    It was a wonderful anniversary.

    We stayed here to celebrate my 60th birthday. From the moment we arrived, many staff members warmly welcomed us, and I truly appreciated it. Fresh flowers were beautifully arranged throughout the property, and the Room was spacious and very clean. The meals were excellent, and we enjoyed dishes we don’t usually get to have. At dessert time, they brought a red happi coat for my 60th birthday celebration and surprised me with an elaborate dessert topped with sparklers—it made me very happy. Thank you very much. I would love to visit again during crab season as well.

    Satisfied after a long time.

    We visited during the Obon holidays with my son’s family. Since we had small children with us, I was worried we might cause trouble for the Ryokan, but we were warmly welcomed. We had booked two Rooms, and they kindly arranged for us to dine together in one Room. We were greeted by the proprietress and the young proprietress, which gave a wonderful traditional feel. The meals were absolutely delicious and suited us perfectly. The children’s meal was also the best I have ever seen. During our stay, the attendants and other staff were very kind and left a great impression. It felt like a long-established Ryokan—an Accommodation where you can truly relax. I’m sensitive to noise, but it was very quiet and comfortable. Next time, we plan to return during crab season. I’m glad we found such a great Accommodation nearby, and we definitely want to visit again. Thank you very much.

    This is an Accommodation with wonderful hospitality.

    We received a warm welcome from everyone at the entrance, and it was nice to spend time inside the Accommodation without wearing shoes. The Onsen and all areas of the building were impeccably cleaned, which made everything feel truly pleasant. We also enjoyed our in-room meal at a relaxed pace, with a wonderful attendant explaining the seasonal dishes and sake. The sake said to be made by the Awara Onsen proprietresses’ association was especially delicious, so we bought some as a souvenir to take home. At this Accommodation, starting with the proprietress, everyone is truly lovely. The day we stayed happened to be during an Awara Onsen festival, and when we went to the bath afterward, we saw the president, proprietress, and staff dancing in the garden. They kindly invited us to join them for a while—it felt very homey and was great fun. It became a wonderful memory. Next time, we would love to visit again during crab season.

    The cuisine, the free-flowing hot spring water from the source, and everyone’s smiles—everything was outstanding.

    Thank you very much for your heartfelt hospitality during our three-day, two-night stay. Every dish made with local ingredients was deeply flavorful, and the free-flowing natural hot spring water was so soothing it felt as if both body and mind were gently unwinding—my spouse and I were truly refreshed. On the second day, we enjoyed a full round at a golf club near the Accommodation. Although it was extremely hot, the Onsen we had upon returning eased our fatigue, and once again we were reminded of how wonderful BeniyA’s hot spring water is. Also, whenever we encountered your warm smiles and greetings—especially from the attendant in charge of us—we felt at ease. Even a brief word when passing in the hallway showed such thoughtfulness, and we are sincerely grateful that we could spend our entire stay so comfortably. In addition, hearing from the proprietress about the kitchen knives left a strong impression on us—particularly as it came just after seeing news about a female figure skater receiving Japan’s People’s Honour Award. On our way to the large public bath, we caught a glimpse of the kitchen area and felt anew that these knives support your delicious cuisine every day. This trip became a cherished memory for us as a couple. We would love to visit again in another season—and next time, we hope to enjoy winter crab delicacies.

    To the Proprietress

    Thank you for your hospitality. It may be time to refresh your breakfast offerings. For example, while the raw egg served at breakfast may be of good quality, compared with specialty restaurants that serve rice with raw egg, it feels noticeably inferior. The indoor Onsen bath is very hot, and having to add a large amount of water may not be an issue in terms of the spring quality, but it does not feel pleasant. Have you considered focusing more on returning guests? I think it would be acceptable to raise your rates. I apologize for speaking so freely.

    We thoroughly enjoyed the innovative cuisine.

