    Staying here is worthwhile even just for the meals.

    Pet-friendly stays are in a separate building, but it seems to have been recently renovated and was very comfortable. The meals were served one dish at a time; while no extravagant ingredients were used, they were carefully prepared and had an elegant presentation and flavor. The service was courteous, making for a very pleasant stay. We will definitely return.

    The Onsen water was very good, but...

    Regarding the meals, it was very good that you understood our requests appropriately and accommodated them. However, the seasoning felt too strong; we would have liked flavors that better highlighted the ingredients. As for the Room, the view was excellent and the design—such as the walls—was cohesive, which was nice, but we would have liked improved usability.

    Guest Reviews of Accommodation Yamanosou no Yutori Shizuka

    We stayed here after viewing the cherry blossoms at Takato Castle Ruins Park and Kozenji Temple. We were satisfied with almost everything. If I had to mention one thing, I would like a power outlet by the bedside in the Room, as it’s convenient for charging a phone. Other than that, the Onsen, meals, and staff service were all excellent. The cuisine in particular had a Kyoto-style touch, and we enjoyed each dish. This is an Accommodation we would like to stay at again if we have the chance.

    Stay overnight after visiting Takato Castle Ruins Park

    It was an excellent Accommodation. The staff were very friendly, and the meals were delicious, making great use of local mountain ingredients. The area around the Accommodation was filled with cherry blossoms in full bloom, and we really enjoyed spring.

    The view is spectacular.

    It was great to see thoughtful touches throughout, such as a well-executed renovation of the traditional Room and fresh flowers displayed in the elevator. The bath was comfortable, and above all, the panoramic views of both the Northern and Southern Alps were breathtaking. However, dinner was overly seasoned (too salty), which was disappointing. Breakfast felt healthy with salad and even warm vegetables included, so I hope dinner can be improved. If that is addressed, this is an Accommodation I would definitely like to visit again.

    This was our second ...

    This was our second stay. As on our previous visit, the meals were carefully prepared, and the timing of each course was perfect. All the staff were very kind, and we especially appreciated their attentive yet unobtrusive approach. We were honestly surprised by how reasonably priced it is for that level of cuisine and service. Since the dishes feature seasonal ingredients, we would love to return again.

    Truly an Accommodation with spectacular views! The meals didn’t suit my taste.

    The panoramic view of the Southern Alps from the Room was outstanding. You can also see the Central Alps from the hallway. We truly enjoyed the beauty of the snow-covered mountains on a clear day. The Onsen—especially the open-air bath—was wonderful, built with rocks so massive you can’t help but wonder how they even brought them in. It really felt like what you’d expect from a long-established Ryokan. The issue was the meals. The Reviews were good, but I don’t drink alcohol at all, so I was taken aback when the course began with a long lineup of dishes clearly meant to go with alcohol. There was strong pressure to order drinks; it may be great for those who drink, but for non-drinkers it felt like an unbalanced menu. Many dishes were delicately seasoned, but there was simply too much food for women. Nagano has an image of being male-oriented, and I felt that kind of tone throughout the menu. Also, we really appreciated the thoughtful gesture after dinner, but my companion doesn’t like carbonated drinks, so I wish they had checked preferences before serving. I’m deducting one star because it was disappointing that they seemed unaware some guests don’t drink. Other than that, it was a very nice Accommodation.

    No mistakes.

    This is a repeat visit. After reading my previous review where I mentioned "the food was particularly excellent," I decided to trust myself and visit again. It was absolutely amazing once more. The quality of the food is outstanding, and the portions are generous. Both dinner and breakfast were exceptional without a doubt. The General Manager's greeting and farewell upon departure showcased remarkable hospitality. Notably, even during the busy New Year period, the price difference compared to weekdays was minimal, which we greatly appreciated. For us as a working couple, this is an important factor when choosing accommodation. The dining rooms were thoughtfully separated for families with children and couples only, allowing us to enjoy our meals in peace—it truly felt like "a tranquil retreat for two." We will definitely return again. Thank you very much!

    Perfect for using the ropeway.

    After staying at the accommodation, we mentioned taking the Komagatake Ropeway, and they kindly informed us that parking at the bus terminal is paid. Instead, they provided a complimentary ride to the terminal by microbus. Excellent service! On our return, we conveniently got off at the bus stop right in front of the hotel. The room had a stunning view of the Southern Alps directly in front—perfect for mountain lovers!

    I had a wonderful end-of-year experience.

    I stayed for one night based solely on reviews, without knowing that the Komagatake Ropeway station was near the Hotel. The result was complete satisfaction in every aspect. The hospitality and meals were especially outstanding. The onsen water was excellent, allowing me to relax fully. Even my detailed meal requests were gladly accommodated, and the next day, I parked my car at the Hotel and received shuttle service to the ropeway station. Every detail of their service was impeccable, allowing me to enjoy a wonderful year-end experience. Thank you very much!

