    For breakfast lovers

    Niigata is full of delicious food, so I decided to stay for the breakfast. The room offered a view of the Shinano River and Bandai Bridge. Although the building is old, there were no issues with water pressure or temperature in the bathroom, which was great. From the breakfast venue's windows, you can see the Shinano River and cherry blossoms, making it likely to offer beautiful views in spring. As for breakfast itself, there was a wide variety of dishes featuring local cuisine and locally sourced ingredients, which was very satisfying. Okura’s signature French toast was also available at breakfast—a big plus! Unlimited Yasuda Yogurt made for an excellent morning meal as well.

    Conveniently located as a base.

    I used it as a base for sightseeing, and the convenience was decent. Considering the price, I was satisfied.

    The view of Bandai B...

    The view of Bandai Bridge from the room was stunning and truly soothing. The quality of breakfast was excellent (especially the omelet), and I would love to stay at Okura again if I visit Niigata.

    The staff's hospitality is excellent. I was very pleased with their courteous service. It was a Hotel I would love to stay at again.

    Solo stay for business

    The Facility and equipment may show their age, but everything was impeccably clean, allowing for a comfortable stay. The breakfast was absolutely delicious, with the freshly made omelet being a standout. The cakes in the lounge were also delightful. For a late-night meal, we enjoyed local cuisine in Yahiko. It was a relaxing and luxurious experience overall. The location is excellent, and staying at Okura proved to be an outstanding choice.

    The meals were disappointing.

    I made the Reservation thinking that it's Okura, so the price would be worth it. The Room showed some signs of age, but the Facility and amenities were well-prepared and comfortable. The disappointing part was the breakfast rice, Uonuma Koshihikari. I had high expectations, but it was disappointing as soon as I tasted it—it felt like seaweed. The staff were very polite and pleasant, so I hope something can be done about the rice.

    Long-awaited Accommodation Stay

    It was my first stay in 7-8 years, and I had a comfortable experience. Choosing a room overlooking the Shinano River was the right decision.

    As expected from a long-established establishment.

    The calm and refined service, distinct from a typical Business Hotel, truly reflects the charm of a long-established establishment. This time, I had business at the Prefectural Hall, so despite being a bit farther from the station, I made a Reservation here. All the staff were exceptionally pleasant. The breakfast was also incredibly delicious. While the building is slightly old, it is impeccably clean. I was thrilled to stay at Hotel Okura for this price!

    Stay after the concert

    I chose this hotel because it was within walking distance after the concert. It brought back memories of dining and drinking at Stardust in my younger days. The room was clean and very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious, as expected from Niigata, known for its great food! I travel to many places, but I truly think Niigata's food and onsen are exceptional.

    It was a relaxing Hotel.

    I traveled to Niigata for work. There are hotels like APA Hotel and East Japan group hotels near Niigata Station, but as a woman traveling alone, I chose Okura for peace of mind. It had a calm and gentle atmosphere where I could relax. The persimmon fruit at breakfast was delicious, and there were so many side dishes for rice that I ended up eating too much. I would like to stay here again if I visit Niigata in the future.

    The room was old-fashioned.

    The meals and service were good, but the Room felt outdated. For this class, the bath and toilet are usually separate, but here it was a unit bath.

    About the Rooms

    Stayed for 2 nights. While the overall age of the facility is acceptable, I couldn't help but wonder about the cleaning around the bathroom tiles, especially on the lower parts visible when soaking in the bathtub. Even in regular households, cleaning standards have improved with better detergents and tools. I was also surprised by the dust collected in the corners of the plastic tray holding the TV remote. A simple rinse with water could easily clean it. Stayed on a Saturday at nearly double Friday's rate, but was disappointed by what seemed like insufficient cleaning that could be resolved with professional attention.

    A Reliable Hotel

    I stayed here the night before traveling to Sado Island. The Hotel staff provided truly first-class service. Every meal was delicious, and I felt comfortable staying here. However, it takes a long time to fill the bath with hot water, which is a drawback. I was also bothered by noise from the neighboring Room, but otherwise my stay was comfortable.

    A long-established, trusted favorite

    The consistently attentive service and calm atmosphere you would expect from a long-established Hotel were truly comfortable. The building itself is not new, but it is so carefully maintained that it never feels dated; instead, it was a wonderful space where you can appreciate its long history and the years behind it. At the breakfast buffet, I thoroughly enjoyed Niigata’s delicious local rice and was very satisfied. The staff were warm and sincere in every interaction, leaving me with the impression of a Hotel you can’t help but want to support. When I visit Niigata again, I would definitely like to stay here.

    I stayed here for the first time.

    I checked in after attending a winery event, arriving at Niigata Station around 8:00 PM. The staff were all very kind, and although my stay was short, it was extremely comfortable. The building opened in 1978, so it does feel a bit dated, but it is well maintained and clean, which made it very pleasant to stay in. If the property is ever rebuilt in the future, I truly hope it will continue at this location as Hotel Okura Niigata.

