    The most favorite Onsen Accommodation I have stayed at so far.

    The meals, the room, the private Onsen, and even the Onsen in the room were all excellent. Although it is a traditional Ryokan, it was impeccably clean. The staff provided exceptionally polite service, which was wonderful. I suffer from severe insomnia, but for some reason, I was able to sleep soundly that day. There is nothing to complain about. It was very comfortable, and I would love to visit again.

    I stayed for two nights while visiting my family for a grave visit. The Onsen, as well as the food, hospitality, and the overall atmosphere, brought me peace. Thank you very much.

    A property with both excellent onsen and cuisine.

    Bessho Onsen itself is a quaint onsen town, and Bessho Onsen Station, the terminus of the Ueda Electric Railway, has quite a hidden gem feel. There are almost no inbound tourists (not completely absent), making it free from hustle and bustle, allowing for a very relaxing stay overall. At Kashiwaya-san, we stayed in a room with an open-air bath attached. The size of the room and bath was just right, and the quality of the onsen water was soft, leaving our skin glowing. However, there was a slightly corroded part on the floor of the open-air bath in our room. It wasn't an issue as it was at the edge but if corrosion spreads further repairs might be necessary eventually. The cuisine featured menus that valued seasonal sensations; additionally ordered "Iwana no Honezake" (grilled char immersed in hot sake) was exquisite! We were told we could take out and eat Iwana without hesitation; however, it would have been even better if salt or something similar had been provided separately for Iwana consumption. (We used leftover salt from when we had tempura to sprinkle over Iwana.) Despite various comments made here regarding hospitality such as customer service being attentive towards guests' needs were truly outstanding indeed! If given another opportunity would love visiting again someday soon!

    Kashiwaya Honten

    I stayed with my elderly parents and, although we made various selfish requests and caused some inconvenience, the hotel staff responded with smiles without a single unpleasant expression, making it a very pleasant trip. I am very satisfied. Above all, I think this property is wonderful because of the thoughtfulness of the staff. Thank you very much.

    It was a very comfortable Stays.

    I stayed to celebrate my retirement. Bessho Onsen was not on my radar, but unlike flashy tourist spots, it was quiet and very lovely. The staff's hospitality was excellent, and I was satisfied with the meals. Although it was a cold season, the onsen kept me warm for a long time and was very comfortable. I think it would have been better if there were regular towels instead of paper towels in the room's washroom and toilet. Next time, I would like to stay in a room with a bed.

    An Elegant Stay

    The room did not have a bath, but since there are few rooms, the bath was almost private. Meals were also in a private room, so there was no interaction with other guests. The food was delicious, but I couldn't finish it. Since the room is in a separate building, the downside is having to go outside in the cold to get to meals or the large public bath. I plan to come again when it's not cold. The service was good, and the overall rating is high.

    This was our third time staying at Kashiwaya Honten. As always, I think it's a great Hotel. The meals were delicious. The char fish bone sake and the cake were also excellent. Both of us are not fond of oysters, but even though we hadn't informed them in advance, we were able to eat them. However, the temperature of the open-air bath in the Room was low, and as someone who likes hot baths, it felt lukewarm to me. I wish I had asked how to adjust the temperature. We'll visit again.

    A Ryokan that makes you want to visit again

    I was deeply moved by the welcome at the first check-in. My expectations were raised from there, and during my 2-night, 3-day stay, I felt a lot of hospitality from the staff, making it a place I definitely want to visit again. I had breakfast and dinner twice each, and everything was delicious with just the right amount. If I may say, it would be nice to have some cutlery and plates in the Room, and I was a little concerned that the restrooms on the dining floor and entrance were located in the same area for both men and women. However, there were many more points of great satisfaction, and I was able to spend my time comfortably. I used it to celebrate my partner's birthday, and it was truly a great choice. Thank you very much!

    A property where you can warm up with people and hot water.

