    I had a comfortable stay.

    I have stayed here many times in the past with a group of colleagues. It had been quite a while, so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the Hotel was well maintained and quiet, with a wonderful view of magnificent Lake Biwa from the window. The staff were pleasant and truly first-class. Everything was thoroughly cleaned, and I had a very comfortable stay. There are also shops and restaurants within walking distance, which was very convenient. When we were leaving, they opened the car door for my wife at the drop-off area and then saw us off politely, which left a lasting impression on me.

    Hospitality Without a Smile

    This stay was a major disappointment. The staff member at check-in explained everything with a smile. However, the other staff were expressionless, almost like wearing Noh masks. The staff at the dining reception explained things with a smile, but the staff replacing dishes and replenishing tableware were expressionless. The food was cold and not tasty. This was the worst part of this trip. I would like a warm greeting like you get at basic Hotels in town. From next time on, I will avoid Prince Hotels.

    My second stay was a bit disappointing.

    I stayed here with friends at the end of last year and had a wonderful time, so this time I visited again with my family. It’s a spacious, glamorous Hotel where you can truly relax, but this time I was disappointed with the staff. First, due to a communication error regarding my Diamond membership status, I received no benefits at all. This was the first time I’ve ever experienced that. When I asked about it at checkout, they hurriedly looked into it and simply said they were sorry. Second, the attitude of the staff at the souvenir shop was very poor. I purchased souvenirs totaling a considerable amount, including pottery, but they seemed bothered by everything and remained visibly irritated throughout. I never made any unreasonable requests; honestly, it made me feel like saying that if they dislike their job that much, they should quit. All we want is to leave in a good mood—please treat guests properly. As someone who searches for wonderful Hotels on IKYU and enjoys traveling comfortably, this visit was truly disappointing.

    Prince brand

    Everything was very clean, and we had a comfortable stay. The Facility is undeniably old, but the thorough housekeeping more than made up for it. The Room had a spacious, classic layout, and the stylish design still felt timeless. The view of Lake Biwa from the Room was wonderful, and the breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of tasty dishes with great service. Highly recommended.

    Lake Biwa Sightseeing

    I made a Reservation for a Sky Floor double room. The view was spectacular, and my girlfriend was truly impressed. For dinner, we enjoyed the buffet with roast beef and rainbow trout, along with plenty of Chinese dishes.

    Spectacular views

    The long stretch of clear weather that lasted until the morning of our arrival quickly broke down, and it rained until the next morning. Maybe it was karma—but I’ll take it positively and say we got off lightly. The Room on the 34th floor of EIZAN was spacious and very comfortable. The next morning, we were also able to enjoy a spectacular view of Lake Biwa after the rain. As for dining, the dinner buffet left me somewhat underwhelmed. Next time, I’ll dine at the Japanese restaurant where we had breakfast. The bath facilities were not an Onsen, and there was no large public bath—so no sauna either. However, there was a proper Japanese-style bath in the Room. If I get another chance to stay at a good price, I’d be happy to come again.

    I think the view of Lake Biwa is the best.

    The view of Lake Biwa was outstanding—at this height it’s something you won’t find at other Hotels. Even from the restaurant, we could enjoy the same view, and it was wonderful throughout our stay. There is no Onsen, but the bathroom was a clean unit bath with a washing area like at home, so I could relax and soak in the tub. The hot water filled up quickly as well. It was also nice that the toilet was separate. A stylish Hotel Room can be nice too, but this one was practical and easy to use. It was comfortable to sleep in pajamas instead of a yukata. Dinner had a 90-minute time limit, but it was more than enough. I wanted to try local dishes, so I chose the buffet instead of French cuisine. There were so many options that it was fun. The salad selection included lots of beautiful fresh vegetables and high-quality olive oil, which made me happy. The Shiga specialties were delicious as well. Both morning and evening offered all-you-can-eat soft-serve ice cream in three flavors; I had it with espresso as an affogato. The fresh milk soft serve was especially delicious. I’d never seen a machine at any other Hotel that bakes pancakes right in front of you and serves them fresh. Lately, even when there is an Onsen, I’ve found it stressful due to guests without proper manners (regardless of nationality) or people with tattoos despite posted notices—so having a spacious in-room bath with a washing area may actually be better. All staff members were very pleasant. In particular, the housekeeping team greeted us with cheerful “Good morning” and “Welcome back” in louder voices than at other Hotels, which felt great. In the lobby, luxurious fresh flowers were displayed among flowing water, and the large space carried the fragrance of lilies—something you don’t see at other Hotels. Spring-like fresh flowers were also arranged in the restaurant; with artificial flowers being so common elsewhere, this felt special. We also took walks along Lake Biwa outside the Hotel both at night and in the morning—the scenery truly is amazing. My family loved it too, and we felt refreshed. I would love to stay here again.

