    The hospitality was outstanding, and I would love to stay here again.

    I stayed here while traveling with a couple of friends. Everything was excellent, and compared with other Accommodations in the same price range, I felt it offered outstanding value for money. I would definitely like to stay again. Hospitality I made a slightly unusual request, but all the staff responded very politely and thoughtfully. I also really appreciated the small touches, such as being able to borrow pool towels free of charge afterward and having towels available in the bath area as well. There was a wide selection of welcome drinks, and I enjoyed every one. Facilities Not only is the building truly one of a kind, but everything—from the audio room and pool to the futons in the Room—was wonderful. The audio room in particular was an amazing experience. Next time, I’d like to bring my own records. Although it is a historic building, it is carefully maintained throughout and felt very clean. Meals Both dinner and breakfast were delicious. Breakfast especially was fun, with side dishes you don’t often see at a typical buffet-style breakfast. Bath It’s not an Onsen, but I found the bath area clean and open, and it was very relaxing. The walk there is enjoyable too.

    We were very satisfied.

    We were extremely satisfied with everything—the service, the meals, and the Room. Every dish was delicious, and both dinner and breakfast were outstanding. The service was excellent as well and made us want to come back. It was hot this time so we couldn’t take a walk around the garden, but we’d like to visit again in a different season and enjoy a stroll through the garden. The food looked so good that we only managed to take photos of the appetizers.

    Wonderful

    This was my first stay, and I was truly impressed by the hospitality beyond my expectations and the delicious food.     A truly wonderful accommodation

    We stayed for one night with a family we know. The men went golfing and were delighted with the wonderful golf course. Meanwhile, we enjoyed using the audio room and taking a walk around the garden. Even though we arrived early, the staff treated us with great care and courtesy. They also shared the history behind various spots in the building, making this Accommodation truly memorable. It was a little disappointing that there is no Onsen, but we would definitely like to stay again.

    Nestled deep in the forest, you’ll wake up to the wonderful sound of birdsong each morning.

    This was our first stay. My wife absolutely loves swallowtail butterflies, and last month in June she raised six from tiny eggs and released them. Since her strong wish coincided perfectly with the caterpillar exhibition, we made a Reservation here because Iwata City Ryuyo Insect Nature Observation Park was only about 20 minutes away by car. To make the most of the trip, before check-in we also booked a factory tour of Yamaha’s grand piano workshop in Kakegawa. It was an incredibly rich and valuable experience—and we even received a keyholder souvenir—then headed on to Kitano-Maru. The residence is impressively spacious, and the staff’s hospitality was outstanding; it truly put us at ease. Our Room (Aoi-den) used plenty of wood throughout, and although we have stayed at many Hotels and Ryokan in the past, the comfort here stood out: the sofa was wonderfully relaxing, and the slightly firm bed provided exceptional sleep—my wife couldn’t stop praising it. In the morning, we woke to birdsong surrounded by deep greenery; it was a beautiful start to the day. The open-air bath area—including the changing room—was spotless and very pleasant. In the private audio room, we were able to listen at high volume using Yamaha’s top-of-the-line amplifier and speakers. Simply amazing... And of course there was also a premium grand piano—my wife played “Chopsticks”... such an unfortunate choice of song... I felt sorry for that grand piano... (tears). Dinner was an excellent course showcasing the chef’s craftsmanship. My wife enjoyed the pairing menu while I enjoyed mocktails; in particular, an à la carte crown melon soup available only this season was outstanding—I could have had five more bowls! Breakfast was buffet-style as well; with morning sunlight streaming in as we admired the lovely garden, it felt like an elegant moment—and we were very satisfied. After checkout we visited Kakegawa Kachouen Bird Park; my wife also loves birds, so it worked out perfectly—and honestly, it felt like we were being entertained by them instead (laugh). This ended up being quite long—I wrote it almost like quick notes—but instead of simply passing through Shizuoka on our way to Mt. Fuji or Izu as usual, this trip began with my wife’s interest in insects and led us to many discoveries and encounters across Iwata City, Fukuroi City, and Kakegawa City. It became a memorable wonderful journey! Highly recommended for fellow seasoned IKYU members as well. Thank you very much. We will definitely visit again during swallowtail butterfly hatching season! P.S.: A surprise swallowtail butterfly design on my wife’s dessert plate at dinner—she was thrilled!!

    This is a wonderful, top-rated Hotel.

