    Simply the best.

    This Hotel is perfect in every way—from the Room size and hospitality to all services and cleanliness. It was the best Hotel I have ever stayed at. I felt the price could easily be twice as high. Above all, it was calm and relaxing, with only Japanese adults staying there, which helped me truly unwind. I would love to visit again.

    I stayed here for the first time in four years.

    I visited with my elderly mother on a trip to show my appreciation. She said that, among all the Hotels she has stayed at, Kyushu Hotel was the best, so we made a Reservation this time. Our last stay was four years ago, so I understand some aging is inevitable, but what disappointed me was the mold in the Room’s semi-open-air bath. When I first entered, I noticed a slight musty smell, and once I actually used it, I found mold in various places on the walls. It was very disappointing. If it were due to Onsen minerals, I could understand, but this is mold that should be removable with proper cleaning—I felt like cleaning it myself. I wondered if it might be due to staff shortages, but that makes it even more disappointing because it is otherwise such a wonderful Hotel. There was also debris on the Room carpet; my only complaint is the cleaning. The complimentary guest cafe and night bar, plus offerings like braised pork buns and somen noodles and post-bath ice cream all add a special touch—there’s no doubt it’s a lovely Hotel. Breakfast was delicious as well.

    It was amazing!

    Everything was excellent from check-in to check-out. There were two lounges, and we enjoyed both. Dinner and breakfast were both delicious. We would definitely like to stay again in a different season and try a different Room type. I rated the guest Room 4 stars because I would have liked a hand towel for wiping the washbasin, and I would have been happy if there were two bath mats.

    My wife's favorite

    We stayed at Unzen Kyushu Hotel again on this trip—our third stay. Among the many Hotels, this Accommodation is my wife’s absolute favorite. The views, the Onsen, the food, and the people—everything is outstanding! Above all, you can truly enjoy an extraordinary escape during your stay. We’ll work hard so we can come back again next year.     We stayed in the ann...

    We stayed in the annex and have returned many times. The bath is wonderful, and this year a new sauna was added, which made it even more relaxing. The meals are very generous, so next time I’d like to ask for a slightly smaller portion (I feel bad leaving food).　　　　　　 You can also enjoy complimentary sparkling wine and cocktails in the lounge before and after your meal.

    We had a great time.

    All staff were wonderful, and we thoroughly enjoyed the delicious meals. On the other hand, the Facility seems to be showing some signs of aging; if improvements are made, I believe it will become an even better Hotel, and I look forward to seeing that happen.

    Wonderful Hotel

    This is a truly wonderful Hotel. All the staff were very pleasant, and I had a comfortable stay from start to finish. I was a little worried because there is no large public bath, but the moment I saw the bath in my Room, all my concerns disappeared. I enjoyed the bath so much that I couldn’t get enough of it. The food was also excellent. I could see the steam rising from Unzen Jigoku from everywhere, and it made for an amazing time. Everything was kept very clean. Thank you to all the staff for such a lovely stay.

    A little more.

    We stayed during Golden Week. Three of us stayed in a detached room called B1 for just under JPY 250,000. The living area was smaller than expected. Although the stated capacity is four, it feels basically designed for two. The sofa, which has no fixed backrest, is tiring to sit on. The lighting in the toilet and entrance was dim and inconvenient. There is no full-length mirror. The hot spring water quality is excellent. Please be careful with the sliding door frames at the entrances to the indoor bath and semi-open-air bath, as they are designed in a way that can pinch your fingers. Dinner was a Japanese-Western fusion course. I felt the ingredients and sauces could have been chosen more carefully. In particular, I thought the sirloin steak would suit Japanese tastes better with wasabi or yuzu kosho rather than mustard. Breakfast was either bland or overly salty, so it wasn’t to my taste. This may be a somewhat harsh Review, but it reflects my impressions given this Accommodation’s high price range.

    A Hotel with Spectacular Views in Unzen Jigoku

    It was an outstanding Hotel where we could fully enjoy the breathtaking views of Unzen Jigoku. Usually, stopping by a convenience store on the way to a Hotel to buy snacks and drinks feels like a hassle. However, Kyushu Hotel has lounges on the 2nd and 6th floors, and with all-inclusive service, it truly felt like pure happiness. My husband enjoyed a beer before dinner. Even though I have an alcohol allergy, they had 100% apple and mandarin orange juice, which made me very satisfied. There were also vending machines in the Accommodation building, so we were able to spend our time comfortably. We stayed on the 5th floor. All Rooms are spacious at around 70 square meters, with a thoughtfully designed layout for comfort. When you enter the Room, you take off your shoes, and right next to that is a walk-in closet with shelving where you can open and place your suitcase—perfect for changing clothes there as well. There is also a full wall mirror; I have never seen such a closet in any other Hotel. It is truly luxurious space, and I really appreciated it. Beyond the Japanese-style area and beds, there was an L-shaped sofa with just the right firmness. From there you can overlook Unzen Jigoku—it made me want to take a deep breath—and it was such a relaxing space. How luxurious! Next to this area there is terrace seating where you can enjoy both the pleasant breeze and panoramic views of Unzen Jigoku. My husband seemed especially happy because he could smoke there. The bathroom area was separated well; even the toilet was in its own private room, so it doesn’t disturb others even when someone is bathing. I was impressed by how considerate the designer must have been. What an incredible Hotel they built—truly amazing. It’s a Hotel I want to visit again and again. For meals, you can choose Japanese or Western cuisine. I prefer Japanese food but don’t like rice with raw egg (tamago kake gohan). They kindly prepared sea bream sashimi instead of raw egg, and I enjoyed it as tai chazuke—it was delicious. The other dishes were also tasty; however, there weren’t many warm items overall, so I felt chilled. I would have liked more dishes served hot. The gentleman assisting guests at the 2nd-floor lounge was very kind—he even taught us how to play some games—so we had a great time. Thank you very much.

