    Outstanding hospital...

    Outstanding hospitality—this is a wonderful Hotel! When my elderly father choked on a piece of steak at the restaurant, the staff rushed over immediately and supported me as I helped him, and thankfully he was fine. To the staff member who ran to us in that critical moment, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude once again. And the food is incredibly delicious! Each dish is rich in flavor and makes the most of the ingredients. Even my father, who had choked, finished all of his remaining meat, and our whole family enjoyed the desserts as well—everyone agreed they were delicious. I often hesitate to travel with my elderly parents who require nursing care certification, but we were able to stay together in one Room for four people, and this Hotel made me want to bring my parents again. We will visit again when we have the chance. Thank you very much.

    It’s a great place to relax in a cool, quiet setting.

    Although the building itself is old, it has been newly renovated and feels clean. The location is excellent, and the meals are good. However, due to capacity limitations, breakfast starting at 8:30 was a downside.

    I can’t find any reason to stay here again.

    The Hotel appears to have been renovated, and it was very stylish and clean. Since it is right in front of a small lake, I expected a highland resort true to its name, but from the room I could only see the dirty roof of the Onsen Facility. Most rooms face the lake with an open view, but it seems some rooms have no view like this. For dining, we were shown to a cheaply built restaurant where all you can see from what was probably an added window is just a thicket of trees. We were not assigned to the main building’s lakefront restaurant for either dinner or breakfast. If you stay at a lower rate through IKYU, it may mean being assigned to these kinds of rooms and restaurants. We were assisted by about 7–8 staff members in total at the front desk and restaurant, but I did not see a single smile. To avoid misunderstanding: there were no smiles, but I did not feel their service was unpleasant. It wasn’t unfriendly, yet without smiles I didn’t feel warmth or hospitality—just minimal necessary interaction. The only exception was an older woman in charge of room cleaning who had a wonderful smile. The food also wasn’t particularly good, and as a result I couldn’t find any reason to choose this Hotel again next time.

    The renovated facilities were comfortable.

    I booked a Multiple Night Stay to escape the heat. The view from my 4th-floor Room was wonderful, and I could relax while looking out at Mt. Fuji and the surrounding mountains. The renovated Room was very comfortable, with both the mattress and pillows allowing me to sleep soundly. Since the air conditioning is not individually controlled, it was a bit warm during the day, so I spent time letting in the cool evening air after sunset. The French dinner was excellent dish by dish, and you can really feel the chef’s skill. However, ordering drinks via QR code and receiving an incorrect table menu made it feel more like a cafeteria. I was disappointed because I had expected a more traditional French dining experience, but on the second night I adjusted my expectations. The stargazing session was explained carefully, and I was very satisfied to be able to enjoy a beautiful sky full of stars. Seeing Saturn through a telescope is a lifelong memory for me.

    Stay in the Starry Sky Room

    I stayed in the renovated Starry Sky Room. Because it was the farthest Room from the elevator along a straight corridor, the walk is long and may be difficult for elderly guests or those with mobility issues. The Room was very clean, spacious, and stylish. I made a Reservation for three people, but there were only two beds and no extra futon in sight, which was confusing; however, when I contacted the front desk, they responded right away. There were also some switches in the Room and at the sink that were hard to understand, as well as questions about how to use the in-room planetarium device, so having an instruction sheet or clear labels would make it even better. Both dinner and breakfast were very delicious.

    Excellent Cuisine and an Observatory

    The food was very delicious and thoughtfully prepared, but the final meat course—beef and lamb—was a bit too filling. Overall, I was very satisfied. The wine was a little pricey.

    The building, Room, and garden have been renovated, and I was mostly satisfied. What was disappointing was the corn served as a side with the meat dish—it smelled moldy. When I complained, someone who seemed to be the head chef explained that it was discoloration from zucchini, which I did not find convincing. Next time, I will choose No Meals Included.

