    The concept of auberge

The meals, both dinner and breakfast, were very delicious and satisfying, but the customer service was somewhat disappointing. On my first solo trip, I opened the door with feelings of excitement and nervousness, only to find the front desk unattended. There was a woman attending to someone who had arrived earlier, but she only glanced at me and continued her conversation without acknowledging me. It might have been just a minute or two, but the time I stood there felt very long. After a while, I was finally invited in with a "Please come this way," but I was not greeted with a welcome, which left me a bit puzzled as I sat at the table I was shown to. I brushed it off, thinking the staff might not be familiar with the basics of customer service. However, during dinner, the explanation of the dishes was purely procedural, and I did not feel any sense of hospitality. I went on this solo trip to relax, hoping to enjoy a bit of conversation with the staff during meals, but at this hotel, everyone seemed very busy, and my attempts at conversation were met with simple responses like "Yes, that's right." I even said, "The food is delicious," but... Since an auberge is primarily a restaurant, I understood that there is no need for hospitality, and the focus is on serving the dishes at the best timing. The food was very delicious, the Onsen was pleasant, and the Room was spacious enough, allowing me to relax, but I am considering not repeating my stay.

After all, French cuisine is at Le Temps.

We visited as a couple. We are both food enthusiasts, but when it comes to French cuisine, we've decided to enjoy it at Le Temps. It's amazing that they offer such high-quality dishes at this price range. It's a bit early, but we look forward to visiting again next year.

    It was my first stay...

It was my first stay in 25 years. Considering the price, it was a disappointing trip. I understood that there was only one onsen, but it was inconvenient not to be able to bathe freely due to overlapping with other guests. The number of dishes at meals was also lacking. At reception, even though it was clear that I was using a cane, there was no assistance, and I had to carry my suitcase up the steep stairs myself. What would have happened if I had fallen down the stairs? On the way back, a cleaning lady kindly helped me down to the first floor. I was grateful because I was anxious about going down, but how is this acceptable for a hotel?

    First Stay at an Auberge

Thank you very much for your hospitality. We usually enjoy Japanese cuisine and only have French cuisine once every few years, but we had a wonderfully relaxing time. You carefully considered our preferences, even though we are not familiar with wine, and introduced us to a truly delicious one. As someone who loves vegetables, I was delighted by the fresh produce from your garden. The handmade dressing, jam, and even the panda beans were all so impressive that words cannot fully express my gratitude. My husband, who prefers sushi restaurants and is not fond of abalone, surprised me by saying that the abalone served here was "the best I've ever had." The explanation of the cooking method made me realize how skilled preparation can elevate flavors to such an extent. The venison dishes featuring two different cuts were tender and completely free of any gamey taste. Despite being incredibly full, I found myself finishing every last bite of the cookies at the end—they were just too good to resist! The Room was spacious and comfortable. In the morning, we could see Mount Fuji peeking through our window—a delightful sight to wake up to. The private open-air bath available during vacant times was spacious, warm, and very relaxing. Although timing its availability required some attention on our part, we managed to use it twice during our stay. It was also heartwarming that other guests seemed considerate enough to keep both the changing area and bath clean. From service to ambiance to cuisine—everything felt so pleasant throughout our stay. Thank you very much!

An auberge worth visiting Izu Kogen just to stay here.

It was an auberge that made me feel it was worth coming to Izu Kogen just to stay here. The main dishes were not the usual fish & meat course menu, but each dish was visually and tastefully surprising and exciting. Especially the breakfast, where the main dish was warm vegetables with bouillon soup poured over them, was a first-time experience for me among the many Hotel and Ryokan breakfasts I've had. Surprisingly, the private Onsen bath had a solid spring quality and was very comfortable. The white deposits on the bath faucet gave a strong sense of a genuine Onsen. Although you may not always be able to enter at your preferred time, it was a very luxurious time to soak in the water without worrying about others. Even though the Room was spacious enough for two people, with four windows, it didn't feel cramped at all. Overall, it was a wonderful Property that also served as a restaurant. Highly recommended for seasoned travelers.
