    The Premium Family Suite was an excellent Room.

    To all the staff at Karuizawa Club Hotel 1130, thank you as always for your kind support. My family has stayed here many times over the past few years, and this time we were finally able to make a Reservation for the Premium Family Suite Room we had long hoped for, so we stayed yesterday. As its name suggests, it was the highest-grade Room among the many Rooms at Karuizawa Hotel 1130. There was an open-air jacuzzi bath on the balcony, and two indoor baths inside as well. There were also two restrooms, and four separate rooms in total—one of them a bedroom with a skylight that lets you gaze up at the sky. Because every space was so luxurious, my whole family was thrilled the moment we stepped into each room. We had reserved Japanese kaiseki at Yamaboshi well in advance, but it was changed to a buffet Plan. Just like in Hewitt Resort’s TV commercial, the buffet venue was beautiful and the selection was extensive. From the live kitchen at dinner to freshly made rice balls at breakfast, everything exceeded our expectations. The staff were all courteous and kind, which helped us greatly. We also visited the open-air bath at Onioshi Onsen; it had been renovated and made it easier to access directly from the indoor bath area. We will be staying one more night later this month as well, and we are looking forward to enjoying the same Premium Family Suite Room again. Each time we stay, this wonderful Hotel continues to evolve even further—and it has become our family’s favorite. I hope other guests can experience that same sense of excitement too.     The guest room is spacious.

    The room was spacious and comfortable. All of the staff were wonderful. Unfortunately, that was about it—there were too many disappointing points. The vending machines on the guestroom floor had very limited options and were sold out. I thought about going to the shop instead, but it was far away and inconvenient. Getting from the room to the front desk, baths, restaurant, and shop is extremely far, hard to follow, and like a maze—just a hassle. After using the baths in colder seasons, you’d probably be freezing. The corridor you have to take from the rooms to where the front desk is was dimly lit, damp, unsettling, and had an odor. Most disappointing of all was the food I had been looking forward to. Dinner in particular didn’t feel very local and there weren’t many choices. The lineup was so underwhelming that I couldn’t even tell what their “main” or signature items were supposed to be. Nothing stood out as truly delicious. Breakfast felt slightly better than dinner—but still not much different from a typical business hotel breakfast. The rooms are large enough that it might work for families or bigger groups, but you may want to stock up on drinks at a convenience store beforehand and consider eating at restaurants outside instead.

    A bit stingy and disappointing.

    This was our first time choosing this Accommodation, and we stayed for 4 nights. The Room was very spacious, which was great. The buffet meals are limited to 70 minutes. I understand it may be due to crowding, but 70 minutes with small children felt quite tight. Our main purpose was the pool. The water slide and lazy river were a big hit with both kids and adults. They hand out towels at the pool (regular towels like the ones in the Room), but the limit on the number of towels was very strict, which was a bit disappointing. We wanted two extra towels so we could go straight to the bath as well (maybe we should have brought our own), but they firmly refused. Also, regarding room service/housekeeping: is it uncommon for them to clean up floor trash? We would have appreciated vacuuming since it was a 4-night stay. It would also be nice if there were some small perks or services for guests on a Multiple Night Stay.

    A bit old, but I still love it!

    It’s been almost 30 years since you opened. I like this resort condominium-style Hotel for its spacious Rooms, and I’ve stayed here more than 10 times. Recently, I book when I find a special price on IKYU. This time, I chose a Plan with Japanese dinner, and it was delicious! That said, the building’s age is starting to show. On the way to my Room, I noticed peeling wallpaper with holes in some areas, and the lovely glass-enclosed corridor beyond felt quite worn. I understand maintenance can be challenging for a large Hotel, but some repairs would be appreciated. When I look at the Plans now, I only see buffet options for both dinner and breakfast. Buffets are great for families with children, but I hope you won’t discontinue the Western or Japanese meal Plans. Lastly, I tried to use my Diamond member coupon for restaurant drinks and asked to charge it to my Room so I could settle it at checkout. However, at checkout I was told coupons cannot be used when paying at checkout—so in the end I used it at the shop instead. This wasn’t explained at check-in. In any case, this time I enjoyed delicious Japanese food and had a very satisfying stay. I’ll be back!

    Dog-Friendly Travel

    I made a Reservation for a Room with an open-air bath, and the bath was outstanding in both water quality and size—I ended up using it four times. What disappointed me was that I was seated near the food service area in the dining venue, so I couldn’t relax. The walkways were narrow, and I saw older guests nearly trip and people bump into each other. It felt like the number of guests didn’t match the venue’s capacity. The crab, salt-grilled rainbow trout, and stewed offal were delicious, but the meat was tough and there didn’t seem to be much of the other dishes.

