It’s worth visiting Hida-Furukawa just to stay at this Accommodation.
It’s worth traveling to Hida-Furukawa just to stay at this Accommodation. The building, constructed in the Meiji era, has been tastefully modernized while preserving its dignity and charm, making it a very comfortable place to spend time. The mountain-village cuisine—centered on Hida beef and river fish—is rustic yet refined, and feels like something you can only experience here. The staff’s hospitality is also excellent. The only drawback is that the entrance can be hard to find when walking from the station at night; I ended up standing helplessly in front of the old entrance, knocking with no response. When I tried to call, my phone showed a confusing “ENECHANGE EV charging station” label (apparently because there is an EV charging spot on-site), which added to the confusion. A brief note explaining this would be helpful.

Atsu, thank you very much for choosing our Accommodation for your mother-and-daughter stay. We are delighted to hear that your energetic mother enjoyed a relaxing and pleasant time with us. At the same time, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by insufficient guidance at check-in. In addition to the riverside entrance currently in use, our Accommodation also has an old entrance dating back to the Meiji period. At that old entrance, we display a map for guests arriving by car; however, you are correct that we did not provide clear directions for guests arriving on foot. We previously posted arrows directing guests to the riverside entrance as well, but because vehicle access differs due to one-way streets, this caused confusion and nearly led to an accident. For this reason, we have limited signage to one set only. Based on your feedback, we will review and implement clearer guidance so that guests are not confused. Regarding the display on your mobile phone, several staff members tested it on their devices but were unable to reproduce the same message, so the cause remains unknown. We hope that on the day after your stay—before continuing on to Shin-Hotaka—you were able to enjoy a leisurely walk around town as well, including Hida-Furukawa’s Festival Hall and herbal shops. We will continue striving to meet our guests’ expectations, and we would be grateful if you would consider staying with us again when you have another opportunity.