    A Hotel with a Beautiful View of Lake Biwa

    I often stay at various Hotels along Lake Biwa, and I love the view of Lake Biwa from this height. On top of that, the high quality of the staff is truly impressive. They also upgraded my Room, and I was able to relax and spend my time comfortably. It was disappointing that breakfast items were not replenished in time. I was also concerned about stains on the fabric chairs in the breakfast venue. It will probably be about another six months until my next visit. I look forward to staying with you again.

    A relaxing Room

    I have stayed at Otsu Prince Hotel many times, and it is one of my favorite Hotels. This time I stayed in a twin Room. The beds are large enough even for one person, with plenty of space even when you stretch your arms out. I was happy that the bathroom and toilet are separate. The showerhead can be switched between mist and straight modes, and you can fill the bathtub to soak and relax. The nightwear is soft and comfortable to wear. If staying for two nights, this is a Room where you would want to spend one day relaxing while looking out at Lake Biwa.

    A cold wave hit on t...

    A cold wave hit on the day we arrived and it was snowing, so we couldn’t go out much, but it allowed us to relax and take it easy. It was also very convenient that the toilet and bath were separate. The only slight downside was that there was no towel rack. There is a paid luggage delivery service to Kyoto Station, which we used. The staff at Kyoto Station were also very pleasant.

    A great-value Hotel

    I stayed on a Plan with dinner and breakfast included. The classic French course was delicious, and the view of Lake Biwa from the upper floors was wonderful, so I think this is a Hotel with excellent value for money. One slight disappointment was inconsistency in staff service. A young staff member who guided us to the breakfast buffet showed no expression and only said, “This way,” without explaining the table signs. In contrast, an older male staff member (wearing a permit strap) cheerfully and politely said, “Have a nice day,” when clearing plates, providing service that made the morning feel pleasant. Since this alone greatly improves the perceived quality of the Hotel, I hope younger staff can be trained by learning from the service of more experienced senior staff.

    Enjoy a peaceful stay with great views.

    I stayed alone to visit my children and grandchildren. The free shuttle bus from Otsu Station was very helpful. The Hotel has a beautiful view of Lake Biwa, and since I stayed on a high floor, I could enjoy the scenery even more peacefully. The Room feels a bit dated, with things like the carpet showing its age, but it was thoroughly cleaned. It felt like a place where I could stay with peace of mind. Both dinner and breakfast were buffet-style, and the morning kakiage in particular left a strong impression. However, the all-you-can-eat crab at dinner was included, but a fixed amount had already been placed on the table with a big “thud,” which was a bit disappointing. Also, since the elevator stops differ between the left and right sides, I wish this had been displayed more clearly in larger text. As it’s a reliable Prince Hotel, I may stay again.

    For your wedding anniversary

    We stayed here for our wedding anniversary. They arranged a high-floor Room for us, and we were delighted by the message plate and flowers in the Room, as well as the thoughtful message on the dessert plate at dinner. At breakfast, we enjoyed a little of everything—Japanese and Western dishes—while taking in the magnificent view of Lake Biwa. The freshly made small pancakes were adorable and delicious. Fresh flowers displayed at the restaurant entrance added an elegant touch. All staff members had wonderful smiles. The uniforms worn by the female front desk staff were lovely, and each person styled their scarf differently, which looked very chic. At check-out, there was an experienced-looking male staff member at the front desk, and I found myself thinking, “What a refined gentleman—truly worthy of The Prince Hotel!” We bought Mitsuidera Chikara Mochi at the shop on the first floor before heading home. (It was very delicious.) We had a truly elegant time. Thank you very much.

    The location is excellent.

    My wife and I stayed for two nights on a Plan with breakfast and dinner included. It’s about a 10-minute shuttle bus ride from Otsu Station, and the Hotel sits quietly by Lake Biwa—an excellent location. At dusk, as the sky gradually darkens, the lake reflects the lights on the opposite shore. In the early morning twilight, you can see wave crests emerging, along with waterfowl arriving. It’s a view you never get tired of. With IKYU benefits, we received a Room upgrade and services such as extended checkout. Thank you very much. However, from here my comments will be a bit more critical. The Facility is quite old, and unfortunately the walls are thin—I was surprised that we could even hear loud noises from next door when someone was bathing. Dinner on both days was at an in-house restaurant included in our Plan. We had been looking forward to it, but on one of the days there were many families with children; some started singing or running around in the aisles, making it feel like a family restaurant. The staff did not seem to caution them in particular, so I assume this is standard. It may not be suitable for more formal occasions such as hosting important guests or proposing. At breakfast, after handing over your Room key to confirm your room number, staff guide you to your seat—but they assign where you sit (“This way,” etc.). I understand there may be reasons such as service logistics, but other guests also mentioned that “it would be more enjoyable if we could choose our own seats.” This was another disappointing point. Also, services overall felt somewhat reduced—for example, luggage delivery from Kyoto Station (previously free along with Takaragaike) has become paid. As I wrote at the beginning, the location is truly outstanding. I sincerely hope you will refer to other hotels’ hospitality and continue improving to make this an even more comfortable Hotel. Thank you for taking care of us.

