    The bathroom is clean.

    The large public bath was very spacious, clean, and comfortable! The hair dryers provided included ReFa, Dyson, and Panasonic models, making it enjoyable to use. Plenty of body towels were available in both the changing room and the bathroom, which was very convenient. The Room was also clean, with a tiled shower room that felt like an overseas Hotel. However, it was disappointing that the toilet in the Room had an odor and the wallpaper and flooring showed signs of aging. The staff provided excellent service, and I would love to stay here again.

    Shirasu-kan: A Legacy Preserved

    This trip was a memorable one for our group of five, including my in-laws, wife, daughter, and myself, as we stayed at the accommodation. First, the staff kindly guided us to our room. Upon entering, we were immediately captivated by the stunning view of Kinko Bay and the beautiful garden. My in-laws loved the room, and my wife couldn’t stop taking photos. Thank you to the staff for your courteous assistance. My in-laws mentioned that they had stayed here back in 1964 and enjoyed reminiscing while looking at old photos displayed in the gallery. Both dinner and breakfast were served in a spacious area and were absolutely delicious—we ended up eating too much! Special thanks to the serving staff for their thoughtful service. We also strolled through the garden; it was impeccably maintained with no litter at all—clearly a lot of effort goes into its upkeep. At the souvenir shop, we sampled some limited-edition Rikyuu Karukan treats and ended up buying quite a lot because they were so tasty! The hospitality from all staff members during our stay felt like it carried on traditions passed down from Mr. Hiroshi Shimotakehara himself. We also thoroughly enjoyed visiting Satsuma Denshokan Museum, Mt. Kaimon (Kaimondake), Ryugu Shrine, JR Nishi-Oyama Station—all exceeded expectations! All five of us had an amazing time on this trip. My daughter especially was thrilled as she managed to complete her Pokémon manhole hunt by finding all nine locations! As her companion on this quest though—I must admit I got a bit tired! We would love to stay here again someday. Lastly, thank you once again to all staff members for making our stay so comfortable!

    Sand Bath Experience

    The Room, meals, and service were excellent. The food was delicious and plentiful. I had a great experience trying the sand bath for the first time, which became a wonderful memory. I would love to visit again.

    It became a wonderful memory.

    I stayed here to celebrate my 60th birthday and retirement. Last time I visited in May last year, it was pouring rain, and I couldn't fully enjoy the outdoor Onsen, so this visit was also a bit of a "revenge trip." However, it rained heavily again. Feeling disappointed upon arrival, I was surprised and touched by the unexpected thoughtfulness and surprises prepared for me—it left me both amazed and a little embarrassed. It was truly moving. The Room had its own private natural Onsen bath, which was absolutely wonderful. Dinner at the Italian restaurant featured delicious Western cuisine that I don't usually get to enjoy, along with a surprise photo session that became a great memory. This has been my best experience so far. I would love to stay again in a Room with an Onsen!

    Very satisfied.

    I found this hotel while searching for accommodation within my budget as my travel date approached. I decided on it because it included dinner and breakfast, as well as access to the sand bath Onsen. The room had a Hinoki wood Onsen bath with a stunning view of Sakurajima right in front—absolutely amazing. The sand bath experience was also great for a first-timer. For dinner, the seating was arranged to ensure privacy, and the portions were so generous that I couldn't finish without asking for less rice. Breakfast was so luxurious that I struggled to decide what to eat first during my trip—and ended up going back for seconds! It was an accommodation where everything exceeded expectations. The only downside was the limited number of power outlets. Since we stayed in a Japanese-style room, we couldn’t charge three smartphones near our futons and had to use the outlet by the sink instead.

    I have used this accommodation several times in the past. The service and facilities are very comfortable, and this time the mattress was Nishikawa's Air, which made it even more pleasant. The room was also excellent and clean. However, the breakfast was disappointing. When I went to the breakfast venue, there were a large number of people... While I understand that some crowding is inevitable with a buffet style, the unclear flow of people and overlapping lines significantly diminished my motivation to get food. I believe the layout needs improvement. Additionally, regarding breakfast quality, it felt comparable to that of a business hotel... I would have appreciated an option for in-room dining even at an additional cost. Since I traveled all the way to Ibusuki, it was unfortunate that there weren't many local specialties available...

    Beautiful but too large to be convenient.

    Stayed in a Japanese-Western Room at Satsuma Palace with my elderly mother. The flat layout of the Room made it wheelchair-friendly, but the toilet was located near the entrance and far from the bed, which was inconvenient for my mother who needed frequent access. The toilet itself was compact and decent, but the position of the paper holder made it hard to reach for petite elderly individuals. The large public bath was excellent but too far away, so we only used it once during our stay due to the time required to get there from our Room. The indoor bath in the main building could only be accessed via stairs, making it inaccessible for my wheelchair-using mother, which was disappointing. The meals were delicious and plentiful—finishing everything was quite a challenge! The garden and ocean views were stunning as well. However, the size of the property meant that moving around took too much time, which was its only drawback.

