    A wheelchair for use in the bathroom is available.

    I planned this trip for my mother's 75th birthday. Since she has a second-degree disability, I made various requests to the reservation staff over the phone in advance, such as arranging parking space for the car, an extra bed, a birthday message, and a birthday cake. I am grateful that all of these were kindly accommodated. As mentioned in the title, I was deeply impressed to find a wheelchair for bath assistance prepared in the changing room of the large public bath! While there are many onsen with handrails and slopes, having an assistance wheelchair available allowed us as onsen lovers to enjoy multiple baths during our stay. Additionally, there were slopes inside the bath area itself that enabled movement with a wheelchair up to the bathtub. As for areas of improvement, adding anti-slip processing to both the slope in the bathing area and handrails around bathtubs would make it even safer for use. Also, there was slight inconvenience when using elevators within hotel facilities. For these reasons and because staff entered our room despite declining cleaning services and futon arrangements during our multiple night stay—this surprised us—I rated it 4 stars instead of 5 stars. The buffet meals were enjoyable without becoming repetitive even during our extended stay and contributed greatly to making my mother’s birthday memorable and delightful. Thank you very much to all staff members who supported us throughout this special occasion!

    Hokkaido Trip: First Night

    Close to Noboribetsu Jigokudani with a strong sulfur scent. The bath was excellent, the meals were satisfying, and the Room was perfect. I felt like visiting again.

    Highly satisfied!

    The bath and meals were great. The room had some dust in the gaps, which made it feel slightly less clean. The large public bath was far away, which could be challenging for elderly guests.

    Delicious buffet meals available.

    The Onsen was exceptional, and the buffet cuisine was incredibly delicious. I enjoyed making a seafood bowl with a generous serving of salmon roe! The room was also clean and well-maintained, providing a comfortable stay.

    This is my third time staying here. I am always satisfied, but I was especially touched that the staff acknowledged my repeated visits and expressed their gratitude at check-in. On top of that, they even prepared amenities and a name tag for my dog, which was truly heartwarming! Even when we checked out at the last minute, the cleaning staff greeted us with smiles and a cheerful "Thank you!" without any hint of annoyance. It made me so happy! I definitely want to come back again!

    It was an excellent accommodation with the best value for money.

    I stayed with my 4-year-old child and had an absolutely wonderful experience! First, the pool was amazing! There was a slide perfect for my 4-year-old son, and he played with a big smile the entire time. The water temperature was just right, making it comfortable for adults too. Soaking in the jacuzzi while enjoying views of Jigokudani felt incredibly luxurious. The location was excellent, allowing us to explore Jigokudani before and after check-in. Both my child and I were deeply impressed by the power of nature. The buffet for dinner and breakfast exceeded expectations with its delicious variety. There were plenty of options to satisfy both adults and children. The fresh seafood was especially delightful—I couldn’t help but overindulge (haha). The room was very clean, comfortable, and spacious enough for us to relax fully. From the onsen to the food, room, and location—everything exceeded our expectations!

    The view from the large public bath is stunning.

    I booked a pet-friendly room for one night and two days (with breakfast) as I expected to arrive late. I overlooked the explanation about the additional pet admission fee (5,500 yen), so I was surprised at check-in. However, with gifts from the hotel such as a personalized keychain, treats, and a walking bag for my pet, along with a clean and well-prepared pet circle in the room, I understood that this fee was for their perfect hospitality towards pets. The room on the second floor of the South Wing was very clean and impressive. In the basement of the main building, there were ramen and soba restaurants open until late at night, which made it convenient to have dinner there. Although the large public bath was far from our room, it offered five types of hot spring qualities to enjoy at once. There were plenty of indoor and outdoor baths to explore, making it fun to experience different onsen options. The front desk staff informed us that we could use the large public bath not only during our stay but also after check-out. This allowed us to hike around Jigokudani after checking out and then relax in an onsen afterward—fully enjoying Noboribetsu Onsen at our own pace. The spacious indoor bath with its glass walls provided stunning views. The breakfast buffet had a wide variety of delicious options. With clean rooms, tasty meals, luxurious onsen facilities, well-stocked souvenir shops—it was an incredibly satisfying hotel experience. I would love to stay here again in the future! Thank you very much!

