    It was great.

    We stayed here on a trip with my parents-in-law. First, the view from the front desk was wonderful, and we were able to check in at a relaxed pace while enjoying a drink. Dinner was absolutely delicious. The Onsen had great views, and we could soak and unwind. We stayed in a Japanese-style room with futons, but I thought it would have been even more comfortable if the futon had been laid over a mattress (since someone in our group has back issues—maybe I should have asked). All of the staff were pleasant, we had a very comfortable stay, and I’m glad we chose this Hotel. Thank you for taking care of us.

    The view from the Room is spectacular!

    I’ve stayed at sister properties, Tōon Chikuon and Shiomachi Hotel, but this was my first time at Ofutei. Since the concepts are different, it’s hard to compare directly, but Tōon Chikuon is probably my favorite. At Ofutei this time I stayed in a Premium Suite. The view from the Room was wonderful, and I was satisfied with the furnishings as well. The only disappointment was that the in-room bath is not an Onsen (even so, the jacuzzi and the view from the bath were fantastic, and the instant switchable privacy glass was interesting). The Premium Lounge is fine for drinks, but the food selection feels limited—I’d like to see it improved a bit more. I have no particular complaints about either the meals or the service, but considering value for money, it feels somewhat borderline. One thing that left an impression... The rooftop open-air bath has a great view. When I went in late at night to avoid the intense daytime sun, a staff member spoke fluently in English to a foreign guest who arrived afterward. My English isn’t strong so I may be mistaken, but I believe they were explaining bathing etiquette—probably “Please don’t put your hair into the hot water” (my apologies if that’s not correct). In fact, seeing someone dunk themselves underwater right in front of me is unpleasant, so I appreciated how the staff handled it.

    This is not a service worth over JPY 40,000 per person.

    Stayed in the Executive Room Yoi -YOI- with a semi-open-air bath and lounge access (Japanese-Western style Room). Most of the staff were foreigners, so it felt like traveling abroad. At this price, drinks in the Room are charged. There were only two bottles of water. There was no kettle either, so we couldn’t boil water and ended up drinking tap water. At this price, breakfast is a buffet. Even if it were tasty it might be acceptable, but the bread was worse than at a Business Hotel. Because there are no blinds in the Room, strong sunlight pours in; if you close the roll curtain, it becomes pitch-dark. Dinner also didn’t feel thoughtfully prepared. The Room seems to have been renovated with care, but I wanted more basic services instead. I often stay at Ryokan in a similar price range, but this was the first time I regretted it. At this Accommodation, I wouldn’t be satisfied unless I booked a cheaper Room. The only good thing was that it looked nice in photos.

    The view from the wi...

    The view from the window of the renovated Room is like a painting. We thoroughly enjoyed the in-room bath in complete privacy. Dinner was just the right amount, and we also enjoyed the sea bream rice at the end. The Shuttle Service from Fukuyama Station was also very helpful for those traveling by Shinkansen. We would love to stay again in a different season.

    The bath is excellent.

    Our family of four stayed in a four-bedroom room. Due to the building’s layout, the sea is not directly in front of you, but you can still enjoy a good view. From the rooftop open-air bath, the large public bath, and the terrace, you can fully take in the calm scenery of the Seto Inland Sea right in front of you. The meals we had been looking forward to didn’t feel particularly special—just very ordinary—and were served one after another like a set course at an izakaya. We were surprised that rice and dessert were brought out without being asked, even before we had finished our drinks. It may have just been our particular server. Other than that, everyone was full of hospitality and it was a very pleasant stay. Thank you for taking care of us.

    Girls’ Trip

    We stayed here for a girls’ trip. All the staff greeted us with wonderful smiles and provided very attentive service. Both the exterior and interior were beautiful and very clean. The Room had a great view and was truly relaxing. The meals used local ingredients, and we were very satisfied with both the presentation and the taste. The Onsen also had a great view, and we were able to soak slowly and enjoy it.

