    Refresh yourself by taking multiple baths in the private Room bath.

    A spontaneous trip led me to visit Kirishima Shrine, and I stayed at this accommodation where the warm welcome with tea and various onsen provided a relaxing experience. The luxury of having two private baths attached to the room was exceptional. The rock bath was indeed slippery as advised by the staff (laughs), but it felt like a space where families could enjoy themselves without worry. Dinner in the room, paired with hot water-diluted sweet potato shochu, was delightful until the very end. Thanks to the thoughtful service of the accommodation staff, I enjoyed my favorite appetizers as snacks while drinking and managed to finish everything without waste, which left me satisfied. However, since each dish is small and there’s some waiting time between servings, men might find it lacking in volume. Overall, I had an enjoyable stay. Looking forward to visiting again!

    A truly wonderful time

    It was my first time staying at a high-end Ryokan. I entered feeling a bit nervous, but as soon as I stepped inside, it felt like another world, making me forget it was located in the city. I went with my grandmother, and we were deeply impressed by the staff's thoughtful hospitality. The meals were exceptional in both quantity and taste, truly worth the price. Hearing birds chirping and watching them bathe in the garden allowed me to relax and escape from reality. It’s an accommodation worth saving up for again—I’d love to return someday!

    A relaxing space was...

    A relaxing space was available in the town. The bath, in particular, was wonderful. The meals were delicious, especially the breakfast, which was very satisfying. However, while the Room was spacious, it wasn't room service dining, and I felt there could have been more consideration for individual guests. Initially, when I wasn't feeling well and asked if there were drinks like Pocari Sweat available, I was told they didn't have any and that there was a store nearby. Honestly, this left me disappointed as I had to go out to buy some myself. Later on though, they showed thoughtful care by checking in with me afterward.

    Dinner is exceptionally delicious.

    I stayed for three days this time. I was impressed with the delicious dinners, which had a different menu each day. I would love to come back and dine again!

    I stayed in a detach...

    I stayed in a detached property. It was almost too spacious, haha. There was even a kitchenette. However, if you're planning a multiple night stay, having more space is better. The open-air bath was very nice. The private bath's water was too hot to enter for long, but this one had just the right temperature. Since it has a roof, you can enjoy it regardless of the weather conditions. However, the indoor bath didn't have enough water flow and never filled up; even the shower wasn't functional... It didn't provide enough water to wash my hair, so I moved to the public bath for shampooing. It's disappointing since I chose this room specifically for its attached bath... Dinner was served in our room and we were satisfied with the hot dishes delivered to us. Breakfast was at the dining area but it was noisy due to children; I would have preferred having breakfast in our room if possible. In the bedroom, there were beams right at eye level which felt slightly intimidating.

    We stayed for two ni...

    We stayed for two nights. We couldn't stay in the same room for multiple nights, so we stayed here on the first night. Meals were enjoyed at the dining venue. The food was delicious, but it seemed a bit noisy as children were also allowed to stay at this property, which is rare for a property with this number of rooms. Also, I thought it would be nice to have fruits instead of sweets during breakfast. The large public bath had very smooth water that made my skin feel silky. The door to the open-air bath was too heavy and difficult to open. Additionally, there was a cold draft from an always-open window? door that made me shiver even while washing my hair. It might not need to be left open all the time (perhaps guests opened it...). There was only a shower room in our room. Unexpectedly, outside noise could be heard, and I couldn't rest well in the morning due to voices being heard nearby... Perhaps they were neighbors... Since it's more centrally located than expected, it might not be suitable for those seeking tranquility. Many young staff members were friendly. The shuttle service from the airport was a very welcome service.

    I don't understand why the rating is high.

    ① About Meals The menu listed "kuruma shrimp" but it was actually sea bream? Fried items were not served?? I realized that this was not the "small quantity, delicious" menu. When I checked with the staff, they replaced the menu towards the end of the meal (it seemed like they were replacing menus at other tables as well). What is the purpose of a menu? It was unpleasant to be served something different from what was written or not served at all. ② Regarding Amenity Issues Trying to refresh myself, I went to take a bath in my room and noticed there was lotion but no toner. I called the front desk (rang about 10 times - wish they'd answer faster) and informed them about the missing toner. They said they provide an all-in-one gel, but when I told them it was lotion and not an all-in-one gel, they said they'd bring one over. About 10 minutes later, they brought an all-in-one gel but wanted to check inside my room; so I had them "confirm" that there was only lotion and no all-in-one gel in my room. Shouldn't checking for amenity issues be done before guests check in? Until now, properties reserved through IKYU equaled good properties for me, but due to this incident, I'll have to change my perception.

