    The view was wonderful.

    I was worried about the age since it’s over 30 years old, but thanks to major renovations it was clean enough. The long coastline could be seen all at once, and it felt wonderful. The staff were courteous, and I was able to relax in the lounge as well. The Italian food was delicious, and the breakfast buffet was more than sufficient. What surprised me most was the private bath—if it’s available, you can use it for one hour. Gazing at the moon and stars, soothed by the sound of insects, feeling the pleasant night breeze, with the gentle tones of a shishi-odoshi in harmony—it felt like such a luxurious time. I never expected to have an experience like this at a Hotel, so I was very happy. Highly recommended.

    The sunrise over the sea was beautiful.

    We stayed here for our wedding anniversary trip. While the exterior does feel a bit dated, the guest room was spacious, and we were very satisfied to be able to see the sunrise over the sea. We used the Onsen, and while it was great, it was quite far from our room—so far that we felt we might get chilled on the way back in winter. The buffet offered a good variety and was delicious, but the Japanese-style breakfast had limited options, and unfortunately the eel we wanted to try was sold out.

    Bath

    I’ve stayed here many times. Everyone was happy with the spacious Room we had for the first time. However, the bath is still quite far away. The food was delicious, and the rice balls and croissants were especially good. I’d definitely like to visit again.

    It was even better than I expected.

    It was pouring rain, it was a one-night stay, and the price was in the 9,000-yen range, so I went in without high expectations, thinking it might be old. However, both the Room and the bathroom/toilet were spacious. The lobby area felt like a Hawaiian Resort Hotel, and the corridor leading to the Onsen Facility reminded me of Bali—I truly enjoyed my stay. I imagine it’s not easy to maintain a property of this size, but there are very few Hotels in Japan where you can experience such a strong resort atmosphere, so I hope you keep it up. Next time I’d like to bring my family.

    I stayed here on my first trip to Miyazaki. It was a bit disappointing that the facilities felt somewhat old, but the breakfast buffet was delicious, the Onsen was excellent, and the staff were very kind. Overall I was satisfied and would like to stay again. However, there was one very disappointing issue. I used the gym. There were a few other guests as well, and one person was using the machines while making loud clanging noises... Then they even started talking on the phone while using the equipment. It was too much to ignore, so I asked a staff member to speak with them. On my way out, I learned from that staff member that this gym is also a members-only gym, and the person on the phone was a gym member. That explained why they seemed hesitant when warning them. Please ensure basic etiquette is followed in the gym, as it’s not pleasant to use otherwise. That part was very disappointing, but the Hotel itself was very good.

    Club Lounge Multiple Night Stay Golf

    We enjoyed golf during our Multiple Night Stay. Both the Room and the lounge were comfortable. The Hyuganatsu craft beer was delicious. Unfortunately, the Italian restaurant on the top floor of the tower was underwhelming in both taste and presentation. It was at a level that made us feel independent restaurants in town are definitely better.

    This is different from when it was at the Sheraton.

    I made this Reservation for my nephew’s family visiting the area. It used to be a Sheraton, and I knew it had changed to a different company, but I didn’t realize there would be a charge even for infants under Child Sharing Existing Bedding. I found out the day before when checking the Reservation, which caught me off guard. Fortunately, they seemed satisfied with the Room again this time, just like their previous stay.

    The top recommended Hotel in Miyazaki

    It was a Hotel with a wonderful resort atmosphere. The Room was spacious and comfortable. For breakfast, we chose Japanese cuisine on the first night and the buffet on the second night, and we really enjoyed the delicious Miyazaki specialties. We would love to stay again.

    It was a wonderful Hotel with a great resort atmosphere, but there were also a few things that concerned me.

    The twin-bed Room we stayed in had two nursing-care beds. The bathroom also appeared to have fixtures intended for guests with disabilities. I had just lost my elderly parents, so sleeping in a care-oriented setup was extremely upsetting for me. My husband, who is not in that situation, also said it felt uncomfortable and unpleasant. I wish this had been clearly indicated at the time of Reservation, and I also would have appreciated a brief explanation at check-in. The Room door slid sideways, and there was a very spacious entry area wide enough for a wheelchair, which made it feel very similar to a care facility. Anyone familiar with such setups would recognize it immediately, so I was disappointed. I understand that lower prices on IKYU may come with some trade-offs, but staying in a care-spec bed and Room requires mental preparation. After this experience, it makes me hesitant to use IKYU again. In the future, please present Room types clearly. What I did like: we stayed only one night, and the café was lovely; all staff members were kind and truly helped lift my spirits. We had breakfast at the café—it was bright, stylish, and comfortable—and the bread was delicious. There was also a study-like space at the back of the café where you could write a letter to your future self years later. I was surprised to find such a stylish experience available here. After breakfast we went to an area near the outdoor bar where you could roast marshmallows over an open flame; many beautiful flowers were blooming around us, and we had a great time. Every staff member we interacted with—the bar team, café team, front desk staff, the person who brought our luggage to our Room, and the person near the self-checkout machine—was smiling and kind throughout. It felt like this Hotel has an excellent team. Regarding the Onsen: there are two baths; we went to the larger one. Unfortunately it was quite far from our Room—there was a long walk just to reach the entrance of the large public bath area. When I opened the door toward what seemed to be an open-air bath (rotenburo), I saw there was still quite some distance before reaching the tub itself and decided not to go in after all. If access to the large bath area or even just that distance out to rotenburo could be shortened—or made to feel shorter through better design—I might consider returning. The corridor is too dark and hard to see; it could be brighter. You are supposed to remove your shoes at the entrance of that bath area as well, but because it is dimly lit it felt unclear where/when to do so. Since getting from our Room to that bath took time once already, I didn’t feel like going again for morning bathing next day—which was disappointing."""