    Great view and delicious meals

    The hotel parking is spacious and easy to use. Staff at check-in were polite and attentive. The view from the 34th floor room is excellent. The shower in the room has high water pressure, making it very refreshing. The bed has just the right firmness for a comfortable sleep. Dinner buffet was satisfying and delicious, especially the roast pork.

    This was my second stay. Since it was December, the dinner buffet featured a Christmas menu, and everything was delicious. The Christmas illuminations were also very beautiful, allowing me to fully enjoy the festive atmosphere. Lago Otsu is really close by, so I could take a walk while enjoying views of Lake Biwa and visit for some sweets, which added a new layer of enjoyment to my trip.

    Hotel with a Panoramic View of Lake Biwa

    Located by the shores of Lake Biwa, the Room offers a great view of the lake. Unfortunately, due to bad weather, the charm of this Hotel was somewhat diminished. The meals were served in a buffet style and were all delicious. Since it was Christmas season, there were many chicken dishes, all creatively prepared and enjoyable. The roast beef was so good that I went back for seconds multiple times. One downside common to all Prince Hotels is that check-in takes time. Given the large number of guest rooms, this is understandable but still regrettable.

    Enjoy Lake Biwa at the Year-End & Be Amazed by the Great Value and Stunning Sky Floor!

    Stayed on December 28th with my family of four. Despite the busy year-end season, thanks to Biwako Otsu Prince Hotel, we had a relaxing and wonderful trip to wrap up the year. 【Room Upgrade】 We initially booked a room on the Lake Floor (up to 16F), but were kindly upgraded to the Sky Floor on the 26F. The panoramic view from the high floor was absolutely breathtaking! Unfortunately, as we arrived at night, we couldn’t enjoy the view then. The next morning was foggy as well, so we missed seeing Lake Biwa—this was truly our only regret! That said, the room itself was spacious and luxurious, providing plenty of comfort for all four of us. 【Dining】 For dinner, we enjoyed a Chinese course meal at the hotel. Each dish was beautifully presented and authentically flavored; our entire family loved it. The chili shrimp and mapo tofu were especially delicious! It made for an elegant dinner experience perfect for year-end celebrations in a calm atmosphere. The breakfast buffet offered Japanese cuisine with an impressive variety of options featuring local ingredients—it was fun just choosing what to eat! My daughter particularly loved freshly fried tempura fritters and had three servings. 【Cost Performance】 What surprised us most was that this entire experience cost approximately ¥53,000 for four people. With two meals included plus an upgrade during late December—a peak season—the value felt incredible! The staff’s hospitality stood out as well; everything from check-in to check-out went smoothly with warm service throughout our stay. This is undoubtedly one of the best hotels I’d love to revisit when traveling in Shiga or Otsu again. Thank you very much!

    It was a comfortable Hotel.

    This was my second trip to Lake Biwa, and it was my first time staying at this accommodation. Although it is a bit far from the station, I had a very comfortable stay. The building is not new, but the space is truly luxurious, offering spacious and relaxing rooms. The breakfast was delicious, and I would love to stay here again when I visit Lake Biwa.     The view is excellent.

    I reserved a high-floor room, which allowed me to enjoy a distant view of Lake Biwa. The full glass windows were spotless and well-maintained. The room was spacious and clean. I used room service for breakfast, and it was impressive with a well-balanced and generous portion. When making the reservation, I requested a room with a view of the Lake Biwa Fountain, but I was not informed that it was out of operation due to an accident with no scheduled restoration date.

    Touring Day 2

    First time at Lake Biwa! The most prominent Hotel in Otsu! No public bath available. I didn't have any meals, so I can't evaluate that, but the Room's spaciousness, atmosphere, and amenities were excellent. Above all, the main reason to stay at this Hotel is its location. I recommend staying on the upper floors.

    Cleanliness, great views, and excellent value for money.

    The most striking and stylish building by Lake Biwa, visiting here had been a long-time dream. The Room was clean, functional, and the service was excellent. They kindly accommodated requests like a humidifier, which helped me stay in good health and enjoy sightseeing in Kyoto. One point of improvement would be to have staff guide guests during the crowded dinner reception to avoid confusion about the end of the line. Overall, it turned out to be an amazing mother-daughter trip enjoying beautiful Lake Biwa and Kyoto. Thank you so much!
