    It was a great Ryoka...

It was a great Ryokan. In particular, the attendant who assisted us at dinner and breakfast, as well as the lobby staff, were very polite and attentive, which made us feel very comfortable. The 4-star rating for the Facility was probably because in the Room we stayed in, we could hear a loud boiler-like noise at night, which was a bit disappointing. The meals were good, though it may come down to personal taste in seasoning. Other than that, everything was truly excellent.

I was able to show my appreciation to my parents.

With abundant natural hot spring water and warm hospitality, my elderly parents were delighted. The open-air bath in the Room was extremely relaxing, and before leaving we couldn’t bear to part with it, so we went back once more for a footbath. The hot spring water was of excellent quality.

    Hospitality

Thoughtful touches can be found everywhere—haiku by the head chef, calligraphy and paintings by the owner, and the proprietress visits every table to chat during meals. The Onsen was spacious and relaxing, and the food was truly delicious. This is one of my favorite Ryokan.

A Ryokan you’ll never regret staying at

From the welcome on arrival to checkout, the staff are consistently pleasant, and the proprietress’s attentive hospitality is impressive every time. The Ryokan is impeccably clean, and everything is well cared for throughout. The cuisine shows a clear commitment to quality ingredients—beautifully presented and delicious. It’s not just a place that serves many dishes; it delivers the satisfaction of dining at a proper kappo restaurant. After staying at other Accommodations in the same price range, you truly realize how outstanding this Ryokan is. Once you stay here, you’ll want to come back. It’s a bit far, but more than worth it—an exceptional Ryokan.

Once again this year, my heart was filled at Yukori.

Last year, we stayed at Asanoya on the Yukomori Plan. We were captivated by the sparkling new Room and the many art-like dishes prepared with great care. This year, we chose Yukomori again without hesitation. In-Room dining is relaxing, but having staff come in to set everything up can sometimes feel a bit bothersome. However, this Plan has a separate dining Room right next door, so we could spend our time comfortably without any concern. This year’s cuisine was even more impressive, with the head chef’s playful creativity shining through—surprises like fireworks in the Room and dishes served in ice bowls made it truly enjoyable. The attendant’s explanations were highly professional and well worth listening to. Thank you very much—we would love to visit again.

    We were very satisfied!

We stayed here for our wedding anniversary trip. Our meal was prepared in a Room diagonally across from ours, so there was very little walking, and we were able to dine slowly and comfortably in a private room. Before the meal, the lights were dimmed and we enjoyed a special sparkler presentation, which became a wonderful anniversary memory. The Onsen also felt great on the skin, and we were able to relax and enjoy it at our leisure. If I had to mention one thing, this was our first stay, and when we followed the navigation system it guided us into the center of Yumura Onsen and we ended up on narrow roads and got lost. It would be very helpful if there were several signboards along the national highway showing how to reach Asanoya’s parking entrance from the highway. At departure, everyone—including the head chef—saw us off, and their hospitality was extremely courteous. We would definitely like to stay again.

Asanoya has become even more comfortable.

On my first visit back to Asanoya in a while, the Accommodation was even more beautiful than before, and the staff welcomed me with warm, genuine smiles. Enjoying a forest-bathing experience in the open-air Onsen surrounded by cicada songs, and soaking in the large public bath filled with clear, pristine water, I felt the everyday fatigue that had built up over the summer melt away—I was able to relax from the bottom of my heart. It’s rare to find an Accommodation where everything is this complete: the Onsen, the Room, the cuisine, and the attentive care of the staff. And while many luxury Ryokan are extremely expensive, Asanoya offers this wonderful service at truly reasonable prices. I hope to spend my years ahead with Asanoya. Thank you again for everything on this visit as well.

    It was the best accommodation.

We traveled with our dog this time. Everyone at the Hotel was truly wonderful, and they kindly spoke to our dog as well, which made the trip very enjoyable. The Room was also very clean. It was great that towels were provided in the large public bath, so we could go multiple times without bringing anything. The area was properly cleaned, and there wasn’t even hair on the floor—excellent. Two days before our trip, I contacted you because my husband’s work might have required us to cancel, and I truly appreciated your sincere and helpful response (we were able to adjust things and still make the trip). My husband is going to support earthquake recovery efforts, and being able to relax in the Onsen will help him do his best. Thank you very much.

A Rewarding Getaway Just for You

Although the building has a retro feel and shows its age, it was very well cleaned, and we were able to stay comfortably. The meals were excellent with refined flavors, and we were truly impressed by the heartfelt hospitality, including the careful presentation—everything exceeded our expectations. The room attendant who looked after us also maintained a comfortable sense of distance. The large public bath and open-air bath were flawless; personally, I loved the strong shower water pressure. We were also captivated by the haiku poems and artwork said to have been created by the president throughout the property. This trip as a reward for myself was completely satisfying.

