    Touring Day 2

    First time at Lake Biwa! The most prominent Hotel in Otsu! No public bath available. I didn't have any meals, so I can't evaluate that, but the Room's spaciousness, atmosphere, and amenities were excellent. Above all, the main reason to stay at this Hotel is its location. I recommend staying on the upper floors.

    Cleanliness, great views, and excellent value for money.

    The most striking and stylish building by Lake Biwa, visiting here had been a long-time dream. The Room was clean, functional, and the service was excellent. They kindly accommodated requests like a humidifier, which helped me stay in good health and enjoy sightseeing in Kyoto. One point of improvement would be to have staff guide guests during the crowded dinner reception to avoid confusion about the end of the line. Overall, it turned out to be an amazing mother-daughter trip enjoying beautiful Lake Biwa and Kyoto. Thank you so much!

    Service could be improved.

    The shower and Refa hairdryer were excellent. Breakfast had a wide variety and was very satisfying. However, the bed mattress was firm and uncomfortable to sleep on. At checkout, I inquired at the front desk about not being able to log into the Prince app. I wanted to use my points during my stay as they might expire, but this was not possible either. The staff responded curtly by handing me a pamphlet and telling me to call the number listed if I had further questions. It's disappointing as I liked Otsu Prince Hotel, but I may not return next time.

    A wonderful Hotel.

    It was an attractive accommodation in a great location as a hotel. Considering there are many elderly guests, we would appreciate it if you could consider offering sashimi. Personally, I would be happy if Japanese sake could be provided at a more affordable price.

    The view is spectacular.

    The best view around Lake Biwa. Well-maintained walking paths provide a wonderful environment. The breakfast restaurant offered excellent food and service.

    Highly Satisfied

    We were told we had been upgraded, and to our surprise, it was a Suite Room! It was my first time staying in such a spacious room, and I was extremely satisfied. A larger room really makes a difference. However, one of the bedside reading lights didn’t work—was it broken? I didn’t use it, so it wasn’t an issue for me, but I wondered if this was an oversight during the check or if I simply used it incorrectly. Later on, I heard from an acquaintance that the food is delicious as well, so next time I’d like to try dining there too.

    Expect a variety of beverages in the Room.

    I had a wonderful and extraordinary trip with my mother. The view from the Room was great, and my mother was very pleased. One suggestion: In the Room, only coffee drip bags were provided. After arriving, after dinner, and after our morning walk, we wanted something warm to drink in the Room. However, neither of us drinks coffee. It would be nice to have another option like green tea, roasted green tea, or black tea available. After breakfast, there was coffee with paper cups for takeout near the elevator hall. If only there had been some tea bags available as well, we could have enjoyed them using the kettle in our Room. I also visited the souvenir shop on the first floor for my mother but found only various stick-type or cup-style instant drinks that require hot water—no tea bags were available for purchase either.

    The view was breathtaking.

    Despite a late check-in, the staff provided courteous assistance with carrying our luggage. The view from the high floor was stunning. I will definitely stay here again.

    Appreciation for the staff's hospitality

    At check-in, I entered the room without receiving Diamond Member benefits, but upon checking my reservation, I noticed the benefits were included. When I inquired at the front desk, they provided a detailed explanation and apology, along with extended check-out time, drink service, and a room upgrade. This made my stay very pleasant. The meals were delicious, and the desserts were especially delightful.

    Bathroom

    The bathroom floor and chair were very slippery, making it dangerous as I almost slipped several times. Thankfully, no serious accidents occurred. However, I worry that it could lead to a major incident in the future.

    A solo celebration for a 60th birthday and your eldest daughter's wedding.

    For nearly 15 years starting 30 years ago, my family and relatives frequently stayed at Prince Hotel. Otsu Prince Hotel was our summer vacation tradition, where we enjoyed the pool, tennis, and cycling. Now that I’ve reached my 60th birthday, I would be delighted to visit again with my grandchildren. The meals were also delicious.

    I had a relaxing stay.

    The room was spacious, and I was impressed by the breathtaking view of Lake Biwa through the large windows when I opened the curtains. The elevators are divided into right and left for high floors, so there wasn't much waiting time. On the first floor, there is a souvenir shop and a convenience store, which was helpful as they also had daily necessities. Ice is not free, so you need to purchase it. Breakfast is served on a high floor. For dinner, I tried calling for a same-day reservation but it was fully booked. The hotel was very lively, possibly due to some events taking place. The front desk staff provided polite service. In front of the hotel, there are electric rental bicycles available with pre-payment; although I found them slightly confusing at first, I quickly got used to them after using them once. You can walk to the newly opened LAGO or take a stroll around Lake Biwa's surroundings. Zesho is also nearby. I wanted to visit Naruse's pilgrimage site "Seize the World," and managed to visit most of it during my stay. Next time, I'd like to go on the Michigan Cruise! Gichu-ji Temple is also close by; since it was closed on Monday during my visit this time, I'll plan for next time. I also cycled to Omi Shrine and visited Miidera Temple as well as Ukimido Hall. Thank you for allowing me such a relaxing holiday!