    This was our first time visiting Awara Onsen, and from the charming town atmosphere to Beniya’s clean, refined appearance, our first impression could not have been better. The Room layout and ambiance were calm and elegant—very comfortable even for seniors like us. As for the cuisine, we especially enjoyed the tomato-based dish and Beniya’s special tofu (perhaps their signature?), a wonderful house-made specialty you can’t find elsewhere. At an Accommodation like this, thoughtful service from the staff is truly appreciated, and at Beniya we could feel that genuine care from everyone. We had asked to leave our luggage in the morning (before check-in), and it was a delightful surprise that a staff member came out to the road to meet us on arrival. We are also grateful for the attentive care provided by our Room attendant. This is an Accommodation we would love to visit again. Finally, both the proprietress and the young proprietress were lovely, and we were very satisfied to be welcomed—and seen off with Shuttle Service—by such wonderful hosts.

    A quiet Accommodation filled with smiles

    We made a Reservation for Beniya’s anniversary Plan for my birthday celebration, just the two of us—then changed the number of guests when our daughter said she wanted to come with our grandchild. After my son-in-law safely completed his long-term training and could travel with us, we changed the number again. Then, after watching a morning TV show, my husband insisted he absolutely wanted to try abalone shabu-shabu, so we asked to add an extra dish… Despite multiple calls and changes, they handled everything kindly and cheerfully. We arrived excited as a group of five. The warm, courteous welcome at the entrance took that excitement to its peak. The seasonal touches in the décor—its scent and sounds—felt wonderful on all five senses, and it was a space where even time seemed to slow down. They were thoughtful in many ways so everyone could be comfortable, and we truly had a delightful stay. We brought our 2-year-old grandchild and worried we might disturb guests seeking a quiet getaway—but the tatami-covered corridors and lounge softened little footsteps. Being able to dine at our own pace in a well soundproofed Room, along with having an in-room free-flowing Onsen bath from the source, meant there were no tantrums—and our whole family was able to relax and enjoy ourselves unhurriedly. The birthday celebration arranged by the proprietress and our attendant was truly touching. It is a wonderful Ryokan: peaceful yet full of smiles, with a bright and welcoming atmosphere throughout. We sincerely hope to visit again with our family.

    Stayed on May 23 as a couple (2 guests). They kindly responded to our inquiries in advance. The room was very clean and relaxing. The meals were delicious. We will stay again in autumn.

    Not great.

    The staff and the proprietress were pleasant. However, perhaps because everything is too new, it didn’t quite feel fully satisfying. A few details: 1. The Room keyhole is hard to see because there is no light, and the sliding lock was difficult to use. 2. There’s nowhere to relax except the Room; I would have liked a more casual place to unwind. Also, their earnestness felt a bit strained, and I didn’t sense much ease or breathing room.

    A Trip to Fulfill My Mother’s Dream

    My mother is a huge fan of Yujiro Ishihara, and I learned for the first time a few years ago that she had always wanted to visit Beniya at least once. She has rarely taken trips just for herself, and usually only joined family trips, so when I heard that, I wanted to make it happen. Since she is getting older and May seemed like a pleasant time of year, I made a Reservation. Her health was good, and we were able to visit. Meals were served in our Room, so we could relax while looking through the photo books placed in the hallway. The large public bath is not very big, but perhaps because the bath in our Room was also an Onsen, it never felt crowded with other guests. Everything was clean, and it felt almost private. We often passed the attendants in the hallway and exchanged greetings with smiles each time. Because all Rooms have in-room dining, it made sense that there were so many staff around—something you don’t often see at other Ryokan—and it was reassuring to know we could ask anything right away. The hallway flooring has cushioning, so even in the Room we didn’t have to worry about noise from people walking by. This trip was for my mother, so I didn’t mention on the Reservation site that it was my birthday. However—perhaps my mother told them that day—the proprietress and an attendant surprised me during dinner with a celebration. I’m truly grateful; it became a wonderful memory for me as well. Even after returning home, my mother said she hopes we can go again someday. I would love to visit again while she is still healthy enough to travel.

    It was a wonderful A...