    Stunning Views

    We stayed at this Accommodation on a trip to visit Fukuyama Rose Park. We chose the most standard Japanese-style Room, and since it was a corner Room, the ocean views from two directions were outstanding. The Room was easy to relax in, with a sofa and table, making it very comfortable. Many of the staff were young, and everyone was kind and considerate. Their service felt genuinely pleasant. Dinner featured different menus on both nights with thoughtful variety, using plenty of fresh seafood—it was delicious and we were very satisfied. The breakfast buffet was also well seasoned, and everything we tried tasted great. Tomonoura was a wonderful place.

    The sunrise glow seen from the Hotel window is wonderful.

    The Hotel amenities were excellent, and thank you to all the staff for their kindness. The Room was simply wonderful. The meals were flawless and delicious. We were also deeply grateful to receive a rare sake as a souvenir—it was truly moving. The sunrise over Tomonoura from the Hotel window was breathtaking beyond words, and we were genuinely touched.

    Highly recommended.

    Stayed on the first day of Golden Week. What I was most satisfied with was the dinner. Both the quality and quantity were perfect, and everything that was served was delicious. If there is one drawback, it’s that the Shuttle Service from the station isn’t very frequent; otherwise, everything is of a very high standard, and I highly recommend it.

    We stayed here to celebrate our wedding anniversary.

    We booked a Room with access to the Premium Lounge, so we were able to use it right after check-in. The view from the open-air bath on the top floor was amazing. Dinner was served in a private room, where we could relax and enjoy delicious dishes, making it a wonderful memory. We are grateful for the surprise gift from the Hotel.

    Beautiful harbor views

    A nostalgic harbor view where you can feel the tide coming in and going out right before your eyes. Watching the gently rising sun spread its light across the sea was a calming, peaceful moment. All of the staff, including international team members, spoke to us right away and were wonderfully attentive. Thank you very much.

    We stayed again for ...

    We stayed again for the first time in 25 years. Last time, we visited with our family of four and our parents; this time, it was just the four of us. We chose a Room with four beds and were able to relax and take our time. We were looking forward to the lounge, but we checked in around 5:50 p.m., and after being shown to our Room, my husband was hoping to enjoy a beer in the lounge—unfortunately, beer was only available until 6:00 p.m., which was disappointing. Still, we made full use of it after dinner, after bathing, and after breakfast, and really enjoyed it. Dinner was very delicious, with just the right amount of food, and the explanations of each dish were perfect. All staff greeted us with smiles—thank you very much. We would like to stay again.

    Stopped by on the way back to Osaka after a trip to Kyushu.

    After enjoying trips from Osaka to Fukuoka, Kumamoto, Mojiko, and more, we stopped by at the end to rest. Just as when I stayed here a few years ago with my first grandchild, I had a very comfortable time. I was able to rest well and made it home without feeling exhausted. I was also soothed by the pleasant Japanese spoken by the person who guided us; I was amazed at how far they have come from starting with hiragana, and their hard work encouraged me. Dinner was relaxing as well, thanks to the attentive hospitality of the staff, and everything was delicious. Breakfast was also very good. When we left, they kindly said “Please take care on your way home,” and even in a light drizzle they waved to us. Thanks to their warmth until the very end, we drove home feeling happy and arrived safely. I would love to visit again. Thank you very much.

    The rooftop open-air bath is highly recommended.

    It was a Hotel with a great view right in front of the sea. The rooftop open-air bath is not very large, but it was clean, and we were able to see the sunrise at just the right time, which felt wonderful. The staff were cheerful and courteous. Both the dinner and breakfast buffets were delicious with gentle seasoning, and we enjoyed many local ingredients unique to the area. The only thing that bothered us was the creaking door separating the terrace seating on the first floor—it made a loud squeaking sound. It echoed even in the lounge and was quite unpleasant, so that was disappointing. It’s a beautiful townscape, and we would like to visit again. Thank you very much.

