Classic Twin Partial Ocean View (Twin) Reservation We stayed at Grand Mercure expecting a special lounge experience, but we wished for more variety in the snacks. During our visit to Awaji in April, there were mini sakura mochi, which made it feel more "Grand," so it was a bit disappointing this time. Both the meals and lounge snacks featured many items using "ume" (plum), giving us a sense of Wakayama. The ume-themed wall at the front desk was also lovely. The room was a corner room with great views. However, the bed was disappointing... I woke up in the middle of the night due to discomfort as it felt like the springs were pressing against my body. A thin mattress topper might be necessary. In Awaji, both the bed (Simmons) and pillows were excellent and very comfortable. Looking at images from Minabe, I wondered if Superior rooms had beds with similar specifications. When making a reservation, carefully checking images for bed thickness might be helpful!