    It was a wonderful Accommodation in every way. I only wish the bath in the Room were a bit larger.... If I stay in Awara Onsen again, I will choose Beniya next time as well.

    We’re very satisfied and truly grateful.

    The proprietress, the young proprietress, and all the staff provided outstanding hospitality. It was such a warm place, and I felt incredibly comfortable throughout my stay. The complimentary lobby “sip of beer” was delicious, but the tomato juice and milk were exceptionally good as well. Dinner was served in the Room, and each dish was brought out at just the right time, so everything was truly enjoyable. That said, the bed was quite firm and a bit difficult to sleep on. I would be very happy if you could offer a low-rebound mattress topper in bed size for loan. The pillow was also on the thin side, so it would have been nice to have a low-rebound pillow option. The duvet had a cover that fit as one piece with it, making it easy to handle and very comfortable. As others have mentioned, the bath water temperature in the Room is quite hot; however, since the staff informed us in advance, we were able to add cold water before getting in and enjoy it comfortably. Most impressive of all was the quality of the amenities: the shampoo was “Eral Premier Balancing Shampoo” with matching treatment/conditioner, and the in-Room skincare items were “SHOLAYERED.” I really appreciated that you provided such high-quality amenities and happily used them. It’s a wonderful Ryokan, and this stay reminded me once again that a Ryokan is made special by its people. Thank you very much.

    Three-Generation Trip

    My first trip to Fukui. When I told my son it was for my mother’s birthday and my 60th birthday celebration, he decided to join us. It suddenly became an unforgettable three-generation trip. Beniya made our stay even more comfortable. The meals, the Room, and the hospitality—everything was excellent. It became a wonderful commemorative trip. Next time, I’d like to visit during crab season.

    The Facilities, meal...

    The Facilities, meals, and service were all excellent. One disappointing point was that cleaning in both the large public bath and the in-room open-air bath (e.g., tiles) seemed slightly insufficient, and I noticed mold in the tile grout.

    Beautifully detailed

    This was my first one-night stay, and from the warm welcome by women in kimono—so typical of a Japanese Ryokan—I could sense how carefully and beautifully everything is maintained, from the building to the Room and even the baths. The bath towels were neatly folded and felt very clean. There aren’t many guest rooms, and it was clear that all staff share guest information and genuinely try to take good care of each guest. The young proprietress was lovely, and everyone—from the staff to the older team members—provided smart, pleasant service. You can also see into the kitchen, and the meals were delicious with a real sense of care. The number of dishes was just the right amount for us. I later learned it was rebuilt after a fire a few years ago; the architecture, interior design, and garden all felt thoughtfully done. Overall, it was excellent.

    It was a wonderful birthday.

    Our whole family was very happy with the surprise celebration for our son’s birthday. Thank you for accommodating multiple changes to the Shuttle Service schedule; we were very satisfied with your hospitality. The in-room meals were all delicious, and even my wife, who usually eats small portions, finished everything. The bath in the Room was great, but in the large public bath we felt the water temperature was a little hot, and we wished there had been a key locker. We are filled with gratitude.

    Multiple babies in diapers stayed here.

    The staff, Room, meals, and hot spring were all excellent. I would definitely like to visit again.\nHowever, I believe the terms stated that children who are not yet out of diapers should not use the large public bath and should use the in-room bath instead.\nIn reality, several clearly diapered children (I saw used diapers being removed in the changing area, so I’m sure), as well as multiple babies, were using the bath. It was not just one family.\nThere is no prominent notice in the changing area or bath, and there is also a baby bed in the changing area, so some guests may assume that diapered children are allowed.\nThe parents rinsed the floor clean when leaving, so it wasn’t particularly troublesome for me, but I was a little surprised and wanted to mention it. Again, aside from that, it was a wonderful Ryokan.