    Simply the best!

    This was my second stay. There were many guests in the dining area, so I could tell the Accommodation was busy, but otherwise it never felt crowded. The entire property was very quiet and relaxing, and I was able to spend a comfortable time in the lounge as well. The in-room Onsen was at a perfect temperature, and the water quality was excellent. Since the rooftop lounge is only available until the end of March, I made use of it many times and will miss it. I definitely want to stay again.

    The best Hotel for a relaxing stay in Unzen

    The atmosphere is wonderful, and the Hotel’s overall service is excellent. In the evening, complimentary alcoholic drinks and cocktails are served in the lounge, so you can truly relax. The food is also delicious. I think it’s a Hotel worth visiting at least once in a lifetime. I’m glad I went.

    Onsen is the best!

    Soaked in the hot spring multiple times... The water quality was excellent! The meals were absolutely delicious. It was great to have the option to choose between Japanese or Western-style breakfast. I enjoyed a relaxing time in the lounge, playing games and reading. I had a wonderful holiday.

    A highly satisfying New Year's holiday.

    I made a reservation in December, possibly due to a cancellation, and had an extremely satisfying stay for one night on New Year's Eve. The New Year's Eve dinner included traditional soba noodles, while New Year's Day featured exquisite Osechi cuisine at a fine dining level, along with local Zoni soup—everything was perfect. The Onsen in the room offered authentic spring quality, and the rooftop free drink lounge was exceptional. Truly deserving of its reputation as one of the best accommodations in Kyushu.

    Thank you for taking care of my parents!

    I planned a trip to Nagasaki and Saga with my parents using mileage points, and since I wanted to play at the Unzen Golf Course, I arranged for my parents to stay at this accommodation. (My wife and I stayed at Ooedo Onsen.) As my father has spinal canal stenosis and cannot walk long distances, I accompanied him to the room during check-in. Although the walking distance from the entrance check-in area to the accommodation building was quite far, and there were some inconveniences such as having the restaurant located on the 2nd floor between the entrance and accommodation building or needing to switch elevators on the 2nd floor of the accommodation building (likely for security reasons), they didn’t find it bothersome as they could enjoy views of the courtyard along the way. However, they did mention some confusion when switching elevators on the 2nd floor. We also visited the rooftop lounge where we enjoyed a view of Unzen Jigoku from above. At night, it seems you can help yourself to beer and sparkling wine there—something that made me quite envious! The next day, when picking up my parents after finishing golf, although rooftop lounges are usually closed after checkout hours, staff kindly allowed them to wait in this space even after checking out. The staff were incredibly kind throughout our stay. The meals were delicious according to my parents, so next time I’d love to stay here myself!

    The scenery, Onsen, and meals are all excellent.

    Hell Valley is right in front of you. The view from the 5th-floor room is breathtaking and spectacular. The meals, both dinner and breakfast, were delicious. The onsen has a milky white color and is maintained at just the right temperature. I would love to stay here again when visiting Unzen.

    It was relaxing.

    It was my first time in Unzen. The accommodation faced Unzen Jigoku, and the view from the room was spectacular. The room was clean, spacious enough, and the bath offered almost pure hot spring water, which was excellent. I also appreciated having bathrobes and indoor wear provided. I enjoyed free drinks at the lounge exclusively for guests and at the café as well! Both breakfast and dinner were delicious. I would love to stay here again.

    Glad I could go!

    In April, I made a reservation but had to cancel it a week before the stay due to contracting shingles. Although I wasn't feeling well and didn't feel like traveling, I decided to visit Kyushu Hotel this time and was finally able to go. From the restaurant and room, I could enjoy views of Unzen Jigoku, and the meals were delicate and delicious. The lounge offered excellent cocktails, making it an amazing experience. The room's bath constantly flowed with onsen water at a perfect temperature, providing comfort anytime. Truly an exceptional location and hospitality hotel!