    The Room, service, Facilities, and meals were all outstanding. Being able to use the audio room for two hours was an especially welcome service. I truly enjoyed the audio system and piano in such a wonderful space, and I would love to stay again next time. The Room was very clean and comfortable, and the blend of Japanese and Western styles is excellent. It was wonderful to be able to relax comfortably while enjoying the pleasant scent of wood. The service was attentive throughout, with exceptional hospitality. There also seemed to be a group of international guests, but perhaps dining arrangements were separate—the restaurant remained quiet and relaxing, and the food was delicious. Overall, I think it’s an exceptional Hotel; if I had to share a small request: Most dishes were lightly seasoned, which suited me perfectly (and seems intentional), but a few items were very strongly flavored. Since it’s hard to tell by appearance alone, some kind of note or label would have been helpful. Also, in addition to the large public bath there is another indoor bath closer to the guest Rooms—if it could be reserved privately by time slot, it would feel even more special.

    Wonderful hospitality

    Everything—the building, the rooms, the cuisine, and the staff—was wonderful and full of genuine hospitality. It’s a bit far from home, which is a shame, but I would definitely like to stay again.

    We stayed as a group...

    We stayed as a group of four with a couple of friends. This was a Hotel we had always wanted to try, and despite our high expectations, it was an extremely satisfying stay. For dining, we chose the Kanade course, and for an older couple it offered both the flavor and portion size that left us truly satisfied. The building’s traditional Japanese architecture felt grand and substantial, allowing us to relax at ease. Before breakfast, we took about a 30-minute walk around the grounds. Surrounded by trees and blessed with good weather, it was a very pleasant stroll. Next time, we hope to stay again and combine it with a round of golf.

    Wonderful Accommodation

    Because it’s close to home, I stay here from time to time for a change of pace. This was my first visit with my grandchild. After being featured on nationwide TV, the place felt lively. I was impressed by the various new hospitality touches—for example, complimentary drinks available from check-in, and access to three baths (with separate hours for men and women). The rock open-air bath was spacious, and I could relax and enjoy it fully. Dinner was delicious. My grandchild usually eats very little, so I was surprised to see them say “It’s tasty” and finish almost all of the kids’ meal. I’d like to come back with my grandchild when the pool is open. Looking forward to more new hospitality ideas...

    This was my first time staying here.

    I stayed at Katsuragi Kitano-maru on a solo trip. From the moment I arrived, I was struck by how beautifully the entire grounds are maintained. The expansive garden is meticulously cared for in every corner, with seasonal flowers and trees that were lovely to see, and simply walking around felt soothing. The harmony between the historic buildings and nature made it feel like I was staying in another world, and I was able to enjoy a truly special time. The interior was also impeccably clean, and I spent my stay comfortably in a calm atmosphere. The staff were courteous and warm, with just the right level of attentiveness, so even traveling alone I could relax without any hesitation. I especially recommend this Accommodation to women considering a solo trip. Security measures in the women-only area of the large public bath were well implemented, allowing me to use it with peace of mind. Safety can be a concern when traveling, but their consideration in this regard left an excellent impression. The bath area itself was quiet and relaxing, and I could unwind slowly from everyday fatigue. Spending time while looking out over the building and garden felt truly luxurious, and I left feeling refreshed both physically and mentally. This is a wonderful Accommodation where you can feel comfortable even on your own and enjoy high-quality time. Next time, I’d love to return in a different season to experience another side of the garden.

    It was an elegant Hotel.

    With its imposing gate and a beautifully restored large traditional Japanese house, this is a stunning Hotel. You can really feel Yamaha’s seriousness and financial strength. I stayed in the Aoi-den Room. The view from the window is nothing but greenery, with birdsong—perfect for a retreat. The Room furnishings are substantial, and you can sense the attention to detail even in the small items and glassware. Many guests seemed to be visiting in golf groups, and the lobby was quite noisy, but even so, “quietness” is what stayed with me about this Hotel. The dining area is spacious, and while looking out over the wide garden, I was able to enjoy elegant and truly delicious Japanese-Western fusion cuisine. The bath isn’t an Onsen, so that’s one point off, but it’s very clean and pleasant. All of the staff are kind as well. It felt like things were running smoothly thanks largely to experienced team members.

    We truly enjoyed this extraordinary getaway.

    My elderly mother and I stayed here as two women. We spent two nights at the Accommodation, and the fresh green garden was beautiful—perfect for a pleasant walk. Even though we weren’t there for golf, we were able to relax and unwind completely. The meals were thoughtfully prepared and delicious. Although it was just the two of us, we were very satisfied with the Shuttle Service to the station. The only disappointment was that it wasn’t an Onsen; everything else was excellent.

    We had a relaxing stay!