    Disappointing Points

    I arrived at the accommodation by rental car, but I was frustrated with the parking guidance. Even though I was tired upon arrival, I was instructed to reverse the car. When I backed up slightly and checked the rearview mirror, there was a car parked right behind me! I was then directed to go to the underground parking lot, where I encountered an unfriendly staff member. I had been looking forward to enjoying my stay at the accommodation, but it ended up being disappointing.

    Let's go to the Onsen!

    Made a reservation to visit Noboribetsu Onsen after a long time. The nostalgic atmosphere of a large-scale ryokan, which has become rare recently, was delightful. While it’s not the calm and relaxing type of accommodation, it was enjoyable in its own way. A great accommodation overall.

    The Onsen is excellent.

    There are countless baths here—it's truly amazing! I've never seen anything like it. Spacious and relaxing. The "lying bath" was perfect for me in terms of temperature and water depth, allowing me to gaze at the high ceiling while unwinding. On my second visit, I went straight to the lying bath. The facility is so large that it even has two escalators inside. For someone like me who gets lost easily, staying in the main building was a great choice. It takes about 1.5 hours by express bus from New Chitose Airport, and there's a convenient bus stop right in front of Dai-ichi Takimotokan Main Building. On my way back, I took a local bus to Noboribetsu Station; the nearby bus stop made it easy (though the slope is quite steep).

    The hot spring was nice, but I am still considering a return visit.

    The Ryokan offers a large bath where you can relax and enjoy a blissful time. However, the 100% natural hot spring baths are limited to one for men and one for women, with a maximum capacity of about four people each. The other baths are diluted with water. It was challenging to wait for an available spot in the natural hot spring bath when it was occupied. The meals were luxurious and delicious, but unfortunately, the dining area was noisy and surrounded by loud children, which made it difficult to enjoy a quiet meal as planned. The accommodation has two buffet dining areas assigned by staff at the entrance; however, I would have preferred being able to choose a quieter floor (the criteria for assignment were unclear). Lastly, regarding the staff: they seemed very busy and appeared to lack composure at times. Overall, I left feeling slightly tired.

    Breakfast is...

    The Onsen and room are excellent. However, the breakfast is disappointing. Vietnamese cuisine is unnecessary and not tasty. There should be at least one or two seafood or sashimi dishes available. The menu should focus more on Japanese cuisine, especially Hokkaido specialties.

    The room was clean. The Onsen was very satisfying. The meals were well-prepared, with hot dishes served hot and cold dishes served cold, and they were delicious.

    Couples' Trip

    The hotel was very beautiful, and the staff were kind, attentive, and always smiling. However, the position of the mirror in the guest room was too high, so when sitting on a chair, only my face from the chin up was visible. Additionally, as I have presbyopia, it was disappointing that there wasn’t a magnifying mirror available. Many hotels I’ve stayed at before had magnifying mirrors with lights around them; I even bought one myself because they’re so convenient. This hotel didn’t feel senior-friendly. For example, blow-drying my hair was tiring because I couldn’t see below my chin while seated and had to stand to do it. Also, when going to the bath area, there were no baskets or bags provided for carrying items. Using a plastic bag from the hotel to carry underwear felt inconvenient and gave an impression of being less refined for such an elegant hotel overall. It’s truly a lovely place but feels like it’s missing some thoughtful touches that would make it perfect!

    It might be better not to choose the buffet Plan...

    I revisited after 26 years since my first stay, which left me with many wonderful memories. The location is excellent, the Facility is impeccable, and the open-air bath service remains unique and unchanged. However, I was disappointed with the buffet (dinner and breakfast). While other Ryokans are making various efforts to improve, this one felt a bit lacking in comparison. There weren’t many local dishes to enjoy, and instead, there seemed to be a focus on international cuisine for inbound guests. The most disappointing part was the sashimi—only salmon, tuna, octopus, and scallops were available. The selection was limited to common items found anywhere else; moreover, they were watery and not fresh. I love this Ryokan dearly and would like to visit again in the future; I sincerely hope for improvements in this area!

    The seafood is delicious, though everything else is just okay!

    The seafood was delicious. The Room was hot because there was no air conditioning. It would be better if the open-air bath usage time were longer. Room cleaning was not great... snacks were scattered around. The outer garment for the yukata? It seemed to still be dirty from the previous guest. Is it true that you get a small souvenir for answering the survey at the end? I didn’t receive one...

    The bath was excellent.

