    Fully Satisfying Bath

    The bath was very satisfying. However, the air conditioner was old, and the vents were dusty. There was only one key for the Room, which was inconvenient. Dinner portions were slightly large and not suitable for elderly guests.

    I stayed in the main...

    I stayed in the main building and fully enjoyed the charm of this traditional ryokan. There was no trace of the typical smell of old accommodations, and everything was meticulously cleaned, making it very comfortable. The food and bath were excellent, but above all, the hospitality was outstanding. The surroundings were quiet, making it an ideal place to relax and rejuvenate in the room.

    Main Building 10-Tatami Room

    This time, I reserved a slightly larger room. Being a corner room, the breeze passing through was pleasant, and the view from the window showcased vibrant greenery in the garden. The sound of the river and wind was also soothing. The onsen and meals were as satisfying as always. The grilled fish in the morning was especially excellent. It’s an accommodation I’d love to visit again.

    I visited Yugawara Onsen in the early spring, and it felt like stepping back in time to an old Japan. The atmosphere was peaceful, with a slow pace that soothed both mind and body. The Onsen Ryokan, said to have been built during the Taisho era, was like a museum piece with excellent preservation. The room I stayed in was a well-maintained Japanese-style room featuring a small raised seating area. The highlight was undoubtedly the onsen's water quality—it felt so wonderful that I found myself soaking multiple times. The meals were carefully prepared and delicious. The staff provided just the right level of support from a respectful distance, embodying what I believe is the essence of traditional Japanese hospitality.

    Experience the Charm of Yugawara

    Just steps from the bus stop, this accommodation offers a nostalgic Showa-era atmosphere. Stay in a room with an open-air bath, including dinner and breakfast. Among the many dishes, the fresh sashimi and bamboo shoot rice (harvested from the nearby mountain) for dinner, as well as the hearty clam soup for breakfast, were particular highlights. The peaceful and quiet environment allowed for minimal interaction with other guests. Revisiting Yugawara after some time reminded us of its exceptional hot spring quality. Amid rising accommodation costs these days, this stay was truly satisfying. Thank you very much!

    Would love to visit again!

    I have visited Yugawara many times, but this was my first stay at Fujitaya Accommodation. I’m glad I stayed! My initial impression is that I definitely want to visit again. The bath is simply amazing. It’s well-maintained and clean, with a deep tub where you can soak and relax. Even after getting out, the warmth stays with you for a long time, making you feel truly warmed to the core. The meals were also excellent, featuring seasonal ingredients in every dish—everything was delicious and highly satisfying. The room had a very charming atmosphere, allowing me to enjoy a relaxing and extraordinary experience. I would love to visit again during another season!

    Fujitaya Ryokan alwa...

    Fujitaya Ryokan always makes me feel at ease. I was looking forward to this stay because I had such a relaxing time during my previous visit. The hot spring water remains gentle and abundant, and the large public bath I tried for the first time this time had a high ceiling and a spot in the changing area where you can cool off while enjoying views of the courtyard. I was able to bathe repeatedly and worked up quite a sweat. The open-air bath in the Room is accessible anytime, making it very comfortable. Every meal was delicious, especially the beef hot pot at dinner, which we enjoyed with just its broth—it was incredibly tasty. Having both dinner and breakfast served in our Room truly highlights the charm of staying at a Ryokan. The staff, including our attendant, were attentive and polite; they even noticed our luggage right away and carried it for us. Thank you for providing such a relaxing experience. I’m already excited about when I’ll be able to visit again!

    The staff did not speak Japanese, were untrained, and it was disappointing in many ways.

    I had high expectations due to the good reviews, but I was very disappointed. The room attendant was a Vietnamese man. He was kind, but we couldn't communicate well. Although he mentioned he has been in Japan for seven years, there were various disappointments. When I asked to confirm if the private bath reservation was made, he simply said "You can enter." Since there are two private baths available, it is necessary to know which one is reserved in order to use it. There were no explanations about the meals, so I didn’t know when to add raw meat into the hot pot. When I asked about a specific menu item, he only mentioned that it’s part of a standard menu; however, what I wanted to know was its content. Upon closer inspection, there were items not listed on the menu as well. The placement of miso soup and rice bowls was chaotic too—my rice bowl placed at the top right corner left me unsure if it belonged to me or not (rice should be on the left). Please ensure proper training for staff members moving forward. The bath itself felt wonderful!

    A traditional Ryokan with a comfortable atmosphere and high-quality Onsen in Yugawara.

    Yugawara Onsen offers a quieter experience compared to Atami or Hakone, with many truly excellent, historically rich accommodations run by individuals. The property has its own hot spring source, and the onsen water is odorless and tasteless but very rich, completely relieving my body’s fatigue. I enjoyed both the large public bath and the private bath. Although the building is historic, it was well-maintained and impeccably clean. The bathing areas were particularly outstanding. The meals featured local ingredients and were more than satisfying—absolutely delicious. The morning clam soup and dried horse mackerel left a lasting impression on me. All meals and procedures were completed in the room, making for a seamless experience with excellent customer service throughout my stay. I also enjoyed Kibimochi from Koume-do in my room, so I bought Kibimochi from Efuyasan as souvenirs on my way home. I would love to visit again!

