    Everything is excellent.

    The room is clean and meticulously maintained. All the meals are delicious, and above all, the staff are incredibly kind, making you feel their heartfelt hospitality. This is my favorite accommodation. I will visit again soon.

    I was very satisfied with the bath and meals. The staff's hospitality was excellent, allowing me to have a comfortable and pleasant time. This is one of the accommodations I would like to visit again.

    This is my second stay.

    The open-air bath in the room had wonderfully smooth water again. The view from the room and the bath felt like a painting in a frame. We were able to relax and unwind in the room. Both my spouse and I enjoyed using the bath in the room five times. We would love to visit again. It is an excellent accommodation.

    You can enjoy your stay anytime.

    I visit every year and am always satisfied. The staff are consistently friendly, and the meals at the restaurant are well-balanced in quality and quantity, making them delicious. I have used Onshin before, but personally, I find the main building's Room with an open-air bath more relaxing. I look forward to visiting again.

    Highly rated and well-deserved

    I stayed here to celebrate a birthday. I was recommended a dessert plate and ordered one portion, which turned out to be incredibly satisfying—I'm glad I went for it. During check-in and check-out, I received warm congratulations, which made me very happy. The room, hot spring quality, meals, and service were all exceptional. If I had to mention one thing, it would have been nice if the public bath was open until midnight. The staff's skin was so clear and fair that I wondered if it was thanks to the hot spring water here! (laughs) Although I usually avoid accommodations with many guest rooms, this place felt so spacious that other guests didn’t bother me at all. Truly worthy of being Yamaguchi’s top accommodation! I’d love to visit again and try staying at Otani next time as well. Thank you for making it such a memorable occasion!

    Highly Satisfied!

    The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff's service was excellent. The dinner was not the usual kaiseki but a meal that made the most of carefully selected ingredients. The breakfast buffet exceeded expectations. This is an accommodation I would like to visit again.

    Girls' Night Out for 3

    We stayed at this accommodation for the first time as a group of three colleagues. The facility was quiet, allowing us to forget the usual hustle and bustle and relax completely, which was very satisfying. After a morning bath, we enjoyed a leisurely time on the terrace, admiring the river and mountains, which was incredibly refreshing. We would love to visit again during cherry blossom season. The hospitality was also polite and pleasant.

    It was excellent.

    This was my second stay. From the warm welcome to the staff's smiles and detailed explanations about the accommodation, everything was handled with care. One of my family members is left-handed, and they immediately noticed and adjusted the table setting and beer placement accordingly. Their thoughtfulness was exceptional. I would love to visit again.

    The service was very pleasant.

    Everyone says "Otanisanso is great," and I truly felt it. For returning guests, the warm "Welcome back" greeting is a wonderful touch. The new staff member who assisted us was very pleasant and provided a thorough explanation of the facilities. Since it's a large Ryokan, the walk to the public bath felt a bit far, but the scenic view from the bath was excellent, and with alternating access for men and women, we enjoyed it twice.

    I stayed here again with my 88-year-old mother, and we had a wonderful time. The staff were very attentive, the bath was relaxing, and the food was delicious. Thank you very much!

    It was the best hospitality.

    I stayed at the accommodation to celebrate my mother's birthday. After check-in, we were welcomed with freshly prepared matcha and Yamaguchi's specialty confection, Uiro. In the room, we were deeply touched by the birthday message and flowers. The staff's demeanor and warm smiles were wonderful. The cuisine, featuring delicious specialties from Yamaguchi, was exquisitely seasoned and absolutely delightful. Having stayed at various hotels and ryokans, this was truly an exceptional ryokan.

    Excellent Accommodation

    This is my second visit. I came back because I had a great experience last time. What makes this accommodation amazing is the incredible hospitality of all the staff! I think it's rare to find such a well-managed accommodation. You can really feel their effort in every detail. There are also events, so you won't get bored! The bread sold from 8 AM is very delicious—I ended up buying a lot, haha. This accommodation is one of my top three favorites, highly recommended!