    The Best Accommodation

We have stayed at many Ryokan, but the cuisine at Asanoya was especially outstanding, and the flavors perfectly matched our preferences as a couple—we were truly impressed. You could feel the care put into each dish, and mealtime was genuinely blissful. The Room was also comfortable and relaxing, allowing us to enjoy a leisurely and luxurious stay. It was a wonderful Accommodation that we would love to stay at again.

This is our first stay at Asanoya.

My late father was from Yumura, and although I visited many times, I rarely stayed at a Ryokan. Once, when I stayed at a different Ryokan, a relative vaguely said something like, “That one isn’t locally owned…,” so this time I chose Asanoya, which is locally owned. Perhaps because it was an affordable Plan within Asanoya’s options, I honestly felt the Room could use an overall renovation. The layout is a bit unusual—spacious, but with complicated flow that feels like wasted potential. What felt truly luxurious was the dining arrangement: for just the two of us, we were assigned a separate private Room solely for meals in addition to our guest Room. Personally, I don’t really like in-room dining (eating in the same Room where you sleep), so this made me very happy—and it also made me wonder if I’d ever experienced this at another Ryokan before. The food was excellent. The sashimi in particular was outstanding. I’ve had meals at two other Yumura Ryokan before, and this was the best by far. The portion size also felt just right. The large public bath had a fairly spacious tub, which was nice, but it was very quiet—almost empty both at night and in the morning. Maybe because many guests use their private open-air baths instead? Although you can feel the age of the Facility, my overall satisfaction was high.

I stopped by while traveling in Tottori Prefecture.

I stayed here during a trip to Tottori Prefecture. I was amazed by the powerful waterfall at the entrance. The food was high quality, and it was an elegant Accommodation with a long history. The Facilities are not new, but the atmosphere was calm and pleasant. The hot spring water was excellent, and I was very satisfied.

Fully satisfied with the Tajima beef sukiyaki kaiseki and the open-air hot spring bath with free-flowing water

We stayed for one night over Golden Week as a group of three. We arrived without high expectations, but it turned out to be a very satisfying stay. [Dinner] We had the sukiyaki kaiseki. The dishes reflected the season in May and were beautifully presented, making the meal enjoyable to look at as well. The sukiyaki beef was Tajima beef and was truly delicious. The rice was locally grown, pleasantly sweet, and cooked slightly firm—just how we like it. The tempura, however, felt a bit less impressive compared with the other dishes, which was slightly disappointing. [Breakfast] There was a wide variety of items, and we chose multigrain rice. Both the multigrain rice and the clam miso soup were delicious, and dessert was included as well, so we were very satisfied. The grilled fish (possibly Spanish mackerel?) wasn’t quite to my taste personally, but that may simply be preference. [Room / Bath] We stayed in a guest Room with an open-air bath and enjoyed it twice—once in the evening and again the next morning. The water flow was plentiful with continuous free-flowing hot spring water, which felt wonderfully luxurious. [Points to note] Bedding (futons) was provided in the Japanese-style Room, but the cushioning felt somewhat thin; one of us said they couldn’t sleep well due to back pain. If this could be improved, I believe it would make this Ryokan even better. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay, and we would love to visit again.

    A truly wonderful Accommodation.

This was my first stay here, but I’d known the name for a long time and had always wanted to visit. Even though it was Golden Week, there was availability, so I was able to stay in Yukagori. ○Floor / Room The 6th-floor area is very clean. The Room is spacious and full of character, with excellent furnishings and a very comfortable bed. The ceiling-mounted TV may be a matter of preference. It comes with apps like YouTube, which made the kids very happy. There’s also a “just place it” charging pad on the table, plus a refrigerator underneath—charging had been mentioned often in Reviews, so I was more surprised by the refrigerator. The open-air bath in the Room is wonderful (hinoki cypress), and I was amazed that all the water—including the shower—is Onsen water. The shower pressure was slightly weak, but overall I was extremely satisfied. ○Meals Dinner (crab + sukiyaki) was outstanding—everything from the broth to the rice was delicious. Even though the crab is served whole, thoughtful touches like pre-cut slits in the legs made it easy to eat throughout. Because meals were served in a private dining room next to our Room, we could relax and enjoy them at our own pace. Breakfast also featured many carefully prepared small dishes; we could take our time and were very satisfied. The meals were truly excellent. ○Onsen / Public Bath Since many people have covered this in Reviews, I’ll keep it brief. Personally, compared with the size of this Ryokan, it felt somewhat small and gave a slightly dated impression. Green tea etc. are set out before you enter; however, there was a male staff member sitting there, which felt a bit odd. ○Lounge / Souvenirs Nothing particularly notable. ○Service Overall, staff service was attentive and polite. The origami crane service often mentioned in Reviews is also heartwarming. What stood out negatively were that one or two staff members came across as slightly brusque, and (a minor point) that the welcome drink service included Chandon—I found myself wondering why. I’m very happy there’s any welcome drink at all; but if we’re being offered something anyway, even half-sized would be fine—I’d personally prefer something like Moët & Chandon. I also would have liked an ice bucket/wine cooler. (Just my personal opinion. One Plan mentioned champagne service.) All in all, it was an excellent Accommodation.

