We had a wonderful stay in the Premium Suite at Mojiko!
For our Kyushu girls’ trip, we chose Mojiko—introduced to us through “Convenience Store Brothers”—as our final-day destination and stayed in the Premium Suite at Premium Hotel. From the moment we stepped into the Room, we were thrilled by the panoramic view of Mojiko right in front of us and the spacious, comfortable Room! After enjoying carefully selected drinks, cheese, and finger foods at the exclusive lounge Tempo, we finally fulfilled our wish to walk across the Kanmon Straits, then took a ferry back to right in front of the Hotel. It’s worth staying here for this Hotel alone! Next time, we’d love to enjoy a meal at one of the Hotel’s restaurants as well.

The view was amazing.
My first time in Mojiko. It was a charming retro Hotel in a small, nostalgic port town. The Room had a wonderful view of the Kanmon Straits, and it was perfect to spend a relaxing afternoon on the sofa by the window. Staying for two nights meant I could take an early-morning walk around town before dawn, visit Mekari Park after breakfast to look up at the Kanmon Bridge from directly below, and enjoy evening strolls while watching the Kanmon Straits at dusk as the sea breeze cooled things down. Even in hot July, I had a great time exploring on foot. Although the building and Facility show their age, the Room was kept very clean, and the air conditioning worked well, so I stayed comfortably. The breakfast buffet had plenty of salads and fruit too, and I left feeling full. I also enjoyed taking my time admiring the sunset views over the straits from the top-floor club lounge—overall, it was a very satisfying stay.

This is a highly recommended Hotel in Mojiko Retro.
In July, I stayed for two nights in both the Premier Deluxe Twin Room and the Premier Kanmon Strait Deluxe Twin Room. Both Rooms had excellent bathroom facilities, including a separate washing area in the bath, and were very well equipped. The Rooms were also spacious enough at around 37 m². The views were wonderful: from the Premier Deluxe Twin Room, I could see the Kanmon Bridge, the bascule bridge, and part of the retro district. From the Premier Kanmon Strait Deluxe Twin Room, I could enjoy views of the Kanmon Strait, the Kanmon Bridge, and the night scenery of Shimonoseki across the water—equally beautiful. If you choose a Room based on the view, both are outstanding; it truly feels like a luxurious dilemma. I also had breakfast—there was a great selection of Kyushu ingredients, and even the desserts were delicious. Sparkling wine as well. I used the lounge too; it was nice, though I felt it would be even better with a bit more variety in snacks. The Facility may not be brand-new, but everything was extremely well maintained and cleaned, making my stay very comfortable. The Hotel staff provided truly excellent service. It was my first time visiting Mojiko Retro for 2 nights and 3 days, and thanks to this wonderful Hotel (and great weather), it became an incredibly enjoyable trip. Thank you to all of your Hotel staff. A highly recommended Hotel in Mojiko Retro.

My elderly mother was delighted.
The Room had a classic interior, and every piece of furniture and accessory was stylish—truly wonderful. The lounge was also calm and relaxing, with many older couples. It would have been even better if we could have enjoyed whisky after 9:00 p.m., even for an additional fee. The Italian dinner was great, especially the appetizers. I also appreciated the leisurely breakfast and late checkout time. This is a Hotel to enjoy as a stay in itself—not just a place to sleep.

I stayed in the Premier Kanmon Strait Suite and was surprised at how affordable it was for the Room grade. It’s a wonderful Hotel that perfectly matches Mojiko’s retro atmosphere, and even though the weather was bad due to a typhoon, I was very satisfied with my stay.

Parents’ Trip
A Kitakyushu trip with my parents, starting in Mojiko! We enjoyed a truly luxurious day—perfect for our final night. From our Room, we had a panoramic view of the Kanmon Straits and the Blue Wing Moji, and the night scenery was incredible. It was also easy to explore the town on foot from the Hotel, which made my parents very happy. As someone who loves lounges, I was completely satisfied with everything—the atmosphere and the offerings. After that, the steak set dinner came with salad, rice, bread, soup, and more in buffet style—more than satisfying! With such great value for a Suite Room with two meals included, it was the perfect way to end this trip. Thank you very much for your hospitality. Next time I’d love to visit with my husband!

