    長野涼しい!

    We were very satisfied.

We stayed at Nininshizuka for two nights and fully enjoyed sightseeing nearby—Suwa Shrine (Akimiya and Harumiya) on day 1, Senjojiki Cirque on day 2, and Lake Suwa on day 3—so we were extremely satisfied! I don’t usually post a Review, but it was so wonderful that I had to share. Overall, our satisfaction level was very high. [Highlights] 1) Staff: Everyone was genuinely pleasant and full of hospitality. 2) Onsen: Spacious and spotless. We received two bath towels each day, so even after bathing twice we could use a fresh towel. The women’s amenities were well stocked, so there was no need to bring our own. 3) Meals: Partitions were set up between tables, which ensured privacy. The food was incredibly delicious—an artistic kaiseki course—and not only dinner but breakfast also had many dishes. If you eat a big lunch, dinner might feel like too much. 4) Location: Very convenient for visiting Senjojiki Cirque. Suganodai Bus Center is just a few minutes away on foot, and in the morning they will drive you there for hiking. The riverside promenade is also lovely. Around the bus center there’s Komagane Farms as well, with various shops that are fun to browse. Senjojiki Cirque is of course quite cold, but the Accommodation itself was also pleasantly cool. 5) Additional note: There is an interesting “Pinkoro Shrine” (where people pray to stay healthy until the end of life) on the grounds—it made me wonder if it used to be a wedding chapel that was renovated into this space. At my age I truly relate to wishing for exactly that in later life.

    Wonderful Accommodation (Ideal for Families)

We stayed with an infant and a young child, and had a very comfortable stay. The Room was spacious and comfortable, and every staff member was extremely kind and hospitable, so we felt at ease throughout our stay. The meals were well prepared and thoughtfully presented. Since we have children, we are careful about ingredients and additives, but we were able to enjoy everything with peace of mind right through to the final dessert. It was also convenient that the bus stop for the Komagatake Ropeway Station is right in front of the Accommodation. For families with small children, this Accommodation has it all—the spacious Room, the warm support from the staff, reassuring meals, and a convenient location—making it very easy to stay here. We would definitely like to return.

    We had a great time.

I had a wonderful impression from my previous stay, with fresh flowers beautifully arranged throughout the Accommodation, so I chose a Multiple Night Stay again this time. In addition to the flowers, I truly appreciated that breakfast could be prepared as a boxed meal for my hike up Mt. Kisokoma, and that it was made ready from early morning. The meals were also elaborate and delicious, and I was very satisfied overall. However, one concern was that while the Ikka Ichiyou Room is modern and lovely, the layout around the clawfoot bathtub is inconvenient, there is no towel rack, and the washbasin is small and not very practical to use. I would also like an outlet near the bed pillow area. As soon as you step outside the Accommodation, you can see Senjojiki Cirque, and the location is excellent for walking to Suganodai Bus Center and enjoying nearby strolls. The staff were also very kind, making this a place I would like to stay at again.

    I chose this Accommo...

I chose this Accommodation because of its name and high Review ratings, but it felt like a typical long-established Ryokan. The meals were especially good for both dinner and breakfast, with generous portions, and I was satisfied. The Room was small, the TV was small, and BS channels were not available. In particular, the air conditioning was a whole-building system without individual temperature control. The cooling was strong, and if it felt cold the only option was to turn it off, which was inconvenient. The Onsen had a slight chlorine smell, but I felt the water quality was good. However, even though it was midsummer, the indoor bath temperature was too hot, so I spent my time only in the open-air bath. Just when I thought it was a bit disappointing Ryokan overall, I realized partway through that there is an annex. It wasn’t clear from the website, which is unfortunate.

    It was amazing!

Every staff member was smiling at all times and full of hospitality. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, and it’s rare to find an Accommodation of this quality at this price.\n\nThey prepared an English menu for a foreign family, everyone kindly spoke to our pet, and they even stored our frozen food for us—we truly appreciated it.\n\nIf we have the chance to visit Nagano again, we would love to stay with you again!

I was able to relax and unwind.

Thank you for taking care of us during our Multiple Night Stay. The meals were beautifully presented, and we were served delicious, carefully prepared dishes. On the second day, although the menu was different, the sashimi—large Shinshu salmon and scallop carpaccio—was excellent, and the abalone, shrimp, and steamed beef wrapped in bamboo leaves were also delicious. The staff provided courteous explanations of each dish, allowing us to enjoy a wonderful time. From the dining area we could see the Otagiri River and the Southern Alps; not only was the food outstanding, but we also enjoyed the scenery. The Onsen baths—both indoor and open-air—were spacious, so we could relax and soak at leisure. The bus to Komagatake Ropeway passes right in front of this Accommodation, making round trips to Senjojiki very convenient. With great meals, an excellent Onsen, and wonderful staff service, we would love to stay again. Thank you very much.