    Thank you for your support.

Being selected for the “Top 100 Hotels and Ryokans Chosen by Professionals” truly showed in your staff’s guest-focused hospitality and service, the cleanliness throughout the Facility, and your thoughtful attention to amenities. I wish you continued success as you aim even higher. My car had trouble that day, but I sincerely appreciate your consideration. I made it home safely. Thank you very much.

    We had a relaxing stay.

I made a Reservation after seeing it online because it had a great atmosphere and reasonable rates. I was a little worried until we arrived, but this wonderful Ryokan exceeded my expectations. Fresh flowers were arranged throughout, and the staff were attentive. On top of that, the delicious meals were very satisfying. The only disappointment was that my aunt, who has difficulty walking, had to get off the elevator and use the stairs to go down one floor and back in order to use the Onsen. Other than that, we were completely satisfied. I would like to stay here again.

    Thank you very much.

We used this Hotel for the first time on a family Onsen trip planned using the hometown tax donation program. As soon as we arrived, they promptly took care of our car, which we really appreciated. After checking in at the front desk, the matcha served before being shown to our Room was delicious. The staff guided us thoughtfully so we didn’t have to wait around. The Room was spacious and impeccably clean. The sukiyaki kaiseki dinner was outstanding—I was amazed by how tender the beef was, and every dish was served with great care and delicacy. Breakfast was just as good. My writing can’t do it justice, but everything was simply delicious. The baths were very comfortable, and we enjoyed both the open-air bath and the geothermal sauna again in the morning. The location is also ideal—close to the center of town. What impressed me most happened at checkout. There was a short wait until our car arrived, and during that time a front desk staff member suggested some nice stops for our drive home—I think they were being considerate so we wouldn’t feel idle. When our car came around, I was surprised that three or four staff members came out to see us off. In my rush to leave quickly, I pulled out and stopped at a flashing red signal ahead (waiting for it to turn green—of course it doesn’t). But then it actually did turn green: someone from the Hotel had come over and pressed the pedestrian crossing button after noticing my car. I felt truly sorry (laugh). Then I looked over at the passenger seat and was even more surprised: there were two origami cranes with a note saying “Take care.” My wife usually says she never stays at the same Accommodation twice and always wants to try somewhere new—but this time, for the first time ever, she said she wants to come back here again. We had a wonderful family trip. Thank you very much (laugh).

Both the cuisine and the Onsen are excellent.

Although the property felt a bit old, we could enjoy our meals in the Room right in front, which felt like in-room dining. The food was delicious, and the Onsen was spacious with an open-air bath. Above all, the low-temperature natural sauna was excellent.

The Onsen and meals were especially good.

This was my first stay, and the Onsen and meals were especially excellent. The front parking area is quite small, so they take your car key and park it for you. We chose Room 205 (Deluxe Twin). I had received an email in advance saying the bedroom has no window, but I assumed the living or dining area would have one—however, there were no windows anywhere (the only view outside was from the open-air bath). I did not expect a windowless layout throughout, and it was disappointing not to have morning light. The Room felt new and well appointed. The table in front of the high-quality sofa was a “smart table,” with a refrigerator underneath; it also had built-in speakers so we could play music from a smartphone, and it supported wireless charging just by placing the phone on it. There were three TVs in total, including one above the bed, which made things very comfortable. It was also our first time using a Tempur bed, and my wife said she slept very well. The public bath had an open-air bath as well; it was spacious with great water quality that left our skin feeling smooth. The next morning we used the open-air bath in our Room; this also appeared to be Onsen water (many properties do not offer Onsen water in-room), and we could adjust temperature settings automatically—it was spacious and excellent. Both dinner and breakfast were served in a private room next door with separate access from outside as well, so staff did not need to enter our Room—truly felt like having everything within reach during an Onsen stay. Dinner was great in both quality and quantity; the Tajima beef grilled on a ceramic plate and the abalone grilled on a ceramic plate were especially delicious. The appetizers were beautifully presented too. Breakfast offered many items, and the chef prepared rolled omelets right in front of us. Overall, everything—the Onsen, cuisine, and Room—was wonderful; my only disappointment was that there were no windows (though I understand this may be reflected in the lower price). Next time I would like to choose a Room with windows. Also, after returning home I realized I had left something behind and called them about it. Even though it was their closed day they kindly searched but could not find it at first; when I called again the next day they discovered that staff had kept it safe for me, so I will pick it up later. Thank you very much to the Reservation staff for all your help with this matter.