    The Onsen was excellent.

    The building had a historical feel and a great atmosphere. The Onsen was at the perfect temperature, allowing for a relaxing and enjoyable experience. The staff were polite and cheerful. As for the meals, they were slightly too rich in flavor for us, as we are accustomed to lighter tastes, which was unfortunate.

    I stayed in a room with an open-air Onsen in the new building. Both dinner and breakfast were very delicious. The large public bath was clean and had great Onsen water. Additionally, the service was attentive—thank you very much. One request: while there is a sunken kotatsu, there are no chairs or beds, which made it difficult to get up from the tatami floor repeatedly as a modern guest, causing back pain. I would love to visit again, but could this point be improved? Or is it challenging due to being a traditional accommodation?

    The customer service was top-notch!

    The traditional Japanese-style Ryokan atmosphere was abundant, providing a very comfortable living environment for someone like me, an elderly person (78 years old). The men's bath, with its circular high ceiling, was extremely pleasant, and the private bath was also a comfortable space to relax. What stood out the most was the friendly demeanor of the staff, including the attendant (a beautiful lady resembling Kimiko Kuga!) and others I encountered throughout the Property. Their warm and attentive service left a lasting impression. In many Hotels or Ryokans, the yukata provided in the Room is often L (large) for men and S (small) for women. Being petite, I usually have to call and request an exchange, but this time, thanks to the attendant's thoughtful judgment, the yukata was exchanged before I even had to ask. I truly appreciated this customer-focused service. From the attention to detail regarding bathing instructions to the careful arrangement of meals (in a private Room), I felt a strong sense of consideration for the guests at every point. This was my first stay in Yugawara, and I have grown fond of the place! Thank you very much.

    5th time use

    In the cold season, I wanted to visit an onsen nearby with good hot water, delicious food, and a relaxing atmosphere, so I chose my favorite, Fujitaya. This time, the attendant was a man (probably a foreigner), but he was kind and the service was excellent. The scallop mousse pie was exquisite. It's a property that makes you want to visit again soon.

    Well-maintained Stays

    Thank you for the weekend. It was a lovely property with a very charming building, well-maintained in every corner. The bath was enjoyable as it alternated between male and female use at different times. The meals were just the right amount, beautifully presented to please the eyes.     Due to the New Year holidays, I assume there might be some reasons.

    The best and not-so-good aspects of the meal. One dish for dinner was kinmedai (bite-sized) wrapped in cellophane like a pouch with broth, probably steamed in a steamer. This was likely convenient because it could be prepared efficiently and in large quantities while keeping it warm. It seemed like a dish specifically for the busy season, and I would like to think that such simplified dishes are not usually served. It was a visually lonely dish. Although it was probably heat-resistant cellophane, I felt uncomfortable with wrapping food in artificial materials. As for dinner, the other dishes were generally compact in size. It might be just the right amount for seniors, but it would be insufficient for young men with big appetites. It seemed like the result of efforts to keep costs down was apparent. Breakfast was very satisfying. There were plenty of side dishes that went well with rice. The splendid dried horse mackerel and thick omelet were very delicious. It was a memorable breakfast. The bath was very comfortable and wonderful. There was a spacious area to relax after bathing, so it didn't feel crowded even during the busy season. The open-air bath and the large round bath were refreshing, and I thoroughly enjoyed both. If I may wish, it would be even more fulfilling if we could bathe throughout the night... If that's not possible, at least extending the bathing hours to 1 AM or allowing bathing from 5 AM would be appreciated. The two private baths were reservation-based until 10 PM, but there was no issue with not being able to enter at the desired time, and after 10 PM, if they were available, we could use them throughout the night, so we could enjoy them to the fullest. The woman who served us was very pleasant and provided excellent service, with no unpleasant experiences. The head clerk and all the staff had no issues with their responses. We had a very pleasant stay.

    Extraordinary Onsen Stays

    Stay at the cultural property-registered Fujitaya, where you can experience an extraordinary atmosphere from the entrance. Inside, you'll be guided to a spacious 10-tatami mat room, offering a time-slip experience. The room is equipped with a kotatsu, providing warmth and relaxation. The nostalgic wooden shutters, haven't seen those in a while! Head straight to the onsen and enjoy the large bath. The high ceiling and spacious area, with a water temperature of 42 degrees, feel incredibly pleasant. Afterward, enjoy the open-air bath and private bath, totaling five baths before checkout. Is this what they call paradise? I was able to wash away all the grime and worries of the year. Meals are served in a separate room with chairs for comfort. Delight in the shirako ponzu, appetizers, and sashimi. The main dish, domestic beef grilled on a ceramic plate, is tender and delicious. The next dish, simmered kinmedai, is sweet and superb! The grated surf clam is refreshing and tasty. The staff seemed Vietnamese, but their Japanese was excellent and well-trained. Thank you. It became a wonderful and satisfying memory!