    The hot spring bath was excellent as it is close to the source. However, the yukata sizes were varied, but unfortunately, they were not long enough. It seemed that some international guests did not know how to wear a yukata properly, which was a bit disappointing. Providing instructions on how to wear it along with options like samue or jinbei would be a great idea.

    A delightful trip with a large Onsen and delicious meals

    - Service The service was excellent, making for a very comfortable stay. - Room We stayed in a twin-bedded room in the South Wing. The room was very clean and had enough space to spread out our luggage. Although the bathroom area was a bit small, it wasn't an issue as we used the onsen. - Meals Both breakfast and dinner were buffet-style, and everything was delicious. There were many local specialties from Hokkaido, such as DIY seafood bowls and king crab, which we thoroughly enjoyed. - Onsen The large bath made for an enjoyable onsen experience. There were many types of baths, including open-air ones, and the panoramic view of Jigokudani added to our satisfaction immensely.

    Noboribetsu

    I wanted to spend as much time relaxing in the room as possible, so I looked for a room with an Onsen. Among the many traditional accommodations in Noboribetsu, this room stood out because it had been renovated and was very clean. Upon arrival, I found the room to be comfortable, clean, and well-equipped with amenities. The view from the room was also excellent. POLA BA products were provided in a box, and the refrigerator contents were complimentary with plenty of coffee capsules available. The bed was very comfortable as well. The Onsen was sourced directly from a hot spring and required adjusting water temperature manually, but it offered great views and I ended up using it multiple times. However, one disappointing aspect was the dining experience. While I didn’t have high expectations since this is not a luxury accommodation, it fell short of even modest expectations. Although not entirely the accommodation's fault, dining in semi-private rooms wasn’t relaxing due to noisy surroundings and other guests coughing throughout dinner. I felt that seating arrangements could have been better considered. Additionally, staff serving dinner seemed inexperienced; there were no explanations about dishes served; they reached over us while serving; used plates weren’t cleared before new dishes were brought out—all things unexpected for kaiseki-style dining. On a positive note regarding meals: breakfast service staff provided good hospitality! Given how wonderful our stay within such special western wing suites turned-out-to-be overall though—perhaps introducing exclusive plans offering private-room meal options might elevate satisfaction levels further? For those prioritizing quality accommodations above-all-else—Western Wing Special Suites come highly recommended!

    The bath was incredibly spacious and absolutely fantastic. The buffet offered a wide variety of dishes, leaving us completely satisfied. It had been a while since our last visit, but it was wonderful.

    The meals were disappointing.

    Room dining with a pet is limited to bento boxes. The bento was, of course, cold, and even the miso soup was cold. As expected from a bento, the rice was also cold and clumped together, making the anticipated meal disappointing. Unfortunately, I believe the evaluation of meals reflects the overall experience.

    Perfect Hotel

    It is lively in the large Onsen Hotel, but the room was completely noise-free and I slept well. Everything is clean and well-organized. The breakfast and dinner buffets offer a wide variety of options. Despite being large and crowded, under the cheerful and calm manager, the service is excellent. Thank you very much.

    The bath is amazing!

    The baths were amazing—about three times larger than I imagined. There were several different types of hot spring water, which made it really enjoyable. The breakfast and dinner buffets had two serving lines to prevent crowding, so we could dine comfortably. I’d love to visit again.

    I will definitely visit again.

    It was beautiful, and the meals included all-you-can-eat bluefin tuna (including fatty tuna)... Overall, the cost performance was very good. The bath was large and the water was nice, and my 5-year-old son enjoyed it. What I would like to see improved is... The pool was extremely cold. It was as cold as an overseas Hotel, so I would like the water temperature to be raised a bit. Other than that, it was very good. I will definitely visit again. Thank you very much.

    The Onsen was wonderful.

    Upon arriving at the Hotel and entering the premises, the scent of sulfur was in the air. The lobby also had a sulfur scent, and I checked in with excitement. The lobby was spacious and clean. The Room was a bit of a distance from the large public bath, but the large public bath was wonderful. A large indoor bath with a view of Jigokudani, an open-air bath with views of the waterwheel and garden trees. Despite being incredibly spacious, there were private time slots available. Enjoying the open-air bath with a drink in hand was the best. It was the closest to Jigokudani, and there was a dining area within the premises, so even without meals included, I could enjoy my stay with peace of mind. I would love to stay again.