    Golden Week Stay

    We stayed as a family during Golden Week. What stood out most was how pleasant and welcoming the staff were. The Facility is about 30 years old, so there were a few areas that felt a bit dated. We had dinner at Hyugaumi. The staff’s guidance and explanations were excellent, and we were very satisfied with both the flavors and the beautifully presented dishes served on carefully chosen tableware. We had breakfast at Pine Terrace. We arrived at 7:30 a.m., and the wait time was about 30 minutes. The rice balls seemed especially popular. I highly recommend using the Onsen Facility. Sauna enthusiasts may find the sauna slightly underwhelming. Overall, it was a wonderful Hotel that made us want to come back again. Thank you very much.

    My expectations were too high.

    Getting to and from the airport or train station was very inconvenient, and it was difficult to go anywhere.

    Everything you need is provided.

    Although the outdoor parking meant getting wet in the rain, check-in at the Club Lounge on the 36th floor and using the lounge were excellent. The view from the Room was great, and the amenities were well stocked. The downsides were that it takes more than five minutes to walk to the open-air bath, and the bath changing area felt old. The shops are very well stocked and fun, and all of the staff are very kind. It’s a Hotel that makes you want to stay again.

    The facilities are excellent.

    The Facility seems old, but it was clean. At night, the poolside is lit up and looks beautiful, and with so many foreigners around, it almost feels like Hawaii (lol). There were many breakfast options and everything was delicious—I ate too much and couldn’t eat lunch (lol). However, what was a bit disappointing was the staff’s service. The restaurant reception staff didn’t greet us, and other staff we passed also didn’t greet us. They would respond if we greeted them first, but it was still disappointing. Even when we were leaving and carrying our luggage to the parking lot, they were chatting and didn’t say hello. Disappointing.

    Please improve only the Onsen for caterpillars.

    There were some good points, such as the view and the meals. However, there was a large infestation of caterpillars in the open-air bath, which made it impossible to relax, so I would like this to be improved. During the day they were visible, but at night, while sitting on a chair, a large caterpillar suddenly appeared near my feet, which was truly unpleasant.

    It was wonderful. I’ll definitely come again.

    A long-overdue trip to Miyazaki from a neighboring prefecture. This is a Hotel I’d been wanting to visit for a long time. The building itself must be old, but it’s kept very clean. We used the separate Onsen bath, and the open-air bath had a wonderful view. There was also a mini fridge in the changing room, so we could relax and take our time. Unfortunately, the weather was on and off with light rain. When we walked from the Onsen reception to the separate bath it wasn’t raining, but the staff member who guided us kindly prepared an umbrella just in case, so we didn’t get wet. Even though we weren’t blessed with good weather, the illuminated pool area and the bonfire were very soothing. There were various shops downstairs, and members get 10% OFF, so we bought all our souvenirs there. The Room was clean, breakfast at Arco was delicious, and the Onsen was great—overall we were very satisfied with this Hotel. This time we booked a Plan with breakfast only, but next time I’d like to choose one with two meals included and also visit the bar. We talked about coming back again this year or next year as well.

    I stay here every year.

    It’s been 20 years since we first stayed in a cottage with our beloved dog, and this is our 9th year at Phoenix Seagaia Ocean Tower. The Hotel changed its name last year, but I’m happy that the wonderful staff have remained the same. Every restaurant serves delicious food, and I ended up eating too much every day (lol). The view from the window is also amazing. I use the amenities and the pillow fitting & pillow loan service every time, and when I arrive at my Room, they have my usual pillow ready without me having to say anything—so comfortable. This year I also used the Club Floor lounge, and it had been upgraded even further. The beer from the afternoon we arrived was especially good. Our dog loves Seagaia too, so we’ll be back again next year.