    Before entering the room, you may find freshly replaced sheets and other linens placed casually in front of the door...

    Like other guests, I was informed a week in advance that the hot spring water in the semi-open-air bath of the Room I had reserved would no longer flow, and an alternative Room of the same grade with an Onsen was arranged for me. When I arrived at the assigned Room after check-in, used sheets and other linens—apparently from the previous guest’s changeover—had been left carelessly in front of the door. After entering, I called the front desk and asked them to remove them. Although I have stayed at many Accommodations, this is the first time I have experienced something like this. It may be due to the large number of Rooms, but I was satisfied with the Facility and other services; however, poor coordination with back-of-house staff was the only—and very disappointing—issue.

    I searched in Karuiz...

    I searched in Karuizawa for a barrier-free Onsen property with an in-Room bath and made a Reservation for my elderly mother and family, but honestly, it was not a Facility suitable for seniors. The in-Room bath had a nice view, but it was not barrier-free at all. The large public Onsen bath (Onioshidashi Onsen) had good water quality, but the floors were slippery and there were very few handrails, so I questioned whether it could really be called barrier-free. Dining was buffet only because I could not make a restaurant Reservation. The menu did not change at all from day to day. There were many families with children and inbound tour groups, and the venue felt too small for the number of guests; with so many children suddenly running around, it felt dangerous. It is also far from Karuizawa. Given the location and the scale of this huge Facility, I assume it is intended for groups and families with children. I found it strange that it is listed on IKYU.

    Karuizawa 1130

    All staff—at the front desk, restaurant, large public bath, shop, and even the bus driver—were very welcoming. The meals were delicious, and the amenities were well stocked. In particular, there was a free-flowing Onsen on the terrace, so my elderly parents could enjoy the Onsen with peace of mind. They were very happy, and it became a wonderful memory for us. One disappointing point was that—perhaps only in our Room—a lot of dust had accumulated around the light near the headboard in the bedroom. Other than that, we are grateful for all of your services.

    Family-friendly for guests with children

    The building and Facility feel dated, but the Room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. Meals were buffet-style for both breakfast and dinner, but there were long lines to get in. There were few local specialties, and the food was honestly average at best. The large public bath was also crowded: the washing area was covered in foam, people repeatedly splashed shower water on others, and some even swam in the tub—total chaos. We expected some of this during the Obon holiday period, but it ended up being an unsettled stay from start to finish. I think it’s a good Hotel for families with small children who want to relax without worrying too much and can accept that “it goes both ways,” but it wasn’t a good fit for our adults-only trip.

    Please consider establishing a more systematic service structure. It may be too focused on children. I stayed for three nights, and it was disappointing that there was no variation in the meals.

    Unlike before COVID,...

    Unlike before COVID, the meals have become the worst in both taste and quality. The dining area has changed into a very noisy space with many small children, and it feels like the food has been adjusted for kids’ preferences. I made a Reservation because I liked the spacious Room as before, but we ended up saying, “Not that service for that price.” Well—most likely we won’t stay here again.

    Ideal for family trips with young children.

    Overall, this is a Hotel with excellent value for money, and I think it is an ideal Accommodation especially for families traveling with young children. We stayed here for a one-night family trip (5 people) from Kusatsu Onsen to Karuizawa. “Karuizawa Club Hotel Karuizawa 1130” in Tsumagoi is located almost halfway between Kusatsu Onsen and Karuizawa, making it the perfect Hotel for this trip. It is a quiet Accommodation surrounded by Tsumagoi’s great natural scenery. While the building does feel a bit dated, it was well maintained and comfortable. The Room was very spacious, the amenities were more than sufficient, and everything was thoroughly cleaned—clean and comfortable throughout. There is a large public bath (Onsen); although it felt somewhat small for the Hotel’s capacity, we were satisfied as there was also an open-air bath and a sauna. Overall, I think this is a Hotel with outstanding cost performance. It is a little away from central Karuizawa, but there is parking on site, so I highly recommend it to families traveling by car. In particular, there is an indoor pool for children as well as other kid-friendly Facilities and shops in the building, making it ideal for family trips with children. An amusement park called “Omocha Okoku” (Toy Kingdom) is also nearby, so it’s an excellent Hotel to stay at with energetic kids. We had both dinner and breakfast buffet-style; there was a wide variety of food and drinks, and the quality was perfectly acceptable. One point regarding dinner: we arrived late (around 7:00 p.m.), so we couldn’t eat until close to 8:30 p.m., which was tough—even though arriving late was our fault (if we had been informed in advance about this situation, we would have arrived earlier). Also, the dining area was crowded and we waited about 10 minutes before being shown to our table; even after my name was called, we were not seated promptly. Meanwhile several smaller groups who arrived after us were seated ahead of us without any confirmation or explanation from staff, which felt unpleasant. If they had waited to call our name until our table for five was ready—or if they had simply given us a brief explanation when seating later guests first—there would have been no issue. I understand that staff are very busy during peak times; however, because there were few other drawbacks at this Hotel overall, this experience was disappointing.