    This was a property with exceptionally kind staff. When I called to confirm some details, the response was warm and courteous, which made me feel at ease about my visit. Not only did they see us off when we left, but they also somehow greeted us outside when we returned. However, it wasn't overbearing, and the service was refined and pleasant. I was a bit worried about the layout with many windows (as a famous property I stayed at before was cold), but I never felt cold anywhere in the property, not just in the room. The temperature of the open-air bath in the room was just right, and although I was concerned about the cold, I enjoyed the bath without any issues. Since we stayed in an annex, we had to walk outside briefly for meals and baths. This might be a bit unpleasant if it rains, but the weather was fine this time, so it wasn't a concern. There are four baths, including those that switch usage. The cypress bathtub was a bit slippery, so please be careful. The meals were reasonably tasty, but it's hard to say if they were impressive. I hoped there would be at least one memorable dish. However, the kindness of the staff and the quality of the hot springs surpassed that. Waking up to the sound of the bell from Kitamuki Kannon is a luxury. Despite being within walking distance from the station, the shuttle service is available regardless of check-in or check-out times, which is appreciated. This is a property I would like to visit again.

    Bessho Onsen after 30 years

    I visited Kashiwaya Honten for the first time. It is a prestigious and charming old Ryokan, yet very comfortable. The entire facility, including the rooms, was meticulously clean. Both dinner and breakfast featured seasonal Kaiseki cuisine, which was excellent. Since I live near Izu and Hakone, I visit luxury Ryokans in the vicinity 3 to 4 times a year, and I think the chef at Kashiwaya Honten is exceptionally skilled. And, of course, when it comes to Bessho Onsen, the hot spring water, 100% from the source, penetrates the body. I am planning a Multiple Night Stay soon and hope to have a more relaxing stay next time.

    It was a wonderful space with every possible amenity.

    We stayed as a family during the New Year. The food was very delicious, and there was attention to detail in the pottery and chopsticks used, making it a pleasant dining experience. The several large baths were not crowded, allowing us to relax. Above all, it was a wonderful space with staff who were always willing to assist and provided a courteous send-off. Due to its popularity, advance reservation is essential, especially during the year-end and New Year period, so we hope to stay again next year.

    It was the best time.

    It was a very satisfying trip. From the reception staff to the meal servers, everything was handled perfectly, making it a very satisfying experience. The meals were delicious, and it was great to enjoy several types of Onsen. I would definitely recommend it to friends and family.

    First time at Bessho Onsen

    I often visit Nagano, but this was my first visit to Bessho Onsen. The quality of the Onsen water was very good, and I enjoyed touring the baths, including the large public bath, private bath, and the open-air bath in the room. The meal was a complete choice mistake, largely my responsibility, as I chose the Shinshu Wagyu Special Kaiseki Plan, which resulted in an all-meat course that I got tired of halfway through... It was the season for delicious matsutake mushrooms, and I should have opted for the upgraded kaiseki plan in the same price range. That said, both dinner and breakfast were delicious. The only slight dissatisfaction was that the private dining room was on the farthest 3rd floor of the main building, making it difficult to move up and down the stairs. The service was impeccable. Overall, it was a satisfying stay, and I would like to visit again in a different season if I have the opportunity. Thank you for your hospitality.

    It was a very satisfying Stays.

    I stayed in a room with an open-air onsen bath, and it was truly the best stay. The room's bath was, of course, wonderful, and the large public bath and private baths were also excellent, providing great satisfaction wherever I went. With a limited number of guest rooms and rooms with open-air and indoor baths, the large public bath was not crowded, allowing for a very comfortable experience. The meals were also impressive, with both breakfast and dinner being exquisite and meticulously prepared. Each dish was crafted with care and creativity, which was evident in the taste. Furthermore, the staff's service was very courteous and pleasant, allowing for a comfortable stay throughout. I am really glad I stayed here. I definitely want to visit again!

    Simple yet satisfying!

    Since it is a property with a history of over 100 years, I think the open-air bath was added to the room later, which caused some inconvenience, such as the shower (washing area) being separated and the flow not being very good. However, the onsen with natural hot spring water was very pleasant, and I had a satisfying stay. The meals were not flashy like those at recent stays, but each dish was very delicious, and I was very satisfied both in the morning and evening!

    We were very satisfied with our family trip with our parents and sister.