Great location
Although the weather was unfortunately rainy, the property is located in the Mojiko Retro District and close to the station. The Kanmon Bridge can be seen from the Room, and breakfast was also good.

A Hotel designed by Aldo Rossi, the Pritzker Prize–winning master of Italian architecture
Stayed here during a trip on the Tokyo Kyushu Ferry from Yokosuka to Shin-Moji Port. This Hotel is a work by Aldo Rossi, the renowned Italian architect and 1990 Pritzker Prize laureate. The interior has been renovated, and the Room feels clean and fresh with no sense of age. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience of staying inside a piece of art. Dinner was at the Italian restaurant in the Hotel, where we enjoyed delicate seasonal dishes—from an appetizer of young sweetfish to Saga beef. The ceiling features a design reminiscent of a ship’s propeller. In Mojiko, there is also a tower condominium designed in 1999 by Kisho Kurokawa, one of Japan’s leading world-class architects. It is a beautiful town where 20th-century architectural works coexist within streetscapes lined with historic buildings. I would love to return again by ferry.

The door is difficult to close.
My stay was extremely comfortable. The door to Room 817 (Shark Eye?) is not functioning as an automatic lock, so please have it adjusted.

Absolutely wonderful.
We stayed to celebrate a birthday. All the staff were very pleasant and kind. The Room was spacious, spotless, and extremely comfortable—nothing to complain about. We were able to relax and truly enjoy an extraordinary getaway. The view from the window was wonderful, like a painting. The baked goods in the lounge were delicious, and I ended up having far more than I intended. Dinner was Italian cuisine—beautifully presented and very tasty. They also helped us celebrate the birthday, which made it a great memory. For breakfast, we enjoyed Mojiko specialties such as their famous baked curry and miso soup with pufferfish. Overall, it was a wonderful trip and we were very satisfied.

The Perfect Hotel for Exploring Moji
It was an ideal location for sightseeing in Moji. The stylish interior design and furnishings were wonderful. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, and we thoroughly enjoyed the lounge as well. We felt the price was almost too good to be true.

The view of the Kanmon Strait from the window was wonderful, and the window had a retro-style frame rather than a standard sash. Located right in the heart of Mojiko, the location was excellent and made sightseeing very convenient. The Hotel restaurant had a great atmosphere, and the food was delicious.

I thoroughly enjoyed exploring Mojiko Retro.
The Hotel is located right in the heart of the Mojiko Retro district, so the night view from the Room was wonderful. Unlike Yokohama, it’s quiet and feels like you have the area all to yourself. I used the breakfast buffet, and they offered local specialties; I was especially satisfied with the wide variety of salads. I only tried one type of bread, and it wasn’t really to my taste. The directions to the parking lot were hard to understand, and when leaving it was also difficult to find the exit, so I was a bit confused, but everything worked out in the end. It’s an affordable place to stay, and there are plenty of sights within walking distance, making it a very convenient Hotel. Thank you for your hospitality.

We recommend having breakfast.
Breakfast is served buffet-style, and we thoroughly enjoyed it—especially the baked curry and the pufferfish miso soup.

The restaurant.
I stayed for 4 nights. I think the in-room TVs should be upgraded to support internet streaming as soon as possible. The bathtub is small. Even though the restaurant was nearly empty once we went in, it was hard to get a Reservation—was this due to staff shortages? The same was true for breakfast Reservations, and ¥2,800 for a buffet at that quality feels expensive. However, everything else—including the staff service—was excellent, and overall the value for money is very high.