    Onsen and Scenic Views

    Stayed in a room with a view of Unzen Jigoku, and the scenery was truly exceptional. The Onsen is available 24 hours, which is a delightful feature. Even while moving around the hotel, you can sense the unique sulfur smell of the Onsen and feel warm spots here and there (due to geothermal effects), giving you a real sense of being in an Onsen area. Additionally, thank you to all the staff for their very kind hospitality.

    A wonderful Hotel nestled amidst breathtaking autumn foliage.

    We stayed here on the first day of our Nagasaki trip while visiting Unzen. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed at the entrance. The retro-style front desk and the unexpectedly spacious interior impressed us. From our room on the 5th floor, we had a close-up view of Unzen Jigoku. Although there was no large public bath, the large granite bathtub with its sulfur aroma provided an authentic Onsen experience. The male staff member who served us dinner offered detailed explanations about each dish and provided exceptional hospitality. We were amazed by the variety of dishes, which would surely satisfy even those with a hearty appetite. With complimentary alcohol in hand, we enjoyed relaxing in the lounge and admired breathtaking autumn views from the open terrace on the top floor—a truly sophisticated space for adults. The other guests were respectful, making for a stress-free stay. This was our first visit to Unzen, but we hope to return again just to stay at this Hotel. Thank you for providing such a wonderful experience!

    Villa and Terrace Twin

    We stayed for a Multiple Night Stay, spending one night in Villa A and another in the Premium Twin Room (top floor). Both rooms were wonderful. The dinner at the villa was exceptionally satisfying. Breakfast and the service provided by the hotel staff were also outstanding. Despite changing rooms, they facilitated a quick check-in for our second night, making our stay seamless and highly enjoyable. Thank you for the birthday surprise, excellent location, and creating unforgettable memories in Unzen!

    Direct access to Unzen Jigoku! Stunning views await!

    Connected directly to Unzen Jigoku, we enjoyed the scenery while taking a stroll. The Western-style menu for meals was excellent. Although there was no open-air public bath, the room had a private onsen with natural hot spring water, allowing us to enjoy the experience. When we forgot something, they kindly called us later and sent it via courier service. Truly, Japanese ryokan at its best!

    Retirement Celebration Trip

    This was my second Multiple Night Stay. I had some concerns after reading Reviews about a decline in quality and quantity due to a management change through M&A, but there was no need to worry. The meals seem to have been improved based on customer feedback, and while the staff may not yet be at their previous level, their efforts were evident and appreciated. The retirement celebration plate provided met my expectations, leaving me very satisfied. I look forward to seeing further growth and would love to stay here again when visiting Unzen. Thank you very much!

    I had been interested in this Hotel for a while, so I used my miles to book a flight to Nagasaki and made a reservation using the early bird discount. Since my expectations were high, there were several points that caught my attention, so I would like to share my comments. 1. The check-in process and room guidance felt rushed, as if there weren't enough staff. It didn't feel customer-oriented. When asked if I needed an explanation about the room and mentioned some concerns, the response was "Then I'll explain." This made me feel as though asking was inconvenient for them. 2. Regarding room amenities, it was disappointing that items like lotion and emulsion were only provided for women. It would be better if they were available for all guests regardless of gender or number of people staying in the room. 3. The bathroom in the room was pleasant; however, it was slightly disappointing that the window couldn't be opened. A design allowing fresh air from outside would have been even better. 4. For dinner, although we initially weren't seated by the window, we were later offered a window-side table when one became available—a thoughtful gesture that made us happy! The portion size of dinner was just right overall; while no particular dish stood out as memorable flavor-wise everything tasted good overall! However regarding wine pairing—it arrived pre-poured into glasses already instead being poured properly at our table which could enhance experience further given pairing concept itself! 5.At breakfast hash beef seemed unusual choice without explanation why served?     It was a great accommodation.

    We arrived a little later than planned, but we were warmly welcomed with a smile. The explanation of the room was clear and thorough. The bath, meals, and the view from the room were all very satisfying. This is an accommodation we would love to visit again.

    Unfortunately.

    I have visited various hotels in Unzen, but for guests from Tokyo, I always chose to take them to Unzen Kyushu Hotel. Although I had been a frequent guest and waited for the right time to bring them, it was very disappointing as the management and head chef seemed to have changed. The cuisine, which we were especially looking forward to, was more disappointing than anywhere else.

    Family Trip

    We stayed in one special Room and two Rooms on the 5th floor for our annual family trip. The view from the 5th floor was amazing. The special Room had two Onsens, both indoor and outdoor, allowing us to relax and unwind. However, there were a few disappointments: The upgraded meal was too ordinary and underwhelming. The lounge on the 2nd floor was extremely hot—almost as if the air conditioning was broken. When we asked the staff, they mentioned it was due to geothermal heat. Only this area has geothermal heat? We ended up giving up on enjoying the lounge service we had been looking forward to. Although our expectations were high due to its high Review ratings, which led to lower satisfaction overall, we are grateful for all the staff who assisted us during our stay. Thank you very much!