    Staying with Infants and Toddlers

    I stayed here because my parents had spoken highly of it when the Hotel first opened, and I thought I’d stay if I ever visited Miyazaki. Although decades have passed and there are signs of age here and there, it still felt clean overall—but the bathroom was extremely inconvenient. In particular, the old-style faucet for filling the tub wouldn’t run hot water unless I turned it twice (was it broken?), and when it did come out, it was scalding hot—risk of burns. Mixing with cold water made it too cold, while using more hot water made it too hot, so adjusting the temperature was difficult. The shower booth had a newer mixer tap, so that was fine. I had both breakfast and dinner in the Hotel, but there was a wait to enter the breakfast venue; even after getting in, it was crowded and the live kitchen had very long lines. I lined up for rice balls and ordered for my child and myself, but was told, “Three pieces?” Should I have queued again twice? With how crowded it was, maybe I should have gone back to Hyuga Sea instead… In the end, I left on the final day feeling oddly unsettled.

    Thank you very much for taking such wonderful care of us during our stay. Even though we changed our reservation several times due to IKYU’s time sales and other offers, you still remembered that it was our son’s birthday as we mentioned at the beginning. We were truly delighted to find chocolates prepared in our Room, and a birthday dessert plate arranged at dinner... Also, although my husband caused trouble by breaking a glass at breakfast, you were most concerned about whether he was injured above all else... We are deeply grateful for your thoughtful kindness. Thank you very much. I believe this kind of immediate response is possible only because it is something you always keep in mind. We truly felt genuine hospitality. This time we stayed on the Club Floor. It was a family trip for the first time in a while—just one night—but we were able to relax and enjoy the Club Lounge as well. We also wrote letters to our future selves... We will definitely visit again.

    The Hyuga Sea is wonderful.

    We had hoped to dine at Hyugaumi after it reopened, but it was fully booked. We relaxed in the lounge, and we really appreciated being contacted as soon as a table became available. The à la carte menu was also very helpful for an older couple like us. Everything was truly delicious, and we were able to enjoy our meal at a leisurely pace. When we stayed three years ago, both loungewear and a samue were provided in the Room, but this time only loungewear was available. We were shown the rental option and requested it, but the item felt overly worn (the elastic was loose), making us wonder whether it should be offered as a rental at all. Since we were on a Multiple Night Stay, we had little choice but to rent it and wore it anyway, which was disappointing. We also noticed several guests moving around the property in loungewear; we hope for practical improvements. From next time, we will bring our own.

    It was an anniversary trip.

    When we got married at Miyazaki Shrine 30 years ago, my wife and I said we wanted to stay at Seagaia for our pearl wedding anniversary. We did exactly that, and it turned into an even better anniversary trip than we expected! The Room was spotless, and the amenities were excellent. We had dinner in town, but the breakfast buffet was also very satisfying! My wife enjoyed it so much that she keeps asking, “So when’s next time? When?”

    I stayed alone for a change of pace. The room service was delicious, and the staff were kind. Unfortunately, it rained during my stay, but I’d like to visit again with my family when the weather is nice.

    A Treat for Yourself

    I visited the sushi restaurant again for the first time in a while since going before last year’s renovation. The food was just as delicious as ever. I would like to visit again. However, my breakfast voucher was not included at check-in, so I had to stop by the counter in the morning to get it, which was somewhat inconvenient. Disappointing.

    It was a very pleasant stay. If possible, I would appreciate it if you could upgrade the hair dryers in the large public bath to more functional ones by my next visit.

    The Facility, amenities, and staff were excellent!

    The Facility and the Room were both excellent. The staff at check-in were also very helpful, and we were able to enter the Room comfortably. However, the Onsen changing room felt too small for the number of Rooms in the Hotel, and many guests were waiting for a basket to change clothes, which made it feel rushed. Although you can check crowd levels on the website, it did not match the actual situation. It is a Facility where we would like to stay again as a family for a Multiple Night Stay.

    Spectacular views

    It was my first stay in a while since the renovation, and the view overlooking the Hyuga-nada Sea was wonderful, making for a very pleasant stay. However, the breakfast venue around 8:00 was crowded and the wait time was long; it would be helpful to add more dining space or make improvements. As a resort Hotel, the Accommodation rate is very reasonable, and I would like to stay here again.

    Spacious throughout.

    Both the building and the Room are luxurious and flawless. However, for older guests who do not use the Hotel activities, the sheer size can be tiring. The bath area in particular was extremely far away, and despite that it was small, which was disappointing. Still, everything except the bath was outstanding. From the Room, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Nichinan Coast and never tire of it.

    Hyugaumi Japanese Cuisine is amazing!

    We requested a Room near the elevator for my elderly mother and aunt, and it was arranged exactly as hoped. Thank you also for upgrading our Room. On the first day, the Miyazaki beef at Teppanyaki Fukami was delicious. On the second day, the Japanese meal at Hyugaumi was wonderful and tasted great. We would like to visit Seagaia again just for dining at Hyugaumi. The only drawbacks were that, because of the large grounds, it is quite far to the large public bath, and that if there were a Japanese set breakfast option (instead of only a buffet), it would provide more choices for a Multiple Night Stay. (Due to our age, we can’t eat a large amount in the morning, and buffets feel rushed and not very relaxing.) P.S. Since this is a Review, I rechecked our Plan afterward and found that Hyugaumi apparently included one complimentary drink. As we were not informed, it was disappointing that we ordered separately.