    It was a great accommodation.

    This was my first time staying here. I have traveled to Komagane several times, but I decided to stay at a different accommodation this time and chose "Futarishizuka," which I had been curious about. Although it is an older accommodation, it is well-maintained, and the staff were kind and attentive, making it a very pleasant place to stay. I can see why it has such high ratings. The onsen and meals were both absolutely satisfying. My family and I are already talking about staying here again next year!

    Accommodation with clear air and a wonderful atmosphere

    I stayed at an accommodation with my 100-year-old mother to see the autumn leaves. The location was at the foot of Mount Komagatake, and since it was difficult for my mother to go to the bath, we requested a room with an open-air bath! The room had two sections: a bedroom and a Japanese-style room. I expected a bit more from the food, but I guess it was okay. Since it was in a separate building, it was very quiet and comfortable to stay in. The front desk staff were kind and gave us recommendations for sightseeing on our way back as well as information about the autumn leaves. I’d like to visit again during next year’s autumn season!

    The cuisine is exceptional.

    We stayed with a Plan including breakfast and dinner for three women. The variety and deliciousness of the dinner dishes made for a very happy time. The manager and all the staff were kind, and we are very grateful. Breakfast was also highly satisfying. However, one downside was that the Room was hot, even with the air conditioning off, making it difficult to sleep.

    Unexpectedly satisfying!

    Although it may seem like an unusual title, this was our first stay away from our usual accommodation, and we were truly impressed by how refined this accommodation was. We are extremely satisfied. The highlight was the cuisine. The menu was thoughtfully crafted to make the most of the ingredients without being overly voluminous, offering a delightful dining experience. One area for improvement would be to provide towels in the washroom instead of paper towels. Since we used towels while soaking in the bath and they got wet, it was slightly inconvenient when washing our faces. Even so, we now have another wonderful accommodation that we would love to visit again!

    Service is nearly perfect!

    I used the Plan that allows staying with a dog in the same room. The location was excellent, right next to the Komagane Bus Terminal. While the meals and Onsen were nothing extraordinary, they were satisfactory for this price range. Above all, the courteous service during check-in and check-out was so pleasant that it made me want to visit again.

    Disappointing?

    It was an accommodation I had wanted to stay at for a long time. Unfortunately, it did not meet my expectations. The meals had a variety of dishes, but the quality was not good. As for the bath, it was my first experience where there was no shaving cream in the large public bath. Additionally, the only drink available after bathing was water outside the changing room. There were also many group guests, and overall, it fell short of expectations in various aspects.

    We stayed here during our trip to Narai-juku and Lake Suwa. There are very few pet-friendly accommodations in this area, so it was a great help. Usually, pet-friendly accommodations tend to fall short of the images shown on websites or travel sites in terms of rooms and meals, but this ryokan exceeded expectations with its high-quality rooms, cuisine, and onsen. The staff provided thoughtful hospitality unique to a ryokan, and the rooms and onsen were impeccably clean and comfortable. This accommodation is highly recommended for both general guests and those traveling with pets.

    There are many stink bugs in the room.

    Reserved a corner room on the Senjojiki Cirque and Otakigawa River side of an accommodation with sauna and lounge, a Japanese-Western style room, revisiting after 20 years for family memories. However, there were stink bugs in the room. After removing several myself, more appeared, so I requested the ryokan to handle it. Even after dinner, stink bugs were found in the futon-laid room again. When I re-requested removal, the male staff member reluctantly caught only those pointed out without actively searching or showing any apology. After removing about 20 stink bugs, we ended up moving to an adjacent two-room accommodation for our stay. We had to carry our luggage ourselves and were told to check for stink bugs in the new room on our own as well. The attitude that "stink bugs are inevitable" and lack of apology was shocking. They emphasized that these entered when windows were opened during cleaning; while one was indeed spotted in the next room too, having 20 appear in one single room seemed unacceptable. Unable to enjoy the sauna or cypress bath in-room or even its view made this trip deeply disappointing. Despite staying in a different room than reserved due to this issue, no refund for price differences was offered either; staff responses left much to be desired overall. It felt like staying near Lake Suwa instead—even if requiring early travel—would have been better than choosing this place altogether!

    Courteous service

    The staff provided courteous and pleasant service from arrival to check-out. Both breakfast and dinner offered a wide variety of dishes, allowing us to enjoy specialties from Nagano Prefecture. The Room was spacious, and the alkaline Onsen had a soothing quality. The open-air bath also had a great atmosphere, providing a relaxing experience.

    I had a comfortable stay.