    A warm and welcoming accommodation.

On my previous visit to Senjojiki Cirque, it was so foggy that I couldn’t see anything. This time, in hopes of making up for it, you even prepared a boxed meal for our early-morning departure, and thanks to your many thoughtful touches we had a truly enjoyable and fulfilling stay. Every staff member greeted us with a warm smile and a polite bow with a kind word—this is an Accommodation that makes you feel at home. I’d love to visit again when I have the chance.

An ideal Onsen Accommodation for visiting the Senjojiki Cirque

I chose this Accommodation to visit the Senjojiki Cirque, and their kind advice on everything from crowd levels to the weather was extremely helpful. Located by the Otakiri River, the soothing sound of the clear stream was a pleasure. The food was delicious, and the staff were very pleasant. The next day, I heard that many people line up early for the bus to Shirabidaira, so I checked out at 5:00 a.m. Although I couldn’t have breakfast, I really appreciated that they prepared a boxed lunch instead. Both the Onsen and the meals were excellent, and overall I was able to enjoy a very satisfying stay.

A Great Accommodation, Just as Reviewed

This time, we stayed with our family dog. It was a wonderful Accommodation, just as the Reviews said. All of the staff kindly answered our questions (such as about nearby sightseeing), and they were also very considerate of our dog. When we checked out, they took many photos of our dog and family for us. The meals were beautifully presented and really lifted our spirits. As mentioned in some Reviews, the appetizers were on the stronger side in flavor; those who don’t drink alcohol might find them a bit salty, but for us as drinkers, they were just right. However, regarding the Facility aspects—though it may be unavoidable—the toilet in the Room was very small. My husband is over 180 cm and said it felt cramped and that his legs bumped into the door. Also, as someone else noted in a Review, since Hanagokoro-an is a little far from the large public bath, getting there can be somewhat inconvenient. There is no elevator either, so if your Room is on the second floor, it may be difficult for guests with limited mobility. Even so, overall we were very satisfied. We would like to visit again in a different season.

    It was very good.

My spouse and I stayed with our two dogs. Because we were in a separate annex dedicated to guests with dogs, we could come and go for walks without worrying about bothering anyone. Meals and bathing were in the main building, but there was a large crate in the Room, which made it easy to leave them there when needed (it was even bigger and nicer than ours at home). The meals had many dishes, and everything was delicious. The Onsen was very relaxing. At check-in, a staff member asked our dogs’ names and we told them verbally. Even though we didn’t see that staff member again until check-out, they remembered their names and treated them kindly, which made us very happy. Thank you very much. We would definitely like to stay again.

Nagoya’s Karuizawa! Soothe your mind and body in the nature of Komagane.

We usually visit Karuizawa this time of year, but this time we stayed in Komagane for the first time. This Hotel’s main appeal is that you can stay with your dog, so since we don’t have one, we were worried about odors and barking, but we felt at ease knowing the buildings are separate. The service, Room, and meals were all better than expected; considering the price, everything deserves five stars. What I especially liked was that the open-air bath had a cold spring bath. I’m not good with hot water, so it was very comfortable to bathe. We would like to stay again during the autumn foliage season.

    I was satisfied.

It was hard to find the towel rack and tissues in the Room, so I ended up searching for them. Since these are items you will definitely use, it would have been better if they were placed where they are easy to spot. The meals were vegetable-focused and just right for older guests. I would like to visit again if I have the opportunity.

Annex “Ikka Ichiyō” – Special Japanese-Style Room with Open-Air Bath

I made a Reservation and stayed in a Special Room with an open-air bath. On both the official website and IKYU, the Room photos and layout diagram were the same. The floor plan showed two Japanese-style rooms, with one set up with beds, so I thought my elderly mother could stay comfortably. However, the Room we were shown did not have any beds. When I told the attendant that it was different from what I had reserved, I was told: “There are six Special Rooms, and the ones with beds are already booked.” There was no indication that there are six rooms with different layouts and amenities, and I made this Reservation assuming there would be beds. When I said so, they replied that they would check with the front desk—but we never received an answer by checkout and were simply left without any follow-up. I was astonished. I gave up on changing Rooms since we had already checked in and paid in advance, but what upset me most was that not a single person properly responded to my inquiry. It made me very sad. I hope this is helpful for anyone considering reserving a Special Room with an open-air bath at this Accommodation.

    Room Type

I would like you to ask guests about their preferred Room type. Because my legs are not in good condition, a Japanese-style Room with two adjoining rooms was difficult for me. Since you also seem to have Japanese-Western style Rooms, I think you should ask guests about their preferences. Having to sleep or sit while in pain makes me wonder why I stayed at an Onsen Accommodation at all. Please consider this.

