    The snow has melted, so... (smile)

    I love this Ryokan, and I was eagerly waiting for the snow to melt after visiting during the snowy season and causing some inconvenience. As expected, Tsuruya Ryokan is truly wonderful. It provides a calm and relaxing environment, especially suitable for elderly guests. The dinner was absolutely perfect, featuring local and seasonal ingredients. Everything was delicious! Although my husband and I are not fans of butterbur, we found the butterbur porridge appetizer surprisingly tasty. It's amazing how Tsuruya can make even disliked ingredients enjoyable—surely thanks to the chef's exceptional skills! While Onsen is a highlight of any trip, meals are definitely the main attraction (especially for women!). The food was incredibly delicious. The rolled omelet with dashi broth was particularly outstanding—it was truly unforgettable! This trip brought us so much joy. The soba noodles and all other dishes were absolutely satisfying as well. I look forward to visiting again soon—thank you so much for everything! I'll be back to enjoy your delicious soba noodles and dashi-rolled omelet again!

    Excellent hospitality.

    I stayed for one night with my mother and daughter. The room, meals, and atmosphere were all excellent. We upgraded our meal to a sukiyaki kaiseki, and the meat was tender and incredibly delicious. The bath featured Shima Onsen's unique soft water quality, which was very soothing. We reserved the "Ten" room, which had a private open-air bath that was spacious enough for us to enjoy about four times during our stay. The overall atmosphere of the accommodation was very quiet; even though it seemed fully booked, everyone appeared to be spending time in their rooms as there was no noise at all. I could even help my daughter study in the lounge without any distractions. It was a very relaxing stay throughout, and I would love to visit again!

    I stayed for a Multi...

    I stayed for a Multiple Night Stay. Anticipating cold weather, I reserved a Room with an indoor bath, and it turned out to be during an extreme cold wave. Thanks to the warm Room and bath, I was able to stay comfortable. The meals were delicious, and I thoroughly enjoyed the Shima Onsen at a leisurely pace. Both the express train and local buses were crowded on the way there and back, which was challenging, but I would love to visit again if given the chance.

    It was okay, but we had trouble with the snow.

    The Onsen with the room was nice, but due to heavy snowfall, there were boiler issues, and hot water stopped coming out. Our plans to go out were canceled, so we had a multiple night stay, but the open-air bath with a view of the snow was wonderful.

    It is a wonderful Stays.

    A spacious living room with a dining area, a Japanese-style room with a sunken kotatsu, and a semi-open-air bath with natural Onsen water flow, the cuisine was also impeccable. The tableware was very elaborate, showcasing the chef's exceptional skills. We stayed for two nights but wished we could have stayed longer. My partner was also very satisfied and praised that if we visit Shima Onsen again, we would love to stay at Tsuruya. The Room, cuisine, and Onsen were all at a very reasonable price.

    I visited in December and stayed in the "Ichiban Yoi Ten" room, but the room was not heated. The renovated room had a mix of double-glazed and single-glazed windows, which provided poor insulation, making it cold unless the heating was turned up loudly. The floor in the powder room and toilet was made of artificial stone, with no heating or underfloor heating, making my feet cold every time I entered. The open-air bath attached to the room was also very shallow, and I had to lie down to submerge my shoulders. The corridors were cold and dark, and it was very disappointing to have gone all the way to Shima Onsen. The meals were not enjoyable either. I hope they consider more basic hospitality from the customer's perspective.

    Overall, I think it was good.

    First, I made a reservation with the Diamond benefits, but there was no welcome drink. Even though I was carrying luggage in both hands when moving to the room, no one offered to help. I would have appreciated some consideration in that regard. Dinner was very delicious. Considering the price, I thought it would be nice to have a few more small dishes for breakfast. The bath in the room was very pleasant. The open-air bath at the ryokan felt a bit lukewarm and cold, so I enjoyed the open-air bath attached to the room. I thought it would be nice to have a hair tie or hair cap among the amenities. Overall, I thought it was good.

    It was fun.

    Following last month, I stayed again. Everything, including the food, bath, and living space, was excellent. I enjoyed it so much that I ended up drinking more. I'm glad I could visit before the snow fell, as it's hard to go once it starts snowing. I forgot something, but I received a prompt call and it was safely returned to me. I was even more touched to find a letter included. I've grown even fonder of Tsuruya-san. I look forward to the day I can meet you all again. Thank you so much for everything.

    A terrace and garden where you can relax at your leisure.

    I stayed with my husband at "Mori". Since our goal was to relax, we checked the homepage for "Mori" with a terrace that leads to the garden and were looking forward to it, but it was an even more wonderful room than we imagined. We warmed up in the open-air bath in the room, leisurely read books on the terrace, drank coffee, and enjoyed the scenery as the leaves began to change color. It was a very good time. There were many books in the room, lobby, and the lounge of the private open-air bath, which was a very pleasant hospitality for a book lover like me. Dinner was in a private room, and the staff's service was courteous, allowing us to enjoy our meal. The taste was also good. I would definitely like to stay again in a different season. We also stopped by the group store's Mori no Cafe KISEKI, and the cake was very delicious.

    I was able to relax ...

    I was able to relax slowly. The Onsen had soft water and was excellent. The meals were also delicious. The grated soup and soba were particularly delicious.

    Stay at Hana

    This time, I stayed at Hana. I've stayed here twice before, but this was the most comfortable room. The room bath had a hinoki aroma, allowing me to stretch my legs and relax. The food was truly delicious and very satisfying. Since it was served in the room, I could enjoy it leisurely. The staff were also very courteous. I was surprised that they provided an extra yukata this time, as I had mentioned in a review or survey last time that it would be nice to have one. It showed they really consider their guests. However, I rated the service a 4 this time because the price of the extra dish was different. It was also my fault for not checking properly at checkout... I will make sure to confirm next time. Despite this, I was very satisfied and would like to stay again. Thank you for a wonderful time.

    Quiet and comfortable hotel

    Since it is located in the innermost area of Shima Onsen, it is quiet, surrounded by greenery, and the breeze is pleasant. There are four private baths, each with its own unique features, and I ended up trying them all. The Shikanosaki bath is spacious and open, with a good water temperature, which was great. The presentation of the food was beautiful, and everything was very delicious, so I was very satisfied. The room, called "Ten," had a moderate size and a spacious open-air bath with free-flowing hot spring water, which was refreshing and pleasant. I enjoyed sitting on the balcony chair, taking in the greenery, mountains, and sky. Also, thank you for making rice balls for a late-night snack with the rice I couldn't finish.