    This was my third stay, and thank you again for a truly relaxing time. My personal impressions of each item are as follows: Room & amenities: The Room was clean and very functional, with plenty of amenities. Hospitality & service: As it was during Golden Week, check-in coincided with many other guests; we were guided to our Room fairly quickly after the welcome drink in the lobby. At check-out, the lobby was crowded with lunch guests and felt a bit hectic. Other than that, I was satisfied with the service. Onsen & baths: Both the large public bath and the in-room bath were clean, and I enjoyed them many times. Facility & equipment: It was great to see a good balance of modern features and classic touches. The mini piano performance in the lobby was also wonderful. Dining: Every time, I’ve been very satisfied with delicious seasonal dishes. Overall satisfaction: I would appreciate smoother handling at check-in and check-out, but otherwise I was very satisfied. I will visit again at a different time of year.

    An Accommodation you’ll want to stay at again and again.

    My first visit was in October last year, and this was my second stay. Three of us stayed—my mother, my sister, and I. Last time there was no system for switching the large public bath between men and women, but this time we were also able to use Yukura, which made us very happy. For dinner last time we chose the Gin course, but it was far too much food, so this time we selected the “Delicious Small-Portion” course. Everything tasted excellent and we were full, but the portions were smaller than we had expected. Next time we plan to choose the standard course. Also, we had been looking forward to eel rice in the Mai course, but it was sakura shrimp rice instead. We emailed two days in advance that one of us does not like shrimp; since sakura shrimp was used generously, it would have been nice to have been informed beforehand. Breakfast has been changed entirely to a buffet style, which we found more convenient. Each of us enjoyed choosing what we liked and everything was delicious. The wisteria had already finished blooming, but the greenery after the rain was very beautiful, making this a highly satisfying trip. Thank you very much.

    The Heart of Japan

    Thank you very much for your wonderful hospitality. The meals were excellent, making full use of local ingredients. The atmosphere of the Accommodation is beyond words and cannot be conveyed online. We look forward to visiting again. We highly recommend it to everyone.

    I stayed here as a solo traveler.

    I ended up staying here this time simply because it happened to catch my eye while planning a solo trip. Upon entering the building, the staff greeted me politely, handled the check-in process, and guided me to my Room. Unfortunately, the Room I reserved did not overlook the vast garden on the grounds, but there was lush greenery outside the large window and it was bright. Both the facilities and my Room were well cleaned and felt very fresh. However, I did notice a slight odor in the bathroom. I enjoyed both dinner and breakfast at a dining area with a view of the expansive garden. Dinner was delicious with locally sourced ingredients, and for me it was just the right amount—filling without being too much. Breakfast was buffet-style; I especially liked the seafood rice bowl and ended up going back for seconds. One small disappointment was that the men’s large public bath felt smaller than expected, and with just three or four people in it, it somehow felt cramped. That said, I went again near closing when it was empty and was able to relax on my own. There is also an audio listening lounge available exclusively to guests, and when I asked on a whim whether there were any openings that day, I easily got a Reservation and decided to try it. It’s a wonderful space, but listening to classical music alone at high volume somehow made me feel oddly unsettled. (Laughs) It was my first time experiencing something like that. Traveling alone did feel a bit lonely at times, so next time I’d like to come back with my wife.

    We stayed here as a family, and it is a very nice accommodation.

    We stayed here as a family of four during cherry blossom season. The staff’s attentiveness was truly wonderful. The garden is beautiful, and waking up to the outdoor view, birdsong, and the sounds of small animals was very soothing. We were told it was fine to dine in the provided loungewear, so we did, though most guests seemed to be in their own clothes. Watching our elderly relatives, we felt that a few more handrails would be helpful at places like the entrance to the large public bath and the entrance to the open-air bath. In particular, just outside the open-air bath there is a slight step down that felt a bit unexpected. We would appreciate it if you could consider this. Thank you for taking such good care of us. We would love to visit again if we have the chance, and we will recommend it to friends.

    A Relaxing and Restorative Accommodation

    Surrounded by nature, with a spacious garden and a building designed to match it, we were able to spend a truly relaxing time. We had visited once before, after “Troussier Japan (football/soccer)” stayed here, but this was our first time since then. Since you can see the garden from the main dining room as well, we enjoyed not only the dinner dishes but also the atmosphere. The audio room was wonderful too. This is an Accommodation we would definitely return to. Lastly, just a small thing—at the breakfast buffet… Shizuoka strawberries are delicious, so I went to get some, but they were already gone. When I asked a staff member, I was told they had finished. First come, first served? The service overall was excellent, so it was a bit disappointing.

