    I was very satisfied with the excellent hospitality.

    Although the accommodation was slightly away from the center of Ikaho with many slopes, the prompt Shuttle Service was very helpful. The young staff were well-trained, making for a pleasant stay. Guidance and conduct in the Room were also impeccable. In this era of labor shortages, their attentive hospitality was remarkable. I found it to be good value for money as well.

    Highly satisfied.

    The room, facility, meals, and the service provided by the staff all exceeded expectations, making me feel for the first time in a while that I would like to revisit just for this ryokan. Although it was a short two-day stay and heavy rain on the first day made sightseeing nearly impossible, I am truly satisfied to have discovered this accommodation. I specifically chose a place with fewer guest rooms, and as a result, I was able to enjoy an extraordinary experience without encountering other guests outside of meal times. I hope to visit again during the autumn foliage season. Thank you once again to everyone at the facility.

    First Time in Ikaho

    Thank you for the wonderful experience. The accommodation had a great atmosphere, and the hospitality was excellent. The shuttle service to the stone steps and the drink-all-you-can option delivered directly to our room were impressive. The food was delicious with high-quality presentation, and breakfast was so plentiful that we didn’t feel hungry until evening. I would love to visit again when I go to Ikaho next time. Although I also used the bath in the main building, I found Kaunkan's bath slightly smaller but still very nice. The onsen's brown color made my body feel incredibly warm. It was just a one-night stay, but I am very satisfied!

    It was a truly wonderful time.

    We stayed here to celebrate our children's university acceptance, a place we had been curious about for a while. The room, "Kinkaku," was very spacious and comfortable. It seems that quite a few celebrities have stayed here as well. Meals were served in a private dining room, so there was no concern about food smells, and being just with family made it very relaxing without any tension. The food was incredibly delicious. For dinner, the appetizers, abalone (apparently the chef's creative dish), miniature garden-style presentation, and coffee pudding dessert were particularly delightful. Although we don't have photos of them, the additional orders of white-fried Akadori chicken and seared salmon sushi were also excellent. We missed reserving breakfast but were relieved when they allowed us to add it on-site. The breakfast was perfect! Overall, we were highly satisfied with the meals provided. The proximity of the baths was another highlight for us. While some accommodations require quite a bit of walking to reach their baths, at this property Kaunkan's bath is right in front of you and even the main building’s bath is just two minutes away on foot—allowing you to return to your room without getting chilled after bathing. The attendant who assisted us was friendly and engaging in conversation—a truly kind person. We also appreciated IKYU's complimentary drink benefit since our family tends to consume plenty of beverages. Although it's slightly removed from Ishidan-gai Street (Stone Steps Street), they kindly drove us there twice by car which made it very convenient. To top it off, they even gave us celebratory gifts for our children's success—thank you so much! If there's one minor downside worth mentioning: Kaunkan’s bath water felt slightly lukewarm compared to what we'd prefer; while not disliking cooler baths entirely—it would be nice experiencing both temperatures equally perhaps? On contrast though—the main building offered sufficiently hot water temperature-wise albeit leaving slight room-for-improvement regarding its open-air design potentially enhancing ambiance further still? Nevertheless—all staff members genuinely excelled throughout ensuring overall satisfaction ranks among best-ever Onsen stays experienced thus far personally speaking! Thank-you deeply again everyone involved—we’d love returning someday soon hopefully!

    Stayed during a graduation trip.

    The hospitality and service were excellent, but the age of the Facility was noticeable. Additionally, perhaps due to rising costs, the meals did not reach an impressive level.

    Relax and unwind

    A very relaxing property limited to a small number of guests. The meals were also very delicious, and the tableware was lovely. The open-air bath in the room was nice, but the only regret is that the room's bath is not an onsen. The onsen might be a bit lukewarm as well. Anyway, thanks.

    Relaxing Stays

    The property was clean, the room furnishings were tasteful, and the property was comfortable. The food was delicious, and the staff's response and demeanor were excellent, allowing us to stay with peace of mind. Only the amenities felt like a typical ryokan. Everything else was very satisfying.

