    Hotel with a large public bath

    Conveniently located near Sendai Station. At the front desk, all guests' names were required, and we had to wait for the staff to input them, which took time as we had 2 rooms for 4 people. Additionally, the elevator often took a while to arrive, making the wait feel long. The large public bath was relaxing and helped relieve fatigue.

    It was great.

    I had a very relaxing stay. The bed was comfortable, and the 100% cotton pajamas felt great on my skin, allowing me to sleep soundly. The large bath and sauna were refreshing, and I appreciated the complimentary drinks and ice cream in the lounge. The breakfast buffet offered a variety of Sendai specialties like seafood bowls, beef tongue, sasa kamaboko, zunda mochi, and zunda shakes, along with many other dishes and desserts. Everything was delicious! Although the price was on the higher side, I thoroughly enjoyed it. One concern was that the Room was a bit dark for reading comfortably. Still, it was an excellent Hotel for relaxation! The staff were also very kind. Thank you so much!

    Relax and unwind at our spa!

    Checked in after a business trip. Concerned about the crowd at the SPA due to full occupancy, I finished some remaining work in my Room before heading to the SPA past 9 PM. It was helpful to check the crowd status on the Room TV. There was no waiting for washing areas, and it wasn’t overly crowded, allowing me to relax and enjoy my time there. The complimentary beer service is a nice touch! Although there was a small line in front of the server since it was late, it wasn’t an issue. I wanted to spend more time relaxing on the lounge chairs but had to skip it this time due to schedule constraints. Even so, I felt very refreshed during that brief moment. I love Hotel Monterey’s European-style exterior and interior design; however, this time, I noticed that the clock in my Room was off. It’s an elegant analog clock with character but gave me a sense of discomfort when I realized something felt off. Since I'm someone who tends to keep checking once something catches my attention (laughs), it bothered me quite a bit! I assume items are checked during regular cleaning sessions, so this might have been an exception. Other than that minor issue with the clock, everything else—including the bed—was as comfortable as always. Thank you again for another pleasant stay! I haven’t had a chance recently to visit your restaurants; I'd love to revisit both your French and Japanese dining options soon!

    Conveniently located near the station with excellent transportation access.

    The Hotel had excellent access to JR and subway stations. The interior design of both the room and the entire Hotel was well thought out, and although it was just a one-night stay, I was very satisfied. I would love to use this Hotel again.

    The building is old, but it was clean and comfortable. You can check the spa's crowd status on the Room TV, and both the bath and lounge were not crowded, which was great. One free beer was provided, and soft drinks and ice pops were available unlimited. The breakfast buffet was typical of large Hotels but included local specialties like beef tongue and seafood bowls from Miyagi, which we enjoyed in small portions. Two types of rice were also offered. Although the front desk was busy during both check-in and check-out, they handled everything smoothly. We could leave our luggage there while sightseeing, making it very convenient due to its proximity to the station.

    Highlights: Complimentary soft drinks and ice cream after bathing, one free beer. Enjoyed a drink while sitting on the sofa and watching TV after using the large public bath. Uncommon for a hotel of this class. The ladies' room amenities were impressive, including Snow Skin Essence, bath additives, and hot masks—more comprehensive than other accommodations of this level. Very satisfying. The breakfast buffet was decent but slightly inconvenient in terms of layout, making it hard to navigate. The zunda mochi shake and seafood bowl were delicious. However, the omelet took quite some time to be served despite ordering it in advance. Areas for Improvement: Due to having a larger car that didn’t fit in the parking lot, I was directed to an affiliated parking area nearby; however, even following the map provided was confusing and led me to circle around again unnecessarily. During checkout, there was no smile or greeting such as "Thank you" or "Have a nice day." The staff handed over the parking service ticket with only a brief glance without looking away from their computer screen. While many hotels handle checkouts via machines nowadays with minimal staff interaction—even if check-in is polite—this accommodation stands out with its complimentary drinks and amenities at this level of service quality. It would have been great if there had been a warm farewell during checkout that could encourage guests to consider staying here again next time!

