Known as the “inner retreat of Takayama,” Hida-Furukawa is a charming town lined with traditional townhouses, white-walled storehouses, and the Setogawa River where carp swim. Our Accommodation has been welcoming guests here for over 180 years. This Meiji-era building, showcasing the craftsmanship of Hida artisans, is designated as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property of Japan. Our 18 guest rooms are spread across three buildings, each with its own character: Shogetsuro, a merchant-style building (built in 1905); Kogetsuro, built in the Sukiya style (early Showa period); and Kangetsuro (built in the Heisei era), offering views of Honkoji Temple and the Araki River from the front. The legend of the descent of the heavenly deities lives on at the sacred peak of Takachiho. The legend began when the deities descended upon Amanosakahoko in Takamagahara (the High Plain).