    Wonderful accommodation!

    The staff's service from check-in to check-out was exceptional. The Room was clean, spacious, and very comfortable. We enjoyed the jacuzzi bath, though the view of dense trees was a bit disappointing. Additionally, the trash bin in the bathroom was placed under a drawer for aesthetic reasons, which made it slightly inconvenient to use. The public bath and meals were excellent, with portions that were just right for us. We had requested a birthday plate, which exceeded our expectations and brought great joy. The homemade bread at breakfast was outstanding! We checked in at 3 PM and stayed until checkout but felt like we needed more time to fully enjoy everything. Thank you very much!

    Wedding Anniversary

    This was our second stay, and even though we hadn't mentioned it was our wedding anniversary, a flower basket and a letter were placed in the room. During dinner, we were surprised but delighted to find red rice prepared in addition to the menu.

    Would love to visit again.

    For our first trip to Yamaguchi, we chose Otani Sanso as our base. Since we were traveling with a child under one year old, we opted for a Japanese-style room for safety and comfort during sleep. The room with a jacuzzi had large windows, offering an open and relaxing atmosphere. Our child seemed delighted, moving around the spacious room freely. We also appreciated the thoughtful preparation of a diaper disposal bucket in advance. Dinner was served in a private dining room, allowing us to enjoy it at our own pace. Although the staff member attending us seemed new, their warm smile and service left a positive impression. It was an excellent ryokan. If we have another chance to visit, we'd love to enjoy the onsen and concert that we missed this time!

    Excellent Accommodation

    As the reviews suggested, it was an exceptionally well-maintained accommodation. The staff provided service with genuine smiles and attentive care. The room, meals, and bath were all as expected. I was particularly impressed by thoughtful details often overlooked, such as disposable covers on the TV remote control and a mat placed in the tatami room for carrying cases—addressing concerns I usually have when staying at a ryokan. It seems they are constantly making improvements with creative ideas. Seeing Saturn's rings through the observatory dome was also a moving experience! It turned out to be a wonderful trip!

    I stayed in a suite ...

    I stayed in a suite with a sauna and an open-air bath. The room, which was renovated last year, was very clean, spacious, and excellent. However, the meal content did not quite match the price level, which was disappointing. At breakfast, the grilled fish was served long after the rice and other dishes had been brought out—so much so that I had already finished my rice by then. For breakfast, it would be normal for everything to be served together with the rice. The service was excellent.

    The Hotel has a large, classic design that reflects its era in a charming way, preserving the beauty of that time. The service is excellent, and above all, the bath was incredibly pleasant in every aspect—view, Facility, and water quality. I would love to stay here again.

    It was a wonderful accommodation.

    I had always wanted to stay at Otanisanso, so this time I chose the accommodation first and then decided on the destination. As expected, everything from the food, bath, to customer service was excellent. Even though it is a large hotel, every corner was impeccably clean, making it very comfortable. Unfortunately, my husband fell ill during the night. The staff responded promptly and arranged for an ambulance; I am truly grateful for their assistance. Despite it being late at night, they kindly came to pick us up from the hospital and were incredibly considerate throughout. I am especially thankful to the staff member who gently rubbed my husband's back while waiting for the ambulance to arrive. The next morning when I was having breakfast alone, a staff member expressed concern about my husband and spoke kindly to me—it warmed my heart deeply. Thank you so much for everything! Since my husband couldn't fully enjoy staying at your accommodation this time, we hope to visit again together soon for a relaxing stay!

