To Amanohashidate in Search of Crabs
Every year around this time, I visit various onsen areas to enjoy crab. This time, I went to Amanohashidate for the first time in a while. Over 20 years ago, I stayed at Monjusou, but Shourotei seemed too high-end and I never had the chance to go. As a reward for my hard work every day, I decided to visit. Shortly after checking in, we were greeted with a wonderful tagged live Matsuba crab. Not only the crab dishes but all the food was delicious. Despite being an old-established pure Japanese-style ryokan, it has been updated with customer-friendly modern facilities such as TV, bath, floor heating, air purifier and even details like switch covers. Excellent hospitality, delicious meals and an updated traditional ryokan. Next time I'd love to visit with my daughter as well.

I visit every year.
The food is delicious! The crab fondue is the best. We always stay in the smallest Room, but we are very satisfied with the unlimited use of linens and the perfect balance of hospitality.

Crab Travel
For our annual crab trip, we chose Amanohashidate this time. We planned to go by car, but due to the snow the day before, we suddenly changed to the train. Despite making the reservation the day before, we were able to easily get reserved seats on the train and enjoyed a leisurely journey while watching the snow from the window. After some sightseeing, we checked in at 2 PM and relaxed in the onsen until dinner at 5 PM, enjoying a wonderful room. Dinner was a crab feast from Tsuiyama, with raw, grilled, boiled, and hot pot crab, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Breakfast was also wonderful and very delicious. The unobtrusive service made us feel very comfortable. We definitely want to visit again.