    The Last Accommodation

Our anniversaries coincided, and we were looking for an Accommodation where our dog could stay with us, so we chose this one. It’s surrounded by nature, and our dog had a great time running freely in the dog run. Both dinner and breakfast were incredibly delicious, and we were surprised by how many dishes there were! Fresh flowers were displayed throughout the property, which made it feel like a special escape from everyday life. We truly appreciated the wonderful hospitality from the proprietress and all the staff. We’ll work hard as a family so we can make this our regular place to stay. We’d love to come again with our dog. Thank you very much for taking such good care of us.

    A great accommodation.

Set along the river with beautiful views, the property is decorated with a variety of fresh flowers throughout, creating a relaxing atmosphere. The meals are also very good for the price.

I’d love to stay here again.

The calm atmosphere was wonderful. All the staff were very kind, and the food was delicious. The bath was truly relaxing—I enjoyed it so much that I went in twice at night and twice in the morning, four times in total. I hope to visit again on a sunny day. Thank you very much.

    It was a dog-friendly accommodation.

All staff were kind and treated our dog gently. We were satisfied with everything—the meals, the Room, and the Onsen. Since we stayed in the annex with our dog, it couldn’t be helped, but because both the meals and the Onsen were in the main building, it was a bit far and inconvenient. I wanted to use the Onsen one more time but gave up. There were many ikebana flower arrangements throughout the building, which was soothing. If I had to mention a drawback, the toilet space in the Room felt like a design mistake and was a little awkward to use. Overall, it was a very comfortable Accommodation.

A Relaxing Trip with Your Dog, Surrounded by Onsen and Greenery

I’ve been to Komagane several times, but this time I was looking for an Accommodation where I could stay with my dog, and we were grateful for your hospitality. A truly dog-friendly Accommodation. Because it’s in a separate building from other guests, we were able to relax and enjoy our stay without worrying about others. All the staff were very kind to our dog as well. I couldn’t finish dinner and feel sorry for leaving some, but it was delicious. There are walking routes around the Accommodation, so we enjoyed a pleasant stroll. You also told us about places that welcome dogs, and we enjoyed delicious soba on a terrace. We’ll visit again with my sons’ families.

An Accommodation you’ll want to return to again and again, Futari Shizuka

On May 5, I stayed at Yamanosou no Yado Futarishizuka for the first time. This Accommodation sits on a hill in Komagane Kogen, beside the clear flow of the Otagiri River. The mountain stream fed by snowmelt from Mt. Hokendake in the Central Alps was astonishingly transparent, and being surrounded by lush forest and crisp air felt truly cleansing. At night, the star-filled sky was breathtaking. The riverside walking path is also very well maintained—perfect for walks with our dog. Taking a leisurely stroll through nature felt like a real luxury. All staff were kind and welcoming, and they treated our dog gently as well, so we could relax and feel at ease throughout our stay. The service was attentive and comfortable from start to finish. Each dish was delicately prepared with refined flavors—beautiful to look at and wonderful to taste, leaving a lasting impression. The Onsen is Hayataro Onsen, sourced from the foothills of the Central Alps. The gentle alkaline water left my skin feeling soft and moisturized. Spending time in the open-air bath surrounded by alpine plants while enjoying the seasonal scenery was pure bliss. This is an Accommodation I truly want to return to—and one I will always treasure.

    Pleasant and attentive service

All staff were kind, and we had a very pleasant stay. It was great overall. Since we were traveling with our dog, we had to go outside and walk some distance from the accommodation building to the onsen and dining area, which was a bit inconvenient because it was raining. The onsen water felt slightly silky and seemed good for the skin.

A nature-rich location perfect for scenic walks and delicious meals

We stayed for two nights with our dog. The Accommodation is surrounded by nature, and the area was quiet and relaxing. It was easy to take our dog for walks, and we enjoyed a leisurely time. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious, with just the right portions, so we were very satisfied. The Onsen was wonderful, and we especially enjoyed the open-air bath where we could truly unwind. The staff were friendly and approachable, which made our stay very comfortable. On the other hand, perhaps because it was a dog-friendly Room, we found the view from the window a bit disappointing. Also, since the baths and dining area are in the main building, getting there on rainy days was a little inconvenient. In addition, during times when group guests were using the baths, there were moments when their bath etiquette was somewhat concerning. Overall, it’s an Accommodation with a high level of satisfaction, and we would like to stay again if we have another opportunity.

The river’s crystal-clear water and lively flow are truly stunning.

I took a walk along the promenade. In the crystal-clear air on the way to the Accommodation, I soaked in a wonderful Onsen and felt completely refreshed in both body and mind. My allergies stopped completely, and my condition changed so quickly—it was a truly mysterious Accommodation.

Staying here is worthwhile even just for the meals.

Pet-friendly stays are in a separate building, but it seems to have been recently renovated and was very comfortable. The meals were served one dish at a time; while no extravagant ingredients were used, they were carefully prepared and had an elegant presentation and flavor. The service was courteous, making for a very pleasant stay. We will definitely return.