    If you are staying, be sure to choose the detached room.

    We stayed in a separate villa. Since it was our first time in Kagoshima, we chose Ibusuki, famous for its sand baths, on the first day and Yakakutei on the second day. There were reviews saying that the separate villa was wonderful, so we made a reservation for it. We arrived at the property early before 3 PM and relaxed in the lounge with matcha and Japanese sweets while enjoying the beautiful garden, which soothed our tired bodies and minds from driving. Before 3 PM, we were shown to our room—a spacious separate villa with a view of another beautiful garden—and both an open-air stone bath and an indoor cypress bath with flowing onsen water. The indoor bath is semi-open-air and spacious enough for four people to enter at once; it's quite luxurious. The furniture is tasteful, making it truly a relaxing room. While winter is nice too, I thought that visiting in summer would allow us to enjoy leisurely viewing of the garden from the veranda while cooling off in the evening breeze. The large public bath and open-air bath are also spacious with big saunas being another attraction. Perhaps because of how great our room's bath was, we hardly encountered anyone else at the public baths. And above all else—the food was delicious! It wasn't just typical ryokan fare; there was creativity involved in their kaiseki course which made it outstandingly good! Although dining could be done within your own room as well if preferred—dining areas overlooking lit-up gardens had such pleasant atmospheres too! Being close to Kagoshima Airport means if there's ever another chance to visit Kagoshima again—I would love returning here once more!

    Utilize Suki no Yado Yakakutei

    I chose this property thinking the service would be refined from the name "Suki no Yado," but the service was completely unsatisfactory. During meals, they brought tea by hand without using a tray, which was a bit surprising. I'm not expecting it to be like an Okura restaurant, but it was completely inadequate for the price. What is this with a reservation through IKYU? The taste of the food was good, but the timing of serving was too fast, making it seem like they wanted us to finish quickly and leave. At checkout, I paid with someone else's invoice. It was my fault for not noticing, but I've never made such a mistake before, so I paid as I was told. After a while, someone from the property realized the mistake and chased after us. The Kirishima trip was unfortunately disappointing.

    Second Stay at Muni-an

    This year, my schedule suddenly opened up, and I decided to go to Kagoshima for golf tomorrow. I ended up in the exact same Room as last year, but the quality of the meals has improved significantly, and I enjoyed them very much. I also had the pleasure of wine and sake pairings with dessert. Next time, I would love to have a Japanese tea pairing for those who don't drink, like my husband. Thank you very much.

    The bath was satisfying, and the meals were luxurious.

    The Onsen (bath) was satisfactory. I felt that the sauna could have been set at a slightly higher temperature. The meals were luxurious and delicious, but the breakfast portion felt too large for my age. It was unfortunate that the entrance of the guest room was narrow, making it difficult to open and close the door. It was somewhat questionable that there was only a shower in the guest room. Please reconsider the service in the lobby as well. It would have been nice to have coffee available, even for a fee.

    We were able to spend a very relaxing time. The meals were also delicious. The final dessert was excellent for both dinner and breakfast. If there is an opportunity next time, I would like to stay again. At our age, it's nice to have a shuttle service.

