    Relax at a leisurely pace for the season.

    It was the perfect season—there wasn’t much crowding, so we could relax and take our time. Just riding around the grounds in a cart was enough to pass the time, which was great.

    Packed with highlights—even if you planned to just relax.

    I planned to relax and do nothing, but there was so much to see both on the property and around the island that I barely had time to just switch off. I tried to enjoy both the starry sky and morning yoga, so I ended up sleep-deprived. Some harsh Reviews from repeat guests stand out, but overall I was very satisfied. That said, at the buffet venue the food area is far from the seating, so going back and forth was a bit of a hassle, and it felt crowded (especially in the morning). At least drinks could be placed closer to the seating area. Also, the picnic breakfast was very filling—I saved the sandwich for lunch.

    Fourth Stay

    This was my first stay since the renovation. From the Room, I could see the garden and the ocean and enjoyed a wonderful view. The newly built pool was a bit cold in winter, making it difficult to use for long periods, but with its scenic location—including the sauna—it offered an experience that’s hard to find in Japan. The buffet was great for its Okinawa-style dishes and beautiful venue, but I was slightly disappointed by the high price and the limited menu changes during our Multiple Night Stay. Overall, I was satisfied, and I would like to visit again as this Accommodation offers a rare experience in Japan.

    It’s a truly wonderful Hotel!

    This was our first time staying at Haimurubushi. Three generations of our family, from preschoolers to relatives in their 80s, stayed together, and everyone was extremely satisfied—we kept saying we definitely want to stay again. The Facility was very clean and spacious, and the Room was also large and spotless. The meals were thoughtfully prepared with a focus on Okinawan ingredients and cuisine; they looked great and tasted wonderful. The staff were attentive and provided truly pleasant service. Even when it rained and both people and carts got wet at times, there were plenty of towels available, so we were able to stay comfortable. There are various animals on the grounds, such as water buffaloes and peacocks, which thrilled the kids. Thanks to Haimurubushi, we had a wonderful trip. This is a Hotel I highly recommend.

    Time to unwind at a leisurely pace

    At last, I was able to return. It was only a one-night stay, but it was wonderful. I was able to relax and unwind. I’m glad I chose to stay at Haimurubushi. Thank you, U at the front desk, for your courteous service. I’ll be back again—please welcome me with “Welcome back” next time too.

    This was my second stay, and this time I stayed for two nights, so I was able to relax and take my time. The Facilities and meals were excellent. I would like to visit again.

    The Diamond benefits were excellent.

    I was torn between this Hotel and another, but chose this one after learning it had been renovated. It turned out to be the perfect choice. The Room was spotless, getting around by cart was fun, the meals were delicious and full of Okinawan flavors, there was a large public bath, and the morning yoga felt wonderful… Every moment was amazing. I rented a bicycle for a short ride and joined the nighttime stargazing tour, so I ran out of time and didn’t make it to the pool or the beach—next time I plan to stay for two nights. Also, the Diamond benefits were very generous and felt like great value. It seems opinions vary after the renovation, but with its upscale atmosphere, I highly recommend it for an adults-only trip where you want to relax in comfort.

    It was very good!

    Both the Facility and the staff were wonderful. Everything was kept clean down to every detail, and it felt very hygienic. Breakfast was enjoyable, with Okinawan dishes as well. It was also helpful that we could use the shower room even after check-out. There is a heated pool in winter, which I was looking forward to, but it felt cold. I would appreciate it if the temperature could be a bit higher. I would love to stay again.

    It was the best stay.