Highly satisfied
Although it was an older Hotel, the Room didn’t feel dated at all. The tiled vanity area and toilet were wonderful. The Room was very clean and comfortable, and since it was a corner Room, there were plenty of windows so it was bright; we could fully enjoy the view of Mojiko Port—it was fantastic. The light snacks in the club lounge were more than satisfying for us as a couple in our 50s, and having sparkling wine was also great. The elevator floor being tiled as well had a lovely retro feel. I recommend it to everyone.

A Relaxing Room
Unlike the weather up to last week, it was chilly with heavy rain and strong winds. The Room also felt a bit cold. I wasn’t sure if it would be possible, but when I asked at the front desk, you turned on the heating—thank you very much. Thanks to that, I had a very comfortable stay. Dinner was at the steakhouse, and both the meat and dishes were excellent. It’s a wonderful Hotel that I’d love to visit again.

Enjoy Mojiko Retro to the fullest
It was a very comfortable, spotless, and clean Hotel. Since we stayed in a Premium Room, we had a panoramic view from the lounge of the Kanmon Bridge and Shimonoseki across the strait. The lounge was open until night, so it was great that we could enjoy the night view again after dinner. We could also see the sea from the windows of our spacious Room, making for a luxurious stay. The full-course dinner was delicious, and breakfast—featuring carefully selected ingredients in each dish as well as honeycomb honey—was also excellent, so I recommend booking with breakfast and dinner included. It’s an Accommodation I’d love to stay at again.

Very satisfied
A trip to explore Mojiko. I chose this Hotel for its convenient location near Mojiko Station and the bathroom amenities. The service was excellent, the Room was spacious, the lounge was calm and relaxing, and the breakfast was delicious—everything exceeded my expectations. They also kindly stored my luggage before check-in and after check-out, which made sightseeing much easier. It rained both days, but the loan umbrellas were a big help. Thank you for everything.

The Facility was clean.
I stayed one night with breakfast included. The underground parking garage is quite narrow, so a staff member guided me while I parked. At check-in, a new staff member gave a courteous explanation, and when corrections were needed, the staff member next to them provided appropriate support. Thank you. Right after entering the Room, I noticed the bathroom mirror was wet. It looked like water had splashed from the shower, which concerned me slightly, but otherwise the Room was clean. After showering, I wished there had been some kind of moisturizing amenity available. The next morning, when I stepped into the hallway to go to breakfast, linens were left out in a cluttered manner and a staff-only door was left wide open. While this may be convenient for housekeeping, I was surprised to see it like that even though there were still three hours until checkout time. I assume someone was on break as well, but I could even see someone sitting on the floor with their legs stretched out behind that door. Wouldn’t it be better to keep the door closed...? Since I had seen in IKYU’s description at Reservation that it is promoted as “luxury,” this really surprised me. Breakfast was delicious.

Conveniently located near the station.
The whole town is small, so we were able to walk around and see everything in half a day, then relax at the Hotel. We were also satisfied with the Hotel breakfast. The surrounding souvenir shops and restaurants all felt very similar, so the lounge afternoon tea was much appreciated. The Room was spacious and well stocked with amenities. However, it felt like the Hotel had more space than it could make good use of.

I had visited for lunch before and had always wanted to stay someday. I’d heard the views of the Kanmon Strait were wonderful, so I chose the Premier Strait Deluxe Twin—and it was absolutely the right choice! I enjoyed the view from the window late into the night and again in the morning. The staff were very attentive, and the breakfast buffet was fun with plenty of local flavors. The lounge also offered a truly relaxing, special experience as I enjoyed the view from the top floor. When I visit Kitakyushu again, I’d love to stay in a different Room type as well.

It’s a wonderful Hotel.
I stayed here 15 years ago and came back because I wanted to stay again. The atmosphere, comfort, service, and Room were all excellent—I was completely satisfied. I enjoyed both the nostalgia of Mojiko and my time at the Hotel. I’d love to visit again!