    A very satisfying birthday trip

    We stayed for a family trip of six people. The food, room, and bath were all excellent! The food was creatively prepared, and everything was beautifully presented and delicious. Especially, the beef shabu-shabu was so tender and delicious that the whole family was very satisfied. The stove pot had a lever instead of solid fuel (so the fire never went out), allowing us to enjoy it without rushing. The only disappointment was that we couldn't have the melon smoothie listed on the menu, but they provided an alternative which was also delicious. The rice was the best among all the properties we've stayed at. We were able to celebrate my mother's birthday with a cake and a special porridge request on the day, which was gladly accommodated, making for a joyful birthday celebration. The cake was not too sweet, and they sang along with us to celebrate, took commemorative photos, and it was heartwarming. My mother was very pleased. They also arranged the meal timing to match our family bath reservation, allowing us to enjoy the family bath at a leisurely pace. The room had a very large TV and comfortable beds. There was a service for drinks like water and tea. Additionally, the samue & geta with buttons at the chest were easy to move in and very satisfying. The option to have only the lighting at the foot of the bed was great for not disturbing sleep at night. The internet environment was good, and having many outlets was appreciated. The 11 a.m. checkout was also a pleasing point. It was a very satisfying family trip to Kagoshima. Thank you very much!!

    The best Japanese cuisine Extraordinary Onsen Stays

    I stayed at Yakakutei for the first time and was impressed by the wonderful cuisine. During my second visit, I was amazed again by the completely different dinner menu. The dishes were light and refreshing, enhancing the natural flavors of the ingredients. I was truly impressed by the indescribable deliciousness of the well-balanced dishes. The desserts were also exquisite, showing no compromise in quality. I was surprised by the chef's special "Nikujaga" that was not on the menu this time. How can one come up with such an idea for Nikujaga? During my previous visit, there were face towels available for unlimited use at the Onsen, so I went to the Onsen empty-handed, but unfortunately, that service was no longer available. However, I was delighted to find them during my second bath. (I would appreciate it if the towel service allowing guests to enter the Onsen empty-handed could continue.) I always use the Aiko building, but next time I plan to increase the number of people and use "Hinoki" and "Sugi." The amenities also have a very luxurious feel, and this time I didn't even bring my own cleansing products. The customer service was also very satisfying. Thank you very much.

    I have visited various Onsen across Japan, but the quality of the spring at Yakatetsu is outstanding and unforgettable for both my wife and me.     The cuisine was not the traditional Ryokan fare, but rather had the deliciousness of an authentic kaiseki restaurant.

    We thoroughly enjoye...

    We thoroughly enjoyed the private bath, large public bath, and the open-air bath in the Room. All the baths were clean and provided a pleasant experience. We were surprised by the wide variety of meal options available for children! The kids were delighted. We definitely want to stay again!

    It was one of the best Onsen experiences, ranking first or second.

    The bicarbonate onsen makes your skin smooth and is good for muscle pain, with plenty of water to fully enjoy the authentic flow. I entered it 7 times during my stay. The food was delicious and the menu was extensive. Also, the service from the room attendants was excellent, making it a wonderful ryokan. Additionally, in the morning, the mist in the courtyard with the sunlight created a rainbow, leaving a lovely impression. The hospitality of the ryokan staff (from the shuttle service staff to all employees) was excellent, and I definitely want to stay again.

    From the shuttle service to check-in, everything was wonderful, and I was moved by how lovely the property was. However, there were a few disappointing points, and I felt it was a shame because if those were improved, it would become one of the properties I would want to visit repeatedly. The access from Kagoshima Airport, the onsen, and the sophistication of the facility were perfect. However, since I came all the way to Kagoshima, I wanted to enjoy local cuisine. If I wanted to eat duck from Ibaraki, I would go to Ibaraki, so I wanted to enjoy the fresh seafood from Kinko Bay, and Kagoshima's black pork and black beef. Also, for breakfast, it would have been even better if the menu included health-conscious options like vegetable juice and salads. The chef's skills were excellent, which made it all the more regrettable. If the special order coffee, priced at 880 yen, was served with milk instead of Sujata and something other than white sugar, I think the satisfaction would have been even higher. Additionally, in the restaurant, private conversations were easily overheard, so it might be better to be cautious during guests' stays. Moreover, regarding the property, the ingredients used, and the combination of dishes, a more flexible approach rather than a standardized manual response would have been more favorable. Due to the high-end nature of the property, my comments are critical, but I look forward to its future development.

    Stays of Silence

    We stayed during the September holiday. Despite being a holiday, it was a very quiet property, and we were able to relax. The onsen was almost private, allowing us to unwind. The food was also very delicious. Thank you to all the staff for taking care of us.