    As you glance to the left at the small bridge over the Onshin River, you’ll see a staff member in traditional attire welcoming you with a friendly wave from afar. At the spacious entrance, valet service reminiscent of luxury Western hotels awaits, marking the start of your stay with professional and warm hospitality. Entering the lobby filled with anticipation, natural light and flowing water streaming through an expansive glass wall create an atmosphere that feels as if you're immersed in nature surrounding a mountain retreat. The refined interior design and attentive service exude a quiet elegance and timeless charm cultivated over years. This is truly an exceptional Ryokan. From the riverside terrace adjacent to Seseragi no Yu, look up to see fully bloomed pink flowers on large silk trees swaying gently. It’s still early for cicada songs; only the refreshing sound of fast-flowing streams fills the air. Although this time I stayed here as a stopover en route to my destination, I would love to return for a multiple night stay with this mountain retreat as my main destination. Strolling leisurely along Onshin River, observing trees more closely, spending entire days surrounded by nature—this is how I’d like my next visit to be. As evening falls, enjoying delicious cuisine and relaxing in Onsen would complete such an ideal journey.

    Thank you so much for accommodating our last-minute changes. The view from the Room was wonderful, and the room with a sunken kotatsu was very comfortable for the elderly. The large public bath was spacious with high ceilings and truly impressive. The scenery was stunning, and we were fortunate to enjoy clear weather and a beautiful starry sky. My parents thoroughly enjoyed their day at Otanisanso. They also mentioned that the meals were absolutely delicious. Thank you again for everything!

    The service provided...

    The service provided by everyone was very pleasant. In particular, the young woman from Vietnam offered exceptional service with a wonderful smile, kindness, and attentiveness that made the experience truly enjoyable. She even came to greet us the next morning. Hearing her positive stories about her dreams was inspiring and uplifting. Everywhere was clean, beautiful, spacious, and relaxing. The Onsen was also very soothing and allowed us to unwind completely. The dinner had a seasonal touch with mild flavors that were delicious. The portions were just right—not too much—which we appreciated greatly. Overall, it’s easy to see why this place receives high ratings and has many repeat visitors!

    Relax and unwind

    This accommodation, which also welcomes distinguished guests from abroad, is worth visiting at least once. I visited for a one-night stay, traveling from Tokyo to Ube Airport and then by rental car. Overall, I enjoyed the stable comfort and had a relaxing experience. Before going, I asked the accommodation staff about driving there with a rental car, and they kindly explained that you can take local roads that are relatively open. The rental car staff also reassured me that it’s easy to navigate using local roads without taking the highway. It was exactly as they described. This accommodation offers attentive service while providing a relaxed atmosphere—truly worth the visit!

    The best accommodation.

    The highlight of our stay was the exceptional service provided by the staff. They were incredibly polite, attentive, and demonstrated outstanding hospitality. However, it was a bit disappointing that the explanation during stargazing was difficult to hear.

    Stayed for 2 nights in the Nagato Suite.

    The bread at the breakfast buffet was incredibly delicious. I heard that they bake it fresh every day and there is also a bakery shop on the second floor. I stayed for a multiple night stay, but the breakfast buffet menu was exactly the same each day. The dinner dishes were beautifully presented and tasted great, especially the rice served at the end, which was exceptional. However, on both days, there were few side dishes, so I didn’t feel full. Compared to other ryokans and hotels I've stayed at, this might have been the smallest portion size I've experienced. Although it’s quite a large ryokan, the souvenir shop inside closes at 7 PM and there are no izakayas within the premises. On my first night, I had a ¥600 instant noodle from a vending machine; on my second night, I ordered room service with fries and rice balls instead. When I asked one of the staff members about this issue, they mentioned that other guests often comment about insufficient meal portions as well. The bathwater was silky smooth and offered breathtaking views from its large public bath area. As for my room reservation through IKYU.com under their Junior Suite Plan option—it turned out to be an old room with views of roads outside rather than anything resembling what photos suggested or fitting "Junior Suite" standards whatsoever! Disappointed enough by such misrepresentation initially led me toward upgrading into Nagato Suite after paying extra fees where finally enjoyed pleasant accommodations instead though still puzzled why additional bottled water costs ¥220 despite being labeled 'suite.' Given how expansive facilities cater well towards group tours/events judging numbers parked microbuses alongside frequenting clientele demographics observed firsthand during stays here—this property could make sense revisiting someday perhaps organizing company trips alike occasions ahead!