    We stayed for one night starting on the 13th. It was a trip for two with my brother, who has limited mobility. On the 13th, due to strong winds, the Shinkansen was delayed by 80 minutes and we couldn’t make it in time for the Ofutei shuttle bus, so we weren’t sure what to do. However, thanks to the Hotel’s kind consideration, they arranged a shuttle bus for us, and we were able to enjoy a comfortable stay. Thank you very much.

    Spectacular Views

    The views were wonderful. The Onsen on the 3rd floor was just the right size, and the view from the open-air bath was also amazing. It was relatively uncrowded, so I could relax. The meals were also great, made with local ingredients. Thank you very much.

    The breakfast was disappointing.

    We had another relaxing stay at our favorite Accommodation. Last time, breakfast changed to a buffet in a new venue. The kaiseki-style breakfast was great too, but we enjoyed the wider variety of the buffet and were looking forward to it again this time. However, perhaps because it was the off-season and an affordable Plan, the “buffet” consisted of only a small amount of salad and drinks; everything else was a disappointing set of pre-plated small dishes already placed at our table. We would really like you to reconsider this. On the first day, both the large public bath and the open-air bath were lukewarm, so we didn’t feel like soaking multiple times. The next day was just right—are temperatures not adjusted? We would like to return again, so these are minor points, but we hope you can make improvements where possible.

    The Japanese staff’s behavior is disappointing.

    I’m always impressed by how capable the international staff are. In contrast, the Japanese staff need to try harder.\nBreakfast: rice and miso soup don’t arrive unless you ask. If you’re short-staffed, you should make it self-serve like the salad bar. Even then, many items are often missing and refills are slow. You should bring the refills first, then take away the empty containers.\nThe manager should personally check what is happening in the breakfast area.

    The winter season in Tomonoura was absolutely wonderful.

    During our visit last June, we were completely satisfied in every aspect and decided to return again in the middle of winter. This time as well, the same Plan and Room were excellent, and above all, the food was incredibly delicious, leaving us very satisfied. We are already discussing visiting again within this year.

    I stay at this accom...

    I stay at this accommodation 1-2 times a year and am always very satisfied. I always stay in the premium room on the top floor. The room and the onsen are excellent. Meals are served in private rooms, using local ingredients with seasonal presentation, making it enjoyable not only to eat but also to admire visually, which I greatly appreciate. However, this time breakfast was changed to a buffet style. It was held in a large hall where we dined together with other guests. When I noticed an available seat with a view of the outside scenery and made a request for it, the staff informed me that seating is based on arrival order and guided me to a seat near the center instead. The accommodation fee for the premium room remains unchanged from before. Considering the high cost paid for staying in this room, I would have appreciated being seated at one of those scenic-view tables if they were available at that moment of my request—I wasn’t asking for anything unreasonable or unavailable. The food itself was delicious as always; however, that particular aspect of service was disappointing this time around.

    I had a relaxing and satisfying stay again.

    I have been regularly using this accommodation whenever I return to my family home in Fukuyama. This time, I stayed with my mother to celebrate her 90th birthday. The room and dining area have been renovated and look very beautiful, and the dinner was absolutely delicious. The subtle gestures of celebration made us very happy. The 11 a.m. checkout allowed us to relax in the room while enjoying the ocean view after breakfast, which was wonderful. As my mother is elderly and long trips are difficult for her, having such a relaxing accommodation nearby is truly appreciated. A few points I noticed: The new dining chairs felt a bit low compared to the table, making it slightly uncomfortable for eating. Additionally, the chairs are heavy and may be difficult for elderly guests to move. The foreign staff members were all very polite and provided excellent service, leaving a positive impression. However, one young female staff member's strong perfume was noticeable during meals. We will definitely stay here again with our family!

    First Visit to Tomonoura

    I was finally able to visit Tomonoura, a place I had always wanted to see. Thanks to the attentive service, the comfort of the Room, and the delicious meals, I could fully enjoy my stay while still feeling the afterglow of sightseeing. Since we had in-room dining, I was able to leisurely enjoy a meal with my husband. The healing BGM playing in the Room was also very soothing. Even after check-out, being allowed to leave our car in the parking lot while we went sightseeing was incredibly helpful. Thank you very much!