    Relaxing Stay

    Check-in: 2:00 PM Check-out: 11:00 AM This was the longest service we've experienced so far. Traveling with my wheelchair-bound mother and one-year-old grandchild, we were able to move at a relaxed pace, which was wonderful. However, at the entrance, when I needed assistance from the bellboy to help my mother out of our car and into a borrowed wheelchair over a step, despite no other guests being around, he seemed indifferent. Even after calling out loudly for help, his response lacked a smile and felt awkward. As someone who used to work as a bellgirl myself, I found this level of service surprising for such an important role representing the hotel’s entrance. I hope there can be some improvement in this area! That said, everyone else provided excellent service overall. Thank you very much! Looking forward to staying again!

    Wonderful stay

    I stayed for work and was upgraded to a better Room as a special perk, making both the view and the Room amazing and comfortable. The meals were delicious, and I wished I could have stayed longer. Thank you very much!

    Setting up the parking app on the smartphone was troublesome. Since I needed to enter and exit several times during my Multiple Night Stay, I had no choice but to follow the instructions as told. Could there be a simpler and more user-friendly approach instead of imposing such a complicated process?

    The view is spectacular.

    I had reserved a Lake Floor room but was upgraded to the EIZAN Floor. The view of Lake Biwa from the window was spectacular. The showerhead and hairdryer in the bathroom were Re Fa, and the bed was Simmons. It made for a very comfortable stay. Breakfast was a buffet on the 38th floor at Top of Otsu. I enjoyed plenty of simmered Omi beef over rice—it was delicious. I would love to stay here again!

    We were unexpectedly...

    We were unexpectedly upgraded to a truly lovely double room on the EIZAN floor. We enjoyed a relaxing time reading by the window-side sofa while gazing at Lake Biwa. Both dinner and lunch at the hotel's restaurant were absolutely satisfying. This has become an accommodation we would love to stay at again for a leisurely visit.

    An elderly couple's dream came true. We were able to relax and be soothed by the beautiful scenery. Thank you very much. If I may ask, it would have been even better if we could have stayed on a higher floor.

    The view from the Room is amazing!

    I stayed for a family birthday. A single flower and a birthday card were placed in the Room, which made me very happy. I think this is a Hotel with excellent staff hospitality. I would love to stay again. Thank you very much.

    This was my second s...

    This was my second stay following April, and although it was No Meals Included this time, I was extremely satisfied. The restaurant exclusive to guests offered delicious food that I couldn't even finish. The Room was spacious, and I used the shuttle bus service; the driver's exceptional explanations exceeded my expectations and allowed me to experience the wonderful hospitality of Shiga. I would love to stay again!

    The room is spacious...

    The room is spacious with a sofa and offers a nice view of Lake Biwa. The ReFa hair dryer and shower head were appreciated, but the separate bath and toilet had an unpleasant smell, possibly due to age. I initially booked a twin room for one person, but later called to change the reservation as my daughter decided to stay with her infant. I also requested a baby crib during the call, but upon check-in, it was not prepared. Although it was set up promptly after we mentioned it again... At check-out, I asked for assistance in moving our suitcase since we had an infant with us. However, even after waiting about 20 minutes, no one came to help. Assuming they were busy, we moved it ourselves only to find the front desk empty with several staff members standing by. There seemed to be repeated communication issues among staff members; even relatives staying in another room experienced various mistakes. It was surprising as this was the first hotel where requests were not properly communicated—perhaps due to having many part-time staff?

    Top-notch hospitality

    The staff, both the man and woman who assisted during check-in, were kind and made me happy. Despite its age, the Hotel itself is clean and nice. I also like the café. The breakfast with a view of Lake Biwa from a high floor was stunningly beautiful and delicious. I would love to stay here again.

    The meals are delicious.

    Originally booked for a barbecue Plan, but due to rain, we received a phone call informing us of a change to Chinese, Japanese cuisine, or buffet options. Since we were with children and there would be a price difference between the barbecue and the other options like Japanese or Chinese cuisine, the restaurant staff suggested using the difference for alcohol or similar items. We then requested to switch to the buffet. However, upon arriving at the buffet, our previous discussion had not been communicated at all. We had to explain everything again and although they adjusted by offering an all-you-can-drink option (around 4000 yen) and additional dishes instead of covering the full price difference of about 7000 yen, their attitude made it feel as though they were accommodating us as part of some complaint resolution process. This left us feeling uncomfortable. The food quality was good—what you’d expect from Hotel standards—but overall service felt more like that of a Business Hotel. Considering this experience and despite understanding seasonal challenges, I don’t think I’ll choose Prince again at this price point.