    This was my first time staying at Haimurubushi, for two nights. I’ve stayed at several luxury Ryokan and Hotels on the mainland as well, but this was the best stay I’ve ever had. There seem to be many tough Reviews from repeat guests, but since I didn’t know what Haimurubushi was like before, this is an unbiased impression—and it truly offered value beyond the price. A lot of maintenance has clearly been done, and the facilities were very clean. From the airport, it’s a little over 40 minutes by bus to Ishigaki Port. At the port, you buy a ferry ticket to Kohama Island and board. It’s essential to check bus and ferry schedules in advance, but even if you have a long wait, there are plenty of restaurants nearby and lots to see around the port. As soon as we arrived on Kohama Island, staff holding a Haimurubushi sign welcomed us with wonderful smiles. The arrival guidance was smooth as well, making check-in comfortable and pleasant. The main building with the front desk also seemed newly renovated—clean and relaxing. After check-in, we headed straight to the pool area we’d been looking forward to. The grounds are very large, so getting around by cart is convenient. We made a Reservation for a Plan that included a cart, so we could use it without any extra charge. The staff were attentive throughout and quickly handed us towels whenever needed. There’s also a cold plunge pool—this is a proper sauna setup. Lying on a beach chair while listening to the waves was pure bliss. I heard it becomes a heated pool in winter, which makes me want to visit again during that season too. After enjoying everything for a while, we went straight to the large public bath. Since you’ll likely want to go directly from the pool to the bath area, I recommend bringing your change of clothes and bath items with you when heading out. The open-air bath had great views and was incredibly relaxing. For dinner, we paid an additional fee and ate at the steak restaurant. The staff service was excellent—they explained everything carefully and served us attentively—and every dish was delicious. At breakfast there were plenty of staff as well; they cleared buffet plates quickly, and I felt the food quality was very high. The selection was just right—more than enough variety to enjoy everything comfortably. On day two we explored the island by rental bicycle. We had lunch in town as well; after returning to Hotel later on، we took another walk around part of property grounds。 There were many animals—water buffaloes، water birds، goats، horses—and it seems like families would have lots of fun too。 I spent three truly happy days here。 This is an Hotel I can confidently recommend。

    We were able to relax and take it easy.

    I used the Plan with a rental cart, and since the Facility is spacious, it was extremely helpful for getting to the beach and the main building. The staff service was excellent, and the Room was clean—overall a great Hotel. Interacting with the animals was also heartwarming and really nice. I only had breakfast, but both the variety and quality of the buffet were flawless, and everything was delicious. Kohama Island in the off-season is relaxing and wonderful. I would love to stay again.

    One-of-a-kind, ultimate off-time

    What I love about Haimurubushi is that, unlike a large Hotel, you don’t have to worry about other guests. You can use a cart to explore the entire property at your own pace and fully enjoy being close to nature. To unwind after a year of hard work in such a luxurious setting, I spent the year-end holidays at my beloved Haimurubushi. This was my second stay since the renovation. Although the weather was unfortunately cloudy, it was much warmer than on Honshu. In this wonderfully indulgent environment where you can simply do nothing and relax in nature, both my mind and body were able to truly unwind. The newly added heated pool and sauna are fantastic—you can enjoy the pool even in winter—and I liked them so much that I went every day during my stay. I also used the adjacent spa after checkout on my last day; with the beach and shoreline just beyond the window, it’s a one-of-a-kind location for a treatment. The gentle scent of the treatment oil lingered all the way home and kept me in that post-trip glow. The restaurants, lobby, shop, guest rooms, and other areas feel cleaner and more comfortable since the renovation. Hygiene can be a concern at remote island resorts, but this Hotel feels brighter overall and has become an environment where families with small children can also feel safe and relaxed. For breakfast, in addition to longtime favorites like rafute curry and chanpuru, there’s now an expanded live egg station and bread selection. Everything is delicious; if I had to add one wish, it would be nice to have a signature dish that makes you think “I have to come back for this.” For dinner we chose the steak restaurant. The cold dishes as well as the meat were excellent, and we enjoyed a pleasant time thanks to its calm atmosphere that lets you dine at ease along with attentive service. This time we made no plans and took it easy within the Hotel grounds. You could also fill your schedule with activities—there are plenty—but having time to spend exactly as you please feels like true luxury. We’ll be back again.

