Sebuah Penginapan tunggal yang terletak di dalam hutan yang sunyi, nikmati sepenuhnya tiga jenis mata air panas semula jadi yang berbeza.

Located northeast of the Shirakami-Sanchi mountains, Nikkei Onsen sits not far off National Route 7 from Odate. Beyond the romance of a secluded hot-spring inn surrounded by abundant nature, the quality of its waters is among the best in Akita. Two different sources are fed directly to the indoor bath and the open-air bath, each with distinct characteristics. The indoor bath is a sulfur-containing chloride spring with a notably high free hydrogen sulfide content of 15.3 mg/kg, so as you approach you’re enveloped in that unmistakable sulfur aroma. The bathing temperature is set at 41°C, and despite expectations it is neutral but slightly on the acidic side, making it comfortable to soak in. There are also two private baths available for exclusive use, and at the large public bath these can also be enjoyed as reclining baths. The open-air bath is even richer in minerals than the indoor bath: total dissolved solids reach 20.26 g/kg (6.955 g/kg for the indoor bath), giving it an impressively concentrated feel—both in scent and on the skin—like a true medicinal spring. Among the private baths, Urugeru Yukko and Takimi Yukko are spacious; Takimi Yukko even features a luxurious reclining area. All of these springs contain abundant metasilicic acid and metaboric acid, which are said to be beneficial for skin—making it easy to understand why they have been loved for so long. Being able to savor such exceptional waters amid vast natural surroundings is an experience unique to Nikkei Onsen. That said, during summer the open-air area may be covered with vinyl sheets or similar materials to keep horseflies away, which slightly reduces the view—but it’s understandable. The rooms are retro Japanese-Western style accommodations that evoke Japan’s Showa era—not “retro” as an excuse for being outdated. While there’s a nostalgic feel in its design and furnishings, the walls, floors, and beds were clean enough that I could relax comfortably throughout my stay. The meals were delicious Japanese cuisine incorporating local specialties. As someone in my twenties I did find it slightly light for my appetite, but dining isn’t really what this inn is about so it didn’t bother me much. Still—as other reviews mention—there was almost no explanation of each dish, which was honestly disappointing. This is an inn I want to visit again—one of those rare hot-spring retreats where you hope it stays just as it is even if getting there takes a bit of effort.

Dilengkapi tab mandi terbuka peribadi di dalam bilik dengan aliran terus dari sumber mata air panas. Nikmati mata air panas terkenal Kamisuwa serta layanan mesra yang penuh perhatian.

From the outside it is a simple Western-style building, but once you step inside, it feels grand and luxurious. The location is excellent: Lake Suwa spreads out right in front of you, and every room comes with its own open-air hot spring bath with free-flowing natural spring water. The water quality is wonderful, and every carefully selected furnishing is of exceptional quality. I also appreciated the in-room massage chair, and the coffee setup was great—you can grind the beans yourself and brew a delicious cup while enjoying the aroma. I worried that such a fluffy bed might hurt my back, but it was truly comfortable. The feather pillow was perfect as well; I slept soundly and woke up refreshed the next morning. With your stay, you also receive complimentary bathing tickets for Katakurakan. In addition, there are free-flow drinks available in the 3rd-floor lounge—soft drinks, rooibos tea, and even wine (just a tasting portion). Dinner can be enjoyed as a full course meal, and they selected local wines for pairing; it was an outstanding experience. I was also touched when the chef came to greet us personally. They were very flexible with the course menu as well—we were able to choose different courses for each of us, which really showed how accommodating this hotel is. Car-wash service—which has disappeared at many places—is still offered here, which impressed me again. Seeing my car polished to a shine the next morning genuinely made me happy. I have stayed at many renowned hotels and ryokan over the years, but receiving this level of service at this price point makes this an easy choice for my go-to hotel from now on. There are so many more memorable moments that I could not possibly write them all here—but I hope everyone experiences it for themselves and discovers what makes this hotel so special. To all of the hoteliers: thank you very much for your warm smiles and attentive hospitality throughout our stay.

Lokasi strategik berhampiran Ise Jingu, membolehkan anda berziarah pada awal pagi dan waktu malam. Hotel teragih yang menenangkan.

This is an inn I had been curious about for about a year, and I was finally able to make my long-awaited stay come true. At check-in, you kindly explained the history and culture of Ise-Kawasaki in great detail, which truly moved me. The Ise tea and salted yokan served to us were delicious, and the warm, attentive hospitality of the staff member in charge left a lasting impression. The room was a charming space where you could feel the breath of history—spacious, spotless, and extremely comfortable. The beautiful garden view stretching out beyond the room was so captivating that I found myself gazing at it for ages. The amenities were also wonderful, including VMG’s familiar rice bran series and the “Ise Misogi-yu” bath salts. What impressed me most was breakfast. The dishes inspired by the tradition of “Shinsen,” offerings presented to the deities at the Grand Shrine, had deep, comforting flavors that reflected both craftsmanship and heartfelt care. It brought me a profound sense of peace and healing as I felt connected to the local climate and history. I also appreciated being able to enjoy Ise udon at breakfast—something I had missed during my trip—which was such a thoughtful touch. At check-out, you gladly took commemorative photos in front of the main building and warmly saw us off until we were out of sight; that moment remains vividly in my heart even now. It was clear that everyone on staff truly cherishes Ise’s history and culture. This stay reminded me of Japan’s precious sense of beauty—something easily forgotten amid everyday busyness—and made it an unforgettable experience. I would love to return again. Thank you very much for such a heartwarming and wonderful time.