    Everything was wonde...

    Everything was wonderful. However, the door under the Room's sink was splintered, and when trying to open it to see what was inside, my wife's finger got pricked by a splinter, causing her pain. Also, at 6:30 in the morning, the TV suddenly turned on at a high volume and woke us up. I don't know if there was an alarm function on the TV, but it was unpleasant. Other than that, there were no complaints and we were very satisfied.

    Enjoyed the Onsen in Ikaho

    I arrived at 10 o'clock, and not only was I allowed to park, but I was also taken to the stone steps and guided on how to download the map. Although there was time until the 2 PM check-in, I climbed the stone steps to the observatory, and while my legs were shaky, I felt refreshed. I visited for my husband's birthday trip, and I am very grateful for the consideration given to our room. The Onsen was a golden bath, which relieved my fatigue and I enjoyed it many times. Towels were unlimited, and there was easy access to the main building's large bath through a single door. I used the all-you-can-drink plan, and it was convenient to have the service of bringing drinks to the room if ordered by phone from check-in. The scent of incense throughout the building was pleasant, and the calm atmosphere was attractive. I was surprised to find that a small box in the room was stocked with stomach medicine and cold medicine. The staff's response was kind, and their attention to detail, such as the way meals were served, was excellent. The konjac daifuku served as dessert at dinner was so delicious that I bought some as souvenirs. It was original and came in a lovely bamboo container. I definitely want to visit again in a different season.

    First time at Ikaho Onsen

    Hospitality unique to a long-established Ryokan. The staff were also smart in their responses, allowing for a pleasant stay. However, the disappointing part was the meal. The overall taste, such as the fattiness of the beef, did not suit my preferences. Additionally, I canceled the final dessert as it was something I disliked. In Ryokans or Hotels of the same class, it is often the case that alternative desserts or fruits are offered, so it was disappointing that this was not available.

    A wonderful Stays in Ikaho

    I stayed at the property to gift my parents an onsen experience. We were lucky to be upgraded to a Ginkaku room, and were surprised by its spaciousness. The room was even equipped with band-aids and a sewing kit, which was another pleasant surprise. There is a lovely open-air bath in the room, but since it was a particularly cold day, we mainly used the indoor large public bath. I would like to visit again during warmer weather. Towels and other amenities are available on-site, so you can go to the bath empty-handed, making everything convenient. (You can also use the large public bath in the annex, but you need to bring your own towel there.) I also appreciated the in-room coffee set and chamomile tea service. Overall, everything was smoothly coordinated, and the teamwork of the staff was excellent at this wonderful property.

    We stayed as a couple. The open-air bath attached to the room was in a quiet environment, making it easy to relax, and the large public bath was also uncrowded due to the limited number of rooms, allowing us to take our time and enjoy it very much. Additionally, the attentiveness of the staff was wonderful. They noticed I was left-handed at check-in and adjusted all the subsequent meal arrangements for left-handed use. I've stayed at various properties before, but this was my first experience of such consideration, and I was deeply impressed. It's a property that makes you feel like one night isn't enough... I would like to stay here again when I visit Ikaho.

    I was able to relax and unwind!

    This was my first stay, although I often visit Ikaho. From the image on IKYU's guide, I thought it might be a small, newly established property, but I was completely surprised! I understood why the reviews for the service, guest rooms, and bath were so good. I was able to relax and unwind very much, and I was satisfied. Since it was lightly snowing, I would like to visit again in the season of fresh greenery.

    At a quiet Stays for adults

    I travel every November for my birthday month. It was my first time in Ikaho, and I visited here. Thank you for taking us to the top of the Ikaho stairs with the property's car. The lunch place you recommended was also very delicious. The hospitality was subtly attentive with a wonderful smile. The meal we had in the spacious room was beautiful and very tasty, which made the sake go down smoothly. The staff member who attended to us was enjoyable to talk to and made us feel at ease. We also enjoyed playing table tennis in the main building, and my husband had a great time in the open-air bath. I did think it would be nice to have a small open-air bath on this side as well, but other than that, the room was really clean and a very relaxing property. Thank you for arranging the delivery of the Yunohana Manju on our way back. I also ended up impulsively buying some stylish ceramics from the shop. It is a wonderful property with all the staff being very lovely, and I would love to visit again if I have the chance.