    For stays in the Yaeyama Islands

    I had visited many times before the renovation, but this was my first stay after it. The restaurant and café bar felt more spacious and relaxing than before, which I really enjoyed. The only disappointment was the healing music played throughout the Hotel and in the Room. I usually like cool, Zen-style music, but on Kohama Island—after a long journey—it somehow felt out of place. (It’s strange, because at Hotels on Honshu I don’t find this kind of music uncomfortable; rather, it feels stylish and pleasantly relaxing.) In addition to a global perspective, local elements that suit the destination may be important as well. At the library live performance, I felt truly comforted by the storytelling and singing with sanshin, enjoying the warmth of the Yaeyama islands. I was also soothed by the smiles of all the staff—at reception and in the restaurant, with Shuttle Service to and from the port, bicycle rentals, activities, the beach area, and garden maintenance. It may be an AI era, but people are still a real treasure. It made me want to travel again with staying here as my main purpose.

    The heated pool was great. Watch out for crows.

    We stayed for 4 nights with two children (ages 2 and 6). The weather wasn’t great, so we couldn’t do the stargazing activity. We spent our time relaxing on the island. What the kids enjoyed most was the heated pool in the winter-only Quiet Pool. They played for about two hours. It felt a bit cold for adults, so one parent warmed up in the sauna while the other took turns watching the kids. After four nights we did start to get a little bored, but breakfast was excellent. For dinner, we avoided the Hotel buffet because it felt like it would overlap with breakfast (and make breakfast less exciting), so we ate at restaurants outside the Hotel instead. I didn’t expect Okinawa to be known for great sashimi, but the locally caught fish around the island was very good—if you like seafood, dining outside may be a good option. Also, you can buy snacks to go with drinks at the Hotel shop, such as ham and pickled mozuku seaweed. As for activities: our “Phantom Island” tour was canceled due to bad weather. We were able to do an Iriomote Island tour, but even though Iriomote is very close, you have to return to Ishigaki first and then head to Iriomote—there’s a lot of travel time loss—so it may not be ideal with small children. (And if anyone gets seasick it’s tough; if you take motion-sickness medicine they often end up sleeping anyway...) The 전망 Onsen and getting around by cart were also big highlights for our kids. If there’s one negative point: when we ate lunch on our Room terrace during the day, crows attacked us... Even feeding ducks (feed is sold for 100 yen) attracts crows as well. Kohama Island has many crows, and they are not afraid of people at all. They are extremely bold and persistent. Because there are so many crows, I think it’s better not to eat outside during daytime... (At night birds are asleep so it’s fine.) All over the island, if you leave belongings on your cart or bicycle even briefly, crows will come immediately. I feel that unless serious measures are taken against them, Kohama Island’s reputation could suffer.

    If it’s just the two of us as a couple.

    We stayed as a couple this time. I’ll simply list my thoughts. [Facilities] - Since it’s a remote island, being affected by the weather is expected, so being stuck indoors due to bad weather is within expectations. However, when that happens there is very little to do inside the Hotel. Compared with typical tourist destinations where weather has less impact, it would be better to prepare some activities guests can enjoy at the Hotel on bad-weather days. → For example, having a theater room and streaming several movies could add a special touch. Even if you offered paid services like popcorn similar to a real cinema, I think some guests would buy them, so it may be worth trying. This is just one idea, but something along these lines would be nice. - With such a large property, it would be more enjoyable if the large public bath had more variety of baths. It would also be nice if there were a sauna in the large public bath area as well. - Water is self-service (you go and fill it yourself), but it’s quite far from the Room. It might be nice if one 500 ml bottle were placed in the Room each day. In the end it was too much trouble to go fill water, so we bought bottled water at the shop every day instead. - There was a sofa on the Room balcony, but since it was left out in the rain I didn’t feel like sitting on it. [Meals] - The buffet lineup is fun for families with children. On the other hand, for adults only it feels lacking. - The course meal was delicious, but still felt not quite filling/satisfying enough. - It was disappointing that napkins were paper napkins on some days. - We ate Yaeyama soba at two other places as well during this trip, and this Hotel’s was by far the best—so I think you should sell it at the bar and beachside too. - The latte we had beachside tasted like low-quality machine coffee despite being priced like a Hotel drink (the price itself isn’t an issue). Since this is a tourist destination, higher prices are fine; I just want quality that matches them. - Depending on the weather we ended up spending more time at the Hotel, so I really wanted good café drinks. Overall: families with children can enjoy themselves here, so I think you should focus your concept and messaging more strongly toward families. If you don’t want to focus specifically on guests with children instead, then there are too few elements for couples/adults without children to enjoy—so you should add more options for them as well. In any case this place is heavily dependent on weather conditions; when the weather isn’t good there should be more ways for guests to have fun. All of your staff were very kind.