    A wonderful Accommodation with a spacious garden on expansive grounds

    This was my first stay. We stayed in the Room called “Nagi,” and it was truly wonderful. The Room is only a year old, and as soon as we stepped inside, it still smelled of fresh wood. After passing through the entrance, a beautiful Japanese garden with a water feature comes into view. Until now, I had always chosen an Accommodation based on spectacular views, so I never would have picked this type of Room. However, this trip was decided at the last minute and there weren’t many options, so we happened to stay in a Room without a view like this. It turned out to be amazing, and it was a great opportunity to realize that this kind of Room is absolutely worth choosing too. At night, the reflections of the trees on the water were beautiful, and the open-air bath was softly lit with indirect lighting—everything about the Room, including the garden, felt wrapped in elegant modern Japanese style. These days it’s not that rare for everything in the in-room refrigerator to be complimentary, but the quality of what was provided here was excellent: beer was Yebisu Beer, and instead of sparkling wine there was Champagne—my partner was delighted. We took a walk around the garden and were surprised by how vast it is—we almost felt like we could get lost. The nature is stunning, and listening to the chorus of frogs was very soothing. The large public bath area was kept very clean; however, it felt fairly standard overall without anything particularly memorable. For dinner we had soft-shelled turtle kaiseki course cuisine, and everything was truly delicious. My partner said her favorite dish was the one with soft-shelled turtle meat on top of cheese risotto; for me, nothing beat the hot pot (marunabe) and rice porridge (zosui). The restaurant atmosphere was lovely and the service was excellent. Breakfast was served in a private room. It was very filling for morning food, but everything tasted great—and not only did I finish it all; my partner did too (laugh). Lastly, all of your staff were cheerful and kind throughout our stay, which made our time there very pleasant. Thank you very much.

    A wonderful space and warm hospitality

    We were first amazed by the magnificent, luxurious building! Not only were the facilities outstanding, but the hospitality and meals were also excellent. We were impressed by the flavors that made the most of the ingredients and by the well-balanced portions that even my elderly mother could finish. We would love to visit again in another season.

    An Accommodation You’ll Want to Return To

    As we walked from the parking lot toward the Accommodation, a service staff member noticed us and came outside to welcome us. The explanations and guidance in the lobby were also very courteous and pleasant, and we were completely satisfied with the service from start to finish. One of the large public baths was under construction, so we would like to visit that one as well if we have another opportunity. The property is very spacious and has a courtyard, making it enjoyable to stroll around, and we would love to stay again.

    A Regular Retreat for Relaxation

    The new Sakuraden is wonderful and very relaxing. I enjoyed a little alcohol during the complimentary drinks in the evening, and the delicious dinner afterward feels a bit indulgent but really helps melt away everyday fatigue. Dinner is excellent, and the staff’s explanations are polite and easy to understand. However, I was somewhat disappointed with breakfast the next morning. The dining area is a private room with a view of the courtyard, which has a lovely atmosphere, but the boxed meal itself was not particularly impressive. That may be because dinner was so outstanding. In particular, the cookies and quarter-cut doughnuts in the dessert box were not appealing. The buffet used by guests other than Sakuraden might be better since you can choose what you like. Still, overall this is an excellent Accommodation that I would like to make my regular place to stay. I have written these honest comments despite how wonderful it is. I will visit again soon and am looking forward to it.

    This is my fourth visit.

    I stayed here three months ago, and this time I visited with a friend for the first time. Since it was for two people this time, we chose a slightly better room with access to the Fujidono garden, allowing us to enjoy the view of the garden all day and feel truly relaxed. The meals were as delicious as always. Everything was wonderful, and every visit makes me think about when I can come back next. Thank you for your hospitality!

    Like a private villa

    This was our first stay at the accommodation. We enjoyed a blissful time as if we were staying in a private villa, with access to the audio room for two hours for our family of four. The room was clean, and items like beer in the refrigerator were complimentary. Dinner was served in a private room, allowing us to relax while dining. The portions were modest but just right for us, and the meat was especially delicious. Breakfast was a buffet, and all the guests were quiet and respectful, making it a calm dining experience.     Everything was perfect!

    I chose this accommodation for a trip with my mother and her friend, as I thought a relaxing stay at a nice accommodation would be better than sightseeing for the two elderly travelers. From the moment we arrived by shuttle service, all three of us were deeply impressed. The building, service, room, meals, and bath were all excellent. What made it even more special was the dedication and thoughtfulness of the staff. We truly had a fulfilling and wonderful time. Thank you so much! We definitely want to visit again.
