It might be a bit tough for elderly guests.
We stayed here on a trip with three women around 70 years old. All the staff were pleasant, the Onsen was spacious, and although the meals were buffet-style, they were delicious. However, it’s more suited to younger guests. It’s a very large Accommodation, so you end up walking a lot just to get to the dining area or the Onsen. We came by bus from Sapporo, and even from the stop called “Daiichi Takikan-mae,” you still have to walk uphill. The Room was also small—there’s a reason for the reasonable price.

Old and just big.
I was misled by a Nikkei feature. I should not have stayed at this huge, old, outdated, dirty Onsen. The taste is poor, and the buffet is consistently terrible.

I’m not sure this is appropriate for a Japanese Accommodation, as there are no tattoo restrictions for the bath!
This was my third stay, but it was the first time I experienced this. One guest was Japanese with full-body tattoos, and another guest—whose nationality I could not confirm—had large tattoos on their arms and legs. I understand that running an Accommodation is difficult, but as an ordinary person I feel uncomfortable with tattoos. I was disappointed that the well-known Daiichi Takimotokan has no restrictions. I don’t think I will stay again, but being able to relax comfortably in the Onsen is important for an Onsen Hotel.\nAlso, although the all-you-can-drink with meals is limited to one hour, drinks were slow to arrive even after ordering and following up. At other Accommodations, self-service worked perfectly well.

A Classic Onsen Hotel
This was my first time in Noboribetsu, and I chose this well-reviewed property. There were many staff members, and check-in and guidance were very smooth. The Room seemed to have been newly renovated, with a modern, clean interior, which was great. The large public bath did feel a bit dated, but there is also a pool, so families may enjoy it. For meals, I tried the buffet this time. The selection was plentiful and more than enough, but in such a large venue it didn’t feel very relaxing, so in hindsight I think I should have chosen the kaiseki course instead.

I was able to relax and take my time.
I stayed here about 25 years ago and returned for another visit. It has become a much larger Ryokan, but the service and Facility were satisfying, and I had a very pleasant stay. There seemed to be group guests as well, but the Onsen was spacious, and the dining area had semi-private seating, so I could relax. Having to take two escalators to reach the large public bath meant a long walk, which was a bit disappointing, so I reduced my rating by one star. The quality and quantity of the meals were sufficient, but I would have been even happier if there had been more items that felt uniquely Hokkaido. Overall, it was a good stay.

The best Hotel
Everything is prepared without having to ask, and it’s a Hotel that makes you want to come back every time you visit. The Onsen, meals, Room, amenities provided, and hospitality are all excellent. However, at night, people who do not appear to be staying at the Hotel—apparently foreign visitors—have been coming in through the day-use entrance. It does not feel safe, so I would like that entrance to be closed. I also felt uncomfortable seeing a staff member cleaning the women’s bath area put away chairs and buckets with their feet instead of using their hands. In addition, the person cleaning around the lockers seemed to be watching guests closely, which made me feel very uneasy.

High-quality hot spring water and premium guest room standards.
Following last year, we stayed again this year in the West Wing corner suite. It’s our favorite Room—I couldn’t help saying, “I’m home.” Above all, this Ryokan’s Onsen in the large public bath has exceptional water quality, making it a place you’ll definitely want to return to. The “Takimoto Gozen” breakfast is very filling, and the welcome sweets are also delicious. We’ll be back next year as well, in a different season.

Japan’s Best Onsen Accommodation
I was amazed—I’ve never been in such a spacious Onsen before. This is truly a wonderful Accommodation! It was an unforgettable place that made me want to come back again.

The Onsen was excellent, and I enjoyed it many times. The meals were very satisfying, with plenty of crab and salmon roe. I also enjoyed the delicious soft-serve ice cream. The Room was clean and quiet. This was my third stay, and I will visit again.

Reviews
Stayed for 1 night and 2 days with breakfast only for 2 adults. Communication with the front desk during check-in was a bit challenging, though I believe the Hotel's message was conveyed to me. The Room was spacious, with large beds and a big mirror in the washroom, which were excellent. However, the button for the indirect lighting had a malfunction and didn’t work. After a housekeeper came to check it, they determined it needed repair and kindly offered us another Room on one floor below of the same type. Due to this sudden change, we noticed that items like Onsen manju and bottled water from our previous Room were missing. Upon contacting the front desk again, another staff member promptly brought them to us. The Onsen facilities were spacious both indoors and outdoors, providing great comfort. Breakfast was buffet-style; every dish was delicious, making me wish I could stay longer if not for time constraints. Personally, I found breakfast particularly delightful and would like to try including dinner next time I stay here!

A Comfortable Time
The room, the private open-air bath, and the view were excellent and satisfying. The room was clean and provided a comfortable space.