    We visited looking f...

    We visited looking forward to it as a year-end treat, but it was extremely disappointing. We upgraded and ordered the steak course, so both the Accommodation and the meal were expensive. Of course we paid what was required, but it ended up being a sad way to spend the end of the year. Mistakes can happen, but I was shocked by how poor the response was. I have never written a Review before, but I hope this will lead to even a small improvement.

    Outstanding hospitality.

    I felt the thoughtful touches that made it easy to enjoy a true resort stay. The renovated Facility, such as the heated infinity pool and the open-air bath at the panoramic large public bath, was perfect for enjoying Haimurubushi in winter. The front desk staff also kindly responded to my questions and requests. On the other hand, regarding dining, the buffet offers very poor value for money. Also, when carrying food, I would like to see carts available for guests with disabilities or elderly guests, or staff support to assist them.

    It was the best stay.

    This was my first visit. Getting around the property by cart was a lot of fun and very convenient. The ocean-view Room had an amazing view. I was also impressed by how attentive the staff were. It was often cloudy or rainy during our stay, but we were still completely satisfied. We were able to make a Reservation after arriving at the Hotel and join activities as well, so we truly had a wonderful time. I think it’s a place everyone should visit at least once.

    Couples’ Trip

    I have stayed here several times before. This was my first stay since the renovation, and I was more than satisfied with everything—from the hospitality to the services. When I went to see the horses, I especially enjoyed learning about the history of the Kohama horses from a male staff member who came to care for them, and interacting with Shiru’s family, who were born at Haimurubushi. I’ve already made another Reservation for next March and am looking forward to horseback riding.

    Facility

    There was an issue where the bathroom sink would not drain, but they promptly changed our Room. The staff were helpful, but the faucet in the new Room was also stiff. It was supposed to be renovated, so that was disappointing. The meals were very good. In particular, the pressed sushi at dinner was delicious. The breakfast waffles were also great—I could bake them myself and enjoyed them. At night, we enjoyed a sky full of stars. I’d like to visit again.

    The meals before the...

    The meals before the renovation felt significantly more delicious. The Sea Café menu also seems to have declined in quality compared to before, perhaps due to a change in suppliers. Also, when it used to stay open late at night, the starry sky viewed from the Sea Café was truly wonderful and was one of the highlights of visiting, so I was disappointed that there is currently no evening service. Overall, I feel the level of service and experience was higher before the renovation. I hope to see improvements going forward.

    It was really great!

    This was my first stay. We were blessed with great weather, and everything was truly wonderful—I definitely want to come again. Everywhere on the grounds was filled with tropical beauty and a relaxed atmosphere, and all the staff were warm and lovely. I don’t have a license so I couldn’t use a cart, but I really appreciated being able to use a bicycle. The food was tasty, but it felt slightly overpriced for what it was. Breakfast in particular overlapped with the dinner menu and didn’t feel fresh, so I’d love to see a bit more creativity. Also, having trays would be helpful.

    This was my first time using it.

    I felt it was a stylish Hotel. The Room was new and very comfortable. I understand the environmental considerations, but if there are no bathrobes, I would have liked one extra towel. At first, I made a Reservation for an ocean-view Room, but after considering the mixed Reviews and the response to my inquiry about the dinner menu, I downgraded the Room. The dinner and breakfast buffet were also very delicious, but with the originally reserved Plan, I might have felt it was a bit expensive. Overall, I feel it was a generally satisfying stay. Thank you very much.