    The in-room Onsen was wonderful.

The interior of the building was very clean and well maintained. We chose a Room with an Onsen; it was compact and felt perfect for focusing on the Onsen, so we used it many times. The meal featuring Tajima beef sukiyaki hot pot was delicious. The staff’s service was also excellent.

    First-time stay

I saw it on TV and made a Reservation right away. The building is understandably old, but we were very satisfied with the service and the food. We’d love to visit again for New Year’s, but winter travel by car would be difficult. It takes about three hours from Osaka. The proprietress even came to greet us—such a warm and welcoming Accommodation. We’d love to stay again someday if we have the chance.

It was a relaxing Accommodation in a historic Onsen town.

The warm, home-like hospitality from the proprietress, the head chef, and all the staff made our stay truly relaxing. Thank you very much. The Room Wi-Fi signal was a bit weak, but I was able to get some light work done while relaxing in the lobby instead. We will be back again.

My husband and I stayed here together. From the moment we arrived, the parking attendant and the front desk staff welcomed us with warm smiles, and all our travel fatigue melted away. Fresh flowers were beautifully arranged in our Room, and while it is a bit old, it was very clean. We were also happy to find several types of tea leaves provided, including sencha and hojicha. The Onsen baths were wonderful, with towels replenished frequently and regular cleaning as well. We also appreciated the post-bath service of black soybean tea and green tea. At dinner, the proprietress came to greet us (we stayed on a standard Plan) and explained that everything is handmade without any additives or instant stock powders. We were also moved by the haiku composed by the head chef, written alongside an illustration by the owner of this Accommodation and placed at each table. All staff we met throughout the property were kind and smiling, allowing us to relax comfortably during our stay—we are truly grateful. When we visit Yumura Onsen again, we would love to stay at Asanoya once more. Thank you very much for everything.

    Wedding Anniversary

Based on a recommendation from a guest we met a year ago at Ginpaso in Ako. We had heard the cuisine was outstanding, and we finally made it here. We were truly impressed by the wonderful dishes—just as rumored. We were also given a lovely painting with a message celebrating our wedding anniversary. We were told it was painted by the owner! Thank you so much—we are very grateful.

    Pet-friendly for a worry-free stay

Because we were traveling with our dog, we were worried about how close we might be to other guests, but the private dining room was on the same floor as our Room, so we felt at ease without any contact with others. Both the meals and the Onsen were perfect, but we deducted one star because the parking lot was far away and we had to leave the car with staff. When traveling with a dog you end up with a lot of luggage, so we would have liked to unload at our own pace. The food was wonderful, and next time we’d like to visit during peak crab season.

    We enjoyed a wonderful Onsen.

It was my first time back to Yumura Onsen in a while. My first impression was how surprisingly few tourists there were. The Hotel was quiet, and I was able to relax at a leisurely pace. The meal, carefully prepared by the head chef, was truly delicious. The attendant was also very friendly and approachable. The open-air bath attached to the Room had excellent Onsen water, and I was completely satisfied. Hanging scrolls by Maruyama Okyo and Watanabe Kazan were displayed casually, but I thought it would be even better if there were a bit more explanation or an in-house tour. As we stayed the day before our wedding anniversary, we received a painting from the Accommodation. Thank you for your thoughtful hospitality.

Thank you for your hospitality. We truly enjoyed the pleasant Onsen. The in-room Onsen was also great, with continuously flowing water. Regarding the meal, some steamed and simmered dishes were served early on, but they had already cooled a bit. It was disappointing, because they were delicious and clearly prepared with care. We would have liked to have them served piping hot at the right time, after we finished the appetizers.

    It was great.

It may not be a new Accommodation, but it seems to have been well maintained—the interior was clean, with many wonderful decorations, no carpet stains, and it was a lovely Hotel. Above all, the bath water was excellent; both the indoor bath and the open-air bath were spacious and very relaxing, so I enjoyed soaking for a long time. I had high expectations for the tagged crab in the meals, but aside from the grilled crab it wasn’t as good as I’d hoped. The beef was delicious, though. The only downside was that the bathroom floor in the guest room had vinyl flooring and felt cold. Even without crab, I’d like to come back in a colder season on a reasonably priced Plan to enjoy those baths again.