    I will stay here again when I visit Sendai.

    Chosen for its proximity to Sendai Station and the large public bath, this accommodation exceeded expectations. ○ Close to the station → Just a 3-minute walk. With a convenience store next door, it was convenient for buying souvenirs at night, visiting the morning market, or leaving luggage before and after check-in to explore tourist spots. ○ Large public bath → It was great to check the crowd status on the room TV. The relaxation room offered drinks and allowed me to elevate my feet, which helped relieve fatigue. ○ Extremely hot day → On an incredibly hot day after sightseeing in sweat-drenched clothes, I checked in and received a cold wet towel that was truly refreshing and helpful. ○ Amenities → The ladies' floor felt secure with well-stocked amenities that provided refreshment. Although I noticed the good quality hairdryer in the room, I didn’t use it as I opted for the large public bath instead. There was a black basket in the room's storage area that seemed useful for trips to the large public bath; clearer guidance on this would have been appreciated!

    Great bath, great atmosphere.

    The bathhouse is clean, and the lockers are spacious. The washing areas are individually partitioned, so you don't have to worry about your neighbors. It would be nice if the men's bath showerheads were also upgraded to Mirable. The Room is compact and functional. It was a comfortable Hotel to stay in.

    It was a wonderful Hotel.

    I stayed here on the first night of my trip to Tohoku. Last month, I stayed at Hotel Monterey Kobe and, despite its age, I loved the calm interior and decor that matched my taste. For this trip to Sendai in Tohoku, I decided to stay with Hotel Monterey again. The hotel is conveniently located near the station, and I was impressed by its classic-style exterior and interior design. The top-floor public bath was especially relaxing, with amenities like massage chairs that made my stay even more comfortable. I also appreciated thoughtful touches like complimentary ice pops. Having had two great experiences in a row, I look forward to staying at other locations in the future as well. Thank you!

    Please consider staying with us.

    I lived in Sendai for about 8 years before, but this was my first time staying at Hotel Monterey in Sendai. This time, I stayed for three days with my husband. Although we didn’t have the chance to enjoy an Onsen despite being in Sendai, I remembered hearing that there was a spa on the top floor. The service was excellent and very pleasant! Taking a bath in a large facility really helps you relax! There’s also a comfortable space to unwind, and complimentary ice cream and beer are available. The spa is closed once a month, but the morning bath is also refreshing. However, beer and ice cream are not available in the morning. The hotel staff were all very accommodating, from older staff members to younger ones. Our room was slightly small, but since we were out most of the day, cleanliness mattered more than size. The classical lighting, furniture, and paintings created a gentle atmosphere that allowed us to forget our daily lives for a while. Breakfast included delicious beef tongue and omelets with great sauces and fillings. While it’s not an ultra-luxury hotel, it provided great satisfaction overall. My husband also said he enjoyed his stay here. If you’re visiting Sendai even once, I highly recommend Hotel Monterey!

    Business Hotel near the Station

    I stayed for travel purposes. I chose this Hotel because it is close to the station and has a large public bath. Here are some points I noticed during my stay: 1. The smell in the Room's toilet was bothersome. 2. There were no slippers inside the large public bath area. 3. There were no vending machines inside the Hotel. 4. Staff hospitality could be improved. Overall, while it lacked a sense of hospitality, I think it's a decent choice if you consider it as a Business Hotel experience!

    A Hotel Preferred by Women

    A charming European-style Hotel both inside and out. The Onsen on the top floor exudes luxury, truly like a "spa." It's fantastic that you can access it from your Room in pajamas and slippers. Enjoying a beer after the bath is also a delightful touch. It would have been even better if amenities like lotion were provided in the Room.

    Everything was incredibly excellent! I was able to truly relax, and thanks to that, my work progressed remarkably well. I always feel that accommodations in Sendai offer great quality compared to their prices, but this hotel was especially outstanding. The bed allowed for a deep sleep, and the towels and slippers were all fluffy and comfortable. Both the building itself and the services provided, as well as the staff, were wonderful. Thank you very much. I believe I will stay here again when I visit Sendai next time. Looking forward to it!