    We stayed as a couple after visiting Mount Kisokoma. The room and onsen were clean and well-maintained, allowing us to have a comfortable stay. The meals for breakfast and dinner were very delicious. Among them, the vacuum-cooked meat and salt-grilled sweetfish remain unforgettable. Upon departure, we were introduced to nearby tourist spots, which made our trip even more enjoyable. Thank you very much. The downside was that the water facilities in the room were inconvenient to use, and there was a delay in meal service due to being forgotten midway, which is why we deducted points.

    The service at this ...

    The service at this accommodation was wonderful. On the morning of our stay, we received a call and were upgraded to a better room. Not only that, but tea was served in the room, and during dinner, the manager personally greeted each group, which left a lasting impression. The accommodation is conveniently located near the Senjojiki Cirque parking lot, and the view of Otakigawa River from the window was beautiful. Our trip was centered around enjoying kaiseki cuisine, but we were extremely satisfied with the heartfelt hospitality. Thank you very much!

    We received such wonderful hospitality!

    The Hotel staff provided exceptional hospitality with warm smiles. I was amazed at how clean and well-maintained the pet-friendly Hotel was. It exceeded my expectations for the price! The amenities for dogs were well-prepared, and the spacious cage was very comfortable. There was also a dog run where my dog could play freely. At the end, a staff member kindly offered to take a family photo for us. The fresh air outside and delicious meals added to our wonderful experience. I would love to visit again with my beloved dog.     Onsen Trip

    It was a pleasant Ryokan. As soon as I parked my car, a lady appeared and helped carry my luggage. From the room, I could see the Southern Alps across the river, making it a very calming place. The meals were delicious, but they were too much for me; it would be nice if there was an option for a smaller meal plan. While I was out for dinner, they replaced the water with chilled water, changed to new teacups, polished my shoes, and even left a handwritten note. I think this is a Ryokan with thoughtful attention from a woman's perspective. I would love to stay at this accommodation again!

    Stayed with my dog

    The staff greeted us at the entrance, which gave a polite and welcoming impression of the accommodation. The pet-friendly room is located in a separate building, but it was clean and prepared with tea and snacks. At first, our pet was scared of the tatami-style flooring as it was slippery, but they managed to walk on it after settling down. A less slippery floor would have been better. There is a riverside walking path along the Tenryu River nearby, which we enjoyed. The onsen features an open-air bath with views of the river; however, I found the water quality to be average. Although small, there is also access to a sauna in the afternoon. Meals are served in a dining hall with various dishes that were not overly seasoned and offered generous portions. However, there wasn’t any standout dish that left an impression. Wooden clogs are provided for moving between buildings, but they were quite slippery and difficult to walk in—this was disappointing. Overall, I found this accommodation to be kind and hospitable.

    Glad I went.

    We stayed with our dog and had a wonderful experience. The location is excellent, offering a luxurious time walking along trails and suspension bridges surrounded by lush rivers and greenery while enjoying views of the Central Alps. The facility is clean and elegant, featuring touches like ikebana arrangements, and the delicious meals were satisfying with generous portions. For guests with dogs, accommodations are in a separate building with fewer rooms, providing peace of mind. Dog amenities were fully equipped, making it very comfortable for us. The staff was friendly to our dog, talking to him and petting him; they even took a commemorative photo at checkout. Our Shiba Inu was very happy as well! We have visited many accommodations with our dog, but this is one we would love to return to again.

    I would like to stay here again.

    It was a wonderful accommodation! The staff's attentive hospitality and the delicious, beautifully presented meals (there were so many dishes that it might be better to reduce the number slightly) were outstanding. The view of Senjojiki Cirque from the window was also stunning. However, the comforter was quite thick, and I ended up sweating a lot, so it would have been nice to have a summer blanket instead. The location is near Suganodai Bus Center and within walking distance, but with the shuttle service provided, we could head smoothly to Senjojiki Cirque in the morning. On our return, there is a bus stop right in front of the hotel, making access excellent! Everything was perfect, and I would love to stay here again. Thank you very much!

    Had a great stay.

    We stayed for the first time with two pets at this detached accommodation. The room was spacious and allowed us to relax comfortably. There was no noticeable pet odor in the room, but there was a slight unpleasant smell at the building's entrance. The meals, especially the grilled salted ayu fish, were excellent. The staff's warm smiles were very comforting, and we were extremely satisfied. We will definitely stay again!

    It's a very minor detail, but...

    The staff, service, and cuisine are excellent. However, there are a few minor issues: the air conditioning is weak, there are many insects in the outdoor Onsen during summer (with insect spray cans visible during bathing), the safe is difficult to lock without lifting its lid, the footwear tags for the Onsen are not organized, and the locker keys in the Onsen cannot be worn on your wrist (requiring you to hold them while entering). A bit more attention to these details would enhance the experience. The location's knowledge and service regarding Senjojiki Cirque are outstanding, and I would love to stay here again if given another opportunity.