    A First-Time Experience

    My first visit to Ibusuki was wonderful, and I thoroughly enjoyed the sand steam bath. The onsen was spacious and very relaxing. The meals were a bit too much for me as a woman, but the black pork shabu-shabu and other dishes were delicious. One disappointment was that there was no explanation about dinner or breakfast during check-in; we had to ask ourselves. Since it’s a large ryokan with many guests checking in, the process felt somewhat mechanical. However, aside from that, both the bath and meals were excellent. I’m glad I got to stay at such a popular accommodation!

    The meals were Kurob...

    The meals were Kurobuta Kaiseki, but they were not particularly exceptional and seemed to match the price. Breakfast was quite ordinary, and it did not appeal to my 18-year-old son and 20-year-old daughter. Both for dinner and breakfast, we felt that a buffet would have been a better option given the content of the meals.

    Excellent

    I had always wanted to visit Ibusuki, and my wish finally came true. The main purpose was the sand bath, which was amazing. I was surprised by the spaciousness of the Onsen, and the Room was also large, comfortable, and offered a fantastic view. It was too cold to explore the garden, but it was well-maintained and beautiful with lovely lighting at night. Choosing this Accommodation turned out to be an excellent decision.

    We stayed at the acc...

    We stayed at the accommodation for a trip with our 6th-grade grandchild and grandparents. We were surprised by the automatic door at the room entrance. The spacious room, along with the wide garden and ocean view from the room, was impressive. Seeing our grandchild so happy made us delighted as well. We enjoyed the much-anticipated sand bath, though our grandchild exclaimed it was so hot they thought they might get burned! The staff kindly took photos for us too. We also used the large bath three times and were very satisfied. We created wonderful memories at this amazing hotel. Thank you very much!

    First Trip to Kagoshima

    This was my first time in Kagoshima, and I chose this accommodation from various options. The food was delicious, especially the seafood. I also enjoyed plenty of shochu, even though I don't usually drink it. In the morning, I was able to see a beautiful sunrise, which made my stay very satisfying. I used the sand bath twice. However, there was one thing that bothered me—the check-in process. It was during the New Year season and quite crowded with many group guests as well. The female staff member who initially assisted me had a very formal and somewhat high-handed attitude, which felt cold and disappointing. Fortunately, a male staff member nearby took over quickly and handled everything smoothly afterward. Looking back now, perhaps my repeated questions amidst their busy schedule might have upset her... I hope to visit again if given another opportunity!

    There are some issues with the dining area.

    It was a Beef Shabu-shabu Plan. Both the beef and rice were very delicious. However, dishes with broth, from appetizers to miso soup, felt bland in flavor. At the dining area, despite arriving on time, we were made to wait outside as if they couldn't manage guest arrangements. The serving staff seemed brusque and often gave excuses before explanations, which was disappointing. While they might be in training, their approach raises questions about the direction of their guidance. The black-suited staff who visited during our meal once and those who greeted us at the entrance, along with the front desk lady and cleaning staff—all were friendly and left a good impression with their hospitality. Since there are various dining options within the facility, it might be better to choose one of those or opt for a No Meals Included plan instead. The accommodation had great views and an elegant atmosphere shared with its adjacent cultural museum; however, it left an inconsistent impression overall despite its luxurious feel.

    If you want to enjoy a sand bath, this Property is for you.

    I stayed at the famous Shiroyama-kan in Ibusuki Onsen. There is a sand bath inside the property, so you can enjoy it without having to go all the way to the Sand Bath Hall. Since my mother was with me, we stayed at Rikyuu, which is closest to the bath, but even then it feels far ( ; ; ) The property is so large that it takes about 10 minutes to move between baths and meals. Also, there are many stairs inside the bath area, making it unsuitable for elderly or those with mobility issues. The meals were excellent in both quality and quantity; there was so much food that we couldn't finish everything. Perhaps young men might be able to eat it all though. I had requested no raw fish due to my preference and their response was perfect. There are no other properties that accommodate this well. The service during meals was also very well-trained. It had been a while since I stayed at such a large property, but I was impressed by how attentive the meal service was. Despite its age, it's well-maintained; however, it's not built for an era of barrier-free access which is unfortunate. The luxurious design is wonderful and if you visit Ibusuki (Ibusuki), it's worth staying here at least once.

    The food was very delicious.