    Thoughtful hospitality that reaches every corner.

    This was my first time using the service. Everything was meticulously arranged, and I had a very comfortable stay. Each Room has a different theme; ours was birds, and we enjoyed the many owls in the welcoming sculptures, hanging scrolls, and various places. The Room also had a study, four safes, and provided tableware, which is reassuring for groups. The Room had both an indoor bath and an open-air bath, which was impressive. The toilet was tatami-matted. The futon and pillows were unlike any I've seen elsewhere. I believe they were carefully selected. This thoughtfulness contributed to our comfort. The coffee in the lounge was also delicious. All the staff members were friendly and welcoming. I would like to visit again.

    The room and bath are excellent! The meals are disappointing.

    I was impressed with the quality of the room and facilities. The onsen in the large public bath is also very comfortable. It makes your skin smooth. (It would be even better if there were steps to sit on in the bath.) The disappointing part was the dinner. It was small and finished quickly. A la carte is a must. Lastly, I am pleased with the variety of drinks in the in-room refrigerator. Sports drinks are refreshing after a bath.

    Healing Retreat Stays

    I chose this property because I wanted to spend time quietly and slowly and wanted to enjoy the onsen of the Golden Bath. Since there are only 10 rooms, the large public bath was not crowded, and I was able to enjoy it almost privately. There is also an open-air bath in the room, so I could take a bath many times, which was very nice. I was able to enjoy the delicious meals slowly in the room. The food was truly delicious. Also, wherever I was, there was a faint scent of incense, which made me feel good. The staff at the property were very calm, kind, and pleasant, which was healing. It was a property that I would like to visit to heal and retreat when I am tired.

    The Second Visit to Kouunkan

    We visited again for a family trip. As requested, last time we stayed in the Ginkaku room, so this time we stayed in the Kinkaku room. It was clean, very spacious, and extremely relaxing. The bath was wonderful, with water that kept us warm no matter how many times we entered. It relieved our fatigue. I received a facial treatment, and the staff was very attentive, leaving my face smooth. At night, we enjoyed a massage. It was a luxurious experience. The meals were beautiful and delicious, but the portions seemed a bit small, so the three of us adults ended up eating quite a lot of snacks, haha. There was an accident on the way, but the staff at the Ryokan were very kind and really helped us. We will visit again. Thank you very much.

    It was a bit disappointing.

    This is my second time using this service. There was one dish missing from the dinner menu. I stayed for two nights, but there was a difference in the quality of the meals. When I casually inquired, I was told that there are two head chefs who take turns. I was very satisfied with my first stay, but the second night was disappointing.

    The thoughtfulness, courtesy, humor, and teamwork of all the staff were top-notch. It was a very satisfying and wonderful trip. I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to everyone. There are many places I want to visit, but I definitely want to come back here someday.

    It was a lovely inn.

    It was a charming and lovely inn. When I mentioned that I wanted to walk the stone steps of Ikaho, they kindly drove me partway there, and when I asked to send a postcard to my family at home, they provided the postcard and mailing service for free, which was very considerate. The hot springs were pleasant, and we had a very enjoyable family trip, so we are satisfied. It was a bit disappointing that the room key was stiff and difficult to open and close, but we made wonderful memories in Ikaho. Thank you for taking care of us.

    Total excellence

    I stayed at this inn with my partner to experience a sense of escape from the ordinary, as it has few guest rooms. Despite having a limited number of rooms with private open-air baths, the price was reasonable, offering excellent value for money. The room was clean and lived up to the reviews. I was particularly impressed by the delicious meals, both dinner and breakfast. I would definitely like to stay here again.
