Yanagawa is a beautiful water city where 930 km of canals, unchanged since the Edo period, spread throughout the town and boats glide by. The Tachibana family has long stood alongside Yanagawa’s history. During the Edo period, Ohana began as a villa of the Tachibana family, lords of the Yanagawa Domain. From the Western-style building constructed in the Meiji era as an authentic guesthouse, you pass through to a grand 100-tatami hall—beyond which lies a magnificent garden composed solely of pine trees. With the renewal of our accommodation wing, we are being reborn as a space where you can more fully enjoy the appeal of cultural properties still preserved by descendants of this former daimyo family. Making use of our distinction as Japan’s only nationally designated Place of Scenic Beauty where you can stay—a Ryokan with dining—we offer activities and moments that let you feel the history and stories of the daimyo family (the Tachibana family).

Since its construction in 1909 by tobacco magnate Kichibei Murai, Chourakukan has welcomed a wide range of guests from Japan and abroad as a place of warm hospitality.From some of Japan’s most renowned figures to royalty and ambassadors from around the world, distinguished visitors gathered here to spend glittering moments in an atmosphere of refined elegance. [Opening November 5, 2024] "Hotel Utano Kyoto Villa" is located just a short drive from the famous sightseeing spots of Kyoto, including Arashiyama, the World Heritage Sites of Kinkaku-ji, Ryoan-ji, and Ninna-ji, as well as the scenic Kinukake-no-Michi walking path. With only 10 guest rooms, each featuring a private Onsen bath, our accommodations include options such as Narutaki Main Building showcasing traditional Shoin-zukuri and Sukiya-style architecture; an Art Deco-inspired Western-style building; and rooms that blend warm Japanese aesthetics with contemporary Western design. Nara Hotel, with a proud history and tradition spanning more than 100 years, is located on a scenic hill in Nara Park and adjoins the former Daijoin Garden, a designated cultural property. The main building features a tiled roof and is built in cypress wood in the style of a Momoyama palace. Its interior blends Japanese and Western design, evoking the atmosphere of a royal residence.

Set against the backdrop of Nakane Mountain, also known as Gero Fuji, "Gero Onsen Yunoshimakan" exudes a serene and tranquil atmosphere. Built in 1931 on an expansive site of over 50,000 tsubo (approximately 165,000 square meters), this elegant Sukiya-style structure showcases refined craftsmanship throughout. Inspired by the appreciation for the serene and tasteful beauty of all things, we named our property "侘桜". A 200-year-old thatched-roof house has been relocated to a tranquil mountainous area near the small Kyoto of Kakunodate. We hope you can relax and enjoy your time here.

Senbon Matsubara, the most scenic spot along the Tokaido, captivated countless artists and literary masters from the Meiji through Showa eras. "Kinokawa Onsen Registered Tangible Cultural Property Inn Mikiyama" is a Japanese Ryokan with a 300-year history, located in the heart of the nostalgic Japanese Onsen town, Kinokawa Onsen. Renowned author Naoya Shiga made this Property his regular stay, where his famous short story "At Kinosaki" was born. The wooden architecture, built in 1927 and recognized as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property of Japan, along with a 300-tsubo Japanese garden, retains its charm.