    Since we had a Multiple Night Stay, on the first day we enjoyed Italian cuisine, and on the second day, beef shabu kaiseki. Both were delicious and plentiful, so we couldn't go out for a late-night snack. The Room was spacious with a calming atmosphere overlooking the sea, allowing us to fully enjoy a relaxing trip. It was my first time experiencing sand bathing, but it was convenient to try it within the facility. The Onsen was satisfying both indoors and outdoors; I would love to use it again.

    I used the Rikyū.

    When I informed them in advance about my son's birthday, they prepared a dessert with a "Happy Birthday" message for dinner, which was a very warm gesture and made me happy. The Room at Rikyuu was also very spacious, and I was extremely satisfied. However, the entrance to the Room had an automatic door, which had its pros and cons. The neighboring Room was occupied by a family with several small children who repeatedly opened our automatic door by mistake. Since it was Room 1, the living room could be seen clearly from the entrance, which was slightly disappointing in that regard. Well, it's understandable since they were small children. Other than that, the large public bath was extremely spacious and the sand bath became a good memory as well.

    The scenery and dinn...

    The scenery and dinner were very good. The Onsen was especially wonderful, and I also enjoyed the sand bath. The heating in the room was a bit too strong, and it was hot even after turning it off.

    Visit After a Long Time

    It has been quite a while since I stayed at Stays Hakusuikan, but I visited looking forward to the sand-steamed onsen. I enjoyed the Genroku Bath, sand-steamed onsen, and the bar at the Densho-kan, but the meal times felt a bit rushed... Rather than eating at a relaxed pace, it felt like the dishes kept coming out and I had to eat quickly, which was a bit disappointing. I fully understand there are unavoidable aspects, but the next dish was served before I finished the previous one... That was a bit disappointing. However, the sand-steamed onsen was great.

    Only one

    I was satisfied with the Room, bath, and meals, but I chose Hakusuikan because it was said to have an electric vehicle charging port. However, the setup for registration and guidance to the port was complicated, and I couldn't charge my vehicle in the end. When I spoke to the guide, they replied that it was because they had updated the model. The next day, I went straight home without making any detours.

    The bath is excellent.

    I was quite surprised to see many elderly people on the shuttle bus. Therefore, I predicted that dinner would be crowded around 6 PM. I was spot on, as both the sand bath and the large bath were almost exclusively for us. Breakfast was quite crowded, but it was within expectations. We intentionally skipped dinner and went to a ramen shop. It was surprisingly delicious and we had the place to ourselves. Staying on a Sunday seems to be a good idea. Overall, I am satisfied.

    Ibusuki Hakusuikan(Ibusuki Hakusuikan)

    To be honest, almost everything was disappointing. The level and atmosphere of the dinner were terrible, and frankly, it wasn't tasty. The breakfast atmosphere and crowd were worse than a school trip, and even a Showa-era Business Hotel would be better. It's unbelievable that it costs 70,000 yen for two people. There is a clean building dedicated to the Osho Tournament, but the other Facilities are really terrible. The service was provided by foreigners or young staff with low service levels, and it is not a luxury Ryokan. I never want to stay at this Property again.

    The location, atmosphere, staff's hospitality, and attention to detail were all excellent. There was a trouble, but the arrangements and words of support from the staff who stood by us were very helpful. Even the staff at the shop were very friendly, which really put us at ease. We would definitely like to use this property again.

    My mother said she wanted to experience a sand bath, so we stayed here to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary. It was my first time experiencing a sand bath as well, and it was very pleasant, unlike a sauna. The pathway that allows you to go directly to the onsen after brushing off the sand was very convenient. All the meals were delicious, and there was so much food that we couldn't finish it all, which made my parents very happy and it turned out to be a wonderful trip.

    Since it was a spacious Japanese-Western style room, we used the detached room. I mistakenly thought the room's bath was an Onsen, but it was not, which was disappointing. Everything else was excellent.

    Moved by the breathtaking sunrise view! Healed by the sand bath Onsen and the hospitality of the Hotel staff. Enjoyed the delicious meals. Will come again.

    My first time in Kagoshima!

    The bath was the largest in scale I've ever seen among the various hotels and inns I've visited so far!! The Edo Pomegranate Bath was less taxing on the body than a sauna or steam sauna and personally had a beneficial effect! The children's dinner was very luxurious! I will visit again!

    The sand steam bath was amazing.

    It was my first experience with a sand bath, and it warmed me to the core and made me sweat more quickly than I expected. After the sand bath, I went straight to the large public bath, where there were various types of hot springs, and I was able to relax. I learned that I had packed my schedule too tightly, leading to an early departure the next morning, and I wished I had taken it slower. I would like to visit again and take it easy next time.
