    The semi-open-air ba...

    The semi-open-air bath in the room was great, but it was disappointing that the large public bath had a strong chlorine smell, and my body smelled of chlorine afterward! On the other hand, Ms. Kokoro, the attendant, was very pleasant and kind.

    Wonderful Stays

    I stayed during the New Year and was able to relax. The location is good, making it convenient for exploring Shuzenji. The garden is spacious, and the view from the lobby was excellent. The view from the room was also wonderful, and the room was clean. The amenities were well-equipped, with extra towels provided, plenty of outlets, underfloor heating under the bed, and separate top and bottom loungewear, which made it comfortable to stay. The meals were very delicious, especially in the evening, with a Western touch and creative presentation, which was very satisfying. My family also enjoyed the food very much. The only disappointment was that the meals were served in the room. Since we couldn't choose, it couldn't be helped, but I wished we could have dined in a lovely dining area. Eating in the room just doesn't feel as relaxing. The table in the room was a bit low for dining. It was fine for women, but men said it was difficult to eat because their legs were cramped. It would have been even better if there were some snacks at the free drink area. I appreciated being able to take drinks to the room. The staff, including the person in charge, were all pleasant and provided courteous service, making the stay enjoyable. I would like to visit again in a different season.

    We stayed as a family of four. The meals were just the right amount and delicious. The New Year's Eve and New Year's menu was also very good. The Onsen was wonderful, and we would definitely like to use it again.

    Very satisfied

    Cleanliness, toilet, bath, the newness of water facilities, cuisine, onsen, garden, and all the staff were impeccable. I think it's a good property. I stayed during the New Year holidays, and the complimentary alcohol in the refrigerator and high-quality shaving lotion were distinguishing features. The explanation of the 88 places tour in the garden, New Year's events like rice cake pounding, mirror sake, and sweet red bean soup might make it lively. Nevertheless, it was of high quality. I was satisfied.

    A bit disappointing

    Given the high expectations from a friend's recommendation, it was disappointing. The room was described as having a semi-open-air Onsen, but it felt more like a bath with a transparent glass window on the terrace side. The food lacked a freshly made feel, and the fried items were cold. Many dishes were not as plentiful as indicated on the menu, and since one person prepared the meals and laid out the futon, it took a long time. I felt there was room for improvement.

    I was very satisfied.

    From the moment we entered and started with the welcome drink, to the service provided by the lady in charge, the room grade, the view from the room, and the quality of the food, everything was completely satisfying. I would love to visit again.

    A delicious and pleasant stay

    Although the end of the year is approaching, this year there are still some remnants of autumn leaves, and the trees colored by the night illumination were beautifully reflected. Both dinner and breakfast were truly high-quality and delicious Japanese cuisine. The room with a semi-open-air bath and the bath itself were impeccably clean and well-maintained, which was impressive. The shampoo and conditioner in the large public bath seemed to have a slightly refreshing scent leaning towards men's products, but personally, I would have preferred something a bit milder. All the staff were pleasant, and thanks to them, it was a very comfortable, delicious, and relaxing stay. I would definitely like to visit again.

    First and foremost, the Japanese garden here is noteworthy. Although small, it uses the inn's back mountain as a borrowed landscape, offering rich undulations. The tastefully arranged rocks are vividly covered in moss, exuding the atmosphere of a serene ancient temple! The pond is filled with many colorful koi swimming gracefully! The ultimate relaxation! This is Shuzenji! The large public bath is spacious with various types, but the open-air bath features a modern glass-tiled tub measuring 2 meters square, which contrasts with the traditional Japanese image, leaving a personal sense of incongruity. Access to the open-air bath is inconvenient as it requires passing through the indoor large bath. The reclining bath seems to lack sufficient water, leaving the chest and abdomen exposed and cold. Both dinner and breakfast are substantial in quality and quantity. The dinner rice is cooked with abalone (with the liver also used for seasoning), offering not only an impressive appearance but also an exquisite flavor! However, while the sukiyaki pot (self-cooked) is delicious, personally, I would have liked to taste a unique dish from the head chef. The room is a Japanese-style room, but there is a Japanese-style bed on the side with the opening, with a wooden floor and equipped with floor heating! This is appreciated! The room's toilet is spacious, and the wallpaper in calming tones with luxurious patterns is memorable.

    For a 60th birthday celebration

    My close friend and I celebrated our 60th birthdays with a trip to this Stays. The building felt old, but the interior of the Room was beautifully renovated and had a sense of cleanliness. The garden was very spacious, and the trees were well-maintained. We chose this Property because we thought we could see the red autumn leaves from the Room, but unfortunately, the colors were late this year, and there were still some green maple leaves. This is something that can't be helped as it is nature. The Onsen had a smooth texture, and it made our skin feel moist. The private dining area was quiet and comfortable, and we enjoyed a delicious meal together. We would like to use it again if we have the opportunity.

    They were happy to accommodate a low-sodium diet.

    The view from the room was superb, with the slightly autumn-colored scenery looking like a painting. At night, we could enjoy the illuminated autumn leaves throughout. The low-salt meals were more accommodating than any other ryokan we have stayed at. Thank you for your thoughtfulness.

    My first time at Shuzenji Onsen

    A taxi is recommended from Shuzenji Onsen. Upon arrival at the lobby, you can enjoy a welcome drink and the garden's koi and power spots. I stayed for consecutive nights. There is a large public bath on the third floor, available from 3:00 PM to 12:30 AM and from 5:30 AM to 9:30 AM. Due to the gender switch, it is unavailable from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM for cleaning. Therefore, if you stay for consecutive nights, after having breakfast, you can relax by reading the newspaper and enjoying free drinks at the Sora Cafe on the first floor, but you won't be able to enter the hot spring until 3:00 PM. The bath in the room is not a hot spring. I thought the room wear would be a yukata, but it was a short-sleeved top and pants with a haori. The room wear is made of cotton, which absorbs sweat well and feels good on the skin, but it is gray with a beige-like color on the front opening. The soft fabric made it look worn out, which lowered my spirits. They brought me new room wear, so I attached a photo. At night, there was a constant sound like rain, which concerned me, so I checked with the front desk. It turned out that the alcove's ventilation fan was malfunctioning, so they set up an air purifier to run at full capacity as a replacement. Tabi socks, towels, and bath towels are also provided in the room. Since they are not available in the bath area, you need to bring bath towels and towels from the room. If you get sweaty and wet after bathing, they will bring you new ones upon request. Meals are served at the dining area on the second floor, and although the portions are small, the elaborate dishes can be enjoyed slowly and deliciously.

    Accommodation with good cost performance

    It was an inn that provided high satisfaction while eliminating excessive services and keeping costs down. The garden view was wonderful, and the food was delicious. If the weather is nice, I recommend taking a complimentary drink from the lounge and spending a relaxing time in the forest garden. I was unexpectedly pleased to experience the ReFa shower head. It would have been perfect if there was also a hairdryer. Before checking out, workers started repairing the garden, and since they were directly in front, I had no choice but to close the curtains. It was disappointing not to be able to enjoy the beautiful garden view. I wish they could have done it after checkout.

    It was an inn where you could relax and unwind.

    We stayed during the September holiday. The variety of hot springs, the delicious meals, the attentiveness of the staff, the garden, and the spaciousness of the room were all wonderful. We were able to spend a relaxing time, forgetting about time, on our first trip as a couple in 20 years. If I had to mention one thing, it would be that the slope in front of the inn was extremely steep, so once we entered the inn, we didn't feel like casually going out to the town. But I think that also became a fun memory of the trip, so it was good.