Overall satisfied.
Overall, I was satisfied, but the meals were underwhelming. Reservation: Premium [West Wing Special Room (with Onsen Open-Air Bath)] For meals, dinner featured our highest-grade "Takimoto Gozen," and breakfast included the premium set meal exclusive to the West Wing Special Room. While visually appealing, ingredients like Tokachi beef and horsehair crab were quite ordinary and not of high grade. As for breakfast, I had high expectations for the rice after enjoying the delicious kamameshi rice from dinner the previous evening. However, it seemed like reheated rice rather than freshly cooked; both its appearance and taste were disappointing, so I left most of it uneaten. The room amenities were excellent and very satisfying overall. If I may suggest one improvement for a more luxurious experience: upgrading the toothbrushes would make it perfect.

It was a wonderful memorable trip.
Although it is a large Ryokan, we had a satisfying stay. Some may express dissatisfaction, but perhaps they do not understand the differences in purpose and offerings between smaller, high-priced luxury accommodations and such large Ryokans. Personally, I use both types of accommodations depending on the occasion, but I could feel the continuous corporate efforts here, and the staff were working hard as well. For our family’s commemorative trip, we consulted with them in advance about various matters. Thanks to the reservation staff who kindly accommodated our requests, we had a wonderful trip for which we are very grateful. There was a questionnaire form in the room; however, as we were busy during checkout, I regret that I couldn’t leave my thanks and high evaluation at that time. Allow me to express my gratitude here once again.

Onsen Theme Park for Families
The interior has been renovated and is very clean throughout. We stayed in the main building, but the distance to the large public bath was far, making it quite challenging for a family member with mobility issues to move around in a wheelchair. The bath was spacious and felt like a theme park. We were also surprised by the number of foreign guests; it seemed there were fewer Japanese guests as we heard various languages such as Chinese, Korean, and English everywhere. The onsen water was so rich in minerals that it almost caused dizziness from overexposure. By the way, the view of Jigokudani from the men's large public bath was said to be spectacular. Unfortunately, there is no scenic view from the women's bath. Drinking onsen water was also possible and very delicious. Even tap water tasted great here! Meals for both breakfast and dinner were reasonably enjoyable. The complimentary drinks in the guest room refrigerator were much appreciated as well. There is also a pool available, making this accommodation an excellent choice for families with children. With its spacious souvenir shop, table tennis facilities, karaoke rooms, and more, this accommodation offers plenty of entertainment options within its premises for an enjoyable stay!

The Onsen is breathtaking.
I stayed with my pet, and the room was free of any pet odors and maintained cleanliness. It is the closest accommodation to Jigokudani, and I was very satisfied with the spacious public bath and the variety of bathtubs. The staff were friendly with smiles, but their actions were somewhat careless and unbalanced. I was particularly surprised when the person who prepared our bedding threw pillows, futons, and sheets in front of us while setting them up. Overall, considering the facility's cleanliness and other aspects, I am satisfied and would like to use this hotel again.

Meals
Overall, the experience was good, but the meals were disappointing (both dinner and breakfast). Despite being labeled as premium, they did not provide a sense of satisfaction. Especially for breakfast, I wished for warmer dishes. It felt like the food had been pre-prepared. A little extra effort would have been appreciated. Is this due to the chef's policy or perhaps a staff shortage? It was disappointing enough that I am considering staying at a different accommodation next time and only using the bath facilities for day-use.

This is the second time.
We stayed for one night with my wife's parents to celebrate both Respect for the Aged Day and our wedding anniversary. Last year, we stayed in the South Wing, but this time, the East Wing was even more beautiful. We had informed the staff in advance, and we were touched by their thoughtful gestures, including a message card and special chopstick holders with "Congratulations" written on them during dinner. Thank you to all the staff for your kindness. We look forward to staying again next year if we have the chance!

Beautiful Room and an Amazing Bath!
This was my first stay at Noboribetsu Onsen, and the room in the South Wing was very clean and comfortable. I thoroughly enjoyed both the baths and meals. The open-air bath was especially wonderful! Including the indoor baths, there were various types of hot spring water to enjoy, and it was delightful to soak while admiring the changing scenery from morning to night. I found myself visiting multiple baths during my stay. The meals, both breakfast and dinner, were delicious and left me feeling satisfied. However, one small regret is that the portion sizes were a bit too much for me and my mother, so we couldn’t finish all of our dinner. Since we dined in a private room, I also appreciated the beautiful paintings and pottery displayed in our room and along the hallways—it made walking around inside enjoyable as well. There were many international guests staying here, but seeing how efficiently they handled everything at reception gave me peace of mind. I would love to stay here again if given another opportunity!