    A soothing moment in our Starry Sky Room

    We stayed in the Stargazing Room. In a quiet, relaxing atmosphere, our whole family was able to unwind and spend a restful time together. The French dinner was delicious across the board, and the portions were just right. The staff were also very kind to our children, which allowed us to truly enjoy the meal as a family. During our stay, we took walks by the lake and fed the carp—our kids were thrilled. Unfortunately, it was cloudy so we couldn’t do any stargazing, but the indoor star talk was fascinating and still made for a special experience. It was a wonderful stay surrounded by nature that left us feeling refreshed both mentally and physically. We would love to visit again.

    Disappointed with the use of the large public bath

    We were informed that one of the large public baths was under repair, so the remaining bath would be used on a time-sharing basis for men and women. I didn’t realize it at the time, but because of the meal schedule, I couldn’t use the bath either before or after dinner, and the only available time was after 10:00 p.m., which was very disappointing. Shouldn’t this have been clearly explained when we were asked to choose our dining time? My husband went to the bath in the morning, but said the indoor bath was dirty and he didn’t feel like using it. In any case, if I had been able to use it, my husband would have had to wait until very late. Other guests were also complaining at the front desk. Breakfast was Japanese-style, but it felt like a pre-made assortment and wasn’t tasty. I’ve stayed here about four times and liked it until now, but I’m reconsidering staying again in the future.

    We were disappointed that we couldn’t see the stars.

    The Room was spacious, and we could see Mt. Fuji from the window. The view was wonderful, and the garden was also beautiful. However, although the weather was nice during the day, clouds gradually rolled in and we couldn’t see any stars at night, which was very disappointing. We would love to visit again when we can see the stars.

    The Onsen was full of insects. The Room was extremely noisy.

    I stayed for one night. Because my Room was next to the elevator, I was woken up at 5:30 a.m. by the elevator noise. Although it has been renovated and looks clean, the Facility is old. The mechanical noise from the elevator was so loud it felt like construction was going on early in the morning, and I couldn’t sleep. The Room is described as renewed, but the unit bathroom is still old as-is—now I understand why there are no photos of the sink or toilet. The Onsen was not properly cleaned. This was the dirtiest Onsen I have ever seen. I went for a morning bath, but the open-air bath was full of insects. It was at a level where insects would cling to you as soon as you got in, so I couldn’t bring myself to bathe. The indoor bath also had heavy grime buildup. In the end, I only took a shower and left. At night it was dim so I didn’t notice the insects, but thinking that I bathed under those conditions is frightening. The changing room is small and covered with hair everywhere. Even if it looks nice after renovation, it made me realize that staff awareness also needs to change. Breakfast was simple as well. I will not stay here again.

    It was nice and cool.

    We stayed for a Multiple Night Stay in the newly renovated stargazing room. It was spacious, and we were able to relax while watching the stars. We drove there, and the Hotel kindly let us charge our car; we also enjoyed the planetarium and had a cool, fun time. We were very satisfied.

    The view is exceptionally beautiful.

    Conveniently located near Kiyosato’s tourist attractions, even if the area has declined somewhat. The Hotel garden is beautiful, surrounded by trees, and you can spot wild birds. There is a pond of decent size, but because too many carp have been released and fish food is even sold, it has become a large, murky reservoir-like pond. I always take walks there and feel soothed by the beauty of the trees and birdsong, but I’m disappointed by the foul-looking muddy water. On a walk on the day of my stay, ducks flew in but soon flew away.

    It’s an attractive Hotel.

    There are plenty of activities to enjoy during your stay at the Hotel, such as stargazing events, a planetarium, and swan boats, making it a wonderful Hotel where you can be fully satisfied just by staying here. The atmosphere from the entrance was lovely, and the service was attentive, so we were able to spend a very pleasant and enjoyable time. Kiyosato seems to be famous for its beautiful night sky, and the stargazing event held after dinner was especially appealing. The Room has been renovated and is clean. The Onsen washing area felt narrow and cramped during busy hours, but since the bathing area has a high ceiling, it didn’t bother me too much. The food was excellent in both taste and presentation; however, because the timing of each dish being served differed depending on the table, the waiting time was long and it created an awkward lull in the meal. The service itself was good. Overall, it’s a wonderful Hotel with a strong resort feel—somewhere I’d like to stay again.

    A separate dining table is required for guests with children.