    We visited to enjoy the open-air onsen bath and delicious seasonal kaiseki cuisine. We were very satisfied with our stay, the hot water, and the delicious food that filled us up. The seasonal persimmon shiraae was particularly delicious. This is a property we would like to visit again in a different season. If there are any points for improvement, they would be the following three: 1. It would be more relaxing if all explanations about the private bath were given in the room upon arrival, which would also shorten the guidance time. A clear guide in the room would suffice. 2. The toilet door in the room we used this time lacked cushioning, making the metallic sound of the lock quite loud. 3. It was inconvenient that the room's open-air bath and shower area were separated, and there was no place to change clothes. We hope this can be improved. Although there were some requests, overall, it was a wonderful onsen property.

    The bath is nice!

    After all, Bessho Onsen has the best water. The scent of the onsen is not too strong, and it has a distinct onsen aroma that makes you happy. Also, the sake was delicious. It was a property that makes you want to come again.

    An inn near Kitamuki Kannon

    I stayed with my mother and siblings. This is my second time using the Property. The service was polite and very relaxing. The amenities were not very good, but both the Room bath and the large public bath were nice. The food was delicious, but perhaps because my expectations were high, I felt it was better during my previous Stays.

    The best hospitality

    The location next to Hokumon Kannon, where you can visit in about 20 seconds, was excellent. The warm and truly sophisticated hospitality of all the staff was even more outstanding. The advice on the itinerary for the next day was accurate and wonderful. Thank you very much. I would like to repeat my stay.

    After arriving at th...

    After arriving at the Stays, I asked about recommended spots such as Anrakuji and Jorakuji, and received courteous assistance. Since time was tight, they kindly drove us there, and provided detailed information about local sake and apple orchards, which was more than I could have asked for. We were also pleased with the commemorative photo for our 40th wedding anniversary. Thank you for a pleasant time.

    Very good Stays.

    We stayed as a couple on a weekday before the long holiday, as it is close to my hometown. It was a very quiet property, allowing us to relax. The building has character, the room was spacious and clean, the food was delicious, and the service was consistently attentive from arrival to departure. The bath is small, but it also has the charm of a typical onsen property. It may be too much praise, but having such a property might raise the evaluation of Bessho Onsen itself. In a good way, it's a property that we don't want to be too widely known.

    It was a trip with my relatively elderly parents, but the hospitality of the Stays staff was excellent, especially the person who seemed to be in charge was wonderful, and everyone was satisfied with the trip. Although it is an old Facility, it seems that regular maintenance is likely carried out, and we did not feel any inconvenience.

    Enjoyed Matsutake

    I wanted to eat matsutake mushrooms, so I stayed here again in less than two months. Every dish included matsutake mushrooms. The charcoal-grilled matsutake was splendid and the best. Of course, the room, the bath, and the staff who took care of us were all excellent. Next time, I will visit during the fresh green season.

    It is a very lovely ryokan.

    I used it for the first time. It was a hot spring inn that I was very satisfied with in every aspect. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. Since checkout is at 12 o'clock, you can take your time. The food was elegant and delicious. During my stay, I felt the staff's attentiveness everywhere and had a pleasant time.     Delicious and filling

    This was my first visit. I already knew that I could enjoy a full course of autumn delicacy, matsutake mushrooms, in the vicinity of this inn, but I was delighted to find that I could also enjoy a full course at this inn. The dishes were prepared using various cooking methods and served in different forms, making them very delicious and filling. The hot springs were also very pleasant. There were two large public baths, a private bath, and of course, a hot spring in the room. The well-equipped room allowed me to relax completely. I would love to visit again if I have the opportunity, especially during the season of this autumn delicacy.

    Once again, I had a pleasant stay. The staff and meals were excellent, allowing me to have a wonderful time. This time, I enjoyed a variety of delicious matsutake mushroom dishes, which I always look forward to, and it was an even more delightful experience. The bath (shower) water was back to its previous state, leaving my skin smooth without irritation, which was very pleasant. If I may be a bit demanding, I felt that having the shower and the open-air bath closer, or ideally next to each other, would make it more convenient and comfortable to soak in the bath. Also, the shampoo and other items in the shower room are too low, making them difficult to use, so I think a hanging shelf or something similar would make them more accessible. Anyway, thank you always for the wonderful time. The hot days continue, and every day is quite challenging, but please take care of yourselves and stay healthy.