    Family-friendly!

    The Room was spacious, and we were able to spend our time comfortably. What was disappointing was the buffet menu. Both breakfast and dinner offered a well-thought-out variety and were excellent, but when staying two nights, the menu was exactly the same, so our child got bored. It doesn’t need to change completely, but we would have liked a bit more variation. Another point is the pool. There is a fee each time even for guests staying at the Accommodation. Our child wanted to go in both in the morning and afternoon, but since adults also have to enter with them, it ends up being quite expensive just for the pool. For that price, it would be nice to have a pool where adults can swim as well.

    We stayed with three children.

    Although there is some wear and tear in places, the Room is spacious, bright, and relaxing. Cleaning was generally satisfactory except for a few small areas. An extra bed was provided, so we stayed comfortably. The children’s amenities are also cute. Dinner requires a Reservation, but breakfast is open to all; after 7:00 it starts to get crowded and long lines form. Be prepared to wait about 20 minutes. The staff work very hard, but the venue feels over capacity for the number of guests. We recommend going before 7:00. The food was reasonably tasty with a wide selection, and it was more than enough for families with children to enjoy. The building is so large that it’s easy to get lost, so be sure to confirm where the parking lot is located.

    The day before, the hot spring water supply to the semi-open-air bath in the Room stopped.

    They contacted me about this. It was too late to cancel and I felt anxious, but they prepared a replacement Room—a suite—so I was able to stay with peace of mind. The front desk manager said, “Luckily it was available…,” and the Room even had a private hot-spring bath with free-flowing source water, so I was very satisfied. Thank you very much.

    Unlimited Onsen Enjoyment

    We stayed in a Room with an open-air Onsen bath with two dogs. The Onsen had a beautiful amber color and was very relaxing, helping us unwind from everyday fatigue.

    Four-Generation Family Trip

    We stayed for 2 nights and 3 days with seven people: my 89-year-old mother-in-law, my eldest son’s family, and my daughter and her husband. The Room was spacious and felt very luxurious, with a jacuzzi while enjoying the view of Mt. Asama. Breakfast and dinner were buffet-style. The crab was very delicious, but it seemed difficult to remove the meat from the shells, so I felt not many people ate much of it—which was such a waste. It might have been nice if disposable plastic gloves had been provided. Being able to enjoy onigiri rice balls, burgers, and seafood bowls at breakfast was fantastic! I also recommend the lounge, where you can relax in a comfortable space while enjoying coffee and soft-serve ice cream.

    Disappointed

    When we arrived by car, there was no one at the entrance, and we didn’t know what to do. The Room was spacious, but there was dust in the corner of the Japanese-style room, which bothered me. The bedroom smelled bad, and we couldn’t ventilate it. The toothbrush was too small and difficult to use. At the dinner buffet, a table for four was available, so I asked if we could sit there, but I was refused; then a couple started eating at that four-person table next to us while we were eating at a two-person table—why? I don’t think we will return. The view from the Room and from the observation terrace is wonderful. At the breakfast buffet, the person making rice balls was very pleasant.

    Great value with access to the Onsen.

    Recommended for an affordable stay at a Hotel with an Onsen near Karuizawa. It also has a pool, making it a great choice for families with children, and it felt like you could enjoy a fulfilling stay. The breakfast buffet offers a wide variety of Japanese and Western dishes, so I don’t think you would get tired of it even if you used it for several days in a row. You can also see Mt. Asama from the Room, and the view was wonderful—overall, it was a very pleasant stay.

    Disappointed despite the good Reviews.