    An accommodation perfect for digital detox

    A wonderful experience at the scenic Tomonoura. The onsen was excellent. The meals were perfectly seasoned and ideal for an onsen accommodation. The view from the accommodation was outstanding. Surrounded by Tomonoura, the stay offered relaxation with seagulls flying gracefully and the serene sea.

    40th Wedding Anniversary

    It was a great Hotel and Ryokan as per its reputation. We upgraded our dinner, and it was satisfying with no complaints. However, the breakfast buffet was crowded, which made it a bit challenging. Since it is popular and fully booked on the day of our stay, we understand the situation. The customer service was excellent, and staying in an 8th-floor premium room with access to the bar lounge was enjoyable. We were guided to park at the farthest spot in the parking lot, which was difficult due to our large car. Although it might be understandable for foreign staff members, considering there were still many open spots at that time, we hoped for more attentiveness in such situations.

    A room resembling a hospital room

    I made a Reservation through IKYU at a special prefectural appreciation price, and the information provided mentioned great views from the Room. However, the Room I was assigned faced the mountains. While I understand this as I often enjoy ocean views, what really bothered me was that the bathroom, toilet, and sink were all in one space resembling a hospital design. The door or sliding door was extremely heavy and made loud noises every time it opened or closed—an unbearable "bang" sound each time. It seems part of the door is hitting something; does the Hotel not inspect these issues? Seeing this hospital-like setup instantly ruined my mood and made me feel like I was hospitalized. While such facilities may be necessary for wheelchair users, it felt unnecessary for us. If this was the only available Room, perhaps it should not have been sold. I had high expectations since this Hotel belongs to a group of Hotels I love dearly but ended up deeply disappointed. Additionally: - No coffee or tea in the Room - Minimal amenities - No power outlets near the bed These inconveniences added up quickly. The meals were overly salty (especially soups), which also differed from what I'd experienced at other Hotels in this group. As for Onsen facilities: they are not very large overall, and while there is an open-air rooftop bath accessible by walking up from 8th floor stairs, it's quite small as well. With strong winds blowing during my visit, it wasn’t comfortable to use so we left shortly after arriving there. For those who love baths/Onsen experiences specifically—it might feel somewhat lacking here overall.

    My first stay was around 2004. While the exterior of the building has aged slightly, I can feel that the interior has been gradually improved with each visit, becoming better and better. The meals were also satisfying. I would love to stay here again if I have the chance.

    Used for a reunion.

    This Hotel offers excellent cost performance. The highlight is undoubtedly the view of the Seto Inland Sea from the Room and bath areas. From the rooftop open-air bath, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Tomonoura's scattered islands in the Seto Inland Sea. However, it’s worth noting that the rooftop open-air bath is not very spacious. This time, we chose a Plan with access to a private open-air bath, which turned out to be an excellent choice. It was very relaxing. The large public bath on the 3rd floor also has an open-air section, but for a true sense of openness, nothing beats the rooftop. Dinner received positive feedback from other reunion members as well. The sashimi and seafood fondue soup were delicious, but the grilled steak made with Togege Beef was particularly popular. Due to dietary restrictions, I had an alternative menu instead of sashimi and was served a seafood salad for which I am grateful—it was so good that it could be added to their regular menu. Breakfast was buffet-style; I especially enjoyed Tai Chikuwa (sea bream fish cake) and Setouchi Lemon juice. I hope they continue incorporating local ingredients into their menus moving forward. Some staff members were from overseas; however, their earnest attitude left a positive impression on me.

    A seaside Hotel with delicious meals

    The dinner was excellent, with delicious flavors and enjoyable explanations from the waiter, making for a delightful evening meal. The surrounding seaside scenery provided a relaxing and soothing atmosphere. I would love to enjoy another meal here if given the opportunity.