    Power Outage on the Day

    Although we were informed about the power outage on the day, wouldn't it be considerate to offer a brief apology in such cases? We chose this place for its spacious Room and Onsen, but since we couldn't use the Onsen that day, an apology would have been appropriate. As for breakfast, it may suit those who enjoy beef tongue, but I personally found nothing suitable to eat. The fruits were delicious. I had seen images of rice balls but was disappointed to learn they cost an additional 4,400 yen.

    Recommended Hotel for a Relaxing Stay

    This was my second stay. Convenient location near the station. Breakfast is slightly expensive (reasonable for current prices), but the buffet offers a great selection of Sendai gourmet dishes. At the spa, complimentary ice cream is available, and one beer was also free. I stayed for two nights; on the first night, I couldn't relax due to work, but on the second night, I enjoyed a relaxing bath followed by a beer. The downside was that noise from upstairs and door sounds from neighboring Rooms were noticeable.

    I would love to use it again next time.

    I stayed on the 14th-floor ladies' floor for a two-night multiple night stay. The room would have been perfect if it were slightly larger and had a sofa, but it was a bit small, and I could hear the noise of other guests returning to their rooms late at night quite clearly, so I rated the room 4 out of 5. As it was a women-only room, the amenities were very well-equipped. Despite being an older building, both the elevator and stairs were charming, and I enjoyed using the spa and sauna in the morning. The staff at reception, dining area, and cleaning team were all very pleasant. The accommodation is also conveniently located near the station, making my stay highly satisfying. For meals, I only added breakfast; on the first night’s stay I had a buffet breakfast while on the second night’s stay I enjoyed a Japanese-style breakfast—both were delicious. Next time, I'd like to use the spa in the evening and fully enjoy lounge services as well!

    Stylish and spacious rooms, a large public bath, and high-quality meals made for an extremely satisfying stay. When comparing onsen accommodations outside the city with business hotels near Sendai Station to make the most of our time in the city, we chose this hotel for its convenience. Despite many inbound tourists causing potential delays at check-in, efficient staff management ensured smooth entry without long waits. The public bath was well-maintained with attentive staff ensuring high standards in both the bathing area and relaxation spaces. While we trust that it is indeed an onsen, even the cold bath had a properly chilled temperature (the sauna was set at a moderate 95°C). Although there are peak times when it gets crowded, you can check congestion levels on TV screens to plan your visit accordingly (the room's private bathroom is also quite spacious despite not being used much). Breakfast was impressive with live cooking stations offering dishes like beef tongue and seafood bowls. Even small details like having both espresso machines and drip coffee servers to avoid bottlenecks were thoughtfully arranged—an unexpected but pleasant surprise. While there are always higher-end options available, for this price range with a last-minute reservation during a family trip with children, it was an excellent stay. One minor note: I felt a faint smell of tobacco in the room (I am very sensitive), but it dissipated quickly and wasn’t bothersome after that moment. Additionally, amenities like lotion were not provided in the room but were available in the public bath area.

    Are there any amenities?

    I stayed at the accommodation during a business trip. The room was equipped with all the essentials, so I had no inconvenience. However, I couldn't find amenities like aftershave lotion or toner. Would it be possible to request these at the front desk? Personally, I think having a dedicated cream for shaving would be helpful (using hand soap foam tends to irritate my skin...). I plan to stay next time with my spouse, and I'm concerned about whether there will be makeup remover and lotion available for women.