    We checked in at 3:00 PM, and at that time dinner was set for 7:40 PM. Since we were staying as adults, the late time was not an issue, but the dinner content differed from the Reviews, so I would like to share this with everyone. Although it was buffet-style, there were no serving utensils to take food. Items such as curry that should have been kept warm in thermal pots were out of stock. Most of the other hot and cold dishes were almost at room temperature. Because of this, we returned to our Room early. The Room was clean and quiet, and the bath was clean, spacious, and very nice. The staff also responded accurately to our questions, which made it all the more disappointing.

    Spacious Room with Asama View

    Surrounded by deep greenery and fresh air, I was able to fully enjoy the meals and the Onsen, and truly relax. This Onsen suited me especially well—I stayed warm for a long time afterward. I would love to visit again.

    A Hotel that keeps improving with every stay.

    We have been truly grateful to all the Hotel staff for several years. We have stayed here several times since the Karuizawa Club 1130 days, and every visit has been comfortable and satisfying in this clean Hotel. Recently, we have noticed continued improvements in service with each stay, such as having staff stationed in the parking area. Since becoming Hewitt Resort, 1130 has also been featured in TV commercials, and both the buffet venue layout and the variety of buffet menu items have expanded. In September, we will be staying for the first time in a Room with an open-air bath on the Mt. Asama side, and we are really looking forward to it. We will continue to stay here in the future as well, so we appreciate your support in helping us create family memories. Thank you always to all of your staff.

    The French cuisine was excellent.

    We stayed here on a family trip for the first time in a while. We chose French cuisine instead of the buffet, and were able to enjoy delicious dishes slowly in a calm setting. We had a wonderful time together as a family. We would love to stay again, and we appreciate your continued hospitality.

    At an elevation of 1,130 m, the red-hued Onioshidashi Onsen is wonderfully relaxing and truly exceptional!

    Because this Hotel is located at an elevation of 1,130 m, it is cooler than Old Karuizawa. I visited in June and it felt a little chilly, but I think it would be very comfortable in summer. Since it is near Onioshidashi, perhaps because of that, the Onsen seems abundant. The Onsen water was a reddish-brown color and felt great with many beneficial qualities. The in-Room Onsen had the same reddish-brown water, and it was truly relaxing as well. For dinner, I chose French cuisine. It was the standard course (I will post photos of the dishes), and everything was carefully prepared and delicious. There was also a sommelier who kindly talked with us about wine. Thanks to that, we enjoyed excellent food and plenty of wine—and ended up happily tipsy (laugh). Breakfast was buffet-style, with a wide variety of dishes available, which was very satisfying. The Hotel does feel a bit old in places, but overall I am satisfied. Personally, I would recommend this Hotel.

    It was spacious and comfortable.

    Both check-in and check-out were handled by international staff. I assume the hotel is set up for inbound guests, and the service was polite and courteous. Because we arrived late, our dinner buffet slot started at 20:20 (which was totally fine), but since last order was at 21:30, from around 21:00 the staff disappeared into the kitchen, some dishes we still wanted were cleared away, and we strongly felt pressure to leave quickly. The live station was steak, but the chef had already left before 21:00. There were also many staff chatting, so it didn’t match what we expected based on the Reviews, which was disappointing. Breakfast was great—everyone was energetic and attentive. Both the Onsen and pool were small but clean, and our 4-year-old really enjoyed them.

    The Onsen was excellent.

    We were able to relax a lot in the dog-friendly Room with an open-air bath. The Room was also spacious and comfortable. I’d like to stay again. The large public bath had a sauna, an open-air bath, and a cold plunge, so it was very well equipped, but when I went for a morning bath, it was disappointing that the sauna was not operating. Even though there were many group guests, the baths were not crowded. It may have just been the time of day...

    The staff service wa...

    The staff service was a bit disappointing. The Room and Facility were fine, but the front desk and staff felt somewhat cold. There were no greetings, and overall I got a slightly intimidating impression. I didn’t feel the basic hospitality expected in the service industry, which made my stay somewhat disappointing. I hope to see improvements in the future.

    It was terrible.

    It may be due to the building’s age, but this was a terrible Hotel. The bathroom had a strong sewage smell and was unusable, so although I had paid for the second night, I did not stay.

    Meals are served separately from Asian tour groups, so you can dine in a relaxed and quiet atmosphere.

    It was very affordable, and the Room was spacious, so I could relax and rest well. They also accommodated my requests, and I enjoyed a quiet, pleasant holiday. Meals were separated from the Asian group tours, which allowed me to dine calmly in a quiet setting. The Room does show its age, but it was clean and well maintained. The housekeeping staff and international staff greeted me whenever we passed each other, which made my stay very comfortable. I would like to stay here again.