    The wonderful hospitality of a long-established Ryokan

    I came across this charming building during a walk last year and decided to stay. It is the second oldest Ryokan in Yugawara, and I was a bit overwhelmed to stay in the room where Heihachiro Togo once stayed. However, the proprietress and staff provided warm and heartfelt hospitality, allowing me to relax completely with their attentive service. I was amazed at how spotless the entire property was, including the beautiful interiors, which made me feel elegant wherever I was. The baths were perfectly clean, and I enjoyed the soothing hot spring water with three types of baths: open-air, large bath, and private bath. The meals were all delicious, and the timing of the service was perfect. The dishes were visually stunning, and the fluffy, slightly sweet omelet made me happy from the morning. I was completely satisfied with everything, but I would appreciate it if there were a hairdryer with more power, like a Salonya, although it's not a problem since I can bring my own. I understand that maintaining this level of service at this price range requires considerable corporate effort. My mother, who accompanied me, was also impressed, saying, "A prestigious Stays is indeed different." I would love to visit again at the end of next year. Thank you very much.

    The bath, the meals, and the Room

    Once again, the expected quality of the water and meals relieved my fatigue and provided healing. The sunburned skin I had before coming also became smooth every time I entered the Onsen, truly remarkable water. The disappointing part was that a pair of women were talking loudly in the large bath, opening the window to cool their bodies, and using it for a long time, which coincided with my visits almost every time. This can't be helped, but I wish I could have enjoyed the water a bit more slowly and quietly.

    The property is not large and is cozy, but it is very comfortable. The meals are just the right amount, and the taste is pleasantly delicious. The onsen is truly the best, and I found myself going in and out repeatedly. This property is highly recommended for a relaxing stay.

    Cultural heritage building and exquisite spring quality

    The first time was in the new building, but this second time, we enjoyed the main building, which is a cultural property. Since it was before it got really cold, we were able to enjoy our stay in the room without any issues. Both the meals and the bath had a sense of hospitality and elegance, and I particularly liked the quality of the Onsen water. It was like a beauty serum you bathe in, similar to the Onsen in Kyushu. I would like to visit again in a different season.

    It was a relaxing and happy moment.

    Fujitaya. I impulsively made a reservation because it was listed in Rurubu, but honestly, I didn't have high expectations for the room since it was an old ryokan. However, the reviews and reputation were very good, so I went with some anticipation. Although I arrived a little early, I was warmly welcomed from the entrance, and the room attendant kindly explained the facilities and baths in detail. All the baths were very clean, and I particularly liked the open-air bath with its warm floor and jet bath inside the tub. By chance, I was the only one in the bath, so I was able to enjoy it at my leisure. The dinner was very delicious, like kaiseki cuisine, with beautiful presentation and a large variety of dishes that left me full. The breakfast also had a wide variety of dishes, and I ate so much in the morning that I didn't need lunch. The room was indeed old, but it was thoroughly cleaned, which impressed my husband, who loves cleanliness. The room attendant mentioned that cleaning is quite challenging because it's an old ryokan. The ryokan's layout is a bit complex, so I, who am directionally challenged, got a little lost, but the staff kindly guided me, which was helpful. My husband and I had been busy for a while, so this one-night, two-day trip to Fujitaya allowed us to relax very much. I would love to visit again.

    Very good Ryokan.

    In this retro Ryokan, you can feel the owner's taste in the decor and ornaments. The meals are very delicious, and the Onsen has good water quality and the Facility is kept clean. The service is also very attentive. Yugawara has few foreigners, allowing for a quiet and leisurely stay.

    It was a Ryokan that made me feel somehow nostalgic. It was nice and quiet with few people, but I was concerned about the road being close and the air conditioner making a strange noise every 20 minutes or so. The bath, both the large public bath and the open-air bath, was good. I was also impressed by the abundance of clams in the morning clam soup.

    A great Stays that I don't want to tell anyone about, but want to share with someone

    First, while carefully preserving the old, the electrical appliances such as air conditioners and refrigerators were new, making it very comfortable. The cleaning was thoroughly done and very clean. The baths were also very lovely, and I enjoyed trying all of them. The food was delicious, especially the breakfast, which was wonderful and left me so full I couldn't move. The service was impeccable, and although I don't want to tell anyone, it's a great Stays that I want to share with someone.

    It was a bit disappointing.

    The reviews were good and the ratings were high, so I had high expectations. However, perhaps due to some personal circumstances, the atmosphere of the service was poor from the moment we arrived. We arrived about 20 minutes early, which might have been the issue, and I felt uncomfortable and couldn't relax. After returning home, I checked the reviews again, and it only deepened the mystery of whether it was really the same Ryokan... The attendant was nice, though.

    A beautifully luxurious traditional wooden inn

    We used the facility for a day trip with my son and two others. The building was more wonderful than expected, and above all, it had a very elegant appearance. When my son borrowed a smartphone charger, they lent him an Apple genuine product, which made him happy. We enjoyed the reputed flowing hot spring bath and delicious dinner. Although the voices and noises from the neighboring room were quite bothersome, we plan to stay overnight next time.