    At breakfast, we were seated next to a family whose children were poorly behaved and whose parents seemed to have abandoned responsibility, which was extremely unpleasant. The Hotel’s response was completely inadequate. While it is an issue for parents to bring unruly children to a Hotel of this grade, more families like this are appearing, and the Hotel should handle such situations more carefully. Since there are two restaurants, the Hotel should consider separating families with children from adults-only guests. We returned because we were very satisfied two years ago, but this time was very disappointing.

    A highland resort with outstanding views, dining, and service—one you’ll want to visit again.

    We stayed as three generations: my grandfather, a couple, and our 4-year-old child. The Hotel was very clean, and the lake view from our Room was beautiful and truly relaxing. There was also a playroom for children, which made the stay enjoyable. However, we noticed some parts of the play equipment had sharp, thorn-like areas and informed the staff. We hope this will be improved for future children. All staff were courteous and attentive, making our stay very pleasant. The bath facilities were comfortable, but in the changing area the space for placing clothes tended to overlap with other guests’ space. A small layout adjustment would make it even easier to use. Also, since both newer and older hair dryers were mixed together, it would be better if they were standardized. One thing we especially appreciated was having two EV chargers on site. Both were available during our stay and easy to use, but it was a bit disappointing that they cannot be reserved in advance. For EV users, whether charging is available affects charging plans during travel and how much battery remains upon arrival, so an advance Reservation system would be very helpful. Above all, both dinner and breakfast were excellent—so satisfying that we would like to return just for the meals. Overall, this was a wonderful Hotel with a great balance of scenery, food, and service—comfortable for the whole family. We would love to stay again when visiting Kiyosato.

    Fun for kids too

    The Room with a tent and hammock was great, and the kids enjoyed it too. Thank you for accommodating our food allergies. Stargazing was also fun. Just one thing: in the women’s large public bath in the morning, there was a lot of hair and grime in the bathtub. Other than that, we were very satisfied. We’d like to stay again.

    A Hotel Surrounded by Nature

    We stayed during the season of fresh greenery. The Hotel is quiet and lets you feel the changing seasons. We were able to spend time surrounded by nature and even encountered small animals. The meals were just right for us, with flavors that never grew tiring. Although it is a small Hotel, you can enjoy nature through walks in the surrounding area and stargazing at night (depending on the weather). We felt we would like to visit in every season—spring, summer, autumn, and winter. Thank you for a meaningful stay.

    Affordable, yet nothing is overlooked.

    I stayed here with my daughter on a mother-and-daughter trip. The newly built family room has bunk beds, and the view from the top bunk was exceptional. It felt like an indoor playground, and my daughter was thrilled. Best of all, there’s a pond on the Hotel grounds where you can feed the carp, ride swan boats, and enjoy a kids’ play area—plenty for children to have fun. The staff were kind and courteous, which made our stay very comfortable. With two meals included, it cost under 20,000 yen for the two of us. I didn’t expect much from the food at that price, but adults enjoyed a full-course meal and there was also plenty for children. Excellent value for money. I’ll be bringing the whole family next time.

    The meals are excellent.

    This was my first stay. Perhaps because it was a weekday, there were many older guests, and both the hotel and restaurant were very quiet and comfortable. The staff were exceptionally well trained, and I was very satisfied with both their hospitality and service. The meals were French cuisine. I enjoyed dinner for two days, and on both days the ingredients, flavors, and presentation were outstanding. After checkout I accidentally left something behind, but they contacted me right away and sent it to me with careful packaging. I would definitely like to stay again.

    A Quiet Accommodation for a Relaxing Stay

    The Accommodation has been rebranded and the Room has been renovated, so it was very clean. Since we were on the 4th floor, the ceilings were high and we were able to stay very comfortably. The food was delicious, and the portions were just right. Unfortunately, the weather was bad that day so we couldn’t do stargazing, but it was nice that everything was explained in detail. One thing I noticed… In the restaurant venue, I felt the spacing between tables was a bit narrow. We had stayed at another Hotel the day before, so I ended up comparing them. We were seated on the aisle side, and whenever staff passed by carrying food and such, perhaps because the floor is thin, our table would shake slightly… It felt like a shame given how delicious the meal was. All of the staff were polite and friendly with smiles, so it wasn’t an issue with their service attitude. That’s why it felt a bit unfortunate. Since we couldn’t see the starry sky this time, I’d like to come back for another try.