The End of Summer Vacation
I stayed here last year, but not in the corner suite, so I was looking forward to it this time. The corner room does have a nice view, but being right above the roof is a bit disappointing when standing up. It's better not to expect something like overseas corner suites... The buffet meals are quite average with nothing particularly special. After staying for two nights, I found myself getting a bit bored. The Onsen is very nice, but I'm unsure if I would stay again. I was surprised that the TV in the room doesn't have BS channels. I was looking forward to watching the Nippon-Ham Fighters game while in Hokkaido, but couldn't watch it during both nights... very disappointing.

Overall satisfied, but just a few disappointments.
Overall, I was satisfied with my stay, but there were some disappointing aspects that I would like to share. First, I arrived at the Hotel before the check-in time and asked a nearby foreign staff member if they could store my luggage. However, there was no guidance at all, and I had no idea what to do. They didn’t say anything like “Please leave your luggage here” and just silently watched. Unless I asked questions myself, they wouldn’t respond. Additionally, since I had made a reservation for a plan that included admission to Noboribetsu Date Jidaimura, I asked the same foreign staff member how to enter the village: “I’ve reserved a plan for Noboribetsu Date Jidaimura and already paid for the ticket as part of the plan. How can I enter?” For some reason, they instructed me to purchase tickets again. Even after explaining three times that the ticket fee was already included in my plan, they didn’t understand and kept asking me to pay again. Since communication wasn’t working well, I requested assistance from a Japanese staff member. A Japanese staff member came out from behind the front desk and handled everything smoothly. It turned out that there was no need to pay for tickets; all we needed to do was go to the ticket counter and provide our name. As someone who also works in hospitality myself, speaking from an industry perspective—there seems to be inconsistency in training among staff members. In fact, when we returned in the evening for check-in assistance from another foreign staff member on duty at that time—their explanation was clear with friendly service which left us impressed! The difference between individual team members stood out significantly (perhaps due shifts being divided into morning/evening teams). Regardless though knowledge gaps reflect poorly overall impressions hence should addressed accordingly! While morning experience left disappointment rest stay exceeded expectations seafood dinner absolutely delicious Onsen relaxing enjoyable too! Understand challenges involved training international employees wish continued success improving services

Sake served in a wooden cup at the open-air bath
The large number and spaciousness of the Onsen are very appealing. There are both hot and lukewarm options, making it family-friendly. The highlight was being able to enjoy drinks in the open-air bath. Floating a tray with sake on the water was a unique and delightful experience. Although this visit was in summer, I imagine enjoying sake while watching snow would be even more enchanting. While there is no issue with the accommodation itself, it was unfortunate that there were many guests from China wherever we went, and dining next to them at meal venues felt noisy, which made it less enjoyable. It would be appreciated if some measures could be considered for this situation.

World-renowned!!
The guest rooms and meals were absolutely satisfying. The only concern, which might be unavoidable, was that some areas of the public bath floor were slippery and seemed untreated. This could pose a risk of slipping and falling for some guests. It would be great if measures such as anti-slip treatments, restricted access to slippery areas, or clearer signage could be implemented to address this issue. Overall, I was very satisfied!

Both adults and children will be fully satisfied.
This historic accommodation has been renovated and is very clean. Although there are many rooms, I thought the onsen might be crowded, but it was very spacious inside with a variety of onsen options, making it comfortable at any time. The changing room for the onsen is also connected to the pool, allowing children to play even before check-in, which was great. My child said they would love to stay here again, so we look forward to visiting again when we go to Noboribetsu.

A wheelchair for use in the bathroom is available.
I planned this trip for my mother's 75th birthday. Since she has a second-degree disability, I made various requests to the reservation staff over the phone in advance, such as arranging parking space for the car, an extra bed, a birthday message, and a birthday cake. I am grateful that all of these were kindly accommodated. As mentioned in the title, I was deeply impressed to find a wheelchair for bath assistance prepared in the changing room of the large public bath! While there are many onsen with handrails and slopes, having an assistance wheelchair available allowed us as onsen lovers to enjoy multiple baths during our stay. Additionally, there were slopes inside the bath area itself that enabled movement with a wheelchair up to the bathtub. As for areas of improvement, adding anti-slip processing to both the slope in the bathing area and handrails around bathtubs would make it even safer for use. Also, there was slight inconvenience when using elevators within hotel facilities. For these reasons and because staff entered our room despite declining cleaning services and futon arrangements during our multiple night stay—this surprised us—I rated it 4 stars instead of 5 stars. The buffet meals were enjoyable without becoming repetitive even during our extended stay and contributed greatly to making my mother’s birthday memorable and delightful. Thank you very much to all staff members who supported us throughout this special occasion!

Close to Noboribetsu Jigokudani with a strong sulfur scent. The bath was excellent, the meals were satisfying, and the Room was perfect. I felt like visiting again.

Highly satisfied!
The bath and meals were great. The room had some dust in the gaps, which made it feel slightly less clean. The large public bath was far away, which could be challenging for elderly guests.