    We stayed at Hotel Monterey Sendai with three generations—grandmother, daughter, and grandchild—and had an absolutely wonderful experience. The high level of host performance made it a hotel that all generations could truly enjoy. Relaxing Time at the Natural Onsen on the Top Floor The highlight was definitely the natural onsen located on the top floor! The exclusive spa for guests offered spacious baths to relieve travel fatigue, along with complimentary beer service for a luxurious time. Additionally, there was a free ice cream service where you could choose your favorite flavor—a perfect treat after bathing. The water temperature was just right, making both grandmother and grandchild very happy. Enjoying the onsen while overlooking Sendai's scenery was pure bliss. Delicious Breakfast Options: Japanese Set Meal & Buffet Breakfast offered two delightful options: a Japanese set meal or a Japanese-Western buffet. The Japanese set meal featured dishes beautifully arranged using local Miyagi ingredients with an elegant taste. On the other hand, the buffet had a wide variety of choices; freshly baked bread and fresh fruits were particularly delicious—everything we tried was satisfying! Grandmother who loves Japanese food and our grandchild who enjoys choosing their favorites were both delighted by breakfast. Thoughtful Service That Feels Just Right One of this hotel's charms is its attentive hospitality from staff members. Check-in went smoothly, and they thoughtfully accommodated our request for rooms suitable for three generations staying together. The room's classical atmosphere provided a calm space to relax in comfort. Their meticulous attention to detail made us repeatedly think, "We're so glad we chose this place!" What We Wish We Knew Beforehand One thing we wished we'd known earlier is that ANA cardholders can earn points here! If we'd known about this beforehand, it would have felt even more rewarding to stay here next time—we'll be sure not to miss out! Summary: A Hotel Worth Visiting Again From its onsen to meals and services—everything exceeded expectations—it’s perfect for trips involving multiple generations.     Enjoyed the Onsen, lounge, breakfast, and business trip.

    During my business trip to Sendai after a long time, I was torn between this accommodation and another hotel directly connected to the station, but I chose this one because it has an onsen. After enjoying the bath, I had ice cream and drinks, which were delightful. Some guests seemed happy enjoying beer as well. The lounge is only available in the afternoon and not in the morning, but that wasn’t an issue for me. While the facility isn’t brand new overall, it was very clean. The 14th floor where I stayed was exclusively for women, providing a sense of security. At breakfast buffet, there was even a corner where they grilled beef tongue for you—it was excellent. Overall, I felt thoughtful hospitality from the hotel staff and would love to stay here again.

    This time, I visited to relax during the bathroom renovation. As a result, I was able to relax. The Room was cute, and I enjoyed delicious food and drinks in Sendai City. The spacious bath and sauna were soothing. Amazingly, I went in three times. The staff members were all unpretentious and provided heartfelt hospitality. Thank you very much.

    The Hotel was very nice.

    Overall, it was very nice. Because almost everything was so wonderful, the standout issue that made me wonder "why?" was the wall clock in the Room. Was it meant to be retro??? I thought so, but probably not, right? It was very disappointing to see a dirty clock with rusty decorations hanging on the wall.

    Recommended by the host for stays The location was great, and the clean and friendly service made for a relaxing stay. Checked in and headed straight to the large public bath. From the lounge, I gazed at the distant Pacific Ocean, feeling so comfortable that I took a nap. I was able to fully enjoy Sendai with its dancing snow. Monterey in Sendai was sophisticated. The large public bath and lounge at night were bustling with many people from Asia, so I left early. It's inevitable with inbound tourism, but it's challenging. Thank you for your hospitality.

    The classical atmosphere is wonderful.

    I stayed for one night on January 3rd. Having previously stayed at the Monterey in Okinawa, I had some expectations, and this place also had a very classical atmosphere throughout the premises, which was lovely. The beef tongue at breakfast was about 1cm thick, very tender, and delicious. I had originally planned to visit a beef tongue restaurant, but this was satisfying enough. I didn't use the large bath on the top floor due to the New Year's crowd, but I did enjoy the post-bath lounge. The complimentary drinks, snacks, and ice cream were a high-satisfaction service. The lounge had a relaxing atmosphere with reclining sofas, which was quite nice. Being close to the station, I was able to enjoy sightseeing and shopping, making it a very pleasant trip.