    The view of Mt. Fuji from the Room is amazing.

    This Hotel had the atmosphere of a highland resort, and we were able to see beautiful wild birds and even squirrels. We also felt welcomed by Mt. Fuji, which we could see from our Room, and the renovated Room and Facility were very comfortable. Unfortunately, it was cloudy during the stargazing session so we couldn’t see the actual stars, but the detailed explanations and observatory experience were fascinating. The French dinner we had been looking forward to was also excellent, allowing us to enjoy a relaxing and luxurious time. Thank you very much.

    Recommended as a base for exploring the Kiyosato and Yatsugatake area.

    For over 40 years since it first opened, I used this hotel often because of its convenient location, but in recent years I had been avoiding it. With changes to the name and management, I considered staying again for the first time in several years and was surprised by how exceptionally good the pricing was for the Plan contents, which made me wonder what it would actually be like. However, it was pleasant to see all the staff working efficiently with smiles, and I felt a lively atmosphere as if it had returned to its former days. That said, when I used the large public bath around 4:00 p.m., there was debris floating on the surface of the water, so it was far from relaxing after trekking. Disappointing.

    We really enjoyed th...

    We really enjoyed the planetarium and stargazing! Both took place inside dome-shaped buildings, and my wife was delighted, saying it was strange and fun that we could hear conversations from people on the opposite side coming from behind us. The instructor (the same person for both) was easy to understand, and we were amazed at how far the laser pointer reached. What surprised us most was that the same person even drove the Shuttle Service back to the station on our way home. Thank you very much!

    It ended up feeling like a Business Hotel.

    Perhaps because it became part of the MYSTAYS group, after the renovation it no longer feels like a Resort Hotel and instead feels like a slightly nicer Business Hotel, which was disappointing. At the French restaurant, drink orders are placed via QR code, and even when wine is poured for you, the glass is filled right up to the brim. No atmosphere at all. The price is reasonable, so you could say it’s fair for what you pay—but knowing how it used to be makes it all the more disappointing.

    A Hotel with Wonderful Cuisine and Scenic Walks

    Dinner was a full-course meal, and my family and I had a wonderful time. The beef portion was large and I wondered if I could finish it, but it was so delicious that I ate every bite. The coffee tasted a bit too bitter to me; adding a touch more acidity would make it a better match after the meal. We chose a Japanese-style room, which felt spacious and very comfortable. We could see the garden with its pond from the window, and the view was beautiful. Since it was said to be after renovation, my expectations may have been too high, but perhaps because it is a Japanese-style room, it did feel slightly dated. A few more updates would make it even better. The in-room bath was a hinoki cypress bath with a lovely aroma, so we ended up not using the public bath. However, my family said the sauna there was also excellent. Kiyosato is known as a summer resort area, but I think Kiyosato is also very pleasant at this time of year. This was my second stay at this Hotel, and all of the staff were friendly and welcoming. It’s a wonderful Hotel, and I would definitely like to visit again.

    The Room was clean a...

    The Room was clean and well-maintained, with just the right amenities. The meals were perfectly portioned and very delicious. Even my high school daughter, who is quite picky, found plenty she could eat. The air was fresh and the scenery was wonderful. The only disappointment was that it was fully booked, so we couldn’t join the stargazing event.

    It was a memorable stay.

    The guest room was comfortable and easy to use, and the Onsen was very relaxing, but what impressed me most was how wonderful all of the staff were—Shuttle Service, front desk, housekeeping, and restaurant. Thank you for your warm and attentive hospitality from start to finish. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious. Next time, I’m planning to stay during the autumn foliage season.     Thank you for a wonderful stay!

    This was my first stay, and I was truly impressed by what a wonderful Hotel it is! The building itself may be older, but it is beautifully maintained, and I had a very comfortable stay. The meals were absolutely delicious, and I could really feel the care put into each dish. The staff were excellent, the Onsen was very relaxing, and my trip with my mother became a truly special experience. I sincerely appreciate the effort to provide such high quality at a reasonable price. I would love to stay again. Thank you very much!
