here again. Thank you for a wonderful time.

    The Room had a wonderful view, and the bed was comfortable and spacious. Above all, the meals were delicious. My mother cannot eat certain ingredients, so we really appreciated that you prepared an alternative for her. The staff were also very kind to us. Both my mother and I were very satisfied. Thank you.

    A relaxed, leisurely atmosphere

    If you arrive by car, you will park at an affiliated Hotel. The staff provided courteous guidance, and we arrived at the Accommodation without any issues. Services were provided that satisfied guests. The in-room bath and the private bath were both clean. However, since it is a semi-open-air bath during this season, you may feel a slight temperature difference. The water temperature was slightly on the hot side, and it did not seem possible to adjust it yourself. The meals were delicious, but many dishes were elaborate; it would have been even better to have some dishes that simply highlighted the ingredients themselves (freshness and flavor).

    The view from the Room offered a direct sight of Sensui Island, allowing us to fully enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the Seto Inland Sea. It was also in a very convenient location for exploring the town on foot.

    The Room was very spacious and clean, and the open-air bath was wonderful. The exterior has a traditional old-house style, but the Room has no unnecessary tatami rooms—everything is furnished with tables and chairs, a sofa, and beds—so it was comfortable and easy to use for guests like us with back and knee issues. The calm, breathtaking Seto Inland Sea view from the large windows is also amazing. You can see Bentenjima at a perfect distance with Sensuijima behind it straight ahead, and watching the Heisei Irohamaru ferry travel back and forth to Sensuijima from the nearby pier never gets old. It made me feel I could understand what the Joseon Tongsinsa once felt at Taichoro. The building itself is full of charm as well, especially features like the covered walkways. Many of the staff seemed to be locals; while there were a few moments when I wished they had noticed certain things sooner, everyone worked hard and their sincerity came through. The meals were not ultra-luxurious, but they were carefully prepared, delicious, and made with an abundant variety of locally sourced ingredients. Overall, we were very satisfied. However, I had expected to try filefish sashimi because it was mentioned on the official website, so it was disappointing that it wasn’t on the Ryokan menu. The improvement I most hope for is better temperature control in the relaxation lounge. We planned to use it after dinner but it was too cold to stay long, so we left right away. Since it’s a high-ceilinged space with an open atrium in an old-house style building, I understand winter can be chilly—but as such a nice lounge area, I hope it can be made comfortable to enjoy. Lastly—this isn’t directly related to the Ryokan—but while sightseeing around town we noticed vacant houses and shops that didn’t seem to have customers. It seems difficult to balance preservation with daily life here; however, given how much history and atmosphere this area offers as a tourism resource, I couldn’t help wondering if more could be done to make better use of it.

    I felt relaxed.

    Stayed at a seaside ryokan. I enjoy traveling with a focus on accommodations that include an onsen in the room. The amenities were well-equipped, and I thoroughly enjoyed the onsen. I was satisfied to find shower caps provided, as many hotels nowadays do not have them readily available. Although meals were not served in private rooms, partitions ensured privacy and distance from other guests, which was appreciated. The dishes made use of local ingredients that are rarely available in daily life, leaving me impressed. The conger eel sashimi and Spanish mackerel sashimi were delicious without any strong flavors. There were many dishes served with generous portions, but I managed to finish them. Some ryokans offer services like water dispensers or bringing water bottles to the room in thermoses; however, this service was not available here. The manual coffee grinding set was enjoyable to use but lacked enough water for more than one cup. For two people, 2 liters of water would be ideal. Thank you for your hospitality!

    It was the best accommodation.

    The room was compact, but the spacious terrace made it feel larger than its actual size. The layout was functional and easy to use. The staff provided excellent service. The meals were suitable for seniors, offering a variety of small portions with vibrant colors, and both dinner and breakfast were satisfying. A wide selection of beverages was available for unlimited consumption, which would be especially delightful for those who enjoy alcohol. The view from the room was great, and if you don't insist on a natural hot spring source, this is an excellent accommodation.

    Made our memories with loved ones even more special.

    Yesterday, I stayed for one night at "Onyado Chikurintei." Despite the significant delay in check-in and meal times due to unexpected snow, they kindly prepared a simple in-room meal with great care and provided warm hospitality throughout. I believe the true essence of an accommodation is revealed during unexpected situations, and their service and attentiveness were truly exceptional, leaving me deeply comforted. This is a special accommodation that I would love to stay at again next year.

    I stayed at the accommodation for the first time in a year. It remains a wonderful place, and my son was very happy. The baths are relaxing, and the meals are incredibly delicious without any complaints. I’m glad I could stay again. Before our stay, I received a confirmation call, and unlike other accommodations, the phone service was pleasant. During that call, I mentioned that my companion this time would be different from last time. However, despite this information being shared, during dessert at dinner we were told "Happy Birthday," which caused quite a bit of confusion for me. Since my son's birthday is next month, I managed to cover it up by coincidence; however, as a hotel’s response to such situations—this raises concerns. In some cases, this could lead to arguments with companions if not handled properly. Despite informing you over the phone about bringing someone different this time around—it seems that information wasn’t communicated internally. While it may not fall under personal information issues per se—I strongly felt that privacy should be respected more carefully. Sometimes good intentions can backfire unexpectedly. I hope all staff members will ensure proper handling of guest information moving forward and continue striving for excellence in your services!

    The food was very delicious, and the room with a private open-air bath was excellent and satisfying. However, there was only a folded type of pillow available, making it difficult to choose the height or firmness. It would be great if there were more options or types with varying heights and firmness. Being able to sleep comfortably is very important, so I hope this can be improved in the future.