    A Long-Awaited Hokuriku Trip with My Parents

    After being shown to our Room, we received various explanations and guidance. The staff’s explanations were very polite. We didn’t have much time before dinner, but since it was a Room with a private Onsen, it was great that we could quickly take a bath. However, when we tried to get in, the water was unexpectedly at room temperature— not warm at all, actually cold. We were shocked. This is not an inexpensive Accommodation. Don’t you check the temperature of the in-room Onsen before check-in? Last year my mother was hospitalized and we had to cancel at short notice, so this was a trip we had been looking forward to for over a year. My husband and I decided not to complain. They did respond right away, but we still had to wait about 15–20 minutes before we could use it. We reserved this type of Room with a private Onsen because my mother has limitations—she had a full mastectomy due to breast cancer and has also undergone treatment for blood cancer—so she cannot use the large public bath. That part was very disappointing. I thought there might be some service offered for the mistake, but there wasn’t. At checkout there wasn’t even an apology such as, “We’re sorry you couldn’t use the Onsen immediately after arrival due to our mistake.” Everything else was very good, which makes it even more disappointing.

    This is the best Accommodation in every way, with truly heartfelt hospitality.

    On our first stay, the food was delicious and the service was wonderful, so we knew we wanted to come back—and this time we did. It was just as good as we had hoped. We also got the Room we requested and loved it. The only downside was that the bath was a little small, but we were told it will be renovated and made larger next time, which we’re looking forward to. We’ve only just returned home, yet my spouse and I are already talking about when to visit again. We’re especially eager to come back for the steamed rice with sea urchin and the steamed rice with Seiko crab—both are calling us back. Each time, we’d like to stay in a different Room. We even talk about how nice it would be if we could try all 17 Rooms someday.

    A Relaxing Stay with Heartwarming Hospitality

    From the moment we arrived, the attendant who had helped us on our previous stay remembered us and welcomed us with a smile, and I felt truly glad to be back. During our last visit, we became fans of the proprietress and Ms. N, and I had been following them on Instagram as well. This time I was disappointed not to meet the proprietress, but we visited to celebrate my father’s 70th birthday, and thanks to your heartfelt kindness, his shy smile in his celebratory vest left a lasting impression on me. The meals were delicious both dinner and breakfast, with each dish reflecting the season. The Accommodation was quiet and comfortable, and with the Onsen as well, it’s a place where adults can relax at a leisurely pace and enjoy a truly luxurious time. I would love to visit again in another season.

    Because our last sta...

    Because our last stay was wonderful, we returned after a year, looking forward to it the whole time. We were happy that the same attendant who took care of us last time welcomed us with a smile. The meals were all delicious—not only the generous Echizen crab, but also the other sashimi and breakfast. We were also pleased that the proprietress came to greet us in our Room during dinner. Taking a photo with both the proprietress and our attendant before we left is a cherished memory. After sightseeing all day, my feet were quite sore, but after soaking many times in the Onsen in our Room, the pain was gone by the next day—I was reminded again how wonderful Awara Onsen is. I was also glad to see that the Room amenities had been updated. With delicious food and water, a comfortable Room atmosphere, and warm service, this is a lovely Accommodation that makes you want to come back again next year by the time you leave. Thank you very much for taking such good care of us.

    It was a wonderful trip.

    It was wonderful. The staff took great care of us, and their manner was excellent. We enjoyed the Onsen in both the large public bath and our Room. Above all, we thoroughly enjoyed the crab. It was a comfortable Accommodation where we wished we could have stayed longer.

    A warm and welcoming Ryokan

    This was my second stay at this Hotel. This time I stayed in a Japanese-style room, which was very comfortable, and the Hotel itself felt new and impeccably clean. Needless to say, the Echizen crab kaiseki dinner was outstanding. My sincere thanks to the chef who prepared the crab and to the female staff member who assisted us. The crab was cooked to perfection. Breakfast was also excellent, with fresh local ingredients used in every dish. The eggs were sourced from a pesticide-free, stress-free farm. The miso soup was handmade by all staff together in February. I am truly grateful for the warm hospitality of everyone at the Hotel, and I would love to stay again.