Wonderful architecture and delightful design details everywhere—such a pleasure to take in. A lovely lounge, a delicious breakfast, and sparkling wine to top it off. The view from the window! I’m so glad I chose the sea side—so relaxing, and it made for a truly satisfying Mojiko stay.

Stay Again in the Premier Strait Suite
I stayed again in the Premier Strait Suite. Perhaps the management policy has changed, but it used to be better. This time, the check-in operation had gotten worse. I arrived a little early and stopped by the front desk to leave my luggage, and was told to complete pre-check-in, so I did and went out for a walk. When I returned, I was told they would bring me the key once the Room was ready, so I waited. Several groups were already waiting, but even when check-in time came there was no guidance. Guests who arrived later were able to check in. While more and more guests lined up at the front desk, a dark-skinned, well-built foreign male staff member told us—without any apology for the wait—that even those who had completed pre-check-in needed to line up again for check-in. I couldn’t understand what pre-check-in was for, and several groups who had been waiting just like us were made to join the long line again. Those of us who had already completed pre-check-in looked at that dark-skinned, well-built foreign male staff member with dissatisfaction, but he acted very overbearing—basically saying he would guide people in order. There was not a shred of hospitality; it felt unreasonably handled—like staying at Hilton/Conrad Hotels where everyone is processed all at once after check-in time. I didn’t reach my Room until about 30 minutes after check-in time. Other guests also received their stored luggage at the front desk instead of having it delivered to their Rooms. There were elderly couples tired from long journeys as well, which I truly felt sorry for. I think this style should be reconsidered. As for Room cleaning: there was memo paper on the floor by the bedside, and mold in the bathroom stood out. In the club lounge, the wine selection had decreased significantly. I used the restaurant last time; neither service nor food stood out in any way, so you may be better off enjoying dining outside of this Hotel.

A Wonderful Accommodation by the Kanmon Straits
A 3-minute walk from Mojiko Station, this Hotel is in a convenient location with plenty of souvenir shops and restaurants nearby (especially yaki curry spots), and the ferry terminal to cross to Shimonoseki is also just a short walk away. Right in front of you, you can watch ships passing through the Kanmon Straits and cars crossing the Kanmon Bridge—the view is wonderful. We stayed in a Premier Deluxe Twin Room, so it was spacious, with separate bath and toilet, making for a very comfortable stay. It’s great that the club lounge serves alcohol from 3:00 PM; they offer sparkling wine and Lambrusco. If possible, I’d love to see a few more types of alcohol available—speaking as someone who enjoys drinks. For example, like some other hotels, it would be nice if they offered several additional options for two hours starting at 5:00 PM. Breakfast was a Japanese/Western buffet with a decent variety and was very good. The fugu miso soup and live-kitchen desserts were especially unique. If you’re staying in Mojiko, this is definitely the Hotel to choose.

It was a very nice Hotel; I recommend it.
Close to the station and right in front of the sea, so the view was wonderful. The front desk staff were clearly well trained; their smiles were excellent and they were full of hospitality. The accommodation fee is also reasonable. Perhaps because the building is older, the Room showed signs of age in places, but that actually made it feel warm and welcoming. It was bright during the day even without turning on the lights, it was clean, and it felt open and airy. This time I couldn’t make it over to Karato, but I’d like to visit Mojiko again and cross to the other side—when I do, I’d love to stay here again. I recommend it to others as well. Thank you very much for your kind hospitality.

We had a comfortable stay.
I stayed in Mojiko on a business trip and chose a sea-side Room; the view was wonderful and truly impressive. The Hotel had a classic atmosphere and a beautiful exterior. Although it felt a bit old, the Room was clean and I had a comfortable stay. Unfortunately, I did not add breakfast, but if I have the chance to stay again, I would like to try it.

Overall, it was good, but...
The Room has air conditioning, but it was difficult to adjust, and I personally found it uncomfortable to sleep because the air felt very dry at times and humid at others. Also, while there is a bathtub in the bathroom, there was no shower chair for washing, which I personally found inconvenient.