    What is the pride of a long-established Hotel in the diversifying hotel industry?

    As full-spec business hotels increase to meet the diversifying needs of customers, it may be time for traditional accommodations in Niigata, previously untouched by competition, to reconsider their approach, including room facilities. The slightly larger single room had a cold toilet seat, and the bathtub was slippery enough to require cleaning with body soap before use. Modern hair care products tend to adhere to bathtubs due to their ingredients and cannot be removed easily with just a shower rinse. Meanwhile, surrounding accommodations are upgrading their facilities for a more luxurious feel and raising prices accordingly. It is no longer an era where staying at an accommodation below the company's travel expense allowance leaves extra money for dining or entertainment.

    Hotel with a view of the Shinano River.

    I visited for the first time in 11 years to see the Brass Band Competition National Tournament. From the window, you can see the spacious Shinano River flowing quietly, making it a Hotel where you can truly relax. While many recent Hotels use tank-style dispensers for shampoo and such, this Hotel had adorable cases lined up as shown in the photos. The omelet at breakfast was carefully prepared, which made me happy. It’s within walking distance to the station. I would love to stay here again if I have another opportunity!

    The location was excellent.

    I stayed one night in the city and one night at an Onsen, and I’m glad I chose this Hotel near Bandai Bridge. The view from the Room was so beautiful that I looked at it multiple times—after check-in, at night, and in the morning. Media Ship and Bandai City are within walking distance, so I went out in the evening and walked across Bandai Bridge. For breakfast, I enjoyed a Japanese-style lineup that I don’t usually choose, tried different types of rice for comparison, and had my favorite Yasuda Yogurt. Unfortunately, I was too full to try the freshly made omelet prepared right in front of me. Although it was a double Room for single use, towels and water were provided for two people, which was very thoughtful. The only downside was that the bathroom included the toilet; however, considering this is a 47-year-old Hotel with proper maintenance, it felt comfortable without any issues despite its age. I was informed that heating/cooling is centrally controlled by the Hotel rather than individually adjustable per Room; however, this wasn’t an issue for me at all.

    We stayed in Niigata...

    We stayed in Niigata on our way to Sado Island, as our child wanted to visit there. Niigata is a place known for its delicious seafood. The Facility was slightly aged, but the service was excellent. We stayed in a suite room and particularly enjoyed the showerhead.

    I stayed at your hotel as my favorite artist's live concert was held at the Prefectural Hall. I checked in earlier than planned, but when I returned from the concert and changed into a gown, I noticed a large stain on the bed sheets. After contacting the staff, I was moved to another room on the same floor. However, moving in my gown was a bit embarrassing. For breakfast, I went to the restaurant at 8 AM, but there were many people waiting and it took quite some time to be seated. The food was delicious though—I ate so much that my stomach felt like it would burst! I would love to stay again if given another opportunity.

    Breakfast is minimal.

    Being in Niigata, I was expecting seafood, but apart from grilled fish and salted squid, there was nothing else, making the breakfast feel quite lacking. The Facility also felt old.

    Thoughtful attention to detail

    For this stay, I requested a Sharp air purifier. Since the front desk didn’t mention anything, I assumed it might have been a difficult request and gave up—but to my surprise, it was already set up in the Room as if it were standard. I’m truly impressed by such thoughtful attention to detail. Thank you very much. Breakfast was also excellent, and I really enjoyed the best of Niigata-made flavors. This is a Hotel I would love to stay at again.

    This was my second visit.

    I returned for another stay as I was satisfied with my previous visit. The check-in process was smooth this time, as there was no need to fill out detailed personal information again. However, since I checked in late at night, I missed out on amenities like the Sekkisei skincare products, drip coffee, and tea bags that were provided during my last stay, which left me feeling a bit disappointed. Upon asking during checkout, I learned that these can be provided upon request next time. The consistently excellent service and the riverside breakfast venue make staying at Okura in this price range truly appreciated.

    The Uonuma Koshihikari rice served at breakfast was exceptional. There were a variety of side dishes to accompany the rice, and I ended up having three servings. Highly recommended! I will definitely stay here again on my next business trip to Niigata.

    Exceptional service as expected from Okura. Great value for money.

    I decided to stay here while looking for accommodation for my regular business trips to Niigata. It's amazing to stay at Okura with breakfast included for under 10,000 yen per night on a business trip. I was impressed by the excellent service, receiving skincare samples from Sekkisei, drip coffee, and non-alcoholic beer at the front desk. If possible, it would be great if the address could be transferred from the reservation information during check-in to make future stays more convenient. Looking forward to staying again!

    Delicious breakfast

    The staff's service ...

    The staff's service was excellent. Although I mistakenly made a reservation for a smoking room and had given up, they kindly changed it to a non-smoking room. The breakfast buffet offered many Niigata specialties, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