    Family Trip

    It was our first trip to Okinawa—traveling from Ishigaki Island to Kohama Island—and we finally got to stay at Haimurubushi, which we had long hoped for. The Facility, explored by cart, was full of nature, and the Room, meals, staff hospitality, and the night sky were the best of any Hotel we’ve stayed at. Our family is already talking about going again soon. The time we spent at Haimurubushi has become a wonderful memory. Thank you very much.

    I was surprised.

    I came with high expectations after hearing about the renovation, and it exceeded them. When we arrived on Kohama Island, a bus picked us up. We left our luggage there, rented a car right by the port, and drove around the island. By the time we got back, our luggage had already been delivered to the Hotel and brought to our Room. The service was wonderful, and I was especially impressed by how many staff members there were and how attentive everyone was. The large public bath was spotless, and both the beach and its surroundings were beautiful. The coffee I had there was delicious—enjoying it upstairs in the beach building on the second floor is unbeatable. All of the meals were excellent, everyone was thrilled, and we got a little too carried away with drinks. After that we all went to a live show—the older gentleman singing had an amazing voice. His song about a kei truck in particular brought me to tears. The best hospitality, the best food, and unforgettable memories. I recommend treating yourself to a little luxury for this trip.

    A Special Stay You’ll Love

    The Shuttle Service from the port was in a private luxury car, and the manager showed us around Kohama Island, which made it feel truly special. The Room faces the sea, and soaking in the terrace bath while relaxing was deeply soothing for both body and mind. Relaxing in the lounge with an ocean view. Sightseeing by bicycle with reasonably priced rentals. We were able to enjoy a luxurious time. Thank you very much. The only inconvenience was that there was just one smoking area in the central building, and it was a hassle to get there by cart.

    I felt the price didn’t match the overall quality.

    It was a great place to relax. However, I felt the balance between the accommodation cost and the Room quality was not ideal. The staff were very attentive, the food was delicious, and I was highly satisfied with getting around by cart, as well as the pool and sauna. I hope you will renovate the Rooms and make this Accommodation even more appealing. I will visit again.

    We stayed for two ni...

    We stayed for two nights. The weather held up somehow on the first day, but from the next day it was incredibly windy—and the rain kept coming and going. It was my first time on Kohama Island, and I chose Haimurubushi to enjoy the stars, so I’d been feeling disappointed for days. But!!! In a way, it might have been better like this. If the weather had been good, we would have been super busy with stargazing and SUP, plus breakfast, dinner, the beach, running, and yoga! Those were all things I wanted to do, but I think I would have ended up exhausted rather than refreshed. Thanks to the bad weather, we were able to relax a lot (laugh). I was also worried about getting around because the property is so large, but there’s a shuttle bus between Center House and the beach. And if you contact them, they’ll pick you up between Center House and your Room—so there’s no inconvenience even without renting a cart. It’s also not too far to walk: about 15 minutes on foot from Center House to the beach.

    Due to the renovation,

    I visited after the July renovation. I’ve stayed at this Hotel more than 40 times, but I was disappointed that the repeat-guest services have been reduced. It feels like significant cost-cutting. As for dining, there were only three dinner options. Even light eaters had no choice but to select the buffet (8,000 yen). During my three-night stay, I chose the buffet twice, and both times the menu felt almost the same. The other night I had the steak course (13,000 yen). Compared with before the renovation, prices are higher while quality has gone down. I would like to see the Japanese menu restored to how it used to be. On a positive note, the beach pool facilities were great. One more thing still bothers me: when it came to drinks, I ordered a drink with the same name on two different days, but what I was served on Day 1 and Day 2 was different. Afterward I checked the receipt and it showed the same name both times—so even now I don’t know which one was correct. What about the pricing? It seems clear that someone made a mistake, and it left me feeling unsettled. *Also, only about two staff members were familiar faces this time, which gave me mixed feelings. P.S. Going forward, is “Haimurubushi” shifting its target customers from Japanese guests to younger international tourists?
